00:00:30If we don't realize it now, we're never going to realize it.
00:00:33Absorb and ignore the pain.
00:00:36Malenstein runs right over top.
00:00:39Keep making saves. That's my mentality.
00:00:41All it takes is everything you've got.
00:00:49Tonight in Montreal, game four of the second-round series
00:00:52between the Buffalo Sabres and the Montreal Canadiens.
00:00:55From Bell Centre, where we'll have the usual 21,000 inside
00:00:59and just as many watching outside on three giant screens.
00:01:04The Habs lead this series two games to one
00:01:06after their win on home ice here Sunday night.
00:01:09Alex Newhook scored two goals for the second game in a row.
00:01:13Cole Caulfield ended a five-game pointless drought
00:01:16with the first of two Montreal Power Play goals.
00:01:19The other on a tip-in by Uri Slavkovsky.
00:01:22The Canadiens beat the Sabres 6-2.
00:01:26And it's on to game four.
00:01:29It's been a rough two games for Taige Thompson of the Sabres,
00:01:32but a win tonight.
00:01:33And it's an even series, and home ice advantage shifts back to Buffalo.
00:01:42You're watching the Stanley Cup playoffs on ESPN,
00:01:45presented by Geico.
00:01:52The sell-out crowd awaiting the arrival of the torch,
00:01:57and they can see on the big screen at center ice,
00:02:00it's Montreal legend Guy Carboneau,
00:02:03two times a Stanley Cup champion with the Habs.
00:02:07He was the captain of their last team
00:02:09to win the Stanley Cup back in 1993.
00:02:26Hockey Hall of Famer,
00:02:27three times the winner of the Selkie Trophy,
00:02:30as the best defensive forward in the NHL.
00:02:50And they're ready for the arrival of a Montreal team
00:02:54that has ignited this city even more
00:02:58with their back-to-back wins.
00:03:00For the first time in these playoffs,
00:03:02they've won two in a row.
00:03:04Led by Jakob Dobish.
00:03:08And the mission of the league is in trouble.

00:12:55It'll be interesting to see how many defensemen Lindy Ruff plays tonight will Shen get a regular shifter really roll
00:13:02mostly with 5
00:13:04When Timmons and one rather Stanley was out due to illness in game six against Boston Michael Kesselring drew in
00:13:11but he didn't play very much
00:13:13I think it's gonna be much the same as what Montreal does they roll 5
00:13:17Montreal rules in Jack I on
00:13:20Every second or third rotation through and I think we'll see the same thing with Shen

00:14:24Тейдж-Thompson scored less than a minute in for Buffalo in game three, ending a seven-game goalless drought, his
00:14:30longest since January of 2024.
00:14:33He had a goal and an assist, but wound up minus two for the game.
00:14:36And Tate Thompson is minus seven in three games for Buffalo.
00:14:42Played up by Shen, seeing his first playoff action as a Buffalo Sabre.
00:14:47As Ray said, he's played in 59 playoff games.
00:14:50He won a couple of Stanley Cups with Tampa Bay.
00:14:53Pitched into the corner by Coffey.
00:14:55He'll get there first ahead of Owen Power.
00:14:58That's picked off by Bowen Byram.
00:15:01Caulfield took it away.
00:15:02Has Suzuki at the bottom of the circle.
00:15:04Now he goes down.
00:15:05Crown wants a trip on Byram.
00:15:07They're not going to get it.
00:15:09Slavkovsky missed the point man, Matheson.
00:15:11And it's retrieved by Carrier.
00:15:14Forced back by Zach Benson.
00:15:17Celebrating his 21st birthday for Buffalo.
00:15:21They have had a run of birthdays.
00:15:24Alex Tuck turned 32 nights ago.
00:15:27Helen Usu's in tonight.
00:15:30The youngest player in the game turned 20 yesterday as he makes his playoff debut tonight.
00:15:34Tuck down to the bottom of the circle and he shot it wide.
00:15:38Connor Timmons out with Darlene.
00:15:40One-timer.
00:15:42Krebs was straining out in front.
00:15:44Retrieved by Thompson.
00:15:46Timmons dumped it in.
00:15:47And then he took a check from Anderson up high.
00:15:52Here is Josh Anderson.
00:15:54Trying to get it to Texier.
00:15:56Darlene intercepted.
00:15:58Tuck.
00:15:58No points in the series.
00:15:59Good shot.
00:16:00Kicked out.
00:16:01Follow-up shot.
00:16:02Blocked in the slot by Deneau.
00:16:04Off the try by Helen Usu.
00:16:06The 20-year-old rookie from Finland.
00:16:09A first-round pick two years ago.
00:16:11Played in ten games.
00:16:12Rather, nine games in the regular season.
00:16:14This is his tenth.
00:16:16Got called up from Rochester in mid-January.
00:16:19Played with the Sabres till early February.
00:16:22Played in one game here.
00:16:24His third NHL game.
00:16:26And he says that should help him tonight.
00:16:28He's been in this building.
00:16:29He's been a part of the atmosphere.
00:16:33Here's Jason Zucker trying to cut.
00:16:35He centers.
00:16:36And a shot by Samuelson right on to Matthias' shot.
00:16:40Handled by Dobish.
00:16:43In game three, Rasmus Darlene had a goal.
00:16:46A power play marker.
00:16:47If the Sabres are going to get back into the series and level this out, Darlene's got to be great.
00:16:51Here he gets a chance from the point through all kinds of traffic.
00:16:56Trying to...
00:16:56It deflects off of Dobish and Dobish with the stop.
00:17:00Watch how Darlene stays up in the play here.
00:17:02This puck will get clear at the center.
00:17:04The Sabres need to check forward as much as they can.
00:17:08Cut the ice in half.
00:17:09Darlene starts the rush.
00:17:10And Alex Tuck, who said he played his worst defensive game in game three, gets a chance.
00:17:15But that's all off of the captain's work early in game four.
00:17:19Going by him.
00:17:20Malenstein.
00:17:21That's off the glove of Dobish and into the corner.
00:17:24Excellent chance for the fourth line.
00:17:26Now centered by Ryan McLeod.
00:17:29With Malenstein on the right and Greenway on the left.
00:17:33This should make it a much more effective fourth line with McLeod in the middle.
00:17:37He needs to skate, get going in a straight line.
00:17:39And the Sabres need to get a little juice out of all four of their lines.
00:17:42And when he was between Zucker and Quinn, they hadn't done very much.
00:17:47They had one goal combined in the playoffs.
00:17:50That was from McLeod, the power play goal.
00:17:53Greenway had it bounce off his stick.
00:17:56Charging the other way, Jake Evans.
00:17:58He goes around Byron.
00:18:00Couldn't get to power before Owen moved the puck to Jordan Greenway.
00:18:05Six minutes gone by, no score.
00:18:09This is the deepest we've gone into any of the four games of this series without a goal.
00:18:15Power.
00:18:16Locked up high.
