00:00Do you want me to be your cheerleader?
00:01Go, I forgot.
00:02Go, I forgot.
00:04Last time, the teens took on vacation-inspired desserts.
00:08This cheesecake is better than my last cheesecake.
00:11Macy and Emmett won the challenge.
00:14Do they look raw?
00:15Uh-oh.
00:16So sorry, you guys.
00:17And Tomvi and Kavya had to move on.
00:20Now, the teamwork becomes even more vital.
00:24Yes, good, good, good.
00:33Oh, no, oh, no, no, no, no, no.
00:35What is this?
00:37Uh, as soon as we walk in, we see a table with two cakes.
00:41Yeah, I think we're pretty good at cake.
00:43We like doing, you know, cake stuff.
00:44So we're excited and nervous to see what comes next.
00:48Hey, y'all!
00:49Hi!
00:51All right, welcome back, siblings.
00:54Speaking as someone who knows, when you grow up with a sibling,
00:57your whole life can be a puzzle.
01:00Yeah.
01:00Yeah.
01:01When do I get to go first?
01:03Why do they get a cell phone and I don't?
01:05Oh, that's so true.
01:07Where do I fit in?
01:08Why do I have to sit in a trunk?
01:10What?
01:11Okay.
01:12Why do I have to sit in a trunk?
01:14And there's a baking trend right now called puzzle cakes.
01:20What?
01:21What?
01:21Puzzle cakes?
01:23I've seen puzzle cakes before, and they don't seem very easy to make.
01:27So it's definitely going to be a challenge.
01:29It's a single cake carved into two puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly.
01:34And here's how you do it.
01:36So I got two cakes here, this one is a rectangle, and I'm going to cut a triangle out of
01:43it.
01:44But here's the thing, if I just stuck that right back in there, nobody's going to know
01:49that it's actually a puzzle, so this is what I want you to do.
01:52You're going to cut this piece smaller.
01:56And now, when I stick it back in there, I'm leaving a gap.
02:01And that's how we're going to know that it's actually a puzzle and not just a cake with
02:06different colored frosting.
02:08That's really cool, actually.
02:10Now that you know how to do it, for this challenge, each team will work together to make a cake
02:16and then cut it into two interlocking puzzle pieces, which you'll have to decorate separately.
02:23Oh.
02:24Okay.
02:25Each baker will decorate their own piece in honor of their brother or sister.
02:29I am nervous having to decorate a part of the cake all by myself.
02:34Your two pieces do not need to look the same like a regular puzzle, but they do need to
02:39fit together just like the two of you.
02:41Got it.
02:42And since no two puzzle pieces are exactly the same, we want every cake to have a unique flavor.
02:50So we've got some cake flavors here.
02:54Oh.
02:55Oh, no.
02:56Okay.
02:58Okay.
02:59We're not going to assign your flavor.
03:02That awesome power belongs to the team whose name is on a puzzle piece in here.
03:11What?
03:12Oh, no.
03:14So whoever gets picked out of here gets to assign all the flavors to you guys.
03:20What?
03:21This is crazy.
03:24And that team is...
03:28Joby and Lenore!
03:32Joby and Lenore!
03:33Joby and Lenore!
03:34Joby and Lenore, come on up.
03:37Joby and Lenore, come on up.
03:37Or chocolate.
03:38Let's start with the flavor that you guys want.
03:41Chocolate?
03:42Because it's so much easier.
03:43It's so simple.
03:44We do not need something difficult.
03:46Chocolate.
03:46It's safer.
03:47All right.
03:47Now, grab a flavor and let's hear who you are assigning it to.
03:51Red velvet is Abigail and Kenneth.
03:56We get red velvet.
03:58I'm super excited!
04:00He's super excited!
04:03Love it.
04:04All right.
04:04What do you got there?
04:05Lemon.
04:05Macy and Emmett.
04:08Thank you, guys.
04:09Thank you, guys.
04:10Okay.
04:10I have carrot here.
04:11Akbar and Genesis.
04:13Oh, girl.
04:15You guys don't like carrot cake?
