00:00This is unbelievable! I rewarded you! I gave you all of this!
00:06Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top 20 Mark Hamill voice acting roles.
00:13Beware of minor spoilers ahead.
00:15Of course you were. That's what everyone wants. Iconic. A symbol.
00:21Something kids will draw on the margins of their notebooks while they daydream about being as cool as you.
00:27Number 20. The Trickster Various DC animated projects
00:32Heck with all of them. I'm an artist. They're just robbing banks. Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang.
00:39Probably would have gone for it if I was a captain.
00:41Over a decade after Mark Hamill first played the Trickster on the live-action Flash TV show,
00:46he was invited to voice the character for an episode of Justice League Unlimited.
00:50In a sharp contrast to his more famous DC role, this villain wasn't seen as a legitimate threat.
00:55Heroes and bad guys alike wrote off the Trickster as a second-rate prankster.
00:59While the character could have come off as obnoxious,
01:02Hamill made us sympathize for the villain whenever he was down.
01:05If that's the way you're gonna be, forget about it! I quit!
01:10Nobody gets me.
01:12After voicing Trickster on Unlimited,
01:14the actor returned to the role several more times.
01:17We're sure Hamill is always welcome to come back and crack another joke while playing this poor prankster.
01:22You're my favorite actor!
01:24I loved you in that 70s classic about a young lad who fights impossible odds to fulfill his destiny.
01:30Who was that called?
01:32Oh yeah, Corvette Summer!
01:34Number 19. Larry 3000, Time Squad.
01:38Thank you. And you're a robot, right?
01:40Ooh, it seems we have a genius in our midst.
01:44If you were ever curious what the famous Star Wars actor would sound like if he were a droid,
01:50then we have an underrated animated show for you.
01:53On Time Squad, Hamill played a robot named Larry 3000.
01:57The snooty character spent a majority of his screen time criticizing his allies and enemies.
02:01Throughout the show, it was fun to see the high and mighty character get humbled again and again.
02:06And since Larry 3000 was made out of metal, he could be rebuilt every time he took a hilariously hard
02:12hit.
02:13It's tragic that Hamill's robot never got the chance to meet a certain uptight Star Wars droid
02:18before the short-lived show ran out of airtime.
02:20That's why we have to constantly repair the path and keep our future strong.
02:26Thank you and good night.
02:28Number 18. Sticky Beard.
02:30Codename Kids Next Door.
02:43This sugar-coated pirate might be the sweetest villain that Hamill has ever played.
02:47Whenever Sticky Beard sailed into the show, he tried to steal every piece of candy he could.
02:52While the cavity captain wasn't exactly scary,
02:55his goals consistently brought him into conflict with the kids next door.
02:59Every time Hamill played Sticky Beard,
03:01you could tell he was having a blast portraying the over-the-top villain.
03:05The voice captured all the stereotypical pirate mannerisms we've grown to expect
03:09without losing the actor's trademark tones.
03:12It was always a delight to sail the sugary seas with Sticky Beard.
03:16I ain't leaving without the boy, John.
03:19He may be stupid, but I'm willing to fight for him.
03:23Unless ye be sugar-free?
03:25Number 17. Art Rosenbaum.
03:28Invincible.
03:29Prom dresses by day, indestructible super suits by night.
03:34I'm Art Rosenbaum, kid. Pleasure to finally meet you.
03:38We wouldn't be surprised if fans didn't catch who was voicing the world's best superhero Taylor right away.
03:43Normally, Hamill plays characters who steal scenes with their sinister actions or attention-grabbing tones.
03:49But for Invincible, the actor delivers a very subtle performance.
03:54Art is a kind-hearted man who genuinely wants to connect with the godly beings he works for.
03:59Whenever anyone needs a shoulder to lean on, the Taylor welcomes them into a shop with open arms.
04:05How are you holding up? Scratch that stupid question. What can I do for you?
04:12Hamill's heartwarming art performance serves as a great demonstration of his range.
04:17While we already knew he could play outlandish villains,
04:20this role solidified that he's great at portraying side characters with a ton of heart.
04:25Number 16. The Watcher. Darksiders.
04:28Before the Horsemen of War could go on an epic journey to determine Earth's fate,
04:32he had to agree to let the Watcher tag along.
04:35This vicious entity kept trying to push the main hero towards taking the most violent route forward.
04:40Hamill made sure that each and every one of the Watcher's lines was dripping with sadistic glee.
04:46Until this is over, you're a dog on a leash.
04:50I say bark, you bark. And if I have to kick you, you'd better not bear your teeth.
04:56Despite being much less bulky than the Horsemen of War,
04:59the entity had no problem taunting the protagonist.
