00:00The author of a new book about Princess Kate is shedding some light on what he says is a very
00:06difficult dynamic between Prince William and Prince Harry, which reportedly began a long time
00:13before Meghan Markle ever came on the scene. Christopher Anderson, the man behind the book
00:18Kate, The Courage, Grace and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen, has opened up to page six
00:24about the complex inner workings of the sibling relationship and rivalry between William and
00:30Harry. Anderson says that while many people blame Meghan for the incredibly difficult rift between
00:37William and Harry, the two brothers never actually had a particularly simple relationship from the
00:44off. Anderson points towards the fact that William was always raised as the future monarch, claiming
00:50that Harry was made to feel less than because he was never really meant to ascend to the throne one
00:57day. According to Anderson, this made for some very difficult dynamics between the two brothers,
01:03particularly because Harry grew up with what Anderson describes as something of a chip on his
01:08shoulder, knowing that he always was considered second best to his older brother. Now, Harry himself
01:14actually opened up about this complex relationship in his book Spare, in which he opened up about what
01:21it really meant to be raised as nothing more than a spare heir. Effectively, Harry said that William was
01:27always deemed the star in the royal family because he was the one who everyone focused their energies on,
01:34knowing that he needed to be trained correctly so that he could one day ascend to the throne and become
01:40king in as effective a manner as possible. But as we've seen, this has led to some rather
01:46uncomfortable feelings on Harry's part, much of which he detailed in that bombshell memoir. Elsewhere in
01:52the book, Anderson also tackled the relationship between Prince William and his father, King Charles.
01:58Now, outwardly, the two men have enjoyed what looks to be a very close connection that has, if anything,
02:04only been strengthened by William and Charles' fallout with Harry. However, Anderson says that, again,
02:11that relationship is far from easy. He notes that while William has a reputation for being incredibly kind
02:17and courteous to members of staff, members of the public, and his own family, the one person who he tends
02:24to unleash his terrifying temper on is Charles. Anderson claims that Charles has, at times, been afraid of
02:33William's temper because he knows that he is the only one who William will ever really express his angry
02:38feelings towards. Now, William and Charles have had to navigate some incredibly difficult situations
02:44in recent years, beginning with Harry and Meghan's exit from the royal family and moving on to former
02:51Prince Andrew's scandal regarding his relationship with Epstein. William is said to have been the proponent
02:57who was pushing for Andrew to be exiled from the royal family. And it's understood that there were some
03:03heated conversations between the prince and his father during this time. It's unclear, however,
03:08if William ever let rip in a way that Anderson is describing, but he's said to have been the driving
03:14force behind many of the most controversial changes in the royal family in recent history.
03:19And while the book does focus on Kate, Anderson does not hold back when he refers to other members of
03:26the royal family. In fact, he explores almost every dynamic between every senior working royal,
03:31including Queen Camilla and Princess Kate. Anderson alleges that Queen Camilla actually opposed
03:38William's marriage to Kate because she felt that Kate was, quote unquote, too common. These days,
03:45it looks very much like Queen Camilla and Kate enjoy a very amicable relationship. However,
03:50Anderson says that was not always the case and that Camilla voiced early concerns that Kate would not
03:56be able to fit into the royal family dynamic because she had not been raised in the appropriate way.
04:01Luckily, the two women appear to have smoothed over any tension. And I think we can all agree that Kate
04:07has exhibited far more grace than anyone else ever could. Long live Queen Kate.
