32:11So I actually had
32:11Two cases against him
32:12My civil case
32:14And then there was
32:15A criminal case
32:16For the actual
32:17Domestic assault
32:19His family
32:20Couldn't contact me
32:20His friends
32:21Couldn't contact me
32:22He obviously
32:23Couldn't contact me
32:24The engagement
32:25Was definitely off
32:27Completely cut
32:28All ties
32:29On
32:29On that day
32:42I am an assistant
32:44District attorney
32:45Here in Knoxville, Tennessee
32:48I've been in various units
32:50Within the office
32:50One of them being
32:52The domestic violence unit
32:53When I got the case file
32:55What initially stood out
32:57To me
32:58Was just
32:58The amount of violence
32:59Involved
33:01In this particular
33:02Assault
33:02There was literally
33:04Almost an injury
33:05To every part of her body
33:07That you could see
33:08I could tell that
33:10This was an incredibly
33:11Brutal attack
33:13That took some time
33:15To happen
33:19At Mr. Paschel's arraignment
33:20Jeffrey was charged
33:22With aggravated kidnapping
33:24Domestic assault
33:25And interference
33:27With a 911 emergency call
33:30There was an offer
33:32Betrayed to him
33:33To plead to
33:34A felony offense
33:35That was a four year
33:36Probation offer
33:37No jail time
33:39This saves the victim

34:14When I finally got
34:15To speak with Kristen

34:22That he was blessed

34:25We started talking
34:26About the things

35:23For the first time ever

35:31Is a reality show
35:32That follows
35:33International couples
35:34Who have met online
35:36Basically
35:36The premise of the show
35:38Is that they're already
35:39Dating before they meet
35:40For the first time
35:41Which means
35:42Apparently he was
35:43In a whole other
35:44Relationship
35:45With someone from Russia
35:46During our engagement
35:49I met my girlfriend
35:50Online several months ago
35:51I truly believe
35:53That Varia and I
35:53Are meant to be together
35:54If things go well
35:55With Varia
35:56I'm going to propose to her
35:59So the assault
36:00Happened on June 9th
36:02She acted
36:03Absolutely
36:03I mean
36:04Crazy
36:05And by July
36:06He's already in Russia
36:07Filming
36:10I was still black and blue
36:13I'm sure he was already
36:14Cast for the show
36:15When my assault happened
36:16So they wouldn't
36:17Have caught that
36:19But he had several
36:20Criminal convictions
36:22Before he was on

36:25I was able to find

36:32To find these convictions

42:51But the weight of the evidence
42:53Was so strong against that
42:55And I think that the jury
42:57Saw that

43:03They actually weren't out
43:04For very long
43:06It was actually just a few hours
43:10The jury came back
43:11With a verdict
43:11Really quickly
43:12I was shaking
43:13And I was terrified
43:15And I held my parents' hands
43:19I didn't know
43:20What way it was going to go

44:44When you say threats
44:45What kind of threats
44:46To kill me
44:50She testified to
44:52Them taking trips together
44:54Where he would strangle her
44:55She testified about a time
44:57Where he held her face
44:59Close to a fire
45:00And then she testified
45:01About a time
45:02Where she had actually moved
45:04They were split up
45:05At the time
45:06And she comes home
45:07And finds him
45:08In her home
45:09He immediately
45:11Attacked me
45:11And grabbed me
45:12And shoved me
45:13Into the wall
45:14Threw me on the ground
45:17Strangled me
45:19When I finally broke free
45:21He went and swung
45:23At me
45:23And I moved
45:25So he could hit
45:26The top of my head
45:27Versus my face
45:31When Allison was on the stand
45:34I felt like I went backwards
45:36To my own abuse
45:37And I had to leave
45:38The courtroom
45:40She testified
45:41That he raped her
45:43I think that
45:44That everybody
45:44In the courtroom
45:45When she was testifying
45:47About that
45:47You know
45:47We were all
45:48Extremely disturbed by it
45:50I mean
45:50Her abuse went on
45:51For years
45:52So her testimony
45:53Was incredibly powerful
45:55At sentencing
45:58Every defendant
45:59Has the right
45:59To be heard
46:00At sentencing
46:01And Jeffrey Paschel
46:02Took that opportunity
46:06I have a beautiful family
46:12People friends
46:15I'm a dad
46:17He focused on
46:19I've got all these children
46:21And friends
46:22And family
46:23What did he not focus on
46:25The victims
46:26I go out of my way
46:27To help people
46:29I don't need anything
46:30I don't want anything
46:33It just gives me
46:35That internal satisfaction

47:43As much emotional damage
47:44To these women

47:48That the appropriate sentence
47:49In this case
47:49Is 18 years to serve
47:53This was an unusual case
47:55Because the state
47:56Requested 16 years
47:57The defense
47:58Argued for fewer
47:59The judge
48:01Didn't do either
48:02Of those things
48:02Instead said
48:04I'm giving you more
48:06Not only did I
48:07Take my power back
48:08But I felt like
48:09I gave power back
48:10To so many women
48:11That he has taken it
48:12From over the years
48:13And when Jeffrey
48:14Was found guilty
48:16It made every bit
48:18Of suffering worth it
