00:00Right now, where do we stand militarily?
00:02Who has the upper hand?
00:04Well, that phrase, the upper hand, or who has all the cards,
00:07is something we hear regularly from the White House.
00:10But I think the reality check here for Donald Trump
00:12is that he doesn't control the situation.
00:16He has been misguided in believing that somehow he could trigger a regime change,
00:22perhaps similar to what he achieved in Venezuela.
00:26That clearly isn't going to happen.
00:28And much as the conventional forces have absolutely been destroyed,
00:33it does not take many assets, Iran has learned,
00:37to actually cause havoc in the Straits of Hunus
00:40with such economic consequences
00:42that have prompted countries like Britain and France,
00:45indeed 40 other nations, to say,
00:47hang on, we now need to step in and try and make this place safe.
00:50But there is no chance whatsoever, I think,
00:52given where Donald Trump has gone,
00:54that he's going to be able to then rekindle this war
00:58because Congress will not support it.
01:00One of the limitations that we still see working in America
01:04is the fact that the executive can only take America to war
01:08for, I think it's a 60-day period.
01:11That period ran out, and that's why the operation was declared end.
01:17But we see that there's such disjoint between what Iran wants
01:23and what America wants at the moment.
01:26And the fallout of that is that the rest of the world
01:28has to pick up the pieces,
01:30which is what, as I say, Britain and France and other countries
01:32are now seeking to do.
01:34We'll see that there's an interesting question.
