00:24We're going to be harvesting in a few months time so we really need to know that the diesel
00:28is going to be there and also at a price we can afford.
00:31The Premier's hoping to assure farmers by securing a state diesel reserve.
00:38We've never done something like this before and we're doing it for a reason.
00:42We've got no guarantees around what happens in the future and we just want to prepare
00:45for the worst case scenario.
00:47Under a $40 million deal signed with fuel supplier IOR, the government will buy and store 10 million
00:54litres of diesel at Port Bonython.
00:56With the option of increasing that reserve to 20 million litres.
01:00It's approximately four days worth of diesel supply on top of the around about 30 days that
01:07is currently here at the moment.
01:09It's exactly what we've been calling for, for the government to act on for the last three
01:13weeks now.
01:14This SA reserve is in addition to the federal government's 1 billion litre emergency diesel
01:20and aviation fuel reserve to be outlined in this week's budget.
01:23All up more than $10 billion of federal money will be spent bolstering Australia's fuel security.
01:30For Mr Schuster it's a welcome buffer.