05:02While the Watcher may not be one of Hamill's most well-known roles,
05:05it definitely deserves to be recognized.
05:08We certainly do not agree with everything the Watcher says,
05:11but he had so much fun giving the hero grief that we couldn't help but root for him.
05:20Are you not entertained?
05:37Whatever casting director thought it would be a good idea to ask Hamill
05:40to play an iconic Marvel mad scientist deserves a raise.
05:44We knew the actor was the perfect choice as soon as we heard Zola's voice.
05:48Instead of bringing manic energy to the booth,
05:51Hamill made sure that the scientist sounded arrogant and confident.
05:54It was the perfect approach to play a hateful character
05:57who lived to bring his former evil organization back to glory.
06:00Zola also loved to stop and gloat about the mistakes his enemies were making.
06:04Since 2015, Hamill has voiced the scientist over a dozen times.
06:09Marvel executives clearly love what he brings to the table as Zola.
06:13A few more jokes will be the end of poor Hawkeye.
06:18Oh, if only someone might help him.
06:22Number 14. Abraham Cain, Motor City.
06:26Attention, Motor City scum!
06:29Abraham Cain here, live from Deluxe,
06:32where it's safe and clean and the sun always shines.
06:36In a futuristic version of America,
06:39a cruel businessman spends every waking moment trying to conquer the city
06:43that lies underneath a new version of Detroit.
06:45Abraham Cain is tasked with coming up with twisted plans
06:48to take out his foes while keeping his rage issues in check.
06:52While it would have been easy to write him off as a one-note villain,
06:55Hamill added a lot of texture to the role.
06:57Look at me, Mike.
06:58Do you know what it took for me to get where I am?
07:01I, uh, I don't know, sir.
07:04Dedication to the good of Deluxe, without hesitation.
07:09Are you ready for that?
07:11Cain genuinely believed that his actions would ultimately benefit society as a whole.
07:16Unfortunately for his enemies,
07:18he didn't care what they lost if it got him closer to winning the day.
07:21Although Hamill only got to voice Cain for a season,
07:24his nuanced performance made the big bad unforgettable.
07:28Tough day, huh, son?
07:30Perhaps it's time to reconsider my offer.
07:33Number 13. Chucky. Child's Play.
07:36Hi. Are you my best buddy?
07:40Hamill gave one of the most terrifying performances of his career
07:43when he brought an iconic doll to life.
07:46When his Chucky first came out of the box,
07:48it genuinely sounded like a nice toy.
07:50But everything changed after Hamill's doll learned about how violent the world was.
07:55Every time it committed an act of cruelty,
07:57its voice got just a little bit darker.
08:00You can't run away from me now.
08:03See? They're all leaving you, but not me.
08:07After a while, his once sweet tones began sounding like the stuff of nightmares.
08:12It was incredible to watch Hamill's voice transform over the course of one film.
08:17While it would be great to see him return to the role,
08:20we're not sure we'd be able to sleep if he were cast to play Chucky more frequently.
08:23Now it's going to be you and me forever.
08:29Number 12. Adrian Ripburger. Full Throttle.
08:33This point-and-click video game stood out for many others during this era,
08:36as it featured an experienced and well-known voice cast,
08:40with Hamill serving as the primary antagonist.
08:43I thought you might like some help with your sales pitch, sir.
08:47Sales pitch?
08:48Yes.
08:49We've come here today to offer you and your men employment.
08:53The scheming and manipulative Ripburger is the vice president of a motorcycle company
08:57in the not-so-distant future,
08:59who aims to take control of the business with an evil plan involving betrayal and murder.
09:04Perhaps worst of all,
09:06he would change the company to produce minivans.
09:08Despite graphical and technological limitations of the time,
09:12Hamill gives a great performance in this cult classic.
09:15You know, this reminds me of an amusing anecdote.
09:21About her...
09:24Ugh...
09:25Ugh...
09:27Like...
09:30Number 11. Skeleton King.
09:32Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go.
09:35Doomed citizens,
09:38Surrender and bow to my will.
09:40It was hard to choose which skeletal voice role deserved the biggest shout-out.
09:44Oh my god, we are.
09:47Hamill did a great job at putting a new spin on Skeletor.
09:50But in the end,
09:51we think the actor deserves even more credit for originating the role of the Skeleton King.
09:56This ambitious conqueror had no patience for incompetent minions or brave heroes.
10:02If you got on the Skeleton King's bad side,
10:04there's no guarantee you'd see tomorrow.
10:06People are rarely who they appear.
10:09Socko is no mere monkey.
10:11And you, my dear,
10:13are not even human.
10:15Hamill made every single world that came out of the character's mouth sound absolutely horrifying.
