MrBeast Explored 2 Thousand Year Old Ancient Temples [Full Movie] [Full Episodes]Full EP - Full
Transcript
00:01We just got dropped off on this 2,000 year old ancient temple, but we're still high up and we're
00:07surrounded by jungle. See you later. Let's go see what we can find. In this video, we're going to be
00:12exploring dozens of ancient temples, all of which hide ancient Mayan secrets from the world deep underground.
00:19Everything you guys are seeing now, the Mayans didn't want us to see. Nobody gets to go where we're going,
00:25including exploring one of the seven wonders of the world. But we only have 100 hours to make discoveries. Dude,
00:31I'm discovering these stairs are huge. Yeah, I want to find an escalator. Let's go discover the secrets of the
00:36Mayans. This is the door to the inside of this massive Mayan temple. Oh, that's a deep tunnel. Dibs, I'm
00:43going first. That's fine with me. This temple is over 2,000 years old.
00:48This is insane. We're inside an ancient temple right now. Where are we going? Oh my gosh. Oh, wow. The
00:55first thing you see in this temple is this giant statue, which is supposedly the corn god inside of a
01:01jaguar's mouth. This is so beautiful. My gosh. I'm going to tell you what I think this means and you
01:06tell me what it means, okay? This is a hand. This is a parade. That's a toilet. Wrong. That is
01:15not his toilet. That is his earring. Yeah, Jimmy. Oh.
01:18So here's the thing. This place is actually a pyramid built on top of a pyramid. So the deeper we
01:23go in, the older things get. Be careful, boys.
01:25This is so sketchy, Jimmy. I can't believe the government's letting us do this. It really is crazy. Not even
01:29archaeologists are allowed to go back here.
01:32How deep underground are we? And after navigating this ginormous ancient temple, we finally made it to the end.
01:38Now that we're at the end, you said you had a surprise.
01:40Yes. This has been found in the last two decades.
01:44Oh. Whoa, what?
01:45This is a funerary mask. This is the face of one of the kings of the snake kingdom.
01:50The Mayans used masks like this one to shield those that have passed away from dangers on their journey to
01:56the underworld.
01:57Can I hold it? Yes.
01:59Wow.
01:59This was made over a thousand years ago.
02:01Yes.
02:01Which means my great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents weren't even alive.
02:06Why is this not in a museum? Why is a YouTuber holding this? Get this away from me. Take it.
02:10Take it.
02:10Don't tell anybody.
02:11Okay. I totally won't show 200 million people.
02:14That's it for this temple, but we are in the middle of a giant city with multiple other ancient temples.
02:21And later in this video, even visiting the seventh wonder of the world.
02:25Let's find some treasure in this jungle full of monkeys, snakes, and people have even died to jaguars here.
02:30Well, we survived Snake Island.
02:33Is that a monkey?
02:36Sir! Sir! Sir!
02:43Well, guys, this is where we're going to be camping tonight.
02:46Oh, look at these hammocks.
02:48We still have over a dozen temples to explore.
02:50I need you guys to get some good sleep because this video is just getting started.
02:56Good morning, boys!
02:58Morning!
02:58First things first, we need to explore the rest of this massive abandoned city.
03:03And looking at it now, it's hard to imagine what it might have looked like.
03:06And so, I'll just show you.
03:07Over 100,000 people used to live in this city.
03:11That's what that used to look like.
03:12This is what they think these roads look like.
03:14There were temples everywhere.
03:16It was flourishing.
03:17But on the inside, you'd witness magnificent artwork like this.
03:21Oh, my God.
03:22Big area.
03:23Whoa.
03:24This is incredible.
03:25One of my favorite part of these videos is when we take old paintings and bring them to life.
03:29So, this is our best estimation of what they represent.
03:31Bro, this is so cool.
03:32This is a rare glimpse into what the life of a Mayan looked like 2,500 years ago.
03:36This is amazing.
03:37No one really thought that was a llama.
03:39Can we talk about this for real?
03:39Cool.
03:39And you thought that was a llama?
03:40Because, look, I thought that was the eye, that was the mouth, and I thought that was the leg.
03:44Yeah, I thought you were smart.
03:46And after I picked on Nolan, Nolan returned the favor to Tariq with the spider.
03:50Tariq, don't move.
03:51Stop.
03:51Wait, wait, wait.
03:52Wait, wait, wait.
03:55Tariq's going to quit.
03:56My friends have a strange way of having fun, but the Mayan way was arguably stranger.
