00:05.
00:06.
00:08.
00:18It's on a crazy pounder.
00:28Hi there.
00:29Hi.
00:30The reason I stopped you is you don't have any taillights.
00:32They're not working.
00:32Oh.
00:34I probably didn't turn them that long.
00:36Yeah, it looks like it.
00:36That's probably the problem.
00:37Do you have a driver's license with you?
00:39Yeah.
00:40Sir, do you happen to have an idea with you?
00:41I don't know.
00:42What's your name?
00:43Bryce.
00:44Did you spell Bryce with a Y or an I?
00:49B-R-Y-C-E.
00:51Which day of birth, Bryce?
00:53724-90.
00:54Er, it's not 90, Bryce.
01:01724-23.
01:03Oh, sorry.
01:05Is that your real name and date of birth?
01:06Yes, sir.
01:07How come it takes you so long to figure out your date of birth?
01:09Uh, sorry, man.
01:10I was just, I'm reading something here on the internet, so.
01:14All right, man.
01:15Tell me your real name.
01:17This is Tyler.
01:18Okay.
01:20Pass here.
01:21So, Tyler updated him.
01:23Why would you not tell me your real name?
01:25Do you have a warrant?
01:27I don't know if you have a warrant or not.
01:28I don't know if I have a warrant or not.
01:30Go ahead.
01:33Step for it.
01:35All right.
01:35Tyler, you do have a warrant?
01:36Yeah.
01:37Um, I am going to take you.
01:38Yeah.
01:44All right, man.
01:45You need to feel all right?
01:45Just put your phone together.
01:47Okay.
01:47Yeah, sorry about that, man.
01:49You just panicky, you know.
01:50I'm just trying to deal.
01:52Fight over.
01:54Oh, f***.
01:57Oh, man.
02:22Oh, man.
02:26This county is the biggest county between Denver and Salt Lake, Utah.
02:30We do have a lot of theft, a lot of drug violations, drug trafficking.
02:35Come on in, Tyler.
02:39You guys are hating on your face.
02:42Stop.
02:44It'll be a few minutes before they get cut out of it.
02:47This is why I'm a sheriff's s***.
02:49You people.
02:53How you doing, sir?
02:54Oh, f***.
02:55It's only the second time here, man.
02:57I don't like this jail.
02:58Stand up for your office.
02:59Walk for me.
03:01Let me show you a picture from now on you.
03:02Yes, sir.
03:03If I find anything, you'll see another charge.
03:05Yeah.
03:05I'm going to take the doctor, all right?
03:07All right.
03:07And your gray jacket, I'll put it.
03:10All right, you don't get yourself.
03:21The last time I got out, I had a medical issue, where I wasn't able to make my court date,
03:26so they put out a warrant, and then I got arrested on that.
03:30Can you tell me about your original charge?
03:32I got pulled over, ended up having some drugs on us, and then I just got that dangerous
03:40drugs charge.
03:41Start with every step out of the car.
03:45Put your hands on your back for me.
03:50That's a tucker?
03:52Uh, what do you see in the car?
04:00You're good to leave the truck out, right?
04:04Drugs kind of played a big part in my arrest and the way I've been recently.
04:11Looks like you came in with a recovery book.
04:13Are you trying to clean up?
04:15You know, when it comes to meth and fentanyl, which are two pretty ugly things, plays a huge
04:22factor in a lot of different things.
04:26You know, I got two kids that depend on me.
04:28My son, he's 10, and my daughter, she's 7.
04:33That's all I got left.
04:35You know, I really want to make a change.
04:38Grab some of the mattress and a blanket.
04:45It sucks when you're in here, and everything's on a standstill for you, but the world's still
04:50going.
04:54Trying to get out, you know, all I want in my life is just me and my two kids.
04:59I'm just waiting for court.
05:11This rookie, you won't tell me his badge number before I have been arrested.
05:16Be patient.
05:17I don't have patience.
05:18You know, I don't give a what he has to do.
05:21We got plenty of different types of arrestees.
05:24There's our frequent flyers.
05:25I have a seat, gentlemen.
05:30Some don't care about following the rules, don't care how they act.
05:35Come here, bro.
05:36Come here.
05:38Head down this way.
05:41But we also have the ones on the other side of the spectrum.
05:44They've been through the system.
05:45They know what they need to do, and they follow the rules.
05:49I take your cops off.
05:50He ends on the wall like this.
05:51I'm a station.
