What is next for LeBron James? With Lakers getting swept by OKC, has LeBron played his last game in a Laker uniform? Could James have played his last game in #NBA? Does LBJ want a 'Farewell Tour'?
Transcript
00:00I would assume he's not done.
00:01No, I don't think he's going anywhere.
00:03I would be shocked if he retired because I feel like he would let us all know,
00:07like, this is my last year, and enjoy my greatness as I kind of.
00:14I would like everybody to celebrate me every night of the regular season,
00:19all season long.
00:20No, he'll let us know when it's his last year.
00:22I would be shocked.
00:23I am the king.
00:24Please celebrate me.
00:26When I come to your arena, make sure that I am gifted with an automobile
00:29or something.
00:32We'll know when he's going to hand the crown.
00:33He's going to pass the crown down to somebody else.
00:36I don't know about Bronny.
00:37What about Bryce?
00:39No, Bryce, I think he's stapled to the end of the bench at Arizona.
00:43I don't think he's –
00:44Does he play anywhere else as opposed to the Lakers?
00:49That's the biggest – I think that's the biggest question.
00:51Would you want the entire S show that comes with him?
00:53I think the Lakers are pretty happy with the money they've invested in LeBron James.
00:57He's still good.
00:58I think LeBron – I know it's hard when you're so self-congratulatory
01:02to think of things to say positive about that person,
01:06but nobody has – outside of maybe Tiger Woods,
01:09has there been an athlete with as much promise that has actually been found?
01:15Wow.
01:16And Tiger's not even in his –
01:17That's an interesting statement.
01:18Oh, my goodness.
01:19Yeah.
01:19He's won championships on three teams.
01:21Right.
01:21He's – since he was 12, he was the next king of the NBA.
01:27Right.
01:27Not a single issue off the field of any note.
01:29I saw – it always blows me away when people put him above Michael Jordan.
01:34No.
01:34Oh, not even 12.
01:35No.
01:36But you're saying that you're from a young age.
01:38But it might be – it could be a generational thing.
01:39Yes, it is.
01:40Like there are –
01:41Yeah, people who have never seen Jordan say that.
01:43Well –
01:44Yeah, I'm pretty sure Terp has LeBron above Jordan.
01:45Yeah.
01:46He's a huge LeBron guy, though.
01:48Brees probably does, too.
01:50It's the youth.
01:51It is the youth.
01:52It's the youth, the younger generation that –
01:54they know who Michael Jordan is because they're still rocking his sneakers.
01:58They just feel like what LeBron is able to –
02:03what he's been able to accomplish over that long period of time where Jordan –
02:08you know, it always comes down to the –
02:11I think the older generation and the younger generation,
02:14the battle between LeBron and Jordan always comes down to the championships
02:20and basically being able to, you know, put the team on his back in big games
02:28and win championships.
02:292-3-9 texter on the Subaru of New England text line says he is the perfect piece
02:35for Brad Stevens in the Boston.
02:37Oh, God.
02:39No.
02:39LeBron is your, like –
02:41Get out.
02:42I think LeBron is on a – he's your third option on a team.
02:45Like, when Luka was healthy, it was, like, Luka's team,
02:48and then he was, like – then it was Austin River –
02:52Austin Reeves and a little bit of, like, LeBron,
02:55so they were battling for that 2-3 spot.
02:57But, like, that's where LeBron is.
02:59LeBron's the guy that's still going to go out there and get you 20.
03:01He's still going to get you almost eight assists and seven rebounds.
03:05But he's not the number one on a team.
03:08You've seen it when – this season when Luka got hurt in the playoffs
03:12and without Luka and Austin Reeves.
03:14But if he isn't the number one option, then wouldn't he be perfect in Boston, Wiggy?
03:17No.
03:18Because he'd be after Jalen and Jason.
03:19All I know is if he's coming here and Big Jim has him in the seaport,
03:23then Greg should lose his job because he can't go 0-for-2 on those.
03:26Some texter said the only scoops I get now in the seaport are at Van Lewin.
03:30Well, that's true.