04:16I do.
04:17It's just...
04:18We haven't made it in a long time.
04:20Strawberry.
04:21Layla and Meli.
04:22Okay.
04:23You get strawberry?
04:24Yeah.
04:24I mean, it's better than, like, some of the ones that I've seen, so...
04:28Cameron and Abby, you guys get orange.
04:30Yes!
04:31All right.
04:31Not bad.
04:32I'll gladly take that.
04:33Cameron, why do you want orange?
04:34I just didn't want raspberry.
04:39Anything but raspberry.
04:41I like raspberries in general.
04:43They're my favorite berry.
04:44I love the flavor.
04:45But I don't have any recipes that are raspberry.
04:47Okay, we have cookies and cream.
04:49Because Harper and Holland won last week,
04:51we should give them the raspberry,
04:53because I think they can definitely...
04:54They're definitely able to accomplish it.
04:56It's something they want.
04:57But they're picking so hard.
04:58No.
04:59They won last week.
05:01Give it to the right people.
05:03Cookies and cream.
05:03Cookies and cream.
05:04You get cookies and cream.
05:06I'm sorry.
05:07I wouldn't give it to y'all, but y'all won last time.
05:09I'm sorry.
05:10We never won.
05:11Oh, last time.
05:11It's Macy and Emmett who won last week.
05:12That was Macy and Emmett who won last week.
05:13Slow.
05:14I was like, sorry.
05:16Don't get raspberry.
05:17They have been in the top.
05:20That means that they're scared of you guys.
05:22So it's good.
05:23All right.
05:24You all have your flavors and you have two and a half hours.
05:27It's good.
05:28And as always, the team with the least successful dessert
05:32will be leaving this kitchen.
05:35Our most puzzling challenge of the season starts now.
05:43Now.
05:44Okay.
05:44Okay.
05:45Okay.
05:47Macy, what size?
05:49Nine inch.
05:50Oh, come on.
05:52I need nine inch.
05:54Okay.
05:56No, Harper, that's too narrow.
05:57Harper.
05:58I can't pour this in, Harper.
06:05Not happy with you right now.
06:06We should not start off our beak like that.
06:09We were assigned raspberry.
06:11How do you feel about raspberry?
06:12Not good.
06:13I mean, I do like the flavor raspberry.
06:15We just don't have raspberry cake or raspberry buttercream.
06:17Recipes.
06:19So we're using a vanilla cake and then we're going to flavor it
06:22with raspberry puree.
06:23We usually have a half a cup of sour cream in my white cake.
06:27That's what gives it like moist, tender crumbs.
06:29But sour cream is very acidic.
06:31Raspberry puree is also acidic.
06:33So I take out half the sour cream and put in the same amount
06:36of raspberry puree.
06:38It will taste like raspberry.
06:40We are going to just do a classic circle with a circle cut out.
06:44Holland loves going on tropical vacations.
06:46So I'm going to decorate the big cake for Holland.
06:48I'm using coating chocolate, monstera leaves, and
06:51I'm going to turn with his flowers.
06:52I'm going to use pink frosting.
06:53Me too.
06:54I'm making some stars since Harper's a superstar.
06:58And then I'm making some roses since her middle name is Rose.
07:02Clean.
07:02Clean the station while I go get some stuff.
07:05Moving on.
07:09Oops.
07:11For the first time, we're asking the siblings to work individually.
07:16This is going to be very interesting, especially for the younger siblings
07:20that rely on their older siblings.
07:22This is my last.
07:24Or maybe this is my fifth.
07:27You forgot how many are in there?
07:29Yeah.
07:30We have two and a half hours to make a puzzle cake.
07:33Why did we speak and think?
07:35Addy hates doing that.
07:36That is one of our main differences.
07:38I love to match with people.
07:40She hates it.
07:40I hate matching with people.
07:41We're like puzzle pieces that fit together, but from different puzzles.
07:45We got red velvet cake, which I was really excited about because I have a good red velvet
07:48cake recipe that's very sturdy, but yet still very moist.