00:18:18By Bolduc.
00:18:20He sends it back for Joe Valeno.
00:18:22With Dobson, the defenseman, charging toward the net.
00:18:25It never did get through to Noah.
00:18:27Here's Josh Norris the other way for Josh Dohm.
00:18:32Bobbled it, but got him up to Norris.
00:18:34They score!
00:18:36Matias Samuelsson off a beautiful feed by Norris.
00:18:40And Buffalo has the lead, 1-0.
00:18:45The Sabres at their best.
00:18:47They talk about getting four up in the rush.
00:18:49And that means one of those D has to get up in the rush.
00:18:53But you can't get up in the rush unless you enter with control.
00:18:56Matt Josh Dohm makes a terrific play here.
00:18:59He holds the puck, pulls it through his feet.
00:19:02Watch the control through the blue line.
00:19:04He loses it.
00:19:05Thanks for that.
00:19:06And Samuelsson, who comes from the left side, all the way across the ice.
00:19:11He's on his right side.
00:19:1313 goals in the regular season.
00:19:15He's opened up.
00:19:16He's ready for the pass.
00:19:17Man, that's a beauty for Norris.
00:19:19Through traffic.
00:19:20Across the seam with Benson driving the middle.
00:19:23And Samuelsson gives the Sabres a 1-0 lead.
00:19:29His first point of the series.
00:19:31First point as well for Norris.
00:19:35And the Sabres score first as they did in game three.
00:19:39Here they come again.
00:19:41Tuck shot.
00:19:42Stopped by Dobish.
00:19:43Shot attempts are 12-2 for Buffalo.
00:19:46Now 13.
00:19:47Tuck put another one on goal.
00:19:49And it's skated out after Darlene misplayed the puck on the line.
00:19:53Then he took it back.
00:19:54And re-enters.
00:19:55Peyton Prem shoved against the wall by Slavkovsky.
00:19:59It's moved along by Thompson.
00:20:00And picked up by Suzuki.
00:20:03Having trouble with the puck and being badgered by Tuck, who took it away.
00:20:07Oh, that's a great effort by Tuck.
00:20:09No penalty.
00:20:10Coming back to bother Suzuki and turning the puck over.
00:20:14Here's the trailer.
00:20:15Power with some room.
00:20:17Centering pass.
00:20:18That's off Connor Timmons and wide.
00:20:20As the defenseman went crashing to the net front.
00:20:24Nearly tipped one in to an empty side of the net.
00:20:27Man, Buffalo's D, I think, has to be the strength of their team.
00:20:31We've seen Darlene, Power, and of course Samuelson with the goal that have been up in the rush already.
00:20:35Bouncing puck for Alex Texier.
00:20:38The goal, Samuelson, his third of the playoffs.
00:20:41First of this series from Norris and Doan.
00:20:44That's five points now for Doan in this series to lead all players on either team.
00:20:51Donoa take away.
00:20:52Then Texier lost it to Samuelson.
00:20:55Hellenus with some room.
00:20:56Dropped it for Quinn.
00:20:59Now Hellenus to the net front.
00:21:01And the follow-up by Quinn stopped by Dovish as well.
00:21:06Buffalo looks terrific here in the first eight minutes and has a 1-0 lead.
00:21:13The changes have done the job early for Buffalo.
00:21:16They want it to be more aggressive.
00:21:17They want it to get their D up into the play.
00:21:20Matias Samuelson takes the pass from Norris.
00:21:22And the Sabres have the 1-0 lead in game four.
00:21:29Welcome back to Montreal.
00:21:31So before Rasmus Dahlin became a Norris Trophy finalist, he got advice from a seven-time Norris Trophy winner, the
00:21:38Hall of Famer, Niklas Lidstrom.
00:21:39It was 2019, the Global Series in Sweden, and Lidstrom visits Darlene in the locker room.
00:21:45He looks at his stick and he's like, you know, that needs to be a couple inches longer.
00:21:49Darlene told him, whatever you say, I will do.
00:21:52He gave his stick a couple extra inches and he said he has not gone back to that shorter stick
00:21:58since.
00:21:58That obviously was his childhood idol.
00:22:01Pretty good guy to get some advice from.
00:22:04You know, Nik Lidstrom was called the perfect human.
00:22:07And it seemed pretty much everything he did was about right.
00:22:11To determine if the puck completely crossed the line on the last scoring opportunity by Buffalo.
00:22:16This was that rush by Helenas that came off the short side.
00:22:20He really drove to the front of the net nicely.
00:22:22And there's a chance for Jack Quinn on the rebound.
00:22:26And right before the commercial break, Dobish had to fight it off.
00:22:29And they're going to take a look to see if this puck had crossed the line.
00:22:36And they're looking on with interest on the Buffalo bench, hoping it's two to nothing.
00:22:47We are told that the Situation Room in Toronto told the officials to stop the action for a moment
00:22:57so a longer look can be taken.
00:23:00Well, we're going to get a look.
00:23:01Here's Quinn coming in on the rebound.
00:23:02And he's going to swat this backhand.
00:23:05Oh, it goes right into Dobish's glove.
00:23:10Of course, the trick will be, where's Dobish's glove?
00:23:13Can you see all of the puck over the goal line?
00:23:15Whoa!
00:23:18That's up in the top of his glove.
00:23:22I don't know.
00:23:22I don't...
00:23:23I don't know.
00:23:24Right there, you have to determine.
00:23:26Can you see the puck all the way over the goal line?
00:23:30Well, if it's in the netting, it seemed to me like it is.
00:23:34But was it conclusive?
00:23:35Let's bring in our expert, Dave Jackson.
00:23:38Good evening, Jax.
00:23:39Let's say you, my friend.
00:23:41Hey, Sean.
00:23:41It's important to remember the call on the ice was no goal.
00:23:44So we have to have absolute evidence to overturn that call on the ice.
00:23:49Yes, the puck's in the glove.
00:23:50The glove's red, and the goal line is red.
00:23:53So there's not a whole lot of contrast.
00:23:56You're right there looking down.
00:23:57Does the bottom of that black puck break that plane of the red goal line?
00:24:01That's a really tough call.
00:24:03You need to be 100% certain, and if not so, the call on the ice will remain no goal.
00:24:10We're still taking a long look at it in Toronto and here in Montreal as well.
00:24:17Well, I would say, how conclusive is conclusive?
00:24:20Because I put about 97% on it that went all the way in.
00:24:23It should be a goal, but it's not 100% conclusive.
00:24:28I don't know if you would concur with that, Ray.
00:24:30Yeah, I mean, my...
00:24:33My gut tells me it's all the way over the line, but I can't say conclusively that it is.
00:24:38I'd be very surprised.
00:24:40My word is I would be surprised if they change this given if that's the last angle they have.
00:24:46I don't know that it's conclusive enough.
00:24:50I don't know if that's what it is.
00:24:50And they're up hoping to catch a break here early.
