00:00La chingona is a badass. I was like, I have arrived.
00:05Hello Marie Claire, it's Eva Longoria, and welcome to my cover shoot.
00:10You know what I've discovered as I've been shooting Searching for Spain is how happy the people are in Spain.
00:18It's not about attaining things and working harder and climbing the ladder.
00:22It's like being with your family and being with your friends and going down to the bar at 6 o
00:31'clock and having a vermouth with your dad.
00:34So I found that really profound. It was like, oh, okay. The food is this way because the people are
00:40this way.
00:42I can't pick a favorite recipe from this cookbook.
00:47You know, it's a journey that I went on through Mexico and I met so many amazing people.
00:52I have a lot of great soups, like hearty, filling, healthy soups.
00:58So I really love my soup chapter, but I also love my drink chapter.
01:03I mean, who doesn't love a good cocktail? I love a cocktail with tequila.
01:08I'm excited about 50. I've always been excited about 50. I'm like wiser. I'm better.
01:14I'm not scared of aging. I just want to age well.
01:17I want to be able to climb up stairs. I want to be able to get up and down. I
01:20want to play with my kid.
01:21And so for me, I'm all about biohacks that will make me last longer.
01:27You know, I think Jane Fonda is probably the greatest role model as far as really embracing the third act
01:33of her life.
01:34I haven't gotten advice from people. There's a lot of women I look up to who are doing it well.
01:38I probably would have just told my 20-year-old self, like, buckle your seatbelt.
01:43It's going to be a fun ride.
01:47I have a full head of gray, and every time I touch up my hair color, whether it's touching up
01:53my grays or highlighting my bangs or darkening the whole thing,
01:58I feel like a new woman every time I color my hair.
02:01I don't know, there's something about changing your hair color that changes everything about you.
02:06Or putting on a red lip.
02:08Or, like, a fresh blowout.
02:10Do you ever get, like, a good blowout?
02:11And you're like, I'm taking over the world.
02:19I love the phrase in Spanish, estoy en mi salsa.
02:22Like, if I'm really, really happy, or, like, I enjoy something, they say, ah, estás en tu salsa.
02:29You're vibing.
02:32Spanish women in particular are just put together.
02:35They're not as high maintenance as, I think, the French fashion.
02:40It's a little more effortless here, but still put together.
02:44Because there's a lot of walking, fashion has a big part in, you know, your daily expression.
02:49Somebody once told me, you know, in the United States, we wear cars, because we drive everywhere.
02:54And in Europe, they wear clothes.
02:58Oh, la chingona.
03:00La chingona is a badass.
03:02That's what la chingona means.
03:04It's just a badass, you know, you're a chingona.
03:06It used to be a derogatory term, and we've kind of reclaimed it.
03:10So that's when I joined TikTok.
03:11I was like, I have arrived.
03:15I watch it all the time on TikTok or Instagram, because the clips are constant memes.
03:21There's constant fashion references, and it's still in the zeitgeist.
03:26I have so many favorite lines.
03:29So many I probably can't say now, because I'd probably get canceled.
03:39Oh my god, you're serious?
03:40She would say and do things people wish they could say.
03:44Some of my best friends I met, because they were fans of the show, Serena Williams and
03:47I have known each other for 20 years, since Desperate Housewives premiered, because she
03:52was a big fan of the show.
03:53And she was like, oh my god, I'm a fan.
03:54I was like, I'm a fan.
03:55Oh my god, I'd do a reboot, reunion, redo, reorder.
03:59I would do it all.
04:00I would be the first one to sign up.
04:02I miss being in the skin of Gabby Solis.
04:04I miss her a lot.
04:06Bucket list career?
04:07Oh my god, so much.
04:09I feel like I haven't even tapped into my potential.
04:12My main goal right now is to lift up all these other creators, all these other stars in my
04:19community, whether they're women, whether they're Latinos.
04:21I just want to see them have their moment, see them shine.
04:24That's where I get really excited and motivated.
04:26I think the greatest myth in philanthropy is that you have to be rich and famous to make
04:31a difference.
04:32That's not true.
04:33Anybody can make a difference in somebody's life.
04:35Anybody can really look in your immediate circle, in your immediate community, and see
04:42a problem, see somebody in need.
04:45You can donate your time.
04:46You don't have to donate money.
04:47You can donate your energy.
04:48There's so much to do, and there's so much that can be done by one person.
04:57That's a wrap.