07:51She tastes like chocolate though, just so you know.
07:53Soft peaks.
07:55And then what I like about our red velvet cake is it has whipped egg whites in it,
07:59which makes it super, super fluffy.
08:01We're making a circular puzzle with a cream cheese frosting.
08:04We have to decorate our puzzle piece to represent our sibling.
08:07I will be taking the smaller piece.
08:10I'm going to make pundit corn and a coating chocolate dumbbell.
08:15Multiple.
08:16Multiple.
08:17Because she likes lifting weights.
08:22I love lifting weights.
08:24I started a couple years ago.
08:26I'm going to make a football themed cake.
08:29We both love football.
08:31He's way more into it though.
08:32Our family is Bears fans because we're from Illinois, but the Bears, they're not good.
08:37And he loves the lions.
08:38So now I've gotten to the point where I actually like the lions more than this.
08:43So I will be decorating the big portion of the cake lions themed with a chocolate football.
08:51The tricky thing about this challenge is making sure that the puzzle pieces fit together,
08:56but also still having a gap.
08:58I think it's going to take good decorating skills.
09:02I frosted the cake before multiple times.
09:05I think I can do this.
09:07Right between them.
09:16I'm putting the strawberries, right?
09:17And strawberry puree.
09:18Yeah, okay, got it.
09:19We go on a sign strawberry.
09:21So we're going to do a strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting.
09:24And we're doing nine inch square pans.
09:26I'm going to decorate a square for the smaller part.
09:28And then I'm going to make a fondant pizza.
09:31Because like every week my dad makes pizza from scratch and then Melody always like helps.
09:37I'm going to decorate Layla's like my part of the cake.
09:41I'm going to make it as a beach because her birthday is in the summer.
09:44And one time we went to the beach for her birthday and we had a blast.
09:49Our flavor, the strawberry, we have to like incorporate it better because in the last challenge we did a strawberry
09:54buttercream and they wanted like more of like strawberry taste.
09:59I want to make sure we have a story cake that we can carve but it also tastes more like
10:02strawberry.
10:02We're not adding that.
10:04Yes, we are.
10:05You sure you're adding this in there?
10:06Yeah, because that's what Abigail does and she's good.
10:09Okay, that's it.
10:10That's it.
10:10You can always add more Layla.
10:12Yeah.
10:12You poured a lot of the strawberry.
10:14We want to give the strawberry taste to your judges.
10:16Okay, but not too much.
10:17If you accidentally pour just too much at one time, the whole thing will get messed up.
10:22It's too light.
10:24It's not about the coloring of the taste.
10:25Yeah, it's too light so you won't be able to taste it.
10:27I want to redeem myself in this challenge.
10:29I'm adding strawberries, yep.
10:31You need a bit.
10:33No, Melody, Melody, no!
10:34No, no, no, no!
10:35Melody, no!
10:37No.
10:39It's going to make it good.
10:40Trust me.
10:41Stop.
10:41Let's stop.
10:42Melody, Melody.
10:42Melody.
10:43It's a powder.
10:44No.
10:45No.
10:49Okay, close it.
10:53Bye.
10:53Oh, really?
10:57Okay, add the extract now.
10:59Oh, really?
11:00Melody, extract.
11:01One tablespoon.
11:02Just do one tablespoon.
11:03Your head baker.
11:06We got orange, so we're doing like a vanilla cake with like orange flavoring and then an
11:11orange buttercream.
11:12We're going to use extract and orange zest.
11:15Yes!
11:16I smell orange.
11:17I mean, I don't know if that counts, but...
11:20Let's start with the icing.
11:22I don't want more in there.
11:24Hi, Abby.
11:25Hi, Cameron.
11:26What flavor did you all get?
11:28Orange.
11:29I remember your face was like, no!
11:32Why did he choose that?
11:34We're especially good with flavors, so I knew we could handle it with the extracts and the zest.
11:39Oh!
11:40We're doing circle shapes with a triangle cutout.
11:44Kind of like a pizza.
11:44I'm decorating a smaller piece because he's like younger.
