00:03NASA is gearing up for another moon mission, this time aboard this, its brand new gigantic
00:09Artemis rocket. The agency is looking to set up a moon base, and now Numiselle, an ESA-funded
00:14inflatable structure specialist, is showing off where those astronauts might live. These are the
00:19miniature proof of concepts of the moon base the company envisions. Each of the round structures
00:24can be inflated on the surface of the moon, but then they will be partially buried in around 16
00:28feet of lunar soil. The semi-underground residences and labs will then use the lunar regolith as a
00:34sort of natural radiation protection, as cosmic rays out in space are one of the leading dangers
00:39for long-term space dwellers. But that's not where the innovation ends. Each structure is
00:43self-reliant and can produce and recycle its own oxygen as well as grow its own food. Each of
00:48the inflatable moon buildings will also have solar panels and adjustable mirror rays to redirect
00:52sunlight onto crops. So how will they build these off-world homes for astronauts? Well,
00:57with one of these, the equally futuristic crab-like moon bugs.
