00:00So I think what I heard on the doorstep time and time again is how let down people were feeling,
00:04whether that's with the national government around issues to do with austerity or the cuts to disability support
00:09or immigration changes, and then also people feeling frustrated about local things that aren't working for them.
00:15And we really want to get the basics right, so sorting out housing repairs,
00:18looking at how we get people's food cheaper through co-ops, looking at school exclusions,
00:23like there's a number of things that we really want to look at that we've been building with residents.
00:27I worked with a load of organisations on our manifesto, and every organisation I spoke to at the end of
00:32the meeting
00:32would be like, we could do so much more if we had space.
00:35So we want to kick off our Who Owns Hackney review and get those spaces into use,
00:40you know, buildings and community spaces that are empty, so these community groups can do more.
00:44So there's just lots of really exciting stuff that we're going to get going with.
00:47Yeah, I think that's really important because lots of people ask me if I'm going to be wearing the big
00:50chains,
00:51but in Hackney that's the speaker who goes around and cuts the ribbons and talks to community groups
00:54and is at all of those events. So this is the kind of executive lead of the council,
00:58which is incredibly exciting. Like, we do lead councils in other parts of the country,
01:02but I am really excited to show what we can do here as a Green Council in Hackney
01:06and what that means for London and for the country.
01:08So I think it's really exciting. You know, we've got this manifesto that we've developed
01:12with organisations that we really want to deliver,
01:14and I think it is people showing they really want that alternative,
01:18like people feeling let down with the, you know, the old establishment parties
01:21and looking for that alternative. And, you know, we've had a growing story here in Hackney as the Greens,
01:26and I just, I'm so excited that people have got behind that.
01:28Yeah, that growing alternative, that story,
01:32how confident are you that this is going to be a continuing story for the Green Party
01:37and how much do you think this win is going to build that momentum?
01:40It absolutely will. You know, every time we've had Greens elected in Hackney,
01:44people have seen what we can deliver, and this is just a part of that growing and continuing story.
01:49I'm really committed to listening to residents to make sure we get it right,
01:53working with the staff across the council to do things in an innovative way
01:56and using our plowers in a different way, and I think people will really see
01:59what our values are in action. So I think it will be part of this growing story for us.
