00:00Stop letting coffee snobs tell you that you need to spend thousands of dollars on coffee
00:04gadgets just to make a decent latte. You only need three things. A coffee machine,
00:09a really good grinder and a coffee scale. None of these things have to be expensive.
00:14Welcome back to The Coffee Lab where I strip away the fluff to find out what actually matters
00:18in your cup. Today I'm showing you the only things that me, a barista, thinks you actually need.
00:24First, the machine. Not only is the Breville Bambino the only machine I've ever given a
00:28five-star rating but it's also one of the most affordable yet full-featured machines I've ever
00:34tested. At $300 it punches way above its weight and busts out back-to-back drinks with ease.
00:40Second, a good grinder. This is the Commandante C40. It uses surgical grade steel burrs and it's the
00:47best manual grinder I've ever tested but even with a lifetime warranty I know $300 for a grinder is a
00:53big ask so if you're on a budget grab the Baratza Encore ESP or even the Breville Dose Control
00:58Pro. People online love to hate on the Breville but honestly most people can't even taste the
01:03difference. Get what you can afford. Third, a scale because consistency is everything.
01:09I use the Wakako Exagram Pro. It's under $50, it fits perfectly on my drip tray and it has a
01:14built-in timer but honestly even cheaper scales work just fine. I really like Kitchen Tool's $20
01:20scale too so with good beans, the right ratios and these three staples you can make barista quality
01:25coffees at home. Let me know if you have any favourite budget-friendly coffee gear
01:29here and be sure to follow for more from The Coffee Lab.
