00:00The Post has learned that Memphis Grizzlies guard, Brendan Clark, has passed away at the age of 29 years old.
00:06At this time of the recording, the cause of death is still unknown.
00:10He was the 21st pick in the 2019 draft, traded to Memphis on draft night,
00:16and a lot of guys in that situation, new city, new system, unfamiliar faces, well, they disappear.
00:22Brendan Clark, he showed up.
00:24First year in the league, he was all-rookie first team, summer league, MVP.
00:30I mean, the man put the entire league on notice before the regular season even started.
00:356'8", 215 pounds, he could guard multiple positions, could finish at the rim, could protect the paint.
00:42I mean, he was that guy that did the dirty work, the stuff that doesn't always show up in the
00:46box score,
00:47but shows up in the win column.
00:48That was Brendan Clark.
00:50And look, it wasn't always easy for him.
00:52He tore his Achilles back in 2023, and any athlete out there who's dealt with a serious injury knows that
01:00it's not just physical.
01:01That can break you mentally, too.
01:03But he came back and kept fighting.
01:06That's a professional right there.
01:08That's a man who loved the game.
01:10Seven seasons, 309 games, 10 points, 5.5 rebounds a night,
01:16all while being one of the most respected guys in that Grizzlies locker room.
01:20Now, I've interviewed hundreds of athletes over the years, and the ones that stick with you aren't always the superstars.
01:27Sometimes it's the guys who grinded, the guys who showed up, the guys who made everybody around them better.
01:35Brendan Clark was that guy.
01:36To his family, to the Grizzlies organization, to everyone in Memphis who rocked with him,
01:43I'm sending love, genuine love.
01:45Rest easy, BC.
01:47The game won't forget you.
01:48We'll have more coverage as the story develops.
