00:19:38I've always dreamed of this.
00:19:42Um, I would like to thank Mr. Mooney and all the kids back at Pine Tree Elementary School in Chagrin

00:20:58Eleven years old.
00:21:00How's your little guy?
00:21:35Coming!
00:21:59Who are you and what the hell are you doing in my apartment?
00:22:02I'm the super, the plumber. You said to come in.
00:22:06Super plumber, huh? You always break into people's homes?
00:22:10I have keys. I have all the keys. I live here.
00:22:14I'm the super and the plumber to this building. Don't kill me.
00:22:20You live here?
00:22:25Oh, I'm sorry. I'm... We just moved in. I'm a little bit on edge.
00:22:31Oh, excuse me. I had a little accident.
00:22:35Look, why don't you just start doing whatever it is you have to do.
00:22:40I have to change.
00:22:44Are you going to be long? Because I was just going out.
00:22:47I just came by to see if you needed any help. Any problems.
00:22:51No. But what's with that refrigerator?
00:22:54It keeps slamming shut on me.
00:22:56And also, there's some weird draft coming from the cabinet.
00:22:59Under the sink?
00:23:04Oh, hi, Mommy. How are you? Are you okay?
00:23:08I'm just rushing out to my first audition for a Broadway musical.
00:23:12Uh-huh. And Steve's at work. Some friends from college came over.
00:23:16We've got our own life now.
00:23:17But I've got some soup going, and it's very hectic.
00:23:21Yeah. No surprise visits, all right?
00:23:24Okay. Okay. Okay. Bye-bye.
00:23:28Excuse me.
00:23:30I couldn't help overhear that you were an actress.
00:23:32I, too, am a performer.
00:23:34When I lived in Bolivia, I used to dance professionally.
00:23:39Flamenco.
00:24:03That's great, really, but are you going to be long?
00:24:06Because I have to leave in five minutes.
00:24:09You got a big hole down there. I could visit now.
00:24:11You could come back tomorrow.
00:24:13Look, I only came to try to be friendly, okay?
00:24:15Okay. Bye-bye now.
00:24:21Good evening, morning.
00:24:30Hello? It's only me. I left my flashlight.
00:24:34Okay. Could you get it and please leave?
00:24:41Hello.
00:24:41Hi, honey. What's wrong?
00:24:43Nothing, honey. I'm just in a hurry. I've got to...
00:24:45I just wanted to say, I love this job.
00:24:48I don't know where it is, but the atmosphere is really...
00:24:50You're right, Steve, but I've got an audition. I've really got to go.
00:24:54Have you got everything?
00:24:55Jay, I see you in the morning.
00:24:57Who was that? Someone there?
00:24:59No, just the plumber. But, Steve, I can't talk now. I'm very late.
00:25:02I'll see you at home later.
00:25:05Steve, I've got to go. Bye.
00:25:14My keys.
00:25:16Shit. Where are my keys?
00:25:26My keys.

00:27:15Oh, my God.
00:27:30Oh, my God.
00:27:33Oh, my God.
00:27:51Steve?
00:27:53Steve?
00:27:54Is that you?
00:27:57Oh, my God.
00:27:59Oh, my God.
00:28:29Oh, my God.
00:28:49Oh, my God.

00:29:35Oh, my God, man.
00:29:46Oh, my God.
00:29:49Oh, my God.
00:29:52Think right, and in a couple of years, we're going to be sitting in that driver's seat and we can
00:29:57drive that wagon wherever we want.
00:30:21We're going to be right back.
00:30:51Mice, I heard them today.
00:31:24I saw those stairs, you know.
00:31:27Pardon me?
00:31:28Those guys in the store, I saw them staring at you.
00:31:31What's the matter with you?
00:31:33It's no big deal.
00:31:35Well, why do you let them leer at you like that?
00:31:37That encourages them, you know.
00:31:39Well, what did you do about it, Mr. Wagon Driver?
00:31:42Nothing.
00:32:02Hey.
00:32:05Don't use that.
00:32:06That's an expensive cheese.
00:32:08It's all we have.

