00:00If you see someone putting ketchup on some car, it doesn't mean you're witnessing them preparing a prank.
00:07It means they're just taking care of their car.
00:10Yup, it goes great with hamburgers and hot dogs, but it goes even better with cars,
00:16since it has ingredients that are good at removing rust.
00:20Rust occurs when the metal gets exposed to moisture, oxygen, and heat,
00:25and due to weather conditions, it's hard to avoid it.
00:28When you leave rust for a longer time and don't deal with it, it will continue to degrade the metal.
00:35So, you need to get rid of it before your car becomes physically useless.
00:41That's when ketchup comes in.
00:43Its key ingredient is tomatoes, and they have many nutrients similar to those you can find in oranges and some
00:51other citrus fruits.
00:52For instance, citric acid can help you remove rust from metal surfaces, since it eats through rust.
00:59We're not talking about the cars only.
01:02You can use it on metallic kitchenwares, furniture parts, jewelry, and rust spots on generally any metallic item.
01:10You can combine it with washing soda.
01:13It's not quite effective against rust, but when you combine it with ketchup, it'll do the work.
01:19Mix these two and apply them to the rusted area.
01:23Leave it like that for about half an hour, and wash it with a wet cloth or sponge.
01:29You can combine ketchup with salt instead, or just apply a lot of it on the rusty area without using
01:37any additional ingredients.
01:39Ketchup removes tarnish from brass copper, too.
01:43Put it on brass hardware on doors and cabinets, or some accessories such as bowls and candlesticks, for 10 minutes
01:50to make it all shine.
01:52And also, you don't put it on meat just because of taste.
01:56Ketchup breaks down its fibers, which means it makes it more tender.
02:02If you've left a pot on the stove and your food burned, once again, take ketchup.
02:07Its acids will ease all the scrubbing and help you with grease.
02:12Just leave it over the night, and you'll be able to wash the pot more easily.
02:17Or, keep those small packages of ketchup we all end up having from fast food orders in the freezer.
02:23The ketchup won't be as hard as an ice cube as it freezes.
02:27So, it will be good for soothing insect bites or similar things.
02:32Okay, enough with ketchup already.
02:34I'm getting hungry.
02:35Your home has more regular things that can do magic tricks.
02:39Like, if you have a house or a big terrace and want to make a nice flower wall, try old
02:45mattress springs.
02:47Just hang them on the wall and let your imagination run wild with flowers.
02:52An old flower sifter can still come in handy.
02:55For example, as a planter.
02:57Even if you don't have one, you might find it at a garage sale or a thrift store.
03:03Wallpaper is making its big comeback when it comes to home design.
03:07Maybe you can try something different and use some old books with torn pages.
03:12You just need to learn the basics of hanging wallpaper.
03:16And voila!
03:16You get a new cool place for your old books.
03:21There's a solution for the remains of an old book.
03:24Don't worry.
03:25You can have blocks where you'll keep your kitchen knives.
03:28It's pretty original, don't you think?
03:31Cleaning blinds can be frustrating.
03:33But the next time you do it, try doing it with a sock over your hand.
03:38Hands are kind of perfectly shaped for getting all those nooks and crannies on the blinds.
03:43And the sock will do the rest.
03:47Here's something you wouldn't expect.
03:49Ice cubes can help you remove gum from carpet, clothing, and hair.
03:54Just put your clothes in the sink and add ice cubes.
03:58Leave it like that for a while.
04:00Ice will freeze the gum, so you can chip it away more easily.
04:04If the gum got stuck on the carpet, leave ice cubes right in the critical spot and remove the gum
04:10with a butter knife.
04:12It's a little bit harder to remove it from hair though, but still possible.
04:16Just wrap the ice and parts of your hair with the gum in a washcloth until the gum gets frozen.
04:23When you get there, you should be able to break apart the gum and free your hair using your fingers.
04:30Or next time you have to deal with a splinter, just take one ice cube to numb that area before
04:36you even start doing anything.
04:40Vacuuming can't suck all that dust out of your cushions, but a tennis racket can.