00:24:53And Quinn squats this in.
00:24:55You see, Hellenus has already gone through the picture.
00:24:57He made a really good net drive.
00:24:59So there's the puck.
00:25:01You can clearly see it.
00:25:02You can see the writing on it.
00:25:04Man, the cameras are awesome.
00:25:05и Довеш has made the save
00:25:07now you have to marry that with the view
00:25:10from above and whether that entire
00:25:12puck is across the line or not
00:25:23again as Dave said you know the call on the ice
00:25:26is no goal
00:25:28and so that means the weight of
00:25:30evidence has to be the other way if they're going to
00:25:32flip it
00:25:33Образовый художник.
00:25:33They've been over here in London,
00:25:34I would say to you and to Jacks,
00:25:36if it was conclusive,
00:25:37it would have been determined to be so by now.
00:25:41Yeah.
00:25:41I would agree.
00:25:44And after that last look,
00:25:45now I'm not quite as sure,
00:25:46I'm going to back down from the 97%.
00:25:50So where are we now?
00:25:52In the 80s.
00:25:54But I don't think it's conclusive.
00:25:59Let's bring in Jacks again.

00:32:18I liked it.
00:32:21So it's 1-0.
00:32:23And there'll be plenty to talk about after the game for both sides.
00:32:27Here's Slavkovsky, a shot blocked by Owen Power.
00:32:31Good stick on a long reach by Power.
00:32:34And now the puck out of the rink with 11.13 to go in the first period.
00:32:40The quest begins with the Buffalo Sabres.
00:32:44Believe in yourself, believe in your teammate.
00:32:45Go behind the scenes with one team
00:32:48for each round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
00:32:52Quest for the Stanley Cup, only on NHL YouTube.
00:32:57Martin St-Louis was, I wouldn't say concerned,
00:33:00but aware that they scored six goals the other night.
00:33:03Everybody felt really good in Montreal.
00:33:05And he knew tonight was going to be a different story.
00:33:08It's a new page.
00:33:09It's a new story.
00:33:09And the Sabres have come out and really turned the page early here.
00:33:13This has been a terrific road start for the Sabres.
00:33:16And Lindy Ruff and the players were confident that they would.
00:33:19He said we faced a lot of challenges all year.
00:33:22We've responded all year.
00:33:23Noah Dobson.
00:33:24Thorough crowd blocked by Lukanen and cleared.
00:33:32Hudson out on defense with Dobson.
00:33:35Head man to Texier.
00:33:37Taken to the boards by Timmons.
00:33:39Turned the other way by Thompson.
00:33:42And now Dobson.
00:33:44Out on defense now with Matheson as Hudson has gone off.
00:33:54Samuelson the goal, his third from Norris and Doan.
00:33:56That's a five-game point streak for Doan, matching the longest of his career.
00:34:02He had one earlier this season, back in December and January,
00:34:06in the regular season, obviously.
00:34:08Here's Matheson with some room.
00:34:09He dangles.
00:34:10That one winds up up off the netting.
00:34:14Seemed to hit UPL.
00:34:15I'm not sure that he knew it until after it ricocheted up into the netting.
00:34:21Mike Matheson has really grown into a relied upon leader on this Canadian's team.
00:34:28This wrist shot hits the crossbar.
00:34:31It goes through Zucker's block attempt.
00:34:34Beats, look at it, and hits the crossbar and ends up in the netting.
00:34:38Having a halfs that close to tying the game at one.
00:34:43Newhook on the faceoff with McLeod.
00:34:46Montreal has dominated the faceoffs more than 60%.
00:34:51Faceoff win percentage over the first three games.
00:34:55Byram to McLeod.
00:34:56The wall needing some help from Allenstein.
00:34:59They couldn't clear.
00:34:59All alone down low.
00:35:01And Evans missed the net.
00:35:03Now Newhook scores!
00:35:04Alex Newhook on fire!
00:35:09It's 1-1!
00:35:26Six goals in the last four games for Newhook.
00:35:29This puck 100% has to get out of the zone.
00:35:33And when it doesn't, the Sabres' defense can't leave before it's out.
00:35:40Matthias Samuelsson, who comes back late, he was way up, leaving, leading the rush.
00:35:45Thinking that puck was getting out of the net, out of the zone.
00:35:49When it didn't, now they have to react and recover.
00:35:52They can't get there quick enough.
00:35:54What a sweet pass by Jake Evans.
00:35:57And Newhook's everywhere in front of the net.
00:35:59He's got another one.
00:36:00And it's 1-1.
00:36:02An incredible story of sixth of the playoffs.
00:36:06He had three in his first 40 career playoff games.
00:36:11Here's Buffalo on the attack again.
00:36:13Dawn couldn't get the centering pass.
00:36:15And it ricochets to Suzuki and across to Caulfield.
00:36:20Back-to-back two goal games for Newhook in games two and three.
00:36:24First Canadiens player with back-to-back multiple goal games in the playoffs since the great Mark Reckie back in
00:36:351997.
00:36:40The turnover inside the blue line.
00:36:42The Evans pass and the Newhook finish.
00:36:46The Canadians have tied this game at one here in game four.
00:36:51Stanley Cup playoffs on ESPN are presented by Geico.
00:36:55It feels good to have a winning team.
00:36:58It feels good to Geico.
00:37:06We're tied at one.
00:37:08On the goal by Alex Newhook.
00:37:10Time for game drivers.
00:37:12Brought to us by Geico.
00:37:13We talked earlier about Buffalo wanting to get four guys in the rush.
00:37:18Watch Matthias Samuelsson in the middle of the ice in that circle.
00:37:21He's starting to leave.
00:37:23But when Malenstein and McLeod don't get the puck out of the zone.
00:37:27Now he's got to turn and get back.
00:37:29Everything falls into chaos.
00:37:31And Buffalo doesn't defend the front of the net again.
00:37:34Newhook's in the right spot to take the Evans pass.
00:37:38So maybe a little over-aggressiveness by Samuelsson.
00:37:41The puck turns over and now they've got to chase back to their net.
00:37:44It's 1-1.
00:37:46For Evans and Demidoff.
00:37:49At 10-0-8.
00:37:52Marty Samuels singled out Demidoff for a terrific game.
00:37:56In game three.
00:37:58Here's Thompson trying to get around Dobson.
00:38:01And now T.H. Thompson with the room behind the net.
00:38:05Plays it for Tuck.
00:38:06Trying to move away from Dobson.
00:38:08Back for Thompson.
00:38:09Dalino on timer.
00:38:10Stopped by Dovesh.
00:38:12And flipped to the corner by Dobson.
00:38:14Tuck tried to lift the stick of Hudson.
00:38:17And Hudson won the puck.
00:38:21That's straight out of the rink or is it?
00:38:23No.
00:38:24It's deflected.
00:38:25Say the officials.
00:38:26And Dobson breathes a sigh of relief.