04:01We're standing where a ball court used to exist over 2,000 years ago.
04:05This was the first ever team sport to use a ball.
04:08As far as we know.
04:09Also, the captain of the losing team's head got cut off.
04:12Yes.
04:16The Mayans are crazy, man.
04:18Whoa.
04:19This is huge.
04:20Yeah.
04:21So beautiful.
04:22Why don't we build temples like this today?
04:24Around 2,000 years ago, this is where the king and his queen lived.
04:28But 2,500 years ago, this is what it looked like.
04:31Massive crowds of people would gather here and even wait for hours just for a chance to see the king.
04:39And here it is today.
04:40Let's go check it out.
04:422,000 years ago, the king would probably stand here and watch sports from his palace.
04:47Kind of cool.
04:48Oh, my gosh.
04:48It's kind of like a labyrinth.
04:50Yes, because if you want to protect your king, you make it confusing.
04:54You make it confusing.
04:55Ernesto, be honest with you.
04:56Has anyone ever pressed this block in to see if it reveals hidden treasure?
05:00I will not do it.
05:03How about this one?
05:05How about this one?
05:06You're telling me the king didn't build a hidden treasure room 2,600 years ago?
05:10Maybe, yes.
05:11But it's hidden.
05:12With the hopes of finding the king's treasure, we venture to a cave deep in the jungle where the treasure
05:17may lie.
05:18Hey, Jimmy did not say anything about bats, bro.
05:20Oh, my God, Joe, there's so many bats.
05:23They just flew right behind our heads.
05:24The Mayans, they used to think that this is the mouth of the monster of the earth.
05:27Look above us right now.
05:28We're surrounded by bats.
05:30Thousands of bats swarming us.
05:32Dude, it's a bat tornado.
05:33If there is a Mayan treasure there, it's under tons of bat poop.
05:36Bat poop.
05:36I feel like I've already found my treasure.
05:38This is beautiful.
05:39We're going to leave.
05:39There's a lot of bats.
05:40I would prefer if you go faster.
05:41Oh, I got food on.
05:43Oh, my God.
05:44Oh, my God.
05:46For me, this is a real treasure.
05:48Oh, my God.
05:50You got to get out of here.
05:54There's absolutely no treasure here.
05:55But there's still one more temple that might have treasure.
05:58And because it's already dark out, boys, light your torches, and let's go on an adventure.
06:02Our torches go out before we get to an ancient temple.
06:05I'm going to be very sad.
06:06Temple.
06:07Temple.
06:08Temple.
06:09This is so much cooler with just torches.
06:12Let's see what this bad boy looks like.
06:14I feel like an ancient adventure.
06:16But as it turns out, all right, it's a dead end.
06:17This didn't go well either.
06:19Everything's a dead end.
06:21Oh, my God.
06:22What was that?
06:22There's like a monkey up there.
06:24Is that a monkey or a jaguar?
06:26Why is this video becoming scary all of a sudden?
06:28Make sure you sleep well tonight because I have a big surprise for you in the morning.
06:31Let me guess.
06:32You guys thought the dozens of ancient temples in this city was the entire video.
06:36Yeah.
06:37Yeah.
06:37I think so.
06:37Send the helicopter back.
06:38Because to explore even further, we were going to need a lift.
06:42I'm climbing these stairs like a dog.
06:44We're almost there.
06:46There's our ride.
06:48We gotta go.
06:49Let's go explore some more temples.
06:51And where we're going has some of the craziest ancient remains ever built by mankind.
06:56And to kick off this location, we're going to visit this bad boy, which the Mayans used
07:02to call the gateway to the underworld.
07:04Back in the day, there used to be giant fangs here.
07:06What happened to them?
07:07They fell off.
07:09Seems logical.
07:10Let's go explore.
07:11Whoa.
07:12This is awesome.
07:13There's some very special features that I love, like that structure in the below.
07:17Wow.
07:17I'm going to guess this building was the temple.
07:19Was it for sacrifices?
07:20Yes.
07:21You guessed it.
07:21Yes!
07:22I guess I'm right.
07:23What a nerd.
07:24We lost his hat.
07:24But what our guide really wanted to show us was a cave which Mayans believed humans emerged
07:30from.
07:30The Maya believed that humanity came from a cave.
07:33Deep inside of there is what they call the Tree of Life.
07:35And they believe that all of us spawned from this very majestic, beautiful tree deep in this
07:40cave.
07:40It's so sacred that we're going to do a ceremony to ask for permission to the spirits of the cave.