05:51I'll put it there.
05:52I've been through this process just here like two weeks ago.
05:55Right, right.
05:57Give me a phone while he's coming in.
05:59It's a violation of probation.
06:10All right, you want to step in that way.
06:13Step right in that cover hole right there.
06:14He was arrested originally for grand theft.
06:22Part of the sentence for him is to do drug court.
06:26Drug court gets either a six-month-old year-long program where they have to report so often.
06:32Obviously, he can't use drugs, alcohol, or anything like that.
06:35All right, everything you're wearing, hand to me.
06:37Put all that stuff on.
06:38So he violated that drug court probation because they said his urine has not been cleaned since
06:44he's been on the program.
06:46Have a seat on the bench.
06:52Stop banging.
06:53You're going to end up in the chair if you don't stop.
06:55My first charge is grand theft, which is why my grandpa doesn't really like me.
07:01Did you like use his credit card?
07:03Yeah.
07:04I had had it for years on my phone, so I was just using it there.
07:09What's up, man?
07:10How are you?
07:12Do you have his card?
07:14I have his card.
07:16Put it on my cash wrap.
07:17Put his card on my cash wrap.
07:19How much have you taken?
07:22I don't know.
07:23I was grand.
07:24But I don't know.
07:25It's kind of just been like a get it, I think.
07:29Yeah.
07:30It's available, get it.
07:31So he's wanting to go through a charge.
07:33So we're going to make an arrest right now, okay?
07:35And that was fresh after I was 18 until I'm 19 now.
07:39So right as I turned 18, he was like, yep, you know, there goes your life.
07:44And boom, ended me up here.
07:47Stop right now.
07:49You understand me?
07:50Stop.
07:51Do you guys tell me what to do?
07:52I'm in jail.
07:53And then with my charge, my restitution is over 16 grand.
07:58And so made it really hard.
08:01Like at 18 years old, you can't find a job because you have a stealing money charge.
08:05Like, even now, I've lost my job out there.
08:09It's really just miserable.
08:12All right.
08:13I'll take you back.
08:19After doing this for almost 20 years, I've seen it all.
08:23This is going to hit him good.
08:24I don't think he's happy to be here.
08:44Tyler, let's go to court, man.
08:52Just hang out right here for me.
08:57I don't think it's too much sleep, man.
09:00We got a guy in there snoring like crazy.
09:02Other than that, you know, I'm feeling good.
09:04I'll get back to my kids.
09:05And they mean the world to me.
09:06So this is, you know, this is kind of like my last chance when it comes to that, you know.
09:14Okay, line up.
09:24Go ahead, guys.
09:26You don't want to get me out in here in a moment.
09:30Man, what the f***?
09:31Go back.
09:32Go back.
09:39It's on the floor.
09:40I'm grading my pat-downs for court.
09:42I was getting our inmates out for court, and I noticed that on the ground there was a small bag
09:48that had a blue substance on the inside of it.
09:51This appears to be fentanyl tablets, at a glance, anywhere from 10 to 20 pills.
09:57I have suspicion of who it is.
09:59He was putting his hands in his waistband, and at one point he even put his left hand on his
10:06groin area.
10:07We have reason to believe that one of the individuals had this item in their possession.
10:12Tyler?
10:12Yeah, fuck it.
10:29It's on the floor, over by the railing, after I did my pat-downs for court.
10:33After reviewing some video footage, it looks like he dropped a small baggie with a blue powdery substance.
10:50When individuals bring drug contraband into our facility, it results in a felony charge.
10:56In reviewing some of our facility video cameras, we determined which inmate the package came from.
11:22We're not only doing strip searches on the people in the cell, but we're also checking all the blankets and
11:27mats to make sure there's not other contraband in it.
11:30We're going to put it in our evidence locker for safekeeping.
11:33Given the amount, it is probably a low-level drug felony, but still a drug felony.
11:39And he'll have another day in court.
11:42That's the hell.
11:44It was in your pants.
11:45It was on your person.
11:46It fell out.
11:46And if you guys gave me...
11:48I'm done talking about it.
11:49You're not going to talk about it.
11:50Why?
11:50Why are you going to talk about it?
11:53Regular screening, everything.
11:54The pants they gave me, something falls out of it onto the floor.
11:58What do you think about that?
11:59You can talk to your attorney, sir.
12:01Weird, right?
12:02Weird.
12:03Talk to my attorney about that.