00:38:29And they are going to confer, however, the officials to make sure they got that call right.
00:38:39Kelly Sutherland gestured immediately.
00:38:41It was deflected.
00:38:42But he must not be sure as he's asking his teammates for help.
00:38:51I think what we heard was stick on stick.
00:38:55It looks like right there there's a little bit of connection of the puck with Tuck.
00:38:59And the puck flutters out over the glass.
00:39:03Dobson's just trying to shoot this off the glass.
00:39:06Tuck's chasing it down right there.
00:39:09The stick and puck are together.
00:39:11And tough to tell with the white tape.
00:39:13Oh, there it is.
00:39:14That's a great look right there.
00:39:15Yeah, but is it still on Dobson's stick now?
00:39:20I think they got the right call.
00:39:23And they think they did, too.
00:39:25Face off one by Buffalo.
00:39:28Byron down low.
00:39:30Tough angle shot by Zucker.
00:39:32Now he goes down.
00:39:34And there will be a penalty here.
00:39:37He certainly sold the call as well.
00:39:39It's a trip.
00:39:40No argument from Carrier.
00:39:42And Buffalo goes to the power play.
00:39:44A first man advantage opportunity of the night.
00:39:47Montreal penalty.
00:39:48Number 45.
00:39:50Two-minute minor tripping.
00:39:54It's good work from Zucker.
00:39:55He gets to the retrieval of the puck.
00:39:58The stick of Carrier's inside is skied in the shin pad.
00:40:02So Buffalo's power play that scored when Darlene scored in the second period.
00:40:05A wrist shot through traffic.
00:40:08They'll get the first crack of the game here.
00:40:10What was critical for their power play to be effective
00:40:13is winning this first draw.
00:40:15If they can win the draw, they're already set up.
00:40:18Don't forget, also, at 4-2, last game, they had a tremendous power play.
00:40:22Couldn't score.
00:40:23Moments later, Montreal made it 5-2.
00:40:25Interesting, it's Thompson to take the draw.
00:40:28He's been the worst in the playoffs among qualifiers.
00:40:31That's those who have taken at least 15% of their team's face-offs.
00:40:35He's 35%.
00:40:36But Buffalo controls this one.
00:40:39And now it's taken back and played out by Anderson.
00:40:42Anderson and Newhook killing the penalty to start with Matheson and Gooley.
00:40:49Buffalo won one for four in that power play in game three Sunday.
00:40:54The three for 12 in the series, improving not only in the numbers,
00:40:58but just in the way the power play looks and the opportunity is generated.
00:41:04And here comes a Buffalo penalty for interference.
00:41:08Darlene doesn't like it.
00:41:10Gooley went down.
00:41:11Darlene protesting, but to no avail.
00:41:22Buffalo penalty, number 26, two-minute minor, interferes.
00:41:30Darlene and Thompson are exchanging positions,
00:41:34and as Darlene goes to shield Gooley,
00:41:40his right foot takes the feet out of Gooley,
00:41:43and the interference call is made.
00:41:46So we'll get a little bit of four-on-four play
00:41:48and open up the ice again here for the next minute and 23 seconds.
00:41:57Newhook is on the ice, maybe not surprisingly.
00:41:59He's got great speed,
00:42:01and of course he's as hot as anyone else in the playoffs.
00:42:04And for Buffalo, they go with Doris and Doan,
00:42:07and I think Doan has been their best player in this series,
00:42:10most consistent,
00:42:11and they're out here with this four-on-four room.
00:42:15Feels like it's going to be one of those nights.
00:42:16Dave Jackson does agree with the calls.
00:42:19Darlene was looking out of the hallway as if he wasn't intending to interfere.
00:42:24So now four-on-four,
00:42:26some extra room for Hudson,
00:42:27who doesn't really need much.
00:42:28Tried to feed Newhook,
00:42:30and the pass didn't connect.
00:42:33Doan the other way.
00:42:34Byram,
00:42:35and now Doan.
00:42:38Power and Norris also out there for the Sabres.
00:42:41Byram, a one-tire,
00:42:42and a stop sliding across by Dobish.
00:42:45There was no whistle.
00:42:47The puck came free for a moment,
00:42:48and now he covers it.
00:42:52Good read by Dobish.
00:42:54When that puck comes up to the top to power,
00:42:57look at him,
00:42:57he's giving a shot to Norris in front of the net with his blocker,
00:43:02and his Byram shot squeaks through.
00:43:04He's fortunate that he's able to jump on it again,
00:43:06because Norris has sniffed this out that the puck's loose,
00:43:09and he's going to be the first guy to it.
00:43:11But Dobish,
00:43:12with a little help from his D,
00:43:13is able to cover it up.
00:43:17Look at him,
00:43:17he's battling away with Norris in front of the net.
00:43:20Dobish will get involved.
00:43:21He's kind of an emotional goaltender,
00:43:23and if I'm Buffalo,
00:43:24I want to squeeze him as much as I can.
00:43:28Top of the circle,
00:43:29Krebs in a dangerous spot.
00:43:31Handed it off to Byram.
00:43:33Deneau pestering him,
00:43:35thrown toward the net,
00:43:35free puck.
00:43:37Moved out by Anderson,
00:43:39and now he harasses Samuelson,
00:43:41who has the Buffalo goal,
00:43:43and then Newhook tied it.
00:43:44Krebs with his fifth of the series and sixth of the playoffs.
00:43:48Byram.
00:43:49Watched by Deneau.
00:43:51Out in front.
00:43:51Good catch.
00:43:52And then a backhand wide by Krebs,
00:43:54who still doesn't have a point in this series,
00:43:57nor does Tuck.
00:44:01Matheson the takeaway.
00:44:03He goes down.
00:44:04Krebs takes it away.
00:44:06This pass too far in front of Thompson.
00:44:08Krebs goes off.
00:44:11Carrier's coming out of the box in a second.
00:44:13He's out.
00:44:14Power play Montreal for 35 more seconds.
00:44:18So Greenway, with that in mind,
00:44:20tried to set it back and hit the linesman
00:44:21and came back to Jordan Greenway.
00:44:25Scaled the length of the ice by Samuelson.
00:44:28Down to 6.15 to go in the opening period.
00:44:31Tied at one.
00:44:33Buffalo trying to make franchise history.
00:44:36They've never rallied in a best-of-seven playoff series
00:44:39from a two-games-to-one deficit.
00:44:400-14 all-time.
00:44:44Up the wall and out.
00:44:45Cleared by Timmons.
00:44:49Slavkovsky played it back.
00:44:51The power play expires.
00:44:54Slavkovsky has four goals in the playoffs,
00:44:56all in the power play.
00:44:57He leads all players in these playoffs
00:45:01in power play goals.
00:45:05Pafield survived a check.
00:45:07Carrier scaled it in.
00:45:09High off the glass and down to Timmons on defense.
00:45:11Now with power, he lost the puck
00:45:14and took a hit from Valeno.