07:44If I was a betting man, I'd say the spirits are going to reject Nolan.
07:47And as we entered the cave, whoa, this definitely looks sacred, we were met with the ritual our
07:54guide spoke of.
07:55What is he doing now?
07:56He's purifying the entrance of the cave.
07:58And it's here where we would seek the approval of the gods.
08:02Naturally, I wasn't worried at all.
08:04But were the gods really about to let Nolan enter this sacred place?
08:07I hope they accept me.
08:14I think it's good.
08:15Oh.
08:16What is he doing?
08:19Is he good?
08:22Come on.
08:23The spirits didn't reject him.
08:24Thank goodness.
08:25So with the gods officially on our side, we started our journey for the Tree of Life.
08:29But the deeper into the cave we went, the hotter it got.
08:32Is it just me or is it only getting hotter in this cave?
08:34He's getting hotter and the air is going to be more difficult to breathe.
08:37More difficult to breathe.
08:37Yeah.
08:38The deeper you go in the cave, the thinner the air gets.
08:41I don't know if you can see the sweat.
08:43It's really hot here.
08:44This cave just keeps on going.
08:45But at least there's no bats.
08:47Everything you guys are seeing now, the Mayans didn't want us to see.
08:50They literally tried sealing this off.
08:51Imagine being a Maya 2,000 years ago.
08:54See this beautiful cave and all of a sudden, see this beautiful room.
08:58Whoa.
08:58And the amazing tree.
09:00Oh.
09:00Am I the only one that thought the Tree of Life was an actual tree?
09:04Yes.
09:04This is it.
09:04This is the sacred saber that holds the sky.
09:07Are these pots around it the same pots the Mayans created?
09:10Yes, sir.
09:11So the tall ones, they put incense and they burn it to get the attention of the gods.
09:15This is very cool.
09:16If you were a Mayan thousands of years ago and actually believed that this is where humans came from,
09:21I understand why they thought this was so sacred.
09:24Of course, of course.
09:25But this cave is about to get really dangerous because where we're going next,
09:29we will literally need an oxygen tank to breathe.
09:32Why do I keep doing things in videos that could kill me?
09:36It is so sweet.
09:40So after a few deep breaths to top off on oxygen, how deep are we going?
09:45About two football fields.
09:46Yo, I'm going to stay up here.
09:48You're always backing out on it.
09:49He said there was no oxygen.
09:50I don't want to hear it.
09:51And Nolan may have been on to something because at the literal first thing our guide wanted to show us.
09:56Oh.
09:56Whoa.
09:57I'm dizzy.
09:58Are you good?
09:59No, I'm good.
09:59I'm good.
10:00Whether you like it or not, you're going to get some oxygen.
10:01Breathe.
10:04Anyways, what were you saying?
10:05Well, there's some ceramic butt shards.
10:07Whoa.
10:08This is so cool.
10:10Can I take one home?
10:11Well, I do.
10:12We'll go to jail.
10:13I would go to jail?
10:14Yeah, sure.
10:14All right.
10:15I won't take one home.
10:16Dude, I can't believe they actually believe me.
10:19They're so cool.
10:20They're so cool.
10:22I found a boy that didn't scare them.
10:23Look at all the bats in this tunnel.
10:25Let's continue.
10:26Wait, I actually, unironically, I don't know.
10:29Do bats bite humans?
10:30I found a hiding spot.
10:31Oh, there's a bat.
10:33Jimmy, get you a hit of this oxygen.
10:35So we're only getting deeper.
10:36Here, get you some.
10:37Air is getting thicker.
10:38But as we got closer to the end, we were confronted by the final boss of this secret tunnel.
10:43See those stalactites?
10:47Jimmy, behind you is the biggest spider in the world.
10:48Oh, my God.
10:50What did the Mayans give the insects down here?
10:52Why do you think the world's largest spider is at the end of a secret tunnel in the most
10:56sacred place of the Mayans?
10:57It's protecting something.
10:58What do you think?
10:59I think so.
11:00So instead of fighting the final boss, we let the secret tunnel keep its secrets.
11:07Oh, my gosh.
11:08That was terrifying.
11:10I almost threw the oxygen tank right at your face.
11:12And after escaping with our lives, we were exhausted.
11:15So we headed to our new camp to turn in.
11:17Because not only were we going to need our energy for the seventh wonder of the world,
11:21but for day four, I wanted to know what the Mayans did for fun.
11:24Starting with the first ever team-based game to use a ball.
