00:38administration to hold the plan to invade Cuba and put an end to the use of the naval
00:43peace in Guantanamo.
00:52Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from De Jesús Studios in Caracas,
00:57Venezuela. We begin with the news.
01:12Norway announced on Thursday that it will hold talks with Russia to address issues of
01:16security and stability in the Arctic region amid growing strategic interests in the area.
01:21According to the spokesperson for the Norwegian Armed Forces, Rune Harstad, both countries
01:26plan to hold military and strategic meetings with the goal of keeping communication channels
01:30open and preventing possible incidents in the far north. Norwegian authorities noted that
01:35this dialogue is part of the cooperation mechanisms that remain in place between Oslo and Moscow
01:41on border issues and regional security.
01:50A federal court in Washington has provisionally suspended the sanctions imposed in 2025 against
01:56Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Territories, one of the most courageous
02:01and persecuted voices in the international human rights system.
02:05The judge, Richard Leon, ruled that the sanctions constituted an unconstitutional violation of freedom
02:11of speech, as they were directed specifically against the content of the speaker's speech.
02:16According to Francesca Albanese herself, in his ruling, the judge emphasized that freedom
02:20of speech is always in the public interest.
02:23The measures imposed by the White House against the UN spokesperson even prevented her from using
02:28her credit cards, subjecting her to a financial freeze, and denying her access to her home in Washington.
02:34The spouse and daughter of the Special Rapporteur were responsible for filing this lawsuit,
02:39which has resulted in a favorable ruling for the Special Rapporteur.
02:50The final news one is real in the public.
03:15The President of the Palestinian National Council, Rouhi Fatou, stated that the measure violates the norms of international law and
03:22several UN Security Council resolutions.
03:24He also explained that using heritage as a colonial political tool to seize land and impose Israeli sovereignty over the
03:31occupied territories reveals intentions of ethnic cleansing.
03:35Fatou also denounced that these measures, in addition to imposing control over areas of the West Bank,
03:40constitute a direct attack on the sovereign rights of the Palestinian people.
03:45The President of the Palestinian National Council called on the international accord to take measures to stop the colonial crime.
03:58Medical sources in the Gaza Strip confirmed that the number of people killed during the Israeli regime's raids rose to
04:0472,744 and 172,588.
04:10injured since the start of the operation on October 7, 2023.
04:14They also added that over the past 24 hours, two civilians were admitted to the Gaza hospital with no vital
04:20signs,
04:20while another 24 people were injured due to the continuous attacks by the Israeli aggression.
04:37The Gaza Center for Humanitarian Rights reported that more than 13,000 children are facing serious consequences of acute malnutrition
04:46as a result of the humanitarian blockade on the coastal enclave.
04:49The organization warned that children need intensive treatment and immediate therapeutic food to avoid death or long-term health effects.
04:58Children affected by the conflict need quality food, which is why the agency requested that basic supplies be allowed into
05:05the Gaza Strip,
05:06also to help more than 2 million Palestinians.
05:17The U.S. and Chinese presidents met this Thursday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing during Donald
05:23Trump's first visit to the country in nine years.
05:25Xi Jinping proposed overcoming the two cities trap while warning that Trump and Taiwan could lead the two countries into
05:32conflict.
05:33Our correspondent in Beijing, Mauro Ramos, has more in the following work.
05:38We are leaving the very room where Chinese President Xi Jinping has just received U.S. President Donald Trump here
05:45at the Great People's Hall in Beijing.
05:46We were able to catch the opening minutes of this bilateral meeting, the first of several encounters the two heads
05:53of state will hold over these two days here in the Chinese capital.
05:57Trump is the very first U.S. President to visit China in nine years. The last one to do so
06:02was Trump himself back in 2017.
06:05In the days leading up to the visit, Washington imposed sanctions on Chinese refineries for buying Iranian oil.
06:12In an unprecedented move, China responded by activating an anti-sanctions law ordering its companies not to comply with the
06:20U.S. measures.
06:22During the opening remarks, the tone was starkly different.
06:26We're going to have a fantastic future together. Such respect for China, the job you've done. You're a great leader.
06:34I say it to everybody, you're a great leader.
06:37Sometimes people don't like me saying it, but I say it anyway because it's true. I only say the truth.
06:42Xi Jinping is known for citing authors in his speeches to foreign leaders. This time he chose a concept from
06:48a U.S. political scientist, the Thucydides Trap.
06:51The idea holds that the rising power will necessarily threaten an established one.
06:57Xi raised the question with Trump. Is it possible to escape that paradigm?
07:01Xi Jinping The question is, can China and the United States transcend the soul code to city destrap and pioneer
07:08a new parting of relations between major powers?
07:12Xi Jinping Can we join hands to address global challenges and inject greater stability into the world?
07:17Xi Jinping Can we advance the well-being of the peoples of our two countries and the future destiny of
07:22humanity?
07:23Xi Jinping Jointly building a better future for bilateral relations?
07:28Xi Jinping These are questions of history, questions of the world and questions of the people.
07:36Xi Jinping In the bilateral meeting, Xi Jinping warned Trump that if the Taiwan question is not his,
07:41Xi Jinping handled carefully, the two countries could face clashes and even conflicts, putting the entire relationship at risk.
07:49Xi Jinping Li Bo, president of the Tung Tio Institute, believes that making China's position on Taiwan clear is one
07:56of the main goals of this visit.
07:59Xi Jinping For China part, very important is to tell, to educate the American team, Taiwan is China's core interest.
08:11Xi Jinping And also to ask them to really reduce the delivery of the weapons system to Taiwan will give
08:22a really tough stance.
08:27Xi Jinping This is the main task, I would say.