10:20If you decide to revisit this role,
10:22be prepared for the goosebumps you'll get whenever the Skeleton King speaks.
10:26At last,
10:27the fates have brought us together.
10:33Number 10,
10:34Senator Stampingston,
10:36Metalocalypse.
10:37These freaks,
10:38as you call them,
10:39are currently worth billions.
10:41Although Senator Stampingston could have gotten lost on the dark side of Hamill's IMDb credits,
10:46the role stuck out because it was on such a unique show.
10:49Metalocalypse followed the fictional death metal band Death Clock.
10:53And opposed to these rockers was a shady and mysterious group known as the Tribunal.
10:58Gentlemen,
10:59it appears as if Death Clock is back.
11:03As the primary member,
11:05Stampingston was featured in most episodes.
11:08Hamill's stoic,
11:09devious portrayal brought a foreboding and dangerous sense to the Tribunal,
11:12while being in stark opposition to the less logical members of the group,
11:16who had the tendency to fly off the handle.
11:22Number 9,
11:23Alvin the Treacherous,
11:24DreamWorks Dragons.
11:26We're there for one man,
11:28the dragon conqueror.
11:29Based on the popular film,
11:31How to Train Your Dragon,
11:32the Dragons TV show expanded on an already great franchise.
11:36The show added to the lore set up in the first film in a number of ways,
11:39which included bringing in a human antagonist,
11:42Alvin the Treacherous.
11:49This exiled Viking sought revenge against the village of Berk and its chief stoic.
11:54Alvin managed to be an imposing presence,
11:56while somehow also bringing in a bit of humor as the nemesis to the series' heroes.
12:01However,
12:04In later seasons,
12:06Alvin became a more complex character,
12:08and shifted from complete villain into more of an anti-hero role.
12:12And Hamill's voice work made the transition seamless.
12:15Losing everything tends to make a man say things differently.
12:20Number 8,
12:21Wolverine,
12:21X2,
12:22Wolverine's Revenge.
12:24There was no reason to do what they did.
12:28No reason at all.
12:29It may surprise some to know that Hamill lent his voice to Marvel's most famous mutant,
12:35Wolverine,
12:35in video game form.
12:36Ever the chameleon of voice roles,
12:39Hamill brought the gruffness and grittiness that Wolverine is known for to this video game.
12:43Which,
12:43despite being released to tie into X-Men 2,
12:46was an original story that incorporated the larger Marvel universe.
12:49At the same time,
12:50the legendary voice actor added the perfect touch of humor to bring variety to his Wolverine.
12:55We'll hold fire on the celebrations.
12:58Security looks tighter than one of Jean's costumes.
13:01Along with his tough persona,
13:02Hamill managed to bring a sense of wonder and discovery to Wolverine,
13:06as he attempted to piece together his mysterious past.
13:09Revenge is a twisting, searing fire that burns deep in your belly.
13:14Take it away and you're left to face up to the reality of who and what you are.
13:18Number 7,
13:19Master Eraqus,
13:20The Kingdom Hearts Franchise.
13:22Today you will be examined for the mark of mastery.
13:26Fans of this video game series were thrilled when they first realized
13:30that Master Eraqus had a strangely familiar voice.
13:34Within the franchise,
13:35Hamill plays a firm and caring Keyblade Master
13:37who seeks to train his pupils to fend off the forces of darkness.
13:41Although he has the best of intentions,
13:43his devotion to the light puts him at odds with enemies who were once his friends.
13:47Hamill's voice carries a ton of strength and authority.
13:50Whenever he's pushed to his limits,
13:52he adopts a sharp tone that cuts deeper than any Keyblade.
13:56Has the darkness taken you, Tara?
13:59Hamill's masterful work made what could have been a typical mentor role
14:03into one of the most iconic performances in the franchise.
14:06Number 6,
14:07Darth Bane,
14:08Star Wars,
14:09The Clone Wars.
14:10Do you know who I am?
14:13Although Luke Skywalker has become one of the most iconic heroes of all time,
14:18Hamill's voice acting career primarily consists of villain roles.
14:22In a climactic episode of Star Wars The Clone Wars,
14:25Hamill got to turn to the dark side as the Sith Lord Darth Bane.
14:29You must kill me to gain my place.
14:33Fans of Bane,
14:35who had a rich history in the non-canonical expanded universe,
14:38were surely glad to see his canon appearance in The Clone Wars.
14:41The fact that Hamill provided the character's voice was just the icing on the cake,
14:46making for an unforgettable episode of the series.
14:49You do not fear me.
14:51No.
14:53Exist.
14:53You do not anymore.
14:56No.
