00:09hello and welcome you're watching the business today show this is where i get you all the market
00:13closing action viewers we are looking at how the markets have turned volatile we are still holding
00:18the 24 300 odd mark albeit with some losses now and you've seen a very choppy session throughout
00:24the course of the session today although there are several sectors that are really contributing
00:28to the gains you have the auto index that's up by nearly two percent it's the broader markets that's
00:33stealing the show the mid cap hundred index is setting the record high levels it's a lot of those
00:38broader market stocks that are rising in trade we've seen several stocks hit 52 week highs and
00:45many stocks also hitting record high levels in the session today and the real estate sector private
00:51banks metals also show us some gains but it's the it pack the psu banks and the oil and gas
00:56space
00:56that still reels under some pressure let's actually welcome our guests on board we have
01:02sharmila joshi market expert joining in to share with us a fresh take on the markets welcome to
01:08you sharmila good to have you with us well first up your take on the markets well again we are
01:13turning
01:14very volatile it's the same zone sharmila that above 24 350 where we always see selling pressure that's
01:20again seeming to be really playing up into the sentiments this is despite the fact that the mid cap
01:26index has hit a record high level so several pockets within other or below the surface they're
01:32performing but it's just the index that faces the pressure right now yes and you know in a sense
01:38if you had asked me that what would the recovery come in first given the fact that everything had
01:43corrected so much i would have bet that you know the recovery would come first in the slightly larger
01:49cap names there we are seeing recovery but it is more based on the fact if you are seeing good
01:54numbers for instance m&m gave very good numbers we are seeing the pullback over there uh but by and
01:59large as a basket it's really the mid catch and uh even among the mid catch it's like the slightly
02:05lesser known names uh which have actually outperformed which also sort of gives you a sense of you know
02:11the kind of quality of buyers that uh there are in the market because the fi is at uh you
02:16know as of
02:17now still uh avoiding the indian market they're still sort of uh net sellers uh so it is uh really
02:23speaking uh a lot of the retail money that is pushing markets higher and retail money does seem
02:29to follow trends more and some of the smaller stocks more more the high beta names more uh so
02:35that's where you're seeing uh the buying coming and i think that's the way it's likely to stay for a
02:39bit till you see a change and if you see some kind of certainty uh and an end uh you
02:45know we are seeing
02:45a sort of a seesaw to uh uh the talks uh you it's like an on-off sort of situation
02:52so if you while
02:53everybody senses it's coming to an end uh you would wait to see that and more importantly you would
02:58wait to see how if i is really decide to move uh so for now it seems as you said
03:03very clear that uh
03:04when nifty goes to below 24 000 levels that way you when you see sort of value buying coming in
03:10but anything above that then people are sort of still treading water and waiting to see
03:16which way things swing absolutely viewers we'll shift focus to a breaking news that's coming in
03:21on your screens now this is with respect to the aviation sector the dgca has reviewed the power
03:27bank flight norms and sources have told business today television that indigo fire incident has
03:32triggered the dgca review the dgca is studying the global power bank rules at this point in time
03:38and there's been no ban as of yet on power banks is what the dgca has said the lithium battery
03:44risks
03:44are under dgca lens karishma sudhani is joining in with more details on the same uh karishma give us
03:51an understanding of what is the dgca really looking to contemplate so far there's not been any ban on the
03:57power bank uh but these increasing fire incidents what could they lead to
04:02um sakshi we rely a lot on global rules and if you see what icaao had also put out dgca
04:11early this
04:12year january 2026 had made certain amendments and recommendations and they had in fact prohibited
04:20charging of mobile phones via a portable charger that is a power bank inside an airplane a lot of
04:28passengers still do not follow that which is of course a concern dgca shares and multiple public
04:34awareness announcements have been done in order to ensure that people understand the importance of it
04:39because of various such incidents that are happening on board now it is not recommended to use power
04:48banks and put them in cabin luggage but rather just have them with you because of the sensitivity of
04:55lithium ion batteries but we are picking up that after many such incidents uh government is trying
05:01to understand uh on uh if there is going to be a full uh prohibition of use of power banks
05:08inside an
05:08airplane which could get a bigger uh impact on a lot of consumers who are flying out airlines certain
05:16airlines in south korea and japan already have prohibited because of multiple incidents which
05:21have not only just caused delay but also operational issues uh with the flight schedules absolutely
05:27thanks karishma for getting us those details so we will have to keep in watch uh keep an eye out
05:31on
05:31this space uh as to how things progress as the dgca continues to uh monitor what's happening as far
05:37as these fire incidences with your power banks are concerned very clearly viewers and consumers you
05:42have to know that currently um charging your devices with portable power banks within uh the flights