12:04Yep.
12:06It's not going to be a part of the clothing that he gets, because everything gets washed, everything gets gone
12:10through.
12:10Now another inmate could have given it to him in the cell if it wasn't him that brought it in.
12:16Unfortunately, it was on his person, and he's getting the charges.
12:42It's not going to be a part of the writing a little bit.
12:45Okay, it's time to go.
12:47My time has expired.
12:49It's really hard to reason when someone is intoxicated.
12:52I just have a seat to the right.
12:54Sit down, ma'am.
12:55No, you, ma'am.
12:57So you have to be very patient and deal with that.
13:00Please tell them lies.
13:02Not my story.
13:03That's not what I said at all.
13:06Sometimes what they feel like is a crisis or the worst day of their lives,
13:09not really what's reality.
13:12So what brings you in?
13:13Why were you arrested?
13:15So I was Ubering, and I went to go pick up my first ride of the night.
13:20No man picking all the drunk people up from the bars and stuff.
13:24And the officer pulled into the parking lot, and two guys got in the back of the car.
13:29I left.
13:30He made a U-turn and turned his lights on and says,
13:33I have a warrant from IRS.
13:36What did they tell you, though, the warrant was for?
13:38It just says embezzlement $1,000.
13:41That's all I know.
13:42And it's not money, though.
13:43So I don't know.
13:51I have no idea what it's about.
13:53I don't know anything about it.
13:54I've never stolen my life.
13:55I don't steal.
13:57Yeah.
13:57Have you ever been in jail before?
14:00When I was 18, I was.
14:02I mean, it's been so long since I've been in here, and things have changed since I was 18 to
14:06where I am now.
14:07So I have a wife and two kids.
14:10Hopefully I can get taken care of and bonded and get home.
14:17I don't know.
14:17You weren't the wrong thing, bro.
14:22It's back there.
14:24There was a moped that had been stolen.
14:28I purchased a moped off somebody, and now I'm getting pinned down for it, I guess.
14:34possession of stolen property.
14:44This is crazy.
14:52This bitch-ass police officer telling the magistrate the wrong
14:57and I tried to correct him, and there's a magistrate that made me leave.
15:04He is very closely working on my life tonight.
15:08What's his bond status?
15:10Yeah, he can roll.
15:11I'm supposed to make money tomorrow, bro.
15:15I'm not the wrong .
15:17This is insane.
15:19There's no reason to get irate like stupid
15:21because you're not going to get nowhere.
15:35Get off there!
15:36Get on your stomach!
15:38I'm taking it!
15:49You can stand up, turn around and face the wall.
15:57All right, bring your hands to the front.
15:59Take a seat.
15:59Can you tell us why you were brought to jail today?
16:02I was brought for a warrant.
16:04I missed my court on Monday for a DWAI.
16:21I got home, I made a hot chocolate.
16:23I ran up some salt bath.
16:25I was gonna soak and get those fumes.
16:27And right when I am trying to get in the bath,
16:29there's banging Mesa County Sheriff's Department.
16:32I do need to come to the door right now.
16:34And I'm like, oh my God, okay, like, don't hate me.
16:37It was terrifying.
16:40What was your original charge?
16:43I moved in with my elderly dad.
16:45And so I was at his house one day,
16:48and this big dog came barreling across the yard.
16:51He was aggressive. I was scared.
16:53I called 911. I got in the car.
16:56And I drove up to the top of dad's driveway
16:59to wait for the officers.
17:01But I had had two wine poolers.
17:04Stupid.
17:05It didn't even dawn on me, guess what?
17:07You just got a DWAI.
17:17What made you miss your court?
17:19Did you have a conflict?
17:20Rest reporting.
17:21She was so, so sick.
17:30I can't believe I'm here.
17:33Hey!
17:34Hey!
17:36Hey!
17:36Hey!
17:37The worst part is I have two puppies.
17:41And they were just, like, lying and crying and crying,
17:44like, where are you going?
17:45And they were trying to get to me.
17:47I don't know what happens.
17:49Like, I mean, the judge can either potentially let me go
17:54or he can hold me, and I don't know how long.
17:57Uh, here. I'll trade you.
18:00Pass him down here.
18:01If you close it, it'll lock, so...
18:03Don't close it.
18:03Just be closed on it, yeah.
18:09Hey!
18:11Hey!
18:12Hey!
18:12Hey!
18:16On the ground!
18:18On the ground!