00:35:18Dear!
00:35:21Sweetie, we are both about ready to crack.
00:35:26I feel it, too.
00:35:27This move is really putting a strain on us.
00:35:30But we can't let it destroy what we have.
00:35:33I'm here for you, baby.
00:35:36I'm here for you always.
00:35:38I love you.
00:35:39I love you.
00:35:40Oh, there go my eggs.
00:35:47You know what you ought to do today, hon?
00:35:50You ought to get out of here.
00:35:52Go shopping.
00:35:54Buy some things.
00:35:56You're right.
00:35:57You're right.
00:35:57I've got to get out of this place.
00:35:59Listen, I'm going to go get dressed, okay?
00:36:02It's time for me to make our first million.
00:36:05So you can spend it.
00:36:15full stock.
00:36:16Full stock.
00:36:16I've got the black.
00:36:16Check it out.
00:36:20Oh, shit.
00:36:21That's it.
00:36:31Excuse me.
00:36:34Any cabs around here?
00:37:33Hello, Mrs. Bayman.
00:37:45Hello, Mrs. Bayman.

00:39:02Steve, this is the plumber.
00:39:04He's just here to fix something.
00:39:06Oh, great.
00:39:07That's just great.
00:39:08Fantastic.
00:39:09What happened to you?
00:39:10Your clothes are filthy.
00:39:11Yeah, I know.
00:39:13And now I'm late as shit, and the car's fucked.
00:39:21Oh, no, please.
00:39:23Don't get up.
00:39:23Finish your coffee.
00:39:25Steve, what happened?
00:39:27Oh, you want to know what happened?
00:39:28I'm changing the goddamn tire, and some punk comes along and kicks my lug nuts into the gutter,
00:39:32and now I can't change the motherfucking tire at all.
00:39:35Some kids kicked your lug nuts?
00:40:05Don't even ask.
00:40:06You're a little late, Steve.
00:40:09Eileen, you're a very sensitive woman.
00:40:12You should go out and get some fresh air.
00:40:14Let the sunlight hit your hair.
00:40:17You think so?
00:40:18I know so.
00:40:19When I came from Bolivia five years ago, all I ever did was stay inside.
00:40:24You get into some very bad habits, like drinking, or even worse, daytime TV.
00:40:29I already do that.
00:40:31Oprah?
00:40:33Donahue.
00:40:37My dear lady, you're in deep, deep trouble.
00:40:45You can just lock the door when you're done.
00:40:47Okay.
00:40:48We'll be finished soon.
00:40:49And the refrigerator?
00:40:51Oh, yeah.
00:40:53Paolo's going to stay and fix that.
00:40:54I got to fix the apartment downstairs.
00:40:56It's totally leaking.
00:40:57But it's okay.
00:40:58Whatever you want, he can do it.
00:41:00He's like my brother.
00:41:02You're welcome.
00:41:03Help yourself to lunch if you get hungry, whatever's in there.
00:41:06And thanks, Juan.
00:41:10You're welcome.
00:41:12Bye-bye.
00:41:20I got the block.
00:41:21Come on.
00:41:22I got the block.
00:41:23Come on.
00:41:24Over here, pal.
00:41:25I got the block.
00:41:28Come on.
00:41:29I got the block.
00:41:52My dear, speak to me.
00:41:57Yours is the voice I long to hear, speak, speak to me, speak to me.
00:42:11Yours is the voice I long to hear, speak, speak, speak.
00:42:21Reborn from garbage, Eileen, with new life, new meaning.
00:42:28Life and meaning go together, don't you think, Eileen?
00:42:32Yes, I do.
00:42:34I hope so.
00:42:36You must be strong, Eileen.
00:42:38Know what has true meaning, what to accept.
00:42:42You must not breed in weakness.
00:42:45What?
00:42:46Do not breed in weakness.
00:42:49Chaos asks you to breed in confusion, in shame, lower than an animal.
00:42:56Do not succumb to the cold white womb of his society.
00:43:01I hear you.
00:43:16I hear you.
00:43:21I hear you.
00:43:27Cut it inzyć me.
00:43:30No!
00:43:30No context omar,tNatalie.
00:43:37I don't know.
00:44:11I don't know.
00:44:52I don't know.
00:45:04I don't know.
00:45:15Good morning, Mr. Walters. How are you doing today?
00:45:18Good. Real good.
00:45:20How's Mrs. Walters? The family?
00:45:24My wife and I have been separated three years this August.
00:45:29That must be pretty tough on little Mike.
00:45:33I understand he had a birthday recently.
00:45:37I know what you're trying to do.
00:45:38You're trying to kiss my butt because you think you're going to get a head around here.
00:45:42Well, forget it. You're not. Not by me.
00:45:44I don't like brown nosers.
00:45:46I built this department from nothing with nothing, my friend.
00:45:50Nothing but good, hard, honest work.
00:45:53I see what you're up to, Buster. And I don't like it.
00:46:02Say, Bateman, perhaps no one has fully explained your duties around here.
00:46:06You see, you are the low man on the totem pole.
00:46:11That means you are the guy that can always blame for fuck-ups.