05:49while you're traveling is prohibited it's not allowed so please ensure in case you're carrying
05:54it you only use it once you step out from the flight uh let's uh move forward there's another
05:59important news that we have to highlight for all of you viewers and this is with respect to the
06:03inheritance battle within the sonar comstar um group family which has now reached a mediation table
06:10with the supreme court now urging both the sides not to make the dispute a source of entertainment
06:15for people in a significant development sanjay kapoor's wife priya kapoor and mother rani kapoor
06:20have agreed to explore an agreement or a settlement with the former chief justice diva chandra chur now
06:26set to mediate the high profile inheritance trial but what lies at the heart of the dispute over the
06:31family trust and what could this mean uh for the future of sonar group estate um anisha mathur is now
06:37joining in uh for more details on the same anisha take it away um all right we'll in fact uh
06:42look at
06:43getting anisha but uh at this point in time what is very clear is that this 30 000 crore rupees
06:49um
06:49uh you know dispute that we are looking at as the estate of sonar koyo will see a lot of
06:54developments going forward finally there could be some agreement between both the parties is what the
06:59uh supreme court has clearly highlighted at this point in time um let's actually look at the stock
07:04prices we'll go to sharmila and try and understand um sharmila of course we've been tracking this story
07:10right from the time of uh uh the fatal uh you know incident of uh late sanjay kapoor but uh
07:17you
07:18know when we talk about the stock prices do they set to get impacted with such legal tussles that
07:24take place within the group uh what have you been observing and what is the advice that you would
07:30have for investors of sonar blw well honestly uh if you don't have the stock don't buy it right now
07:36because you know the fact remains that until you see uh as you've been highlighting that uh both
07:42parties come and have some sort of mediation talk it really doesn't uh it it does cast a shadow uh
07:49over
07:49the uh stock price and we have seen it uh getting sort of range bound ever since the incident happened
07:54so i think once you get a clarity that yes uh the talks are on and they're moving forward in
08:01a sort
08:01of a direction to come to a some kind of a result that could possibly be the time to look
08:06at the
08:06stock so there is nothing wrong with the company or the numbers or anything the valuations also at
08:12this point in time uh but this kind of a corporate uh sort of battle does cast a shadow on
08:19the stock price
08:19and you know given that we have a whole uh bouquet of stocks that you could choose from i don't
08:25really
08:25see any reason to buy into sonar all right let's also talk about the large auto action that we are
08:32seeing we saw bajaj auto came out with the numbers and strong numbers at that a buyback getting announced
08:37as well at 12 000 rupees a share um how are you looking at the entire move that we are
08:43seeing uh you
08:44know m&m started off this move well this week itself with the numbers coming in and now it's going
08:49across to the two wheelers as well what is your own approach uh within the four wheelers two
08:53wheelers what's catching your attention so you know honestly uh two wheelers as you said uh i
08:59sort of re-looked at that basket given the fact that uh bajaj auto uh strong numbers strong buyback
09:05and the prices we have three major companies we have hero motor we have bajaj auto we have tvs motor
09:11all three have sort of uh all three are really really good names uh but then you have to look
09:16at the
09:16valuations and what is happening uh within uh each space and from a valuation perspective i
09:21honestly prefer hero motors at this point in time uh because there was a time in between where they
09:26didn't get some things right uh but i think now those things are falling in place so i think that's
09:30the stock i prefer and again i think all three have a good eb uh sort of uh visibility etc
09:37hero motors
09:38with this aether etc uh and so on and so forth and uh m&m i mean uh obviously i
09:43think great great
09:44numbers and again i think if you see the kind of uh cars that they have or display especially in
09:50the
09:50electric vehicle space then it's really a very uh good uh selection that they have come out of
09:56absolutely and let's also talk about the mid-cap space that i highlighted earlier how are you looking
10:02at this record move within the mid-cap space uh does it augur that even the benchmark indices are
10:08now going to be next in line to again chase their way to the record high levels that we've seen
10:14erst
10:14while and what is your fresh approach onto the mid-caps now that they've hit a fresh record high
10:20you know for a long time they were underperforming and slowly and gradually mid-caps are back at record
10:24highs in earlier when these um you know spaces were at record levels there was a lot of talk about
10:29steep valuations what would you say now yes but you know i think which was the point i was making
10:35earlier i think that even the bind that you see in mid-caps has come in a lot of sort
10:39of little
10:40known unknown names where perhaps the valuation offered something exciting or you saw some good
10:45numbers coming uh etc so i think you know in that sense market has been very discerning about what
10:51mid-cap stories to get into so there are the stories which you know could do well uh given that
10:57we
10:57getting into summer and monsoon etc or where the numbers have been good or certain themes like
11:02we've seen power as a theme play out we've seen infrastructure as a theme play out uh so you know