00:45:17Valeno led the Habs with five hits in game three.
00:45:22He's played well since entering the playoffs
00:45:25in this series.
00:45:30Zucker along the wall.
00:45:32They can't get it in deeper.
00:45:33It's cleared out.
00:45:34Shen having trouble with the puck.
00:45:36And now Valeno the other way.
00:45:38He's knocked down by Zucker.
00:45:41And there will be a call there.
00:45:43Crowd groaned for a moment
00:45:44when they thought they weren't going to get it.
00:45:47Then they cheered when they saw
00:45:48Kelly Sutherland's arm go up in the air.
00:45:52Zucker protesting.
00:45:54Not a good penalty for Zucker to take here.
00:45:57He's already knocked Valeno down.
00:45:59The puck is slid into the corner.
00:46:01And then he just continues his play.
00:46:03There's no reason to finish this.
00:46:05This is one of those penalties, Sean,
00:46:07we talked about earlier
00:46:08that the Sabres took too much in game three.
00:46:11They take another one in game four.
00:46:12It's not yet.
00:46:13It's right there.
00:46:201-1 here in game four
00:46:21as the Sabres try to even this series out.
00:46:23They've had a good start.
00:46:24Shots are 12-3.
00:46:26They get the game's first goal.
00:46:27It's Matias Samuelson.
00:46:28Nice pass from Morris.
00:46:30And he slams it into the net.
00:46:32This resulted in a nine-minute review.
00:46:34The goal did it cross the line.
00:46:36It did not.
00:46:37Was there goaltender interference?
00:46:39There was.
00:46:39That's wiped off the board.
00:46:41And shortly after,
00:46:42Alex Newhook takes the pass from Jake Evans.
00:46:47Newhook's fifth of the series.
00:46:49And it's 1-1.
00:46:53And a power play for Montreal.
00:46:55They scored twice.
00:46:57A man up in game three.
00:46:59Both of them in the second period.
00:47:02Well, we know that pup wants to end up
00:47:04in Hudson's hands
00:47:05if the Canadians can get it.
00:47:06And then when he goes across the blue line,
00:47:09they open all those chances up.
00:47:11One-timers for Demedal
00:47:13and Caulfield are their number one options.
00:47:16They're eight for 39 in the playoffs.
00:47:1918%.
00:47:25Here's Caulfield.
00:47:28Hudson had to move it quickly
00:47:30with Tuck approaching.
00:47:31And then Demedal could not handle the puck.
00:47:34And it's shot the length of the ice.
00:47:36And Lindy Ruff will get four new penalty killers on.
00:47:40With four and a half to go in the first period.
00:47:42Tied at one.
00:47:44Paulfield for Suzuki
00:47:46with some speed on the entry.
00:47:48Slavkovsky.
00:47:50Suzuki.
00:47:51Caulfield.
00:47:52Hudson.
00:47:53Beautiful puck moment.
00:47:55Demedal blast.
00:47:56The net came off
00:47:57just as the puck was heading toward the goal line.
00:48:04Boy, we have had a lot
00:48:07in these first 16 minutes.
00:48:10And the officials are having another conference
00:48:12about this.
00:48:14Man, these guys are going to know each other well
00:48:16by the end of the game.
00:48:16This shot, the flex
00:48:18off of Lukaden.
00:48:20It never does cross the line
00:48:21whether the net's there or not.
00:48:23Lukaden is going to pull this off the line.
00:48:25Demedal still looking for his first playoff goal.
00:48:28So, Marty St. Louis has said
00:48:31that he has done so much right.
00:48:33He doesn't cheat the game.
00:48:34He knows it will come.
00:48:35This puck hits off of Shen's shin pad
00:48:38off of Suzuki
00:48:40and then heads back towards the net.
00:48:42And it's another chaotic play.
00:48:45And it's 1-1 still.
00:48:48Well, I hope Dave Jackson's getting paid
00:48:50by the appearance tonight.
00:48:51Jax, what do you have?
00:48:52Sean, that's just a really interesting play.
00:48:54Buffalo's lucky he reached back
00:48:56and made that save
00:48:57because since the defensive team
00:48:58knocked the net off,
00:49:00that puck had to cross the line,
00:49:02they could have awarded a goal there
00:49:03even though the net was off.
00:49:04Defensive team knocked it off.
00:49:06All right, Jax, thank you.
00:49:09Under four minutes to go.
00:49:1150 on the power play now.
00:49:13Suzuki again with some speed.
00:49:15Demedal tried to get it through
00:49:16and could not.
00:49:18Intercepted and played out by McLeod.
00:49:20He's dangerous.
00:49:21Five shorthanded goals in the regular season
00:49:23which led the NHL.
00:49:25He missed the net on that shot.
00:49:29Here's Slavkovsky the other way.
00:49:33Off it goes to Demedal and now Suzuki.
00:49:39Now on set wide.
00:49:42By Demedal.
00:49:4418 seconds on the penalty to Zucker.
00:49:48Slavkovsky harassed by Malenstein
00:49:50and that forced a bad pass back to the point.
00:49:59Well, a lot of grumbling on the Canadians forwards
00:50:01when they come back to the bench here
00:50:03after that power play.
00:50:04Newhook cuts toward the net,
00:50:06found a little seam near the dot
00:50:08and put a shot right on.
00:50:10No one playing with more confidence
00:50:12in these playoffs than Newhook right now.
00:50:15When we're done here,
00:50:16it's on to Vegas.
00:50:17The Golden Knights and Anaheim Ducks
00:50:19series tied at two.
00:50:22Tomorrow night on TNT,
00:50:23game five between the Wild and the Avalanche.
00:50:26Colorado reclaimed control of that series
00:50:28with an impressive win in St. Paul last night.
00:50:30They can wrap up the series tomorrow.
00:50:33TNT will also have game five of this series
00:50:36back in Buffalo on Thursday night.
00:50:38The start of their doubleheader
00:50:39followed by game six in Anaheim
00:50:41between the Golden Knights and the Ducks.
00:50:46and the Ducks.
00:50:47Face-off win by Buffalo.
00:50:48The teams are at full strength
00:50:50with under three minutes to go
00:50:52in the first period.
00:50:55Free puck to Evans.
00:50:56Off it goes.
00:50:57Newhook.
00:50:58When you're hot,
00:50:59the puck finds you in great situations
00:51:02and it did there again for Newhook.
00:51:04Here comes Buffalo the other way.
00:51:07Byron played it off the wall.
00:51:08That got slowed by Anderson
00:51:11and it's possessed by Dovesh
00:51:13and then some pushing and shoving.
00:51:19Krebs got knocked down
00:51:20and then he got up
00:51:21and wanted to throw a couple of punches
00:51:24at Ball Duke
00:51:25and that continues to the back wall.
00:51:27They both are going to get at least one penalty.
00:51:31The officials have signaled them both
00:51:35to head to the box
00:51:36and then Dovesh was
00:51:38chirping away with Dove.
