01:00بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
01:04ألف لامرى
01:10كتاب أنزلناه إليك لتخرج الناس من الظلمات إلى النور بإذن ربهم إلى صراط العزيز الحميد
01:29The glorious Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, in segments.
01:35He would instruct his scribes, who were among the great companions, may Allah be pleased with them all,
01:42to write down each fresh ayah and put it in its respective surah.
01:46The Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, used to encourage his companions to read the Qur'an,
01:53memorize it, and write it down.
01:55Some of the companions were famous for teaching the Qur'an to others.
02:00The Messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, had not departed this world before the whole Qur'an
02:07had been written in his presence over available materials such as parchments and scrolls.
02:13The care for writing the glorious Qur'an, acting on it, and spreading its teachings has been a prophetic tradition
02:20that was inherited by the rightly guided caliphs.
02:25During the era of the caliph Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him,
02:30the whole Qur'an was collected in sheets with all the surahs and ayahs put in order in one complete
02:36copy.
02:37It was kept with Abu Bakr during his caliphate, then transferred to the caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah
02:45be pleased with him, until he died.
02:48Then it was kept by Hafsa, may Allah be pleased with her, who was the wife of the Prophet, may
02:54Allah's peace and blessings be upon him.
02:56In the time of the caliph Uthman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him,
03:01all Muslims had one copy or Mus'haf, which then was made into several copies to be distributed around the
03:09Muslim lands at that time.
03:11These copies were known as the Uthmani copies of the Qur'an.
03:16Later, they became the originals for the following copies until today.
03:21In this well-preserved tradition, the Book of Allah has reached us full, safe from any deletion or addition.
03:28It has been kept in hearts and in written copies, free from any alteration or modification.
03:35Over the ages, Allah provided for this glorious Book people who would care for its text and science,
03:42so as to prove the everlasting divine miracle of preserving this revelation.
03:48Allah, may glory be to him, said,
03:50Surely we have revealed the reminder, and we will most surely be its guardian.
03:56The care for writing the glorious Qur'an after the 1st century Hijra had taken various manifestations.
04:02Over the years, a group of calligraphers excelled in the artistry and beauty of writing the Qur'an.
04:09Copies were written in the Kufi calligraphy until the 5th century Hijra,
04:12then were written in the Thuluth calligraphy until the 9th century Hijra.
04:17After the 9th century, the Qur'anic writing has maintained the Nasch calligraphy until today.