11:07people have sort of defense so you know people have sort of picked these themes and picked stocks within
11:13uh those themes related stocks and we've seen the buying come into that and i think that's a great
11:18sign because it certainly means that uh people are trying to find value uh through all the bad news
11:25sort of and find their uh sort of comfort uh space within uh that uh within that group of stocks
11:32but it doesn't necessarily mean that it will spill to the large cap i think for that you will have
11:37to see certainty return uh on a more sort of geopolitical level as well as maybe you know some
11:42uh shift in the fi buying right a quick comment on bhel uh with that record move coming in last
11:50couple of
11:50sessions it's been only soaring higher and after a long haul this fresh move has come in now it's hit
11:56a fresh record level 5.2 percent higher for bhel in fact in the last six years uh this stock
12:02has gone
12:02up 10 times uh your suggestion um you know from the covid lows till now uh wealth creator but a
12:09slow
12:09mover at that now what does uh the future look like for bhel i think very bright because very honestly
12:16over the last three or four years uh i've been sort of tracking that stock more closely and recommending
12:23it uh you know you did see i've been in the market for so long that i've seen this market
12:27uh the stock
12:28at sort of uh much higher levels and then you saw the deep correction uh given the fact that uh
12:34uh you
12:35know the issues with order book and things like that but the company has sort of pivoted itself and you
12:40are uh seeing certain changes that are now stuck and uh they've just grown from them so uh once again
12:47as i said you know for the last three or four years i've been very positive on the stock and
12:51would
12:51continue to be so okay we'll uh now wind down the markets and then come to your viewers queries now
12:58in a bit with sharmila but the markets have shut shop at 24,335 managing just uh some points of
13:04gains
13:04and managing to end just a wish in green uh you can see 0.02 percent higher autos have been
13:11the big
13:11contributors here almost a two percent uptake the broader markets too over a percent higher for
13:17mid caps almost a percent up for small caps real estate up half odd percent private banks also three
13:22tenths percent higher but it and psu banks have been declining on the nifty you have names like htfc
13:27live bajaj auto m&m grassim ntpc and apollo hospitals as the stocks that have rallied in the trade
13:34today those are the top gainers anywhere between two to three and a half percent higher even on the
13:38fno space you had names like paytm post earnings polycab as well uh you know smart moves that have
13:44been seen on those spaces within the broader markets of course you've seen godridge industry
13:48is 20 percent higher in trade today mbc developments another 20 percent uptake aeroflex industry is 20
13:55percent circuit mirc electronics another 20 circuit so many stocks really uh looking at a 20 circuit
14:02today they just networks arvin limited uh you also had names uh you know like aeroflex enterprises
14:09the entire group in fact seems to be in focus shipping corporation of india raymond realty also
14:13consecutively for the second day in a row continues to move up high and kernx micro these are the broad
14:19gainers that have really shot up in trade but let's get your queries now in focus sanjay from delhi has
14:25asked you a question sharmina this is uh where he asks you on the defense space is it the right
14:30time
14:30to invest in defense stocks for a one-year horizon well i wouldn't say whether from a one-year
14:36perspective or not but to my mind uh select midcap uh maybe a parting select defense stocks definitely
14:41you can invest in and for me this is now a slightly longer term theme uh because the way things
14:47are as
14:47we've been discussing you know i don't really see your focus sort of shifting away from uh defense
14:52stocks as maybe it had five ten years earlier so uh i think they will continue to stay in focus
14:58uh i
14:58definitely like for instance the shipbuilding stocks because all three of them have very very
15:02strong order books i definitely stocks like stocks like a bel i think even hal i think you know they
15:08had some sort of difficulties but they seem to be sort of uh uh getting over those and then i
15:14think
15:14maybe you could find some non-psu names also uh which uh could sort of get into if you are
15:20if you're
15:20slightly uh you know you want to do your research a little more and get into those stocks as well
15:25but there the valuations are a little high so you'll have to be a little selective so yes i think
15:30defense definitely warrants a look but i think uh keep your time horizon up to three years uh one
15:35year might be too short okay ajit from hydrabad has the next question he wants to know about liquor
15:40stocks are liquor stocks are likely to deliver better returns over the next three months i think it's
15:45the summer uh theme that he's looking at with the liquor stocks well i think united will do i mean
15:51i
15:51don't know about the rest of uh liquor stocks with uh uh i think beer is more a preferred drink
15:58but
15:59you know yes i do like the liquor stocks i do like united beauties i do like the sula vinyat
16:03i do like
16:04some of the other radical and you know stocks like that so it is a basket that i like it
16:09is a market
16:10that you like all right this is a space that you can definitely be in thank you so much sharmila
16:14always a
16:14pleasure to have you with us with all those insights that you share viewers in case you too have any
16:19questions about investments in mutual funds your sips stocks or gold related questions send them to us
16:24on the number that's flashing on your screens with that it's a wrap on the business today show