04:45It's a tool firm enough to beat the dust, but at the same time, it has holes where dust can
04:51go through.
04:53If you have some old CD spindles you don't use anymore, bring one of them back to life, this time
04:59as a bagel tote.
05:01It doesn't take up a lot of space in your backpack, plus you can close it so your bagel doesn't
05:07fall apart.
05:08It doesn't look like that at first, but there's a lot you can do with a tennis ball too.
05:14For example, use it as a bottle opener for twist-off bottle caps or maybe sticky jar lids.
05:21Cut along the seam of a ball so you'll have a tool coated with rubber on the inside.
05:27It gives a great grip.
05:29And it doesn't stop here for tennis balls.
05:32You can cap your chair legs to protect your floor.
05:34You can leave some in a pool if you have one too.
05:38Pools quickly become very dirty if you're using them frequently.
05:42And tennis balls can absorb some of the oil coming from the people and the rest of the goop that
05:47floats on the surface.
05:49Another frustrating task is removing floor scuff marks.
05:53Yup, a tennis ball once again.
05:55Just place it on a stick.
05:57It works like an eraser.
05:59It can also be a great tool for massage.
06:02You can try with your back.
06:03Lie down on the ball on the floor and place the tennis ball on the spots where you feel the
06:08most pressure.
06:09Or maybe put it against the wall and massage stiff parts.
06:14Or something I need, a tennis ball as a holder where I can keep my reminders.
06:20Just cut a slit into its side and place your message inside.
06:23It can be a cool gift too.
06:25Or add a small metal or wooden piece so you have a key holder too.
06:30Bread tabs can be great for labeling cords and never getting lost down there with your power strip.
06:36Plastic bread tabs are sturdy and there's enough room on them to write what the cable is for and easily
06:43clip it around the end of a cord.
06:45Plus they come in different colors so you'll easily recognize them and know which electrical device you can turn off.
06:53You don't have to immediately throw away an empty milk jug.
06:57Just take sharp scissors and cut off its top.
07:00Then clean up the cut so you're sure there are no sharp edges.
07:03Now you have a new scoop for potting soil, food for your dog, or whatever you need it for.
07:10A bobby pin is a great nail holder.
07:13You can easily get distracted and hammer a finger when working with tiny nails.
07:17So it would be better to go with a common bobby pin to keep your fingers at a safe distance.
07:23If you don't have enough space for your cookbook while preparing a meal,
07:28take a pants hanger and attach your recipes there.
07:32Also, if you have a broken pants hanger, you don't need to throw it away.
07:36Or at least, not all the pieces.
07:39You can remove clips and use them for pasta or some other open packs in your kitchen.
07:45Don't throw away an empty ketchup bottle.
07:48You can use it for a pancake mix so it doesn't get too messy when you're preparing this delicious breakfast.
07:55It can get tricky to carry your stuff at the beach,
07:58so take an old lotion bottle and clean it out so you can put your money, phone, and keys inside.
08:04Less chance someone will take any of this stuff even if they manage to take a peek inside your bag.
08:12We know how much homeowners love to make their houses picture perfect.
08:17It can soon become a struggle, though, once you've tried to flatten out those pesky corners of a new rug.
08:22But there is one genius trick that can help.
08:25Just plop a few ice cubes and a heavy object on the corner, and voila!
08:29Flat rug.
08:30No more tripping over the rolled-up edges.
08:34Sitting in your car, frozen and grumpy, watching your window slowly defrost is about as fun as watching paint dry.
08:42And let's not forget the disaster that is wiping the mist off the inside.
08:46But hey, if you don't want to risk getting slapped with a fine, you better give this funky demisting trick
08:51a try.
08:52People have tried it all, but apparently, it was the cat litter that won the condensation game.
08:58Just grab an old sock or pair of tights.
09:01Fill them up with cat litter.
09:02Tie it up and plop it under your car's windows.
09:05It's so effective that it should do the trick in just 10 minutes.
09:09The cat litter works by absorbing the moisture in the air.
09:13Cleaning our stoves ain't fun either, let's be honest.