00:54:44Hello, Mrs. Bateman.
00:54:46Have you seen Paolo today?
00:54:49No, I haven't.
00:54:51Would you like a cup of coffee?
00:54:53No, thank you.
00:54:54I have so much work to do today.
00:54:56Are you sure?
00:54:58No, thanks, Mrs. Bateman.
00:55:21How are you, Mrs. Bateman?
00:55:25Okay.
00:55:32If you see Paolo, tell him I'm done on four.
00:55:49Oh.
00:55:51Okay.
00:55:54Oh.
00:55:56Oh.
00:55:57Oh.
00:56:22Come in, one!
00:56:25Mother!
00:56:27Hello, darling.
00:56:33Can I get you some coffee, Sanka?
00:56:38Yes, thank you.
00:56:39Well, I mean, this is really something.
00:56:45It has possibilities.
00:56:48What are you doing here?
00:56:50I just came to see how my little girl was doing in her first apartment.
00:56:54How are you, sweetie?
00:56:56We're just fine.
00:57:01How's everything at home with Daddy?
00:57:05Your father is fine.
00:57:21Some lemon and lime curtains could really dress this place up.
00:57:24Lots of sunlight.
00:57:25Put a little window box garden here.
00:57:27We have a whole rooftop to use for that.
00:57:30Would you like to see it?
00:57:37This fair will give.
00:57:40Got to get a non-wax floor polish to protect these floors.
00:57:45Kitchen floor really takes abuse.
00:57:49Okay, Mom.
00:57:52Eileen.
00:57:53Yes, Mommy?
00:57:55Sit down, Eileen.
00:57:56I want to talk to you.
00:58:05What is it, Mommy?
00:58:08Is it about Daddy?
00:58:10I came here for a reason, Eileen.
00:58:14I want to explain something to you.
00:58:18I feel I owe you an explanation.
00:58:20No explanations needed, Mommy.
00:58:22Where's Daddy?
00:58:24I had to leave your father at home.
00:58:27That's part of what I came here for.
00:58:29I know.
00:58:31I put a lot of pressure on you when I was younger.
00:58:35Mom, the time has passed for this.
00:58:38I don't need it anymore.
00:58:39I would prefer we just go on being polite.
00:58:45When your father and I got married,
00:58:49I was very young and restless.
00:58:52No one prepared me.
00:58:55I didn't notice it for a while.
00:59:01I felt my world getting very small.
00:59:05Creeping up on me.
00:59:07Closing in on me.
00:59:10It wasn't like being alive anymore.
00:59:16I lost something.
00:59:19And were given things in its place.
00:59:23Things that were never right.
00:59:26Never enough.
00:59:29And I broke.
00:59:36I'll be good, Mommy.
00:59:38I will.
00:59:39No.
00:59:40No, Mommy.
00:59:41No.
00:59:43Mommy, please.
00:59:44Mommy.
00:59:45Mommy, no.
00:59:47Mommy, no.
00:59:48Mommy, please.
00:59:49I broke and I never wanted to do that.
00:59:57I never want you to get that desk.
01:00:01I won't, Mommy.
01:00:10Thank you, Eileen, for understanding.
01:00:18My pipe's a clean, plumber.
01:00:21What do you want?
01:00:23Tania, have you seen Paolo?
01:00:28Juan, sit down.
01:00:37I told you.
01:00:39I told you and you laughed.
01:00:41He has been taken.
01:00:43That is bullshit.
01:00:46Is it?
01:00:56Well, what do we have here?
01:00:58It looks like we're just going to have to start from scratch.
01:01:01You're going to need some planters.
01:01:02Wait a sec.
01:01:03Let me get a pen.
01:01:09Johnson & Johnson no-wax for the floor.
01:01:12Ajax ammonia.
01:01:15Disposable sponge mops.
01:01:18Arm and hammer.
01:01:19Have that?
01:01:20Mm-hmm.
01:01:20You get out of here now and let me get down to business.