11:47To represent Cameron.
11:49I'm going to decorate it green because his favorite football team from Philadelphia is green.
11:53I want to do like a bunch of different like sports stuff like the baseball and pickleball.
11:57Because obviously he plays pickleball.
11:59Two time pickleball champ of Plymouth meeting.
12:03This would be a pickle?
12:04Oh, there will be pickles.
12:06She eats pickles.
12:08Yeah.
12:09Pickles, I might do like a spicy cheese puff because she was a really high spice tolerance.
12:15And I want to decorate my side purple because Abby like loves purple.
12:20Well, you guys enjoy, have fun, and can't wait to taste your cake.
12:25All right, bye.
12:26Cameron, can you please sift the rest of this?
12:28I do not want to sift all of that.
12:30Negative goes brighter.
12:32Butter.
12:32The oil, the pans, and get the little, you know, the papers and all the water.
12:36I'm just in the back end.
12:36Melody, Layla, what are you guys making?
12:38Strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting.
12:40We're making a carrot cake with a cream cheese frosting.
12:45The judges say all our flavors are really good.
12:46So we're trying to, like, focus on our decorating.
12:49The shape we want to do is a circle cut out of our larger circle cake.
12:53And to decorate for Akbar, I'm going to make my puzzle piece Akbar's favorite colors.
12:58He likes art, so I want to make the painting palette.
13:01He's an artist for real.
13:02Like, he is making so many, like, cool things.
13:05I just love to draw, and art just lets me express my feelings in a creative way.
13:12For Genesis, I'm making a basketball with Pink Bo because she is girly and she loves basketball.
13:19I'm going to do the frosting right now.
13:22Bakers, you have 90 minutes left.
13:25Oh, gosh.
13:26Yeah, we need to get this in the oven.
13:29Okay.
13:33Go into the oven.
13:34Okay, we should have turned them around, Holla.
13:37Ew.
13:38Oh, it's turned white.
13:39Ew.
13:40Ew, I'm not proud of these cakes.
13:42Gray is cool if it's, like, charcoal flavored.
13:46Our cake is gray.
13:47But, like, I am not trying to serve them, like, a food that looks like it's moldy.
13:52Our cakes are gray.
13:54Flat twist!
13:57Can you use that?
13:59What?
13:59This is a tough challenge, guys.
14:00Okay.
14:02Puzzle cakes.
14:03Get it together.
14:05Harper and Hollins.
14:06What is going on here?
14:07Our cake turned gray.
14:09Gray?
14:09Yes.
14:10We made you a gray cake.
14:11What kind of cake are you making?
14:13Raspberry.
14:14Ah.
14:15So the actual crumb turned gray.
14:19The frosting's bright pink.
14:20The cake turned gray because of a chemical reaction from the raspberries.
14:24Yeah.
14:24A lot of times it will do that.
14:27Right?
14:28Yeah, it doesn't look good.
14:28All right, well, I wish you all the raspberry luck in the world.
14:32All right, thank you.
14:33Go get them.
14:33Bye!
14:34Kenneth, can you bring me a toothpick, please?
14:40Jovi and I chose chocolate, and we are going to make a death by chocolate cake.
14:46It's a chocolate cake with, like, a lot of chocolate.
14:48Then we're going to use a cream cheese frosting, not a chocolate frosting because you need to balance
14:52it a bit.
14:53To make our puzzle cake, we are going to take a square cake, cut out another smaller square
14:58from the inside.
14:59For Jovi's part of the cake, I'm taking the smaller square.
15:02It will be covered with black modeling chocolate and have yellow stars made out of marzipan because
15:10Jovi loves the color black, and she makes paper stars.
15:14This is why we do it over a bowl.
15:16She likes super bright colors, lots of sparkly, big energy.
15:20So for the larger piece, I'm decorating for Lenore.
15:23I'm going to decorate with white base, rainbow piping, flowers and little shapes, and I'm going to do an L
15:29on top.
15:29Is it clean?
15:31Yes.
15:32Okay.
15:34You're making one cake, cutting them into two pieces to make them fit together.