00:51:40The officials skated in between them.
00:51:46But Krebs and Bull Duke will go to the penalty box.
00:51:50It's the shot from Byron trickles into Dovesh.
00:51:53Now there's a swing by Matheson
00:51:56and then the scrum begins.
00:51:57There's Bull Duke dragging Krebs out of there.
00:52:00Krebs didn't take too kindly to that
00:52:02and he's going to pop them one pretty good
00:52:04and they both sit in the box.
00:52:09He's going to get up here and hit them
00:52:12pretty good with a pop there
00:52:14and then they end up in the back wall
00:52:16but it's a little four on four.
00:52:20So two each for Ruffing.
00:52:21It's 17-25.
00:52:23Krebs and Bull Duke.
00:52:25They'll be four on four.
00:52:27Big shot advantage for Buffalo.
00:52:3013-5.
00:52:32They carry the play particularly early.
00:52:34I think Buffalo would look at this
00:52:36at this point and say
00:52:38we've checked forward.
00:52:39We haven't been in our end.
00:52:41Remember back to game three
00:52:42it was inevitable.
00:52:43It felt like the Montreal was going to score.
00:52:45They spent so much time in the Sabres' end.
00:52:48This game does not look anything like game three.
00:52:51And I guess in many cases in a playoff
00:52:53the story of one game
00:52:55does not carry to the story of the next
00:52:57and this is a completely different looking game.
00:53:11Norris will take the draw.
00:53:16It's Jake Evans for Montreal.
00:53:19Clean win by Norris.
00:53:21And then the puck lost by Darlene up near the line.
00:53:27Darlene pursued by Evans
00:53:29who gets turned over to Hudson.
00:53:30Trying to get it back to Evans
00:53:31and Darlene got a stick on it.
00:53:34And now Byram.
00:53:37Got off to a hot start
00:53:38in these playoffs
00:53:40that has cooled off a bit lately.
00:53:43Norris dropped it back.
00:53:45Chuck lets it go and missed the net.
00:53:47Look out.
00:53:48Race for the puck.
00:53:49It's Hudson
00:53:50with Norris
00:53:51who can really skate getting back.
00:53:53Hudson
00:53:54down low.
00:53:55Tried to feed it
00:53:56to Anderson
00:53:57and it did not connect.
00:54:00Now Gurley and Gabe
00:54:01battling from his knees
00:54:03with Byram.
00:54:05Tuck sends it to an open corner
00:54:07with a minute 45
00:54:08to go on the period
00:54:09and 110 on the 4-on-4.
00:54:11And Buffalo
00:54:12probably pretty fortunate
00:54:13that Norris was back there
00:54:14on the chase with Hudson
00:54:16or else he might have gone
00:54:17all the way in clean.
00:54:18One of their best skaters
00:54:19from behind the goal line.
00:54:22Caulfield threw it to the net.
00:54:24And now Byram
00:54:26for McLeod.
00:54:28Byram minus 5
00:54:29in the last 2 games
00:54:31of this series.
00:54:33But he's not alone.
00:54:35On the Buffalo side
00:54:37in the blue and gold.
00:54:38Good reach by Thompson
00:54:39to touch it.
00:54:40Suzuki let it go past
00:54:42to avoid the offside.
00:54:43He goes off
00:54:44after a 50-second shift.
00:54:4730 seconds
00:54:48in the 4-on-4.
00:54:49And we're ticking down
00:54:50to a minute to go
00:54:51in the period.
00:54:52Thompson.
00:54:54Crowd roared
00:54:55as Owen Power
00:54:57went down to the slot.
00:54:59Matheson now
00:55:01by himself
00:55:02and he lost the puck.
00:55:07Power
00:55:08in his fifth year now
00:55:10the former number one
00:55:11overall pick
00:55:11out of the University
00:55:12of Michigan.
00:55:13And Helen
00:55:14his shot
00:55:15deflected out
00:55:16of the rink
00:55:16and as the puck
00:55:18went out
00:55:18there's a penalty
00:55:19being called here
00:55:20by TJ Luxmore.
00:55:22That's going to be
00:55:23on Taige Thompson.
00:55:25Man, the Sabres
00:55:27are making this hard
00:55:28on themselves.
00:55:29Zucker's penalty
00:55:30wasn't a very good one.
00:55:32Thompson's penalty
00:55:33is not a very good one.
00:55:35And Montreal
00:55:36will go back
00:55:36to the power play.
00:55:44Buffalo penalty
00:55:45taking 10 offensive
00:55:47zone penalties
00:55:48that have caused
00:55:49a power play.
00:55:50That number was
00:55:51one for Montreal
00:55:52entering tonight.
00:55:54I mean, I don't think
00:55:55this is the worst
00:55:56cross-check I've ever
00:55:57seen, but there's
00:55:58no need
00:55:58to put the official
00:56:00into a decision.
00:56:01The puck's up
00:56:03in the netting.
00:56:03Just let it go.
00:56:04And Thompson
00:56:05takes the penalty
00:56:06and now we've got
00:56:08a 6 second 4 on 3
00:56:10which doesn't sound
00:56:11like much,
00:56:12but if Montreal
00:56:13can win the draw
00:56:13they can attack
00:56:15quickly here
00:56:15against 3 defenders.
00:56:24Suzuki won the draw.
00:56:27Hudson,
00:56:28Slapkovsky,
00:56:29that one's blocked
00:56:30by Samuelson.
00:56:31Krebs and Bullduker
00:56:32are out.
00:56:33So now the power play
00:56:34goes to 5 on 4.
00:56:36They were under
00:56:36a half minute to go
00:56:37in the period.
00:56:39Suzuki
00:56:40up high,
00:56:41Demidoff moved it
00:56:42to Slapkovsky
00:56:44to Hudson.
00:56:45Suzuki
00:56:45blocked by Timmons.
00:56:4715 in the period.
00:56:49Another blocked
00:56:49by Timmons.
00:56:50It pinballs
00:56:51and they score!
00:56:53Paul Caulfield
00:56:54a power play goal
00:56:57and a 2-1
00:56:59Montreal lead.
00:57:11Scores get hot.
00:57:13The puck finds them.
00:57:14Timmons blocks
00:57:15three shots here
00:57:16and it comes to
00:57:18Caulfield on the goal line.
00:57:20Watch how quickly
00:57:21he takes this puck.
00:57:23Doesn't have a second thought
00:57:25and he makes one move
00:57:27and spreads out
00:57:28Lucanen.
00:57:28Watch Lucanen's left path.
00:57:30It comes up in the air
00:57:32and Caulfield jams this
00:57:33under his stick
00:57:34and between the legs.
00:57:36This will be a good look
00:57:37at it.
00:57:38Caulfield's got power play
00:57:39goals in back-to-back games.
00:57:41The bad Sabres penalty.
00:57:42They pay for it
00:57:43and it's 2-1 halves.