11:27Over 3,000 years ago, the Mayans invented the game of pits, where you score by shooting
11:32a ball through a small hoop, kind of like basketball.
11:34Only you can't use your hands or your feet.
11:37But remember what we said all the way back in day two.
11:40The losing captain's head would get cut off.
11:43The head?
11:44Oh, this is hard.
11:50I'd say we're going to get the hang of it.
11:51And although we started to get a handle on the ball, it's safe to say we were still far
11:55from scoring.
11:56So I even brought in our camera guys to help out.
11:59But even then, failure after failure only brought us countless more failures.
12:08We might not ever score.
12:10But in ancient times, giving up meant literally losing your head.
12:14Nolan, you better stand up, bro.
12:15And so failure after failure continued until...
12:27And after a long day of this brutal sport, the surviving players might have celebrated
12:31by heading down a sinkhole for a relaxing dip in the natural pools.
12:35And while I'm not cutting any heads off, Nolan did lose at pits.
12:40Is the water cold?
12:42No, it's kind of refreshing.
12:43Oh, is it?
12:43Yeah.
12:45One more.
12:49This water feels amazing.
12:51It doesn't look like you think it feels amazing.
12:53Oh, it's so cold.
12:54And although a swim in the cenote is refreshing, the craziest Mayan temple, a literal seventh
12:59wonder of the world, is still to come.
13:01But first, a classic Mayan dinner.
13:04So everything you're seeing here is what the Mayans used to eat over a thousand years ago.
13:09As you've heard throughout this video, they worship the corn god.
13:12And if you don't know, corn is a main ingredient in tortillas.
13:15Whoever's editing this, did the Mayans invent tacos, yes or no?
13:19To our final night, cheers.
13:21Enjoy the Mayan tacos.
13:23And to wrap up the night, we have a special Mayan dessert, the brand new Feastables peanut
13:28butter cups.
13:29Wait, brand new, but it's a Mayan dessert?
13:31Don't ask questions.
13:32It's dessert.
13:33Here you go.
13:33The king of marketing over here.
13:34Oh, look at how much peanut butter is in there.
13:36Isn't it sad that there are humans on this earth whose taste buds have not been blessed
13:40with the brand new Feastables peanut butter cups?
13:42So if you want an ethically sourced, amazing tasting snack, make sure you reach for Feastables.
13:47It's good.
13:48The only Mayan approved snack on the planet.
13:50Before I go to sleep, I want to let you guys know that I'm giving away $500,000 to 10
13:55random people that subscribe to the channel.
13:57No joke, my birthday is coming up.
13:58And to celebrate, 10 random people that subscribe to the channel will win $50,000 each.
14:02Thanks to Jack Links, the best beef jerky, for providing me with this awesome birthday
14:06present.
14:07And I'll see you guys at the seventh wonder of the world.
14:10And with the last remaining hours of our trip here, it's the moment you've all been waiting
14:14for.
14:15The seventh wonder of the world, the temple of Kugul Khan.
14:19Whoa, this is so cool.
14:21I can't believe we're actually here.
14:23Kugul Khan is one of the seven wonders of the world, partially for its grand size, but
14:27weirdly enough, also for the way it sounds.
14:29The Mayans somehow constructed this in a way where if you clap in front of it, you hear
14:35what sounds like a laser coming back at you.
14:40All right, anyways, what we actually came here for.
14:43At the top of this pyramid is a temple so sacred to the locals that no one is allowed up
14:48there,
14:48which begs the question of what Mayan secrets lay in that ancient room.
14:53Out of respect for the culture and all the people who hold this very sacred, we are not
14:56going to touch the temple.
14:58Instead, we're going to fly this drone up to see what's in that secret room.
15:02You cool with this?
15:03Yeah, this is cool.
15:05Godspeed.
15:07Oh my gosh, this looks so majestic.
15:09I'm dying to know.
15:11All right, let's see what's in this room.
15:14Wait.
15:15Arthur, the room's empty.
15:17Well, 500 years ago, the Spanish came here and they take a lot of the stuff inside.
15:23But before everything was sadly stolen, this is what historians believe the seventh wonder
15:28of the world looked like.
15:30I'm not going to lie, it's actually very beautiful.
15:32And while we didn't find any gold, I'm grateful that I could even visit these ancient monuments
15:37and share with you guys.
15:38Thank you so much.
15:39Guys, I love you, Mexico.
15:41It's been great.
15:42See you later.
15:42See you later.