09:16But fear not, because one cleaning guru on TikTok has come to the rescue with a genius trick that'll make
09:23cleaning your stove a breeze.
09:25All you need is some oven spray, cling film, and a lot of patience.
09:29Start by spraying some cleaning product on the stove.
09:33Then cover the whole thing in cling film.
09:36Here's where your patience will be needed.
09:38You'll have to wait a whole day for the cleaning product to work its magic.
09:42But trust me, once you remove that cling film, the stains will have melted off.
09:46That leftover mess on your stove can be scrubbed off easily now.
09:51Finish the job using a regular cloth for the rest of the grind.
09:55It's time you forget about fancy schmancy car trash cans.
09:59Why waste your money on those when you can repurpose a plastic cereal container?
10:04It's small enough to fit in your car, and the flip-top opening means your trash won't go flying all
10:09over the place when you take sharp turns.
10:12Plus, just line it with a plastic grocery bag, and you're ready to go.
10:17Feel like your feet need a bit of pampering?
10:20You can skip the expensive spa day at your local salon.
10:23All you need is a sanitary pad, some toothpaste, and baking soda.
10:28Mix the toothpaste with the baking soda powder and spread it evenly on the pad.
10:33Place it on the soles of your feet and slip a sock on so it's nice and snuggly.
10:38The pad should keep the mixture and moisture in so you don't make a mess all over your house.
10:44After an hour or two, rinse off the toothpaste mixture with plenty of water.
10:49You'll notice how soft the soles of your feet have become.
10:52For that extra step, add some moisturizer too.
10:56Those trusty sanitary pads can be used for all sorts of stuff around your house too, like for freshening up
11:03your drawers.
11:04Just spritz some perfume on a pad, place it next to your clothes of choice, and voila!
11:10Your gym clothes, for example, will smell like a fragrant bouquet.
11:14And don't forget to throw one in your gym bag too.
11:18Oh boy, time to give those lampshades the love they deserve.
11:21Grab a trusty lint roller and watch in amazement as you unveil a whole new world of colors underneath that
11:27forever dust.
11:29Who knew your lampshades were secretly chameleon?
11:33Say goodbye to dog hair and hello to your new household best friend, the rubber squeegee brush.
11:39This bad boy can snatch up so much fur from your carpet that you'll be wondering if you even own
11:45a pet.
11:46Just stroke it short and quick over your rug and watch it unleash a furry storm.
11:51And if you're wondering about your hardwood floors, fear not.
11:54The rubber bristles work like magic to create one giant fur ball.
12:00Save yourself from cleaning cabinets and furniture tops by hooking them up with fashionable hats.
12:06They're made out of wax paper or paper bags.
12:09The dirt and grease will stick to your new accessories and when it's time for a new look, just swap
12:14them out every few months.
12:17You know that feeling when you finally peel off a bumper sticker or parking permit, but then you're left with
12:22a sticky mess?
12:23There's a simple solution though.
12:26Slap a wet piece of newspaper on top of that gunk and let it marinate for 15 minutes.
12:31Then poof!
12:32The glue will be as soft as a fluffy cloud and you can wipe it away with ease.
12:38If your dishwasher is stinking up your kitchen, it's time to get your detective hat on.
12:42Check that filter for any leftovers lurking in there.
12:45Then add a splash of vinegar to your next hot wash cycle.
12:49Those pesky food particles could be the culprits behind your dishwasher's funky fragrance.
12:55Get ready to be a Vaseline wizard.
12:58Say goodbye to pesky polish smudges with a simple solution.
13:02Slather some Vaseline around your nails before you go to town with a brush.
13:07Once you're done, wipe away the excess without the need for any nail polish remover.
13:12And if you're feeling fancy, make that perfume last even longer by adding a touch of Vaseline to your neck
13:18and wrists.
13:19It's like a scent superhero, keeping those fragrance molecules from flying away too soon.
13:26Have you checked out your shower curtain lately?
13:28It might be looking pretty grimy and gross.
13:31Toss that bad boy in the washing machine with a couple of towels and voila!
