00:00How much rain would it actually take to fix this drought? In the hardest-hit areas from South Carolina through
00:04southern Georgia and into Florida, we're talking about exceptional drought, the worst level, leading to wildfires, strain on crops, and
00:10water supply.
00:11And the numbers are staggering. NOAA data shows southern Georgia would need about 14 inches of rain in just one
00:16month to end it. South Carolina needs around a foot, and Florida, anywhere from 13 to 18 inches.
00:21Now, here's the reality check. So far this month, Savannah, Georgia has picked up about 1.64 inches of rain.
00:27Panama City, about 1.5, and Jacksonville, less than half an inch. It's not even close.
00:31So, yeah, we're tracking rain and even a flash flood risk this weekend, but most spots will only see 1
00:36to 2 inches. So, while rain is coming, ending this drought is a much bigger challenge.
