00:16Alex Murdoch, the disgraced legal scion who was found guilty in 2023 of brutally killing his wife
00:22and son, had his murder convictions overturned on May 13th by the South Carolina Supreme Court.
00:28The shocking twist came after the court claimed that Colleton County Court Clerk Rebecca Hill,
00:34once viewed as sweet homespun Miss Becky, had quote, placed her fingers on the scales of justice.
00:4057-year-old Murdoch was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences without parole for the grisly 2021
00:47murders of his wife Maggie and their 22-year-old son Paul, following a dramatic six-week trial
00:53that gripped the nation. The Supreme Court's ruling is the latest twist for Murdoch,
00:57whose trial was widely publicized and featured in crime documentaries and podcasts.
01:02On top of his now-overturned two life terms for the double murders, the disgraced lawyer also
01:08separately pleaded guilty to dozens of financial crimes, where he is serving 27-year and 40-year
