00:11The government said the farms belonged to foreign nationals from Denmark, Switzerland, Germany and Netherlands and were protected under bilateral
00:18investment agreements.
00:20The move is part of a wider effort by Harare to rebuild relationships with Western countries and international lenders after
00:27years of isolation.
00:28The land Caesar, which began in the early 2000s, were presented as an attempt to address colonial era land inequalities,
00:36but they also triggered a collapse in commercial agriculture, full shortages, soaring inflation and a deep economic crisis.
00:44President Emerson Nanganga, who took power in 2017 after Mugabe's fall, has been trying to restore ties with international partners.