09:37Xi Jinping The battle Iran has fought in defense of all of us, of the new war we are all
09:43building together.
09:44Xi Jinping The truth is that Iran, like many other independent nations, is a victim of illegal expansion and a
09:51war mongering policy.
09:53Xi Jinping Regional instability is a situation that is harmful for all parties, including the aggressors.

12:25in the form of cash or materials or and whether it will be allocated to the most urgent needs of
12:31the moment for the people, such as fuel, food and medicines, given the inconsistency of the apparent generosity on the
12:39part of those who subject the Cuban people to collective punishment through economic
12:44Xi Jinping The Cuban government does not, as a matter of practice, reject foreign aid offered in good faith and
12:51with genuine cooperative intentions, whether bilateral or multilateral.
12:57Xi Jinping Nor does it object to working with the Catholic Church with whose cooperative efforts it has a long
13:04and positive history of collaboration.
13:07Xi Jinping We are willing to hear the details of the offer and how they would be implemented.
13:12Xi Jinping We hope it will be free of political maneuvering and attempts to exploit the hardships and suffering of
13:17a people under siege.
13:18Xi Jinping The best hope that the U.S. government could give to the noble Cuban people now and at
13:23any time is to de-escalate the energy, economic, commercial and financial blockade measures, which have intensified like never before
13:31in recent months, severely affecting all sectors of the Cuban economy and society.

15:05the challenge of leading economic policy in a climate of high political polarization and growing doubts about the agency's independence.
15:12Xi Jinping The appointment comes at a critical moment due to the surge in inflation driven by rising oil prices
15:17following the conflict with Iran.
15:19Xi Jinping The latest economic reports revealed that wholesale prices rose by 6% in April exceeding all projections.
15:26Xi Jinping This situation complicates Warsh's job as he must decide whether to yield to President Donald Trump's pressure to

21:01principles which allowed them to move tons of cocaine and over $43 million through an apparently legal export network, especially
21:09in the banana sector.
21:10Xi Jinping One of the most alarming aspects of this investigation is the confirmation of links between the criminal organization
21:16and sectors of the security forces.
21:18Xi Jinping From a broader perspective, this finding brings back into focus doubts about the companies owned by President Daniel
21:25Noboa's family and the structural corruption plaguing that nation.

24:14do.
24:14Xi Jinping He would reflect and from there you take what you interpreted.
24:18Xi Jinping But in that sense, he was very affable.
24:21Xi Jinping I mean, I have incredible memories of Pepe.