01:01:23Okay, Mom.
01:01:24Be back in half an hour.
01:01:27Thanks.
01:01:31That's all I came for.
01:01:43Mm-hmm.
01:01:49Get down.
01:01:51Go.
01:01:58What the hell?
01:02:07Mommy?
01:02:11Mother?
01:02:14Mom?
01:02:16Mom?
01:02:17Mommy?
01:02:21Mommy?
01:02:41Juan, what the hell is going on here?
01:02:44You put my house keys in the refrigerator, didn't you?
01:02:47And then Paolo's hat.
01:02:48Why?
01:02:49Paolo's hat?
01:02:50Did you scare off my mother?
01:02:51Your mother?
01:02:52Eileen, listen to me.
01:02:54Think whatever you want to, but I'm not your enemy.
01:02:56I am the only one who can help you.
01:02:58How can you help me?
01:03:01There's something going on in your apartment, Eileen.
01:03:03Something unnatural.
01:03:04Sit down.
01:03:09I am your friend, Eileen.
01:03:15What's going on?
01:03:17Your refrigerator.
01:03:18It is the gateway to hell.
01:03:20It is evil, and the devil himself controls it.
01:03:23I didn't want to tell you before, Eileen,
01:03:25but the people that lived in your apartment before you,
01:03:27they disappeared.
01:03:29They left their car, their stereo, cash, visa card, everything.
01:03:34No one ever saw them again.
01:03:36Just gone.
01:03:38Are you telling me that our refrigerator is possessed?
01:03:46Are you telling me that our refrigerator is possessed?
01:03:51You've got to leave, Eileen.
01:03:53You and your husband, save yourself, if you can.
01:03:58Steve!
01:04:00Steve!
01:04:11My mother came by today, and then just disappeared.
01:04:15Isn't that strange?
01:04:16Now I get it.
01:04:17They're trying to scare us out so we sell now and blow our profits.
01:04:23Steve, the plumber told me the last tenants disappeared.
01:04:27Really?
01:04:29Yeah.
01:04:29Don't you think that's a little weird?
01:04:30Like with that girl today and with Paolo?
01:04:35Who's Paolo?
01:04:36He's the plumber's assistant.
01:04:38What are you doing with the plumber's assistant?
01:04:41Jesus, Steve!
01:04:42Nothing, but he is missing also!
01:04:50Steve, you used to be a lot different.
01:04:54We used to have so much fun together.
01:04:56You were so wild and crazy back at school.
01:04:59Well, that wasn't so long ago.
01:05:00Two or three years, maybe, right?
01:05:03Feels like a lot longer.
01:05:05Well, listen, don't worry about that, okay?
01:05:09You're going to see me plenty crazy in the years to come.
01:05:12That's not what I meant.
01:05:22What did you mean?
01:05:32Steve, who are you?
01:05:40I'm your husband.
01:05:47I'm your husband.
01:05:54I'm your husband.
01:05:57I'm your husband.
01:06:13What's up?
01:06:52Mother.
01:06:55Don't you want to come?
01:06:57Where are they going?
01:07:00The gateway is open.
01:07:10Steve!
01:07:19Hmm, bright and early, Bateman.
01:07:21Mr. Walters.
01:07:22I'm not serious.
01:07:51I'm not serious.
01:07:54Hello? Daddy? Daddy, this is Eileen. How are you? Listen, Daddy, do you know where Mommy is? I want to
01:08:02talk to her.
01:08:03No, Eileen. She left. She said some crazy things to me, and then she just went. But she'll turn up,
01:08:11you'll see. Why, I bet that's her now, knocking on the door. I better go, sweetie.
01:08:17Okay, Daddy. Thanks anyway.
01:08:19Goodbye, pumpkin.
01:08:40Damn it! Okay.
01:08:52Plunger? Mousetraps? Defrost? Action, housewife.
01:09:23Mousetrap?
01:09:36Defrost?