03:33I can't believe I got out-scooped in my own neighborhood.
03:35Yeah, that's crazy.
03:37It's embarrassing.
03:38It really is.
03:39For a guy who goes out every day, too, it's not even like you're just staying at home.
03:42But honestly, that's more on Big P than it is you.
03:45Like, he should give you the tea at the concierge.
03:46Somebody said that maybe Big P leaked the news to Jim Murray as opposed to me,
03:50which would be – that would be –
03:51I would hope Big P's not leaking anywhere.
03:54That would be disastrous.
03:56I'd have an issue with Pierre if he did that.
03:59A betrayal.
04:00Yeah.
04:04But I just – I guess in the Twitch chat there was a question, Curtis,
04:10asking you to elaborate how the Lakers are happy with him if he has yet to win a ring there.
04:16He did win a ring there.
04:17Yeah, he did.
04:17Oh, he did?
04:18Yeah, the bubble ring.
04:19Bubble ring.
04:19Bubble ring.
04:20Does that count?
04:21Eh.
04:21I mean, it goes down in the history books.
04:23Yeah, it goes down in the history books.
04:24I think they've made a lot of money since LeBron James came to town.
04:28What would you think if he went back to Cleveland for one year?
04:31His final year, he said, this is my retirement year.
04:33I'm going to go there.
04:34I'm going to play with Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, and I'll be the third option there.
04:40I mean, I think that could be – if I'm LeBron, I'm getting out of the West.
04:44If I really want another kick at the can to win a championship, I'm getting out of the West.
04:48Oh, unless you're going to say, you know what?
04:50Hey, any chance the Joker, Jokic, can I pick up the phone and come to Denver?
04:55But I'm getting out of the West.
04:57I think Cleveland would be a good spot.
04:58I don't know if you're still keeping James Harden, but Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley,
05:02and then LeBron being kind of like your third option.
05:05I think that would be a good fit for him.
05:08I would say if he's worried about his legacy and he's hopeful to win again,
05:11don't you think he'd want to do it for four different teams then?
05:14Yeah, I would – I don't know.
05:16I wonder because the conversation is always going to be, you know, LeBron Jordan, right?
05:22LeBron Jordan.
05:23And so he's going to need another chip to maybe sway some of those older generation people
05:29to maybe, you know, take him over Jordan.
05:31Doesn't this just have the Knicks written all over it?
05:34Oh, God.
05:34Like goes plays at Madison Square Garden for his final season to be seen
05:38by the most amount of people possible in New York.
05:40World's most famous arena.
05:41Yeah.
05:42Third option there with, you know, with Kyle Anthony Towns, Jalen Brunson.
05:46Like doesn't have to be the number one guy, but can show up and drop 40 on any given night.
05:51Like that just kind of makes sense.
05:53I mean, that's where he has to be.
05:54He has to go to a team where their team is saying,
05:57you don't have to be the number one option night in and night out.
06:00If we need you for a couple games in the playoffs, you can do that.
06:04This is Tariq from Boston.
06:06Hey.
06:07Man, in three years, you've pronounced my name about 72 different ways.
06:11I know.
06:11I thought you said last time.
06:12It's Tariq.
06:13Cool.
06:13Wait.
06:14It's okay.
06:14Wait.
06:14I thought you said last time it was Tariq.
06:16It's Tariq?
06:18It's always been Tariq.
06:20I'm sorry.
06:21I'm sorry.
06:21Because they go, hey, is this Tariq?
06:23I'm sorry.
06:24They know.
06:24It's okay.
06:25No worries.
06:25If you have a scoop about LeBron James living in the seaport,
06:28then I'm going home.
06:29I just think that, you know, as Wiggy was breaking it down, you know,
06:35I think the delineation between the fans of Michael Jordan and the fans of
06:39LeBron is Michael Jordan exceeded his expectations coming out of college.
06:44LeBron has always lived with his.
06:46So you've got to give him credit.
06:48You know, he was always expected to be this.
06:49There was no, oh, that a boy.
06:51You did better than we thought.
06:52It was always that was where you needed to be or you're a fraud.
