00:00Declassification and release of critical intelligence revealing shocking vulnerabilities in our election
00:07infrastructure.
00:09President Donald Trump has released a collection of declassified intelligence documents about
00:14foreign threats to U.S. elections.
00:16So, what is actually inside them?
00:19One set of documents says, China obtained data connected to around 220 million American
00:24voters including names, addresses and political affiliations.
00:28But officials familiar with the intelligence say much of that information was non-confidential
00:34voter registration data that campaigns and political groups can also obtain.
00:38Other documents show U.S. intelligence agencies examined whether China planned to use the data
00:44for influence or intelligence operations during the 2020 election.
00:49However, a declassified CIA assessment concluded that Beijing ultimately did not pursue an operation
00:56aimed at changing the election result.
00:58The files also include intelligence about alleged manipulation of electronic voting systems
01:03in Venezuela.
01:04Those documents describe potential weaknesses in voting technology, but they concern Venezuelan
01:10elections and do not show that votes were changed in the United States.
01:13Another assessment included in the release says, manipulating U.S. vote counting systems
01:19on a scale large enough to alter a national election would be extremely difficult.
01:24So far, the publicly released files reveal genuine concerns about voter data, foreign influence,
01:29and voting technology.
01:31But they do not provide evidence that China or another country changed U.S. ballots, vote totals,
01:37or the outcome of the 2020 election.