01:09:43Piano?
01:09:46Piano?

01:10:14Piano?
01:10:15Piano?
01:10:15What did you see?
01:10:17All of them. They're in there.
01:10:25Steve Bateman.
01:10:28What?
01:10:31Let me speak to her.
01:10:33She is.
01:10:36All right. Listen, who is this?
01:10:39Yeah, I remember you.
01:10:43Okay, thank you.
01:10:47Shit.
01:11:18Where have you been?
01:11:20Um, they said you were sleeping.
01:11:24What happened?
01:11:25I was sleeping.
01:11:28I got you these Valium.
01:11:30For your nerves.
01:11:32Get rid of that refrigerator.
01:11:36The refrigerator?
01:11:37You heard me, Steve.
01:11:39If you give a damn about me, get rid of it now.
01:11:42I most certainly do give a damn about you, but why should I get rid of the refrigerator all of
01:11:47a sudden?
01:11:48Don't give me a lot of crap, Steve.
01:11:49I'm not spending another night in this place with that thing.
01:11:52It leaks, it smells, it's noisy, and I don't like it.
01:11:56Now just do it for me now, damn it.
01:11:57Hey, hey, hey.
01:12:00Um, what are we supposed to do about food?
01:12:02What, am I supposed to go out and just buy another major appliance just like that because my wife is
01:12:06a little spooked about the fridge?
01:12:08I'll take it away, Ali.
01:12:09Thank you, Juan.
01:12:10Touch it, and I will have you arrested, pal.
01:12:13Juan will take it away.
01:12:14No, he will not.
01:12:17And it may interest you to know that I can't go around spending three or four hundred dollars at the
01:12:21drop of a hat.
01:12:23There's nothing wrong with that fridge.
01:12:26It keeps things cool.
01:12:29It's June now, and yet we can have ice-cold drinks when we want them.
01:12:34It keeps our food fresh.
01:12:36Without it, what we didn't eat would go rotten.
01:12:41Get out of here.
01:12:48I took time off from work so that I could get you these pills, so that you might sleep and
01:12:56calm down.
01:12:59Did I not do my cartwheels fast enough for you?
01:13:02Get out of here.
01:13:04I would rather be alone with myself than with a jerk like you.
01:13:07I don't know.
01:13:20Get out of here.
01:13:50Oh, my God.
01:14:07Oh, my God.
01:14:37Oh, my God.
01:14:38Oh, my God.
01:14:39Oh, my God.
01:14:41Oh, my God.
01:14:42Oh, my God.
01:14:50Hello, Bateman.
01:14:52Shame about that wife of yours, Eileen.
01:14:54It would have been nice to have her on board with us, but...
01:14:58But what?
01:15:00She's jumped ship, it seems.
01:15:07Too bad.
01:15:08Too bad.
01:15:09Mr. Walters, I can get her back.
01:15:12I don't think so.
01:15:14I know women.
01:15:15She's gone.
01:15:16No, no, no.
01:15:17No, no, no.
01:15:18You wait.
01:15:18Don't worry.
01:15:20You wait here.
01:15:20I'll get her.
01:15:28Eileen.
01:15:29Come on.
01:15:35Where?
01:15:38No.
01:15:39No, Steve.
01:15:41Put me down.
01:15:42It's where you belong.
01:15:44Steve, put me down.
01:15:51Steve.
01:15:52Don't you want to come?
01:15:54Put me down.
01:15:55What is it?
01:15:57Oh, Steve!
01:16:00Oh, Steve!
01:16:13I...

01:16:14your...
01:16:15husband.
01:16:21Get away...
01:16:23Eileen.
01:16:24I need to swim, swim away my little kissing face.
01:16:51I need to swim, I need to swim.
01:17:23I need to swim, I need to swim.
01:17:28I need to swim.
01:17:30I need to swim.
01:17:48I killed him.
