00:00The United Arab Emirates says it will accelerate work on a new oil pipeline,
00:06aiming to double export capacity through its Gulf of Oman terminal by 2027,
00:11further reducing reliance on the Strait of Hormuz.
00:14The existing pipeline has already helped the UAE cut its dependence on the narrow waterway
00:20that's been severely affected by the conflict in Iran.
00:25Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nayan has directed the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company
00:30to fast-track the West-East Pipeline project.
00:33It is already under construction and is expected to come online in 2027.
00:38The UAE's existing pipeline, which can carry up to 1.8 million barrels a day,
00:44has been key in shifting exports away from the Gulf.
00:47Only the UAE and Saudi Arabia currently have pipelines
00:50that allow crude exports outside the Strait of Hormuz,
00:54while Oman provides access to the Gulf of Oman.