15:39We're making the challenges tougher.
15:41Yeah, I hear that.
15:44I definitely do not think two and a half hours is enough time to make a cake, make sure they're
15:51very cool, frost the cake, cut the cake, and decorate the cake.
16:04Uh-oh.
16:06We got lemon, so we're going to do a lemon cake with a lemon American buttercream.
16:11I feel really good because I've worked with lemon before, and it's one of my favorite flavors.
16:15That one is done.
16:18We're getting three nine-inch rounds, and then we're going to cut out whatever shape he wants
16:23because I'm going to let him decide.
16:25Triangle.
16:26Triangle.
16:27No, not a triangle.
16:27They did that.
16:28They did a triangle.
16:29Where?
16:30Maybe.
16:31We'll see.
16:31And we're going to cut out a half circle, kind of like a half of a moon kind of shape.
16:36I'm going to decorate my cake with a fondant puppy.
16:39But she likes Dalmatians, so I'm making her a Dalmatian.
16:42I absolutely love dogs and puppies because we breed dogs.
16:46We have four labs at home.
16:47I'm going to decorate our supplies to represent Evans.
16:50I will draw anything you give me.
16:53I love to sketch animals.
16:55So I'm going to make pencils and paper and, like, drawings out of fondant.
17:01Because our cake just got out.
17:07Oh, perfect.
17:08Our dad loves puzzles.
17:09You hate puzzles.
17:10I don't like puzzles that much, no.
17:12She's not good for it.
17:12I'm patient enough to sit down and do it piece by piece.
17:15And she'd rather watch TV.
17:17That's the truth they say.
17:18I'd rather sit in her bed and watch TV do a puzzle and exercise your brain.
17:22Yeah.
17:23More chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs.
17:26Leah and Kira.
17:28Hello.
17:29Hello.
17:29Hi, girls.
17:30Okay.
17:30What is your flavor?
17:32Cookies and cream.
17:33We have vanilla cake with chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs in it.
17:36Ooh.
17:36And then chocolate sandwich cookie buttercream.
17:38And I'm going to make a marscapone marshmallow fruit cream.
17:42Kind of like the center of chocolate sandwich cookies.
17:44Yum.
17:45Okay.
17:45Now, what's the shape of your puzzle?
17:47Heart.
17:48Yes.
17:48Oh, how cute.
17:51Now, did you choose a heart because you all love each other?
17:53Yes.
17:54Yeah.
17:54And because...
17:55Oh, wait, wait.
17:55That took you a minute.
17:56We do love each other.
17:58What was up with that pause?
17:59Like, sorta, sometimes.
18:00I thought we were going to try and say it at the same time, but we didn't.
18:03Oh.
18:04Synchronization.
18:04Now, you girls are known for your decorating.
18:06Okay.
18:07So, I'm sure that it's going to look absolutely beautiful.
18:09All right.
18:10Good luck, girls.
18:12To demonstrate Kira's love of gardening, so I was planning to make a wood grain around
18:15my half and then put the chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs on top to look like dirt and add
18:20little plants.
18:21I'm going to do a yellow background because her favorite color is yellow.
18:24And I'm going to do a ponte and two seashells on the top because she likes the ocean and
18:30like the beach.
18:33That's cooling pretty fast.
18:35Good.
18:35We'll put them in the filler and it will be perfect.
18:37Ugh.
18:39I'm going to make a pizza out of fondant and I'm going to airbrush it.
18:42And then I toast some coconut so it's kind of like cheese.
18:48I'm going to add pepperoni and basil to her pizza because that's what she eats.
18:52Don't eat the basil, but you used to and then you got picky.
18:56Settle down my sugar plum.
18:59That looks really good.
19:01I'm so proud I've never done this.
19:02I'm making my sea creatures out of coating chocolate.
19:07Okay.
19:08Bakers, you have 45 minutes.
19:10That can't be right.
19:12What?
19:13I'm really worried about time because we don't have everything done yet and we still need
19:18to get our cakes cooled and then decorated.