13:35No more soap scum stains!
13:38The towels will help with scrubbing away all that mess while they're tumbling in the washing machine.
13:43Say goodbye to single socks with a strip of foam pipe insulation.
13:48Measure and cut each piece.
13:50Then place it in that sneaky gap between your washer and dryer or wall.
13:55Those pesky socks will never go missing again.
14:00Got a wobbly table that's cramping your style?
14:03Your trusty bottle cork is here to save the day.
14:07Slice off a piece of that bad boy, glue it to the wobbly leg, and voila!
14:13You've got yourself a sturdy surface to rest your drink on.
14:18A hammer is more than just a smashing tool.
14:23The back of this tool can actually hold a nail for you.
14:27No more risking your fingers or giving yourself a thumbectomy.
14:32Just slide it into the claw, and bam!
14:35You're ready to nail it!
14:38Want to know the saucy way to pick up a sizzling lid?
14:42Ditch those boring oven mitts and grab yourself a pair of tongs.
14:47But wait, don't just go in head first.
14:50Use the middle.
14:52Trust me, it's hot and it's effective.
14:56Care to find out how to keep your dressing gown from slipping and sliding all over the place?
15:02Got you covered!
15:04Instead of going through all the loops, just place the cord through the front ones.
15:10You don't even need it to be wrapped around you.
15:13All the business will be in the front.
15:17Tie that cord up nice and tight, and you'll be strutting around in no time.
15:23Bet you didn't know the right way to light a multi-wit candle.
15:28You'll never hurt the tips of your fingers again.
15:31And truth is, you don't light them one by one.
15:35Just light the first one.
15:38Then angle the candle in the right position, so it lights up the other ones too.
15:45So, apparently, we've all been using deodorant wrong.
15:49Who knew?
15:51You're supposed to lather that stuff on before going to bed.
15:55That's because our underarms are supposed to soak it in overnight for maximum effectiveness.
16:04I'm here to save you from the USB struggle bus.
16:07You know that symbol on the cord?
16:10Yeah, it's not just there for decoration.
16:13Align the seam with the opposite edge of the tongue, and voila!
16:17You're in business.
16:19No more flipping it upside down and sideways like a crazy person.
16:23Thank me later.
16:24Hey, buddy!
16:25Looks like you had some fun in the great outdoors.
16:29As adorable as those paw prints look, your mama still needs to clean them.
16:36Spreading soda over the carpet and then vacuuming it works like magic for such cases.
16:43Artistic people can be messy sometimes.
16:45No judgment here.
16:47I know it's all part of the creative process.
16:50But this hack will actually help save time from cleaning only to paint more.
16:56I think that's more than enough laundry detergent.
17:00Yep, she agrees with me.
17:02There's a way to make sure he uses the right amount next time.
17:07Just put the ice tray in the freezer and you'll have yourself jelly detergent cubes.
17:14Hey, this will save you money too, you know.
17:18Cleaning your brushes is such a bore.
17:20It's definitely something that tests one's patience.
17:25This shaving foam hack will save you a lot of time.
17:28I feel like that amount of hair will clog the sink, though.
17:32Remember what parents always say.
17:34Wash your hands before eating something.
17:39But looks like that's not an easy task with those melted soap bars.
17:44A couple of rubber bands will help you save your soap.
17:50It won't be touching water all the time and therefore, it'll last longer.
17:56Oh man, I hate it when bottles get all dirty inside.
18:01If you're not Mr. Fantastic with the ability to stretch your body into any shape,
18:06then this looks like an impossible task.
18:11Hey, wait.
18:12Maybe I was looking at it the wrong way.
18:14Magneto's powers will work perfectly fine here.
18:18I feel like you'll need a stronger magnet, however.
18:21Wow, this bottle looks brand new now.
18:24Don't you just hate that cooking and cleaning takes forever,
18:28but eating the dish you made takes like 15 minutes?
18:34Guess that guy leaves all the hard work to the lady.
18:38Don't worry, miss.
18:39There's a way you can avoid this disaster.
18:42Just cover the surfaces with stretch film, and that's it.