18:31On the ground!
18:33On the ground!
18:34On the ground!
18:35On the ground!
18:35On the ground!
18:36On the ground!
18:36On the ground!
18:36Security, can I get you off the bucket, please?
18:38She thought I was running my mouth,
18:39and then she came out my face.
18:41She, like, scratched, grabbed whatever she could,
18:44like, I'm alright.
18:51It's just a positive color, could be worse, better than green, maybe.
18:58Now come on back.
19:04Excuse me, I'm here.
19:06I'm failure to appear more.
19:08They all have a $1,500 cash assurity bond.
19:11It basically means you can use a bond.
19:13A bond will charge you roughly 15% of whatever the amount is,
19:17so it would probably be $500.
19:20That's what they'll charge you to bond you up.
19:22If not, you'll see the judge tomorrow, and they might change the bond.
19:31Here's your pin number for the phone.
19:32You're already enrolled, and you do have your three phone calls on.
19:34Okay.
19:39I'm calling my friend.
19:42Hi.
19:43I'm listening to my voice.
19:44It makes me sound terrible.
19:45I'm sorry.
19:46Are you still at my house with the dogs?
19:49Thank you so much.
19:51We'll talk soon.
19:52Bye-bye.
19:55If I bond out tonight, it's $500.
19:58If I spend the night, they waive the $500, and I go to court in the morning.
20:04So should I just stay and save the $500?
20:09Because that's a lot of money.
20:12I could get some really good sleep.
20:14I don't know.
20:15I might cave and call the bell bondsmen as they come.
20:35We're all here.
20:38We have to go home.
20:38Hello.
20:39****
20:39****
20:45Just keep thisRay in town and just leave the green areas and go with ****
20:50****
20:51Being an **** doesn't get you anywhere.
20:53They're doing their job.
20:54So you have to be as calm as you can and just go with the flow.
21:07I'm concerned because I don't know what it's about.
21:09I'm clueless.
21:10I have no idea.
21:11The wife and daughter don't have their way up here now.
21:14That way, if I can get bonded, they're already here, so we'll see what happens.
21:19Lee.
21:20Lee.
21:29I had no idea about the charge.
21:46Thank you, ma'am.
21:56Oh, now I get the handcuffs off.
21:58Just for a moment.
21:59I know.
22:00I think it's horrible.
22:02So this is an old charge, yeah?
22:04I haven't worked for the company in two years,
22:06and, like, I was completely floored with the top building.
22:08What did you do there?
22:10HVAC, keeping it there.
22:11Ah, okay.
22:12And you have no idea what this is about?
22:14I have none.
22:15And I do background checks all the time for my work.
22:18Plus, Uber does them as well.
22:19They do them periodically.
22:21That's crazy.
22:22Apparently, they had a very old warrant back in 2022 for embezzlement.
22:27Go ahead and turn your head to the right.
22:29The company was bought out from another company,
22:31so who knows if the new one is going to follow through with it or not.
22:35It sounds like you're not spending the night here tonight.
22:39No, thank goodness.
22:41Hey, that was quick, guys.
22:51Oh, you're going to let me out.
22:52Are you here?
22:54I guess it's some kind of, like, tools or uniforms or something.
22:57I have no idea.
22:58It's $1,000 is what it says.
22:59It makes no sense.
23:00So I have to come back to court on the 22nd.
23:02I'll give you the rundown and everything when I come out there, okay?
23:05Love you, bye.
23:07All right, let's get your stuff over here before we get you out of here.
23:11He's got a $2,500 on secure bond,
23:14so the only time that he'll be responsible for that money
23:17is if he doesn't show up to court.
23:19This way?
23:20Yes, sir.
23:24All right, good luck.
23:33I promise you.
23:36I love you.
23:37I'm sorry.
23:41Can I stay home?
23:44Can I stay home?
23:45It's part of life.
23:46I mean, I've been through hell and back,
23:48and people get hit for stupid things for no apparent reason,
23:50and we'll figure out what happens at the end.
23:52You know, I know I haven't done anything bad,
23:55so I know that everything will come good at the end.
23:58Bye.
23:59Thank you all again.
24:32What's for lunch today?
24:34Oh, it's, uh, let me see, dog slop with, uh, no,
24:37it's actually rice and, uh, vegetables, beans, cornbread,
24:41and a cookie freshly baked out there.
24:45Going out of the tea.
24:53I've just been trying to sleep all day
24:55and try and just kill hours, kill time.