19:20You need to make sure your cakes are set and like they're not still hot when you like
19:26carve into your cake.
19:28Awkward, I need you to come open this for me.
19:30I can't never open it.
19:31Open what?
19:35Oh no!
19:38Here's the good part.
19:39You can pick that up off the ground and slice the top off and you are good to go.
19:44You do not have to rebake anything.
19:45You are fine.
19:46Hold on buddy.
19:48I thought that was going to put me like really behind because like I thought I wouldn't
19:52be able to use it anymore.
19:53So luckily the cake fell on against like the top side that we were going to have to trim
19:57off anyways.
20:00Awkward, come over here please.
20:02Open the freezer.
20:04So I don't drop it again.
20:0530 minutes.
20:08Yeah, I think right there's good.
20:09All right, remember you're cutting one cake making them into two pieces that fit together.
20:15So how are we going to do the puzzle piece?
20:16Push it, push it down.
20:17That's going to work right?
20:18I think.
20:19We'll cut half of a circle and then we cut that a little bit smaller so you have that
20:24gap that Duff is looking for and add it to the other half so it looks like a puzzle piece.
20:30Here?
20:32Yeah.
20:33You know, puzzle cakes, they test a lot of different skills.
20:37The number one test is you got to make the pieces fit together.
20:41That looks special.
20:42Right?
20:43You can't shave off too much.
20:44Mm-hmm.
20:44Bigger piece.
20:46You can't shave off too little rather than it doesn't fit.
20:49But you can't put too much icing on there.
20:52Oh, shoot.
20:53If you don't put enough, it's not going to taste right.
20:56You know, you really got to find a balance.
20:58Yes.
20:58I guess I need to trim it off more, but remember for the gap, but I'll do that to mine.
21:04While Abby's finishing cutting, it's okay.
21:06I will start on my decorations.
21:08He's making dumbbells because I lift weights.
21:11And I'm making pundit corn plants.
21:14Because as has been established, I love corn.
21:17I'm going to make a chocolate football and start frosting my cake.
21:21And then whenever you think yours is really, really cold, you can start on it.
21:25Ooh, and this is a great time for us to see the difference in the level of decorating between the
21:29older kids and the younger kids.
21:31Right.
21:32So you're brushing it and you're smoothing it.
21:34The whole cake needs to have a lot of frosting, okay?
21:39I'm way too type A for this.
21:41Abby, it's okay.
21:42You're going to have to learn to trust me.
21:44Can you do this any faster?
21:46No.
21:48You're fine.
21:49You're fine.
21:50Okay.
21:51Yes.
21:51Good.
21:52Good.
21:52Good.
21:54All right, we got it out.
21:55How do we make this?
21:56I can do.
21:56Put like this.
21:58Like this much off.
22:00Cameron, no, no, no, no, no.
22:01Stop.
22:02Stop.
22:02It's falling off.
22:04So it's a little small.
22:06We just had to go with it at that point.
22:08Are we a little worried on time here?
22:10Yeah.
22:11The challenges are definitely getting more difficult.
22:13I'm going to do like green, Kelly green, and then you make yours purple.
22:17It's like if you put this in a sports terms, it's like high school baseball team to go into making
22:24a major league baseball team.
22:25This looks so bad.
22:27Oh my gosh.
22:2820 minutes.
22:30Oh, jeez.
22:31I think I'm going to do like a half circle.
22:34Frosting is melting.
22:36Our cake is very spongy, which is really good.
22:38Let's see how best we can get this.
22:40But it's also not working very well to make the puzzle piece.
22:45It just looks like a random shape.
22:48That's just got to be fun.
22:50Okay.
22:51I just quickly grabbed fondant to make some pencils, some paper, and use an edible marker to draw some like
22:58sketches to represent Emmett.
23:02Macy likes Dalmatians.
23:03So to make this puppy, I'm going to use black and white fondant.
23:09And his body is kind of plump.
23:17I just need to finish the seashells.
23:19Okay.
23:20Why did we not make a round cake?
23:22Because we gotta be unique.