00:57:46Third goal of the playoffs
00:57:47all in the power play
00:57:48and one of the
00:57:49series against Tampa Bay.
00:57:52He had 51 goals
00:57:53in the regular season
00:57:54behind only Nathan McKinnon's
00:57:5653.
00:57:5925-year-old from Wisconsin
00:58:01a former Wisconsin Badger.
00:58:04And that'll end
00:58:06the first period.
00:58:07So Buffalo had the great start
00:58:09carried the play early.
00:58:11Looked like they might
00:58:12go up 2-0.
00:58:13That goal was taken down
00:58:14on the challenge
00:58:17and much of the rest
00:58:18of the period
00:58:18belonged to the Habs.
00:58:20Samuelson for Buffalo.
00:58:22Newhook and Caulfield
00:58:24for Montreal.
00:58:272-1 halves after 1.
00:58:28Here's Steve Levy.
00:58:30All right, Sean.
00:58:31Thank you.
00:58:32And plenty to unpack.
00:58:33Back here with P.K. Subban
00:58:35and T.J. Oshie.
00:58:38Now, boys,
00:58:39that's a playoff period.
00:58:41I mean, that had some stuff.
00:58:43And we're going to unpack
00:58:44it all for you here
00:58:45on the Expedia first
00:58:46and a mission report,
00:58:47but that's a terrible penalty
00:58:49for T.J. Thompson
00:58:49to take into the period.
00:58:50Yeah, and I love T.J.
00:58:51I love what he brings,
00:58:52but this is a learning thing
00:58:53for coming into this game.
00:58:55What's your mindset
00:58:55as a leader on that team?
00:58:57You got to look over.
00:58:57This is a big game.
00:58:58You do not want to give
00:58:59Caulfield, Demidov,
00:59:01Slefkowski,
00:59:01who've been relatively cool,
00:59:03extra looks on the power play.
00:59:05And for me,
00:59:06this is one.
00:59:06It's a soft call,
00:59:08no question,
00:59:08but you're giving
00:59:09the ref an opportunity
00:59:10to call you here.
00:59:11And right in front of him,
00:59:13he's going to call that.
00:59:14So for T.J.,
00:59:14he's got to clean that up
00:59:16because you do not
00:59:17want to give Caulfield
00:59:18another opportunity
00:59:19to get his confidence.
00:59:21Now he's got two goals.
00:59:22Now he's feeling it.
00:59:23Now they're into it.
00:59:24This is the playoffs.
00:59:26Yeah, and when you take
00:59:26bad penalties,
00:59:27they always come back
00:59:27to bite you
00:59:28as evidence right here.
00:59:30Yeah, and it's also showing
00:59:31the amount of frustration
00:59:32that Buffalo has right now
00:59:33taking penalties like that.
00:59:35If I'm Montreal,
00:59:36I'm saying let's just
00:59:37keep doing this.
00:59:37They'll put us on the
00:59:38power play all night.
00:59:39Yep.
00:59:40Wild period.
00:59:41So much going on.
00:59:42Buffalo had the start
00:59:43they wanted.
00:59:44Zucker, too.
00:59:45He took that.
00:59:45That was a bad penalty, too.
00:59:47He can't do that.
00:59:48Can't do that.
00:59:48Buffalo started the period.
00:59:50Montreal finished the period.
00:59:52Beckett Seneca will join PK
00:59:53to get you ready
00:59:54for the late game tonight.
00:59:55And everything that happened
00:59:56to that first
00:59:56on the Expedia
00:59:58first-in-emission report.
01:00:01Almost the perfect
01:00:02first period.
01:00:04Yeah, and you said it.
01:00:05They carried the play
01:00:06through a lot of it.
01:00:07And the message
01:00:07from Lindy Ruff,
01:00:08which I'm sure
01:00:09it was part of his message
01:00:10during this game, Ray,
01:00:11stay out of the penalty box.
01:00:12You could debate
01:00:13the merits of that call,
01:00:15the penalty on Thompson,
01:00:17but still,
01:00:18no need to do it.
01:00:19Don't put the referee
01:00:21in a position
01:00:22where he has to ponder
01:00:23making that call.
01:00:24I mean, there's three penalties
01:00:25I can think of in that period.
01:00:27The Thompson penalty,
01:00:28the Dahlien penalty,
01:00:29the Zucker penalty,
01:00:30and they didn't really need
01:00:31to take any of them.
01:00:32And that just kills
01:00:33a little bit of the momentum
01:00:34you've worked so hard to build.
01:00:36Against the Montreal power play
01:00:38that is starting to find the mark.
01:00:40Buffalo's power play
01:00:41has been better lately as well.
01:00:43Teams are at full strength
01:00:44as period two begins.
01:00:48Sean McDonough,
01:00:49Ray Ferrell,
01:00:49Emily Kaplan,
01:00:50our rules expert
01:00:51is Dave Jackson's
01:00:53battling laryngitis tonight
01:00:54after his numerous appearances
01:00:56in the first period.
01:00:58He'll need to get it back.
01:01:00Could be a long night
01:01:00with the Vegas and Anaheim
01:01:02to follow.
01:01:04As long as that first period
01:01:06went, they might be starting
01:01:07on another network.
01:01:08Here's Dahl.
01:01:10Setters one.
01:01:11It's cleared away by Dobson.
01:01:14Norris centers.
01:01:15He had Krebs heading
01:01:17toward the net.
01:01:20Now it's played in
01:01:21by Montreal.
01:01:22The Suzuki line goes off.
01:01:26Caulfield now
01:01:26with seven points
01:01:28in these playoffs.
01:01:30All of them on the power play.
01:01:32Three goals and four assists.
01:01:35Deneau and Krebs battle.
01:01:37Krebs centered.
01:01:38But it wound up
01:01:39on the stick of Alex Texier.
01:01:41It was a nice pickup
01:01:42by Jeff Gordon and Ken Hughes
01:01:44when he had let go
01:01:45by St. Louis.
01:01:47And that is contract terminated
01:01:49after eight games
01:01:50with the Blues.
01:01:51He wanted out.
01:01:53Signed with Montreal
01:01:54and he's been excellent
01:01:56with the Canadians.
01:01:57Here he comes
01:01:58with some room.
01:01:59The Frenchman
01:02:00goes cross ice
01:02:01off the stick of Deneau.
01:02:04Anderson played it
01:02:05to Texier.
01:02:05There's a lot of room.
01:02:06Back of the line.
01:02:08Matheson
01:02:10sends it
01:02:11to the back wall
01:02:12for Texier.
01:02:13Buffalo
01:02:14a little disjointed
01:02:15at its own end.
01:02:17Anderson got hit
01:02:18in the face.
01:02:19There's a penalty here
01:02:20against Buffalo.
01:02:21Out comes Dobish
01:02:22for an extra attacker.
01:02:26Suzuki
01:02:28has it back
01:02:29from Texier.
