00:00I can't believe I'm saying this, but I just saw Sony's new TrueRGB display up close, and not only does
00:05it make me totally rethink mini-LEDs, but it's even making me question the future of OLED.
00:12With TrueRGB, each LED isn't just one light. It's three diodes, red, green, blue, all individually controlled.
00:18And that's where several other RGB mini-LEDs I've already seen fall short.
00:22High contrast scenes, multi-color scenes, they're RGB's default to white to play it safe and minimize any chance of
00:29color blooming.
00:30Sony's system, I mean, you guys can see it, it's actually mapping the image in real time.
00:34It's crazy that even just the backlight alone shows what's happening on the screen.
00:38That's before getting into the brightness and off-angle viewing, which are both seriously next level.
00:43Look, OLED still has its strengths, but TrueRGB is finally pushing LED backlights to do the stuff that OLED is
00:49famous for,
00:50without the usual limitations like screen sizes.
00:53Sony TrueRGB is not in a TV you can buy yet.
00:56That said, if you're even remotely into TV display tech, I'd really suggest that you stay tuned.