23:25We are going to make this giant like rainbow covering the like dark shadow.
23:30Because Jovi likes dark colors.
23:33It's black darkness.
23:34No.
23:36I'm the storm.
23:37She's the rainbow.
23:38Hey, the elf doesn't look that bad.
23:40Oh, I love that.
23:41Oh my gosh.
23:42That actually looks so cute.
23:44As long as it fits inside my cake.
23:47Have you represented your sibling in your cake?
23:50Does that look like a puppy?
23:52Yeah, it looks like a dog.
23:53Ten minutes left.
23:56It's okay.
23:56This is just like the most chaotic part.
23:58Once we get the fondant on it, it's gonna be so much easier.
24:00You okay?
24:01Yeah.
24:02I'm doing my side outside first.
24:04What's that supposed to be?
24:05I'm making a garden.
24:06She loves gardening.
24:07A lot.
24:07Time's almost up and I need to get my fondant and my last decorations on the cake.
24:11See, they're good.
24:12Uh-huh.
24:13But make sure there's enough to try to not yet.
24:14Slowly go over, fondant.
24:15Just hold on.
24:16We're a little busy right now.
24:17Yeah, keep going.
24:18Keep going.
24:19Yeah.
24:21Cake is kind of crumbly.
24:23And it's like hard for me to ice it.
24:25It's very stressful.
24:27To defrost an entire cake by myself.
24:29It's like fluffy and like the flavor comes through.
24:32It's a nice texture.
24:33But defrosting doesn't stick the way you want it to.
24:36That smell.
24:37Oh.
24:38You got to focus on those decorations then.
24:40For Genesis, I'm making a basketball and a pimpiscus flower out of fondant.
24:44That's like her favorite flower.
24:46And then I'm going to do a coating chocolate bow.
24:49To make the paint palette, I use fondant.
24:57To decorate my part of the puzzle, I put some graham cracker sand and then I put some blue frosting
25:04on.
25:05I have an idea.
25:06I'm going to put powder sugar like a wave coming.
25:08Put some powder sugar on the edge to make it look like a wave.
25:12Five minutes.
25:14If you were ever to put your puzzle pieces together, now would be the time.
25:21I'm just going to slide it in.
25:23Seriously?
25:24What?
25:25I didn't cut off quite enough.
25:27It was going to go in, but it's not going up.
25:29I don't care.
25:29Just put it in and make it fit.
25:31I care.
25:31Yeah, no.
25:32This doesn't fit.
25:33Good puzzle pieces.
25:34Hey, at least it covers up like the ugly sides.
25:37It's a pickle.
25:38Okay.
25:40What are you making?
25:41Pickle ball.
25:42Three minutes.
25:44Get your puzzles together.
25:47Okay, we're doing it.
25:48We're doing it.
25:49Yes.
25:50I don't like that it's sticky now.
25:55Hold for a shot, Colin.
25:56Look at Genesis.
25:57Is it going to go in?
25:58Is it going?
25:59Oh, it's not.
26:00Ooh.
26:02It's not going to fit.
26:03So I cut off a piece of my cake and I'm able to put his in.
26:06And it doesn't look the best.
26:09They're working down to the wire.
26:11One minute.
26:14Last minute touches.
26:16If you want to move some stuff around.
26:18I made a little pumpkin.
26:20It doesn't look good.
26:21What is that?
26:22It's a cheese puff.
26:27That's it, bakers.
26:28Your time is up.
26:30There are eight teams in this kitchen.
26:33Soon there will be seven.
26:35Slaver is the only thing saving us.
26:38I think this isn't the first time I'm really worried.
26:41I'm feeling like it looks terrible, but at this point, I don't really know.
26:47You know, our siblings fit together perfectly.
26:50Mm-hmm.
26:50Will their cakes.
26:52Mmm.
26:53We'll see.
26:55Abigail and Kenneth.
26:56Hello.
26:57Hi.
26:58Kenneth, what's going on with this cake?
26:59What are we looking at?
27:01Um, a red velvet cake.
27:05With cream cheese frosting.