24:58The way I've been looking at it, you know, not six days, okay,
25:01you get two trays and a bag, and that's your meals.
25:04So it's seven trays and three bags,
25:06and then we're off to court.
25:08It seems to make it go by a little faster.
25:11What's your take on it?
25:12Um, I've eaten better.
25:16Do you have family outside who might be curious where you are?
25:21Do you have family outside who might be curious where you are?
25:37Yeah, it sucks.
25:40I got kicked out of my sober living, too, they told me.
25:49I smoked a little bit of weed, and so I got violated.
25:51It's, like, that's the biggest deal.
25:54It's for my anxiety.
25:56I wasn't doing it just to do it for the fun of it.
25:58Like, when I did it, I was stressed over something.
26:08We find out on Thursday if I'm getting out.
26:12I want to go home.
26:14I'm tired of this.
26:27We're going to get your fingerprints and pictures.
26:31We'll take your arm.
26:32I was hurt for it, brother.
26:34Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
26:35Someone never got my blank.
26:36Y'all keep buying them, bro.
26:38You're not going to get a blank until you get a jump seat.
26:41Remember, I'm not supposed to be here.
26:46Are you going to give me some more food like I was promised?
26:49I always told you were given a bag already.
26:51Well, I guess I got more.
26:53You're going to get one, and that's it.
26:55Hey, come back on those footprints.
26:57Don't move.
26:57Nothing else is being given to you.
26:59Are you going to cooperate with this process or not?
27:01Just looking at the camera.
27:03All right, look at the camera.
27:04Keep your eyes open.
27:05You're welcome.
27:09I'm not going to my cell very soon.
27:11What is very soon?
27:14That is good.
27:23Turn to your left.
27:28Any last words for us, Kendra?
27:30That's what we use.
27:32Aw.
27:33He likes us.
28:00The day I was driving on my way to work.
28:03I ran into the back of a vehicle.
28:06I looked up.
28:07I see gray and blue.
28:09I realized, yeah, I do have a warrant, so I'm going to jail today.
28:23I was taking somebody home from work the night I got disputed.
28:27Just cruising down the road, listening to music.
28:30They came in with that FTA warrant.
28:3385 under 55, regular driver is undying charge.
28:37Oh, man, it's somewhere to go.
28:38When I had court date, I was in hospital for like a little small heart attack and got out and
28:44had a bunch of doctor appointments and everything, completely forgot all about court.
28:49I was going to plan on turning myself in, but with work and trying to keep up with bills, I
28:55was going to make the right time to do it, but I guess the right time was with this accident.
29:02I have a two-step daughter, and I have a three-year-old in my own, trying to get custody
29:07of her.
29:08A little bit of fear, losing my youngest child over this situation or something.
29:14Could it potentially impact your custody with your youngest?
29:18Just getting in trouble with the law, Mary.
29:20So, I'm just going to pray for the best, man.
29:24I'm just hoping to get this over where we can go home.
29:27Hopefully, I get a bill.
29:38Okay.
29:39If you want to say, I'm going to grab you a drink.
29:41Tyler?
29:44Look, look, grab that, huh?
29:46Wait.
29:51What's up?
29:53Catch down.
29:58You guys can go ahead and stand down to bring him a little bit for a day.
30:01I'm going to get out.
30:02I'm going to go to work, bro.
30:04I'm going to get back to work soon as possible, and I caught this charge.
30:06I don't know how I caught this charge, but kind of weird introduction to contraband.
30:12They found contraband in jail clothes that were given in to me, so weird, right?
30:17It makes no sense.
30:19All right, let's go, guys.
30:39All right.
30:46Let's go, guys.
30:49So, uh, what's going to happen at court?
30:51I have no idea.
30:52Hopefully, a release, and you guys won't have to deal with me anymore.
30:55Is there a good chance you're going to get released for a while?
30:57I don't know.
30:58Is there anything that you can do to prepare?
31:00You pray beforehand, and you hope that you get out.
31:03I don't know.
31:07I don't know.
31:07Yeah, I'm ready whenever.
31:09We're going that way, though.
31:10That's not a good tool.
31:13What happened to your leg?
31:15Oh, God.
31:16So they were messing around in the block.
31:18I want to have fell in the right hand, and it just...
31:28it's all up to the judge he'll be upset to see me but hopefully he's in a good mood

34:49and conditions including successfully completing drug court