06:56So, you know, like Curtis said, you've got to give this man credit to, number one,
07:02meet expectations for the 22 years that he played and not have, like,
07:08it crash him out where he's now in trouble or in the news or doing some thing
07:12like ridiculous and in the public view, you know, that's a hard thing.
07:16We were seeing it with Tiger Woods.
07:18It's hard to be that guy, meet those expectations,
07:20and then not be a lunatic on the backside of that.
07:23It's kind of hard.
07:25We're seeing it from guys that we thought by the image that was portrayed by his
07:28father, that Tiger Woods had wings and he floated in on a jean, you know,
07:32a magic carpet.
07:33He didn't touch the ground.
07:34He didn't do anything.
07:35And then all of a sudden that facade crashes and we see Neil Armstrong.
07:40I mean, yeah, we see it with guys that we thought were a thing.
07:44And LeBron survived that, you know,
07:46on a level that is almost unattainable really or unrepeatable.
07:50Hold on.
07:51What did Neil Armstrong do?
07:54I mean, I didn't mean Neil Armstrong.
07:55Lance, I think he was thinking Lance Armstrong.
07:57Lance Armstrong, sorry.
07:59I thought you were suggesting.
08:02Well, you know, Neil tripped and fell out of the capsule on the moon.
08:05Yeah, I thought you were suggesting that the first man to walk on the moon was stepping
08:09out on the missus.
08:10I was, I don't, I was unaware.
08:12You know, sometimes you got to go the extra mile to do it.
08:18Oh, you're saying there's no laws when it comes to space.
08:20Like he can do whatever he wants.
08:22Hey, if there's a 500 mile rule, what about, you know, 300,000?
08:26Right.
08:26Galactic.
08:27But Tarek is right.
08:28I mean, there's no.
08:29It's pronounced Tarak.
08:32There is no other athlete that is LeBron level that has been able to do what he's been able
08:41to do.
08:42Like dominate the sport, be the face of the league since he was, you know, 15.
08:47Tom Brady.
08:48No, but Tom Brady wasn't.
08:49He didn't have the expectation.
08:50Yeah, he wasn't, he wasn't coming in as like the face of the league.
08:54He, Brady.
08:55That's the only difference.
08:55I mean, you're saying there, you started off and you said there's no other, there's no
08:59other athlete who has been able to dominate the league, be the face of the league.
09:03Tom Brady did just that.
09:04But it's no, no.
09:05It's much.
09:06Everything Brady and LeBron did from the start of their career until the end is similar,
09:10but what they arrived with is vastly different.
09:12It's, I think it's much harder to have those expectations.
09:16Peyton Manning and LeBron are closer.
09:18To have those expectations at 16 years old.
09:21Roman Anthony.
09:23Oh, yeah.
09:23Roman, Roman could be the guy.
09:25But to be honest, he was.
09:27Little Italy.
09:28I think he was 16 years old when he was on the cover of ESPN, the magazine or whatever
09:32the hell it was.
09:33And to be able to, to be the next guy and then live up to the hype and then not
09:41have
09:41any off the field issues.
09:43Where do you guys fall on this?
09:45They had, um, Nick Wright had a podcast that popped up in my algorithm and it was an interesting
09:49take where he says, you can't criticize LeBron for being four and six in the NBA finals.
09:56That at no point in any other playoff series, do you say, well, he's at least he lost in
10:02the conference final and not the conference semifinal.
10:05Whereas Jordan, obviously undefeated six and oh, in the NBA.
10:09I agree with that because we used to, people used to do it with Joe Montana and Brady and
10:14it made me mad.
10:15Like, so Brady would get knocked for going to a Superbowl and losing.
10:19They'd be like, oh, Joe went four and oh, but guess what?
10:22What about the other years where Joe didn't make the play or he made the playoffs?
10:25He didn't make the Superbowl, but that stopped once Brady got five.
10:29No, I know that.
10:29But I'm saying like Jordan, yes, was spectacular.
10:33Six championships and I don't put LeBron ahead of Jordan, but I don't think you should knock
10:39LeBron for losing a championship.