18:47Now you don't need to get anxious about all the cleaning you'll have to do later.
18:53Hope this won't cause you to be late for your work.
18:56Because how are you going to explain this to your boss?
19:01You can't just say,
19:02I had to wait for the stinky odor to go away.
19:07It's always a real struggle to get the corners, am I right?
19:13But it's nothing a couple of straws can't fix.
19:17No dust left behind is the motto.
19:19You can firmly clean all the nooks and crannies
19:22that the regular vacuum head can't get to.
19:27If you're a jar collector like I am,
19:30then you already got everything you'll need for this hack.
19:35This is what being smart looks like, everyone.
19:38By the way,
19:39looks like you've been postponing doing the dishes for a while now, huh?
19:45Don't worry, no judgments.
19:47We've all been there.
19:49Those toothbrushes were basically swimming in there.
19:53But the glass filling up with water is inevitable, really.
19:58However,
19:59Orbeez balls can make the process a lot slower.
20:02Somebody needs to replace the paper towel.
20:06But don't head to the store just yet.
20:09I suggest you ditch paper towels altogether and go for this reusable option.
20:15You'll be saving a lot of bucks.
20:18Thank me later.
20:20Whoa, have you been collecting dirty makeup sponges or what?
20:25Don't use them until they're all clean.
20:27Otherwise, I'm pretty sure they'll give you pimples.
20:31Looks like this is gonna take a while.
20:34But the satisfaction you'll get once you see them all clean will be worth it.
20:40These kind of look like Easter eggs to me.
20:43By the way, do you really need that many sponges to do your makeup?
20:50It's all fun and games until someone spills all the glitter on the floor.
20:55Worry not, we got you.
20:57Hey, good to see you recycling.
21:00No, you don't need a bigger bin, trust me.
21:02All you need is to know this one hack.
21:05And let's get this one thing straight.
21:07I know this is science, but it sure feels like magic.
21:13Honey, I shrunk the trash.
21:15Look at the difference here.
21:17It's a relief to see you don't have a pile of dirty dishes like the lady before.
21:22But how are you going to explain that sink?
21:25Seems like you've been ignoring it for quite some time now.
21:30That's why you need something strong to scrub there.
21:35But I have a better solution.
21:38One that won't tire you.
21:40Just apply a coat of dish soap and soda mixture all around the sink and wait.
21:46I wouldn't believe how it works wonders if I didn't see it with my own eyes.
21:52You're going to hurt your back and knees cleaning like this.
21:57You know, robot vacuum cleaners don't need coffee breaks, right?
22:02So put that thing to work.
22:05In the meantime, you can just relax and maybe even start reading the book you bought six months ago.
22:12No matter how many times you clean the stove, it always gets dirty at the end of the day, right?
22:20Well, not anymore.
22:22Hey, I think I'm going to give this a try using glitter glue.
22:25It'll help make things more fun.
22:28You should have bought a trash bin with a lid.
22:31To avoid the awful stench, you know.
22:35Although this hack won't make the trash smell good or anything, it will at least help keep your bin fresh
22:39and nice.
22:43I know this is not a food hacks video, but that doesn't stop me from wanting some snacks now.
22:50Even if you're too old to play with slimes, it might be a good idea to keep one at home
22:54for stuff like this.
23:03If I were you, I would still disinfect that with antibacterial wipes or something, just in case.
23:10Hey, it's her turn to pick the movie now.
23:14Uh-oh, someone's forgotten to add laundry powder to the shopping list.
23:19That's okay, you can still make your own with everyday things, such as baking soda and a soap bar.
23:26This lady is one of the lucky ones because she has a dishwasher.
23:31Placing a piece of lemon, even one that's been juiced, will help freshen the load and leave your dishes looking
23:36shinier.
23:39This is why I never wear white socks if I'm going to visit someone else's house.
23:45Because I don't really want to see how dirty their floors might be, you know?
23:52Using bleach for situations like this may help, but it might also ruin your garments.
23:59That's why this hack is the better option to make white clothes look great again.
