00:00Have you been horribly injured by a product made by the Acme Corporation?
00:03It's not your fault.
00:05There's probably someone to blame.
00:09The first trailer for Coyote vs. Acme,
00:12a film Warner Bros. famously tried to scrap in 2023, is finally here.
00:16The trailer teases the production's difficult journey to the screen with the tagline,
00:20the film Acme didn't want you to see.
00:22You've been settling Acme cases for years.
00:25I could probably get you 250 bucks for that.
00:27This is your opportunity to really show people what you're capable of.
00:31The footage shows Coyote hiring billboard accident lawyer Kevin Avery,
00:35played by Will Forte,
00:36and his legal team to sue the Acme Corporation for its defective products.
00:40John Cena plays Buddy Crane, Acme's slick corporate counsel.
00:44These companies think they can do whatever they want.
00:46We're a stick of it.
00:47Acme, Acme!
00:49Nothing to see here.
00:50Warner Bros. had planned to scrap the completed movie as part of a $115 million write-down.
00:55Social media uproar helped to save the project,
00:58which Ketchup Entertainment acquired for distribution.
01:01The shelving attempt was one of the first headline-making decisions under CEO David Zaslav,
01:06along with another high-profile and completed project, Batgirl.
01:09Zaslav previously told the New York Times about the decision,
01:12The Warner Bros. team and HBO made a number of decisions.
01:16They were hard.
01:17But when I look at the health of our company today,
01:19we needed to make those decisions.
01:20And it took real courage.
01:22Forte told the Hollywood Reporter last year,
01:24I never thought the film would land distribution.
01:26So it just came out of nowhere, and I'm so thrilled.
01:29I'm so excited for people to see this movie.
01:31I'm going to promote the crap out of it.
01:33Coyote vs. Acme hits theaters on August 28th.
