00:09The accused, SRC Pakash Rao, M. V. Aligeswaran, T. Tiagasan and K. Shankar, all aged 25, nodded
00:18in understanding after the charge was read before Magistrate Naidatul Athira Azman, however,
00:24no plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
00:28They are accused of acting together, along with another individual still at large, to
00:34murder 70-year-old N. Jayagobi at a house in Pekanbaru, Hilirperak, between 6 and 6.30
00:41in the morning on April 17.
00:43The charge is under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment
00:50of up to 40 years and not less than 12 strokes of the cane if not sentenced to death.
00:55All four accused were unrepresented and no bail was offered.
00:59The court has fixed July 13 for the next case mention.