24:04You might want to clean the microwave after you're done, though.
24:09This phone case looks like it's been through some tough stuff.
24:14Let's give it the second chance it deserves.
24:17All you need to do is apply WD-40 spray, pour some soda, and rinse it out.
24:23By the way, if you have sensitive skin, you might want to wear protective gloves to avoid irritation.
24:30Better safe than sorry.
24:33Cleaning stubborn stains on a glass stovetop can be tricky.
24:37There's always the risk of causing scratches on the surface.
24:43That's why any type of scrubbing or scraping action is not advised.
24:48Did you know that according to one poll, an average person spends more than six days a year washing dishes?
24:56Then there's all the other cleaning stuff that needs to be done.
25:00But knowing the right hacks will save you a lot of time and make your life so much easier.
25:08Wow, your shoes are definitely cleaner than this house.
25:11Who knew shoelaces would work like a charm when it comes to getting rid of all the dust and rust?
25:19Is it time to go to bed yet, or are you tired of all the work you've done around the
25:23house?
25:25I was being sarcastic.
25:27Your partner did all the work.
25:30So saving her toothbrush is the least you can do.
25:33Even when you listen to the instructions and create a strong password for any of your online accounts,
25:39you're still not entirely safe from hackers.
25:42They always come up with new ways to crack what you think might finally be a good and secure password.
25:49For example, there's a password manager tool that has taken a look at more than 60 million passwords from data
25:56breaches.
25:59It turns out the majority of people choose passwords that aren't that unique.
26:04I love you, Ferrari, and Password1234 are some of the most popular ones, together with Star Wars.
26:13For hackers, these are really not difficult to guess.
26:16Plus, they have special tools that help them with cracking passwords.
26:22For example, one takes a list of dictionary words and then uses them to find out passwords.
26:29With this tool, you can try millions of words in a pretty short time.
26:33It's able to do some sneaky things, too, such as replacing an E with 3, or an A with an
26:41at sign.
26:44This tool also noticed that there were a lot of people who believed they were unique and creative with their
26:49passwords
26:50because they used a tactic we call password walking.
26:54It's when your fingers walk across the keyboard, and you create a password using keys that are next to each
27:01other.
27:01For example, QWERTY or ASDFG.
27:06It may seem meaningless enough to be safe, but you're not the only one who's thought of it.
27:11And hackers know it.
27:13They can upload basically any number of different variations into some of their tools to test them out.
27:19So it's just a matter of time before they find out what your password is.
27:29Here's a big no-no.
27:31Using the same password for multiple websites.
27:34Hackers love when you do that, because once they figure out one password,
27:38they can use it to access all your other accounts, too.
27:42Let's say your base password is Porsche.
27:45Then you add a few numbers and symbols to the end to create a unique password for each site you
27:51use,
27:51like Porsche 3% 5% for Facebook,
27:56or Porsche 5$7 carat for Twitter.
28:03Most of us use the same principle at some point.
28:06The thing is that hackers are not going for your bank account or WorkVPN first,
28:12even though one of the main goals is to get there.
28:15They'll use their special tools to try out lots and lots of different usernames and passwords
28:21on websites that might not have the best security,
28:24such as an online forum you often visit,
28:27or maybe an e-commerce site where you've had some shopping lately.
28:32All they have to do is try different variations of your base password,
28:37like Porsche1 or Porsche123,
28:40and sooner or later, they'll crack the code and gain access to all your accounts.
28:46And if they get lucky and guess your login info for one of those sites,
28:51they can then use that info to try and access more important sites.
28:57And we're not talking about some genius hackers here.
29:01They use simple tricks, like checking your social media profiles.
29:05If you've ever mentioned your dog's name or your kid's birthdate on Facebook, for example,
29:11a hacker could use that info to guess your passwords.
29:14So, chappy123 is out.
29:19So, what's the solution here?
29:21First, stop trying to come up with some unique passwords based on things in your life.
29:27Instead, use a password manager to generate strong, random passwords for all your accounts.
29:33And make sure those passwords are long and include a variety of characters,
29:38not just lowercase letters.