15:05When Hayao Miyazaki's 1986 adventure film Castle in the Sky was first released in America,
15:10it received a hastily thrown together low-budget dub that failed to impress many.
15:15As Miyazaki started to gain a following in the United States, however,
15:18it received a much better voice dub,
15:20bringing in actors like Anna Paquin,
15:22James Van Der Beek,
15:23and, of course,
15:24Mark Hamill.
15:25The force of the sacred light has brought the robot back to life!
15:29As Colonel Muska,
15:30Hamill brought a sense of evil and despair to one of the few characters in Miyazaki's films
15:35that was wholly unredeemable,
15:37filled with greed and unrelenting ambition.
15:40At the same time,
15:41Muska was also an incredibly fun villain,
15:43and that's largely because Hamill is so good at being bad.
15:47Why don't you give me the stone and the girl will live?
15:49Otherwise, I'll kill her.
15:51Number 4.
15:51The Hobgoblin.
15:52Spider-Man.
15:54Name's Hobgoblin.
15:55And you're right on time for your funeral.
15:59It shouldn't come as a shock to anybody that Hamill,
16:02who has voiced a number of villainous comic book characters,
16:05appeared as one of Spider-Man's greatest foes in this awesome 90s cartoon.
16:09Finders, keepers, losers, weepers.
16:14In a show with a number of straight-laced villains,
16:17Hobgoblin stood out thanks to his unhinged nature,
16:20perfectly portrayed by Hamill's manic voice work.
16:22Sorry, but there's no profit to be made in my own annihilation.
16:27Hobgoblin proved to be a great foil for Spider-Man,
16:30as well as a number of other villains,
16:32betraying them and acting highly unpredictable every step of the way.
16:35This made him such an interesting and out-of-the-ordinary foe,
16:39and he stole every scene he was in.
16:42Talk, or I'll give your right-hand man his severance pay.
16:46Number 3.
16:47Fire Lord Ozai.
16:48Avatar, the last airbender.
16:50You will learn respect,
16:52and suffering will be your teacher.
16:56Airing on Nickelodeon,
16:58Avatar featured impactful themes and a number of complex characters.
17:02The show's main villain was no exception,
17:04and Hamill brilliantly portrayed a man
17:06obsessed with obtaining absolute power by any means necessary.
17:10You will obey me,
17:12or this defiant breath will be your last.
17:15As Ozai,
17:17Hamill managed to convey a terrifying and intimidating character
17:20bent on world domination,
17:21with little regard for anything other than his own ambition.
17:25I am the Phoenix King.
17:28He proved relentless in his pursuit for power,
17:31usurping the throne from his grieving brother,
17:34and literally scarring his son, Prince Zuko.
17:36Even when the Fire Lord was kept hidden in the shadows,
17:39Hamill's voice was more than enough to send a shiver up our spines.
17:43Get out!
17:44Number 2.
17:45Skips.
17:46Regular Show.
17:47You guys shouldn't be doing what you just did.
17:49Every once in a while,
17:51Hamill will play a good guy.
17:53And in the world of Regular Show,
17:55who is a better guy than Skips?
17:57Okay, I'm here.
17:58And I brought my days.
17:59More often than not,
18:01Mordecai and Rigby find themselves in a tough situation.
18:03So they call upon their immortal yeti friend to get them out of trouble.
18:06Climb up top, but don't press start until I say.
18:10Hamill manages to convey a wise and impressive figure
18:13that consistently seems to know the mysteries of the universe.
18:16It's no wonder that Skips has become such a popular character,
18:19with Hamill's zany attitude being a perfect fit for the show's surreal and off-the-wall style.
18:25Don't worry, we'll have this place cleaned up in no time.
18:27Right, Skips?
18:28Eh, I've seen worse.
18:29Number one, The Joker, the DC Animated Universe.
18:33You stink so bad, I can smell you from here.
18:38Few voice actors are as closely tied to iconic roles as Mark Hamill is to The Joker,
18:44playing the part in multiple films, TV shows, and video game adaptations for over three decades.
18:50Despite multiple highly accomplished voice actors playing the part before and since Hamill's take on the role,
18:55he will always be synonymous with the villain.
18:57Not on my show.
18:59Hamill manages to walk the tightrope between insane madman and devious mastermind with his frighteningly good voice work.
19:06Big old bats has fallen down.
19:10I'm so happy.
19:13His over-the-top devious laughter, bad puns, and general menace provide a perfect foil to Batman,
19:18or any number of other DC superheroes The Joker has gone up against over the years.
19:24Hello? Hello, operator?
19:26I believe my party's been disconnected.
19:31What's your favorite Mark Hamill vocal performance?
19:34Shout it out in the comments below.