01:02:30They crowd the net front
01:02:32with Gouley
01:02:33and Anderson.
01:02:35Texier
01:02:37and now
01:02:38Jack Guy
01:02:40to know that it passed by.
01:02:42Anderson moved along
01:02:43to Suzuki.
01:02:46Getting closer
01:02:47to a shooting angle.
01:02:48The power's in the way.
01:02:49It's touched by Tuck
01:02:50but still no whistle.
01:02:52Didn't possess the puck.
01:02:54Now
01:02:54as he plays it out
01:02:55here comes the call
01:02:57and they're checking
01:02:58the face
01:02:59of Anderson
01:03:00for blood.
01:03:07Buffalo
01:03:08penalty number four.
01:03:09Two minutes
01:03:10for high sticking.
01:03:12Bowen Byram
01:03:13in the box.
01:03:15Byram's just going
01:03:16to move Anderson
01:03:17out of the way
01:03:17and as he gets
01:03:19close to him
01:03:19he nicks him
01:03:20with his stick.
01:03:21Pretty
01:03:22easy call.
01:03:23I mean the official
01:03:24standing right off
01:03:25of Anderson's
01:03:26right shoulder
01:03:26he hits him
01:03:27in the visor
01:03:28and power play
01:03:30four for the Canadians.
01:03:32One for three
01:03:33tonight.
01:03:33The Caulfield goal.
01:03:36They're three
01:03:37for the last nine
01:03:38and a man up
01:03:38after going three
01:03:39for the previous
01:03:4028.
01:03:42Caulfield played
01:03:43it back to Hudson.
01:03:45Magnificent quarterback
01:03:46at the top
01:03:46of the power play.
01:03:48Demidop
01:03:48trying to move it
01:03:49quickly.
01:03:49Samuelson
01:03:50got a stick on it.
01:03:51Hudson just did
01:03:52keep it in.
01:03:53Demidop moved it
01:03:54quickly.
01:03:55Sabres pressuring
01:03:56up high with
01:03:56Greenway and
01:03:57Samuelson.
01:03:58Out there to kill
01:04:00with Timmons and
01:04:01Malenstein.
01:04:02And it shot the
01:04:03length of the ice.
01:04:05Malenstein,
01:04:06Greenway,
01:04:07Timmons,
01:04:08they're all going
01:04:08off.
01:04:08Samuelson.
01:04:09Man,
01:04:10they worked as a
01:04:11group of four
01:04:12there.
01:04:12There was no
01:04:12time for the
01:04:14Canadians to handle
01:04:15a bobbling puck.
01:04:17Hudson went
01:04:17spinning across the
01:04:19line.
01:04:19Lost it but
01:04:20Slavkoski kept it
01:04:21Suzuki down low.
01:04:23Great stop by
01:04:24Loken in on
01:04:25Caulfield.
01:04:28He went five games
01:04:30without a point and
01:04:31now it seems like
01:04:32every time he touches
01:04:33the puck he has a
01:04:35chance.
01:04:36One minute on the
01:04:38Byram penalty.
01:04:39Three and a half gone
01:04:40by second period.
01:04:42Two to one Canadians.
01:04:43They lead the series
01:04:43two to one.
01:04:45Demidop,
01:04:45his pass deflected by
01:04:47Greenway,
01:04:47who's back up
01:04:48quickly.
01:04:49Hudson tended to a
01:04:51lot of room.
01:04:51He decided to
01:04:52retreat when he
01:04:53could have gone
01:04:53forward.
01:04:55Slavkoski.
01:04:56Tough angle shot
01:04:57and another big
01:04:58stop by Loken
01:05:00in.
01:05:01Off the testing
01:05:02opportunity for
01:05:03Caulfield.
01:05:06Goal in game
01:05:07three,
01:05:07goal in game
01:05:08four.
01:05:09Two great
01:05:09chances here.
01:05:10All of it on the
01:05:11power play.
01:05:12This stop from
01:05:13Loken in.
01:05:14He's got to wrestle
01:05:15with it and fight it
01:05:16off.
01:05:17Look at the stretch
01:05:18here by Loken in on
01:05:20this next one as it
01:05:21comes across to
01:05:22Caulfield and he gets
01:05:24this off so quickly.
01:05:25Loken in spread out
01:05:26as far as he can.
01:05:28The flexibility to
01:05:29take away the bottom
01:05:30of the net and take
01:05:31one away from
01:05:32Caulfield.
01:05:35Down low.
01:05:36They're going for a
01:05:37tip from Dock.
01:05:39Puck wound up
01:05:40cleared.
01:05:41And down to 30
01:05:42seconds on the
01:05:44Montreal power play.
01:05:50Dobson played it back
01:05:51for Kirby Dock.
01:05:54Bolduc cross ice.
01:05:56That one right through
01:05:57Tuck.
01:05:57A dangerous pass.
01:05:59Texier with 10 on
01:06:01the man advantage.
01:06:02Too hot to handle for
01:06:03Doc.
01:06:04Bolduc in the right spot.
01:06:05That's hard around
01:06:07pass Texier.
01:06:09Everybody with a lot of
01:06:10mustard on these passes
01:06:12for Montreal.
01:06:12Now it's thrown toward the
01:06:13net by Dobson.
01:06:16Buffalo is back at full
01:06:18strength with four and a
01:06:19half gone by in the
01:06:20second.
01:06:22Two shots on goal and that
01:06:24has power play.
01:06:26Dobson up the near wall
01:06:27anticipated by Darlene.
01:06:29He and Dock hold each other
01:06:32out.
01:06:35Krebs trying to move it
01:06:36along.
01:06:37Buffalo got it into the
01:06:38zone.
01:06:39Madison long pass.
01:06:41Picked up by power.
01:06:43And he's across the line
01:06:44too soon.
01:06:45Doan had not yet cleared.
01:06:47Here's Emily Kaplan.
01:06:47Buffalo had a chance to go up
01:06:492-0 early before that
01:06:50goaltender interference call
01:06:52went against them.
01:06:53Caught up with Seth Appert
01:06:54at the break and he told me
01:06:55that coaching staff did not
01:06:57like the call.
01:06:58Did not sit well with them
01:06:59or the explanation but he
01:07:00didn't want to elaborate
01:07:01further.
01:07:02Instead he said the message
01:07:03to the guys was you are
01:07:05out playing them in this
01:07:06building.
01:07:06You are out shooting them
01:07:07in this building.
01:07:08Just keep your wits about
01:07:09you.
01:07:10Stay focused.
01:07:11And guys you need to stay
01:07:12out of the box but that
01:07:13didn't age too well with
01:07:14Byron picking that early
01:07:15high sticking penalty.
01:07:16That certainly takes away all
01:07:17your juice.
01:07:18One thing I have liked for
01:07:19them is we see Consta
01:07:21Helenus is on the ice here
01:07:23for his first period of
01:07:25playoff hockey he never took
01:07:27one backward step.
01:07:28He's aggressive.