29:41Plus, it's much safer to create unique, random passwords for each site you use.
29:47That way, even if a hacker does manage to crack one of your passwords,
29:52they won't be able to access all your other accounts as well.
29:55And you won't have to remember all those crazy passwords yourself.
29:59The password manager will do it for you.
30:05Also, it's better to have a long password.
30:08The tools hackers use crack shorter passwords with lowercase letters way faster.
30:13If you add only one asterisk and one capital letter,
30:17it will change the processing time for, let's say,
30:21a password with eight characters from 2.4 days to 2.1 centuries.
30:28Here's another scam they use to get your password.
30:32Let's say you're playing a game of capture the flag,
30:36and the other team manages to break into your fort and steal your flag.
30:40They now know exactly where your fort is and how to get in.
30:45That's basically what hackers do in data breaches.
30:49They break into a company's fort, their database,
30:53and steal all the sensitive information they can find,
30:56like your passwords, credit card details, and even your social security number.
31:03Then, they sell this information to other bad guys on the dark net,
31:07who can use it to pretend to be you and steal your money or even your identity.
31:13Stay up to date on news of data breaches
31:15and change your passwords immediately if one of your accounts was affected.
31:20And if you receive an email about a data breach, don't respond to it.
31:24Instead, visit the company's website
31:27or call their official customer support number to verify the situation.
31:33Phishing is when these thieves send you fake emails
31:36that look like they're from important people or companies,
31:40like the president or your bank.
31:43They might even ask you to click on a link that takes you to a fake website
31:47that looks real, but it's actually a trap.
31:51If you fall for their tricks and give them your password or personal information,
31:56they can use it to sneak into your computer and steal more stuff.
32:00Yikes!
32:01Don't reply to strange messages or click on weird links.
32:05If you're not sure if an email is real or fake,
32:08do some detective work and contact the sender directly through their official website.
32:13And remember, never, ever give away your personal information to anyone,
32:18even if they claim to be your long-lost cousin or a famous celebrity.
32:24Have you ever gotten an email that says something like,
32:28reset your password now, but you don't remember asking for it?
32:33Yep, hackers once again.
32:36They send you fake emails that look like they're from a website you use,
32:40like Facebook or Amazon.
32:42They'll say something like,
32:44your account has been hacked, reset your password now to be safe.
32:50But if you click on the link they provide,
32:52it'll take you to a fake website that looks real,
32:56and hackers will be able to see any information you put in there.
32:59So, if something in your email seems weird,
33:03it's probably a scam.
33:05Check for signs of fraud,
33:06like spelling mistakes or strange designs,
33:09and always make sure to check the sender's email address
33:12to see if it matches the website they're claiming to be from.
33:18If hackers manage to get your passwords,
33:20they can cause serious issues to your reputation,
33:23finances, and other things related to your online identity.
33:27That means access to your social media accounts,
33:30email, personal identifiable information, and more.
33:36Let's play detective and spot the signs of a hacked password.
33:40First, if your password suddenly stops working,
33:44it might mean a hacker has changed it.
33:46So, if you're locked out of your account for no reason,
33:49it's time to investigate.
33:53Next, if your computer starts acting slow and sluggish,
33:57it could be a sign that it's been infected
34:00with password-stealing malware.
34:02Another thing to watch out for
34:04is finding your personal information on the dark web.
34:07That's like the sketchy black market of the internet
34:10where hackers sell stolen data.
34:13If you see your info for sale there,
34:15it's time to take action.
34:19Have you ever heard of ransomware?
34:21It's a type of malware
34:22that locks you out of your own computer
34:25and demands money if you want to regain control.
34:28Yikes!
34:29In Costa Rica,
34:30hackers even attacked local authorities
34:32with this nasty stuff.
34:36Last but not least,
34:38if your friends or family
34:39start receiving strange messages from you online,
34:42it's a red flag that someone else
34:44might be using your accounts.
34:46So, if your BFF gets a message from you
34:49about buying a Nigerian prince's yacht,
34:52it's probably time to change your passwords.
34:55ASAP.
