00:00Look, you knew when the Knicks and their fans destroyed the 76ers,
00:04something big was about to go down in Philly.
00:08Nick Nurse is a quality coach and a man.
00:10I don't wish for him to be fired, but when you lose in this fashion,
00:15everybody is under the microscope and everybody is gonna get looked at.
00:18It's just funny, like, yeah, let's fire Nick Nurse and go hire like Thibodeau or
00:21Jamal Mosey, who just got fired for doing the same thing Nurse did.
00:24It's just a cesspool.
00:25It's a recycling game.
00:26It is, it's ridiculous.
00:28Listen, I think it was pretty easy to predict here how this was ultimately going to go.
00:35And I am always pleasantly surprised when something actually goes right for the Philadelphia 76ers.
00:41Beg it, Darryl Morey.
00:43Something had to happen because it wasn't just a Knicks sweep, which is bad enough.
00:48It was the Knicks going into Philly and stealing the soul here.
00:53Stealing the soul of the Philadelphia 76ers.
00:58When you look at all the fans and you look at all the, the ass kickings and the lopsided scores.
01:03Something needed to happen.
01:05Darryl Morey, to me, has always been a myth.
01:10The most overrated executive in the history of the NBA.
01:14I thought that he was, you know, frankly, and he had a lot of water carriers in the press in
01:21Houston.
01:22A lot of people who, you know, do what I do for a living.
01:26Oh, Darryl Morey could do no wrong.
01:28That Houston team was built brilliantly.
01:30I was always a bunch of noise and a bunch of nonsense.
01:34And then he goes to Philadelphia and the first thing that he does is he trades for James Harden.
01:39He knew the Harden story from Houston.
01:41A tremendous player, but he's a handful.
01:43He can't win with them.
01:44And he traded for him.
01:45It was the deal, obviously, with Brooklyn, the Ben Simmons trade.
01:49And that was a whole mess.
01:51And Harden called him a liar.
01:52And would he get the extension?
01:54And Morey wouldn't give it to him.
01:55You know, you made a deal with the devil that you knew.
01:57People say, oh, the devil you know is better than the devil you don't.
01:59In this case, Harden was the literal devil here for Darryl Morey.
02:04And I blame Morey for looking at it and saying, this is going to be different somehow in Philadelphia.
02:08So that turned into a debacle.
02:10That turned into a disaster.
02:12Then you look at the Paul George contract, which is asinine.
02:15The Joel Embiid contract, the extension, which made no sense.
02:19You're never going to win with Joel Embiid.
02:21I mean, this is like a Post Malone situation.
02:26Circles.
02:27You just keep going round and around and around.
02:30Congrats to the next GM of the Sixers, who ultimately is going to get fired because he's
02:37going to have Joel Embiid on his team.
02:39And I honestly think Joel Embiid is untradeable because he's never available and he's a losing
02:45ball player and there was no process.
02:47And he brings his kid to the press conference to be a shield because he's losing in the second
02:53round again.
02:54I mean, I would trade Joel Embiid.
02:56That would be my first thing that I would do.
02:58If I'm Bob Myers, who's running this search for Josh Harris, who is completely overmatched
03:04as a team owner, I mean, I would tell the next general manager, you must trade Joel Embiid.
03:10And I'm struggling to find a team that would take him.
03:14Maybe it's someone that takes a flyer.
03:16I acknowledge the talent for Embiid, but obviously a losing ball player.
03:19Maybe it's someone who, like the Golden State Warriors, doesn't care about what they pay
03:24for the contract and luxury tax and the second apron.
03:27Maybe it's someone who needs to sell tickets like the Clippers.
03:31Maybe it's the Brooklyn Nets.
03:33It's very difficult to find some kind of match here.
03:37But, I mean, this is why Darryl Morey had to go.
03:39Not to mention, he made the Jerry McClain deal, which we went nuts on when they made it
03:44because it made no sense.
03:45This gave him away haphazardly at the trade deadline.
03:49And now he's a bucket getter for OKC.
03:52Morey has no idea what the hell he's doing.
03:55But I'm happy Nick Nurse is staying.
03:56He's a championship coach.
03:57I am truly happy that Maxie is on the Sixers.
04:02I'm truly happy that Edgecombe's on the Sixers.
04:04These are terrific, young, energized, intelligent ballplayers who are guys who, in theory,
04:12would be linchpins to building something special.
04:15But it's impossible to feel great about anything with Philadelphia as long as you have Joel Embiid.
04:24I mean, I don't see anyone taking him.
04:26Paul George, that contract's, you know, unmovable.
04:30Why would you ever, and we killed him at the time, why would you bring in Paul George?
04:36I mean, podcast pee instead of playoff pee?
04:40Never gets it done when it matters the most?
04:42I mean, this is, it makes no sense.
04:44So I'm happy that they made a change.
04:46They had to.
04:47We made this point on Shine Time the other day.
04:50It's like the Boston series never even happened.
04:53And you can make the case that Philly in some way, shape, or form overachieved based upon injury
04:59and issues during the regular season.
05:01They beat Boston.
05:02It was amazing.
05:03It was stunning.
05:04But how they lost to the Knicks, heads needed to roll.
05:08You couldn't just run it back in Philadelphia.
05:10So that, that was a disaster.
05:13A total disaster of a way that the season finished.
05:17Darryl Morey, to me, is as overrated as an executive you could ever find in the history
05:23of sports.
05:23And he has to go.
05:25And I think it's the right move.
05:27I know it's the right move.
05:28But the issues in Philadelphia are so much more and run so much deeper than what we have
05:35when you look at just, you know, shifting outs one exec for another.
05:39You have to have a cleansing.
05:42This team cannot function until Joel Embiid is an ex-Philadelphia 76er.
05:50This team cannot function until Joel Embiid is an ex-Philadelphia 76er.