27:07So, he's a big Lions fan.
27:08He has a whole bunch of football cards.
27:10His favorite ones are the ones of Lions players, so I did a Lion theme.
27:13Sam Laporta.
27:15Kenneth, how did you decorate your cake to represent Abigail?
27:18I did, uh, dumbbells because she likes lifting weights.
27:22What else is on that cake?
27:24Really?
27:25It's corn.
27:26Oh, it's corn.
27:27Oh, is that what that is?
27:30Corn is our good luck charm, so now no matter what dessert we make, there's gonna be corn decorations.
27:35I think this represents you all so well.
27:41Yeah, I mean, listen, I think everything about this cake works, just this piece.
27:44It doesn't really belong.
27:46Doesn't quite fit in there.
27:47Still don't know how that piece was born out of that cake.
27:54Yeah, look at that.
27:55Clean.
27:58I love your cream cheese frosting.
28:00I think you have the perfect amount of sugar.
28:02Your sponge, on the other hand, it's very dry.
28:06It's not as moist as a red velvet cake should be, in my opinion.
28:10I love this.
28:13It's like, it's red, it's got a little cocoa in it.
28:15It's red velvet.
28:16It's pretty good.
28:19Bye, Kenneth.
28:20Bye, Kenneth.
28:24Hi, Harper and Holland.
28:26Hi.
28:27We got raspberry flavor.
28:30We took our white cake, and we replaced a bit of the sour cream with some raspberry puree.
28:35And we have raspberry American buttercream.
28:38I did the smiley piece.
28:39I had these chocolate roses, because Harper's middle name is Rose.
28:43And then I did chocolate stars, because she's a superstar.
28:47Oh.
28:48So, Holland loves to go to tropical places.
28:50So, I added some, like, hibiscus flowers and, like, a tropical leaf, because that reminds
28:55me of her.
28:56It definitely represents your personalities.
28:58Yeah.
28:58But when I think of a puzzle piece, I think of a slight gap.
29:03This is a big gap.
29:06Let's taste it.
29:09Ooh.
29:10It's great.
29:11Yeah.
29:13It is.
29:14It kind of freaked us out.
29:15I'm going to eat the garlic first.
29:18Generally speaking, I try to avoid gray food.
29:21Yeah.
29:22Because you probably don't want to eat it.
29:24But it's got a ton of raspberry flavor.
29:27Good.
29:28Good.
29:28Ladies, great job.
29:29Thank you so much.
29:31Thanks, Harper.
29:31Thanks, Holland.
29:32Not trying to jinx us.
29:34I think we may be safe.
29:35Handshake.
29:38Hi.
29:41Leah and Kira.
29:42Hi, girls.
29:44Hi.
29:45So, today we have prepared for you a cookies and cream cake with cookies and cream buttercream.
29:50So, on my side, it's decorated with a yellow base of fondant, because Leah's favorite color is yellow.
29:57And I put a palm tree and two shells on there, because she loves the ocean and going to the
30:02beach.
30:02And for my side, I try to demonstrate Kira's love gardening.
30:06So, I kind of try to make it look like one big garden box, like with the wood grain and
30:10all, like, the different plants on top.
30:12I'm so impressed.
30:13You made a big heart.
30:14And then the way that you turned it into a puzzle, just really, really smart.
30:19I think the garden is beautiful.
30:20You got some great little pumpkins in there.
30:22Really cool wood grain.
30:24I like how you have, like, shells and a tree.
30:27This is awesome.
30:29Cookies and cream.
30:31With filling on the inside that has, like, mascarpone, marshmallow cream, and, like, whipped cream.
30:38This is delicious.
30:40I love your sponge.
30:41There's tons of chocolate sandwich cookie flavor.
30:44Cookies and cream all day.
30:46But I think your filling is too sweet.
30:49It's just a lot of sugar.
30:50But you two are very talented.
30:53Thank you so much.
30:54Nice job.
30:55Thank you, girls.
30:56Bye.
30:58It's good all day.
30:59Cookies and cream.
31:00Yeah.
31:03Hi.
31:04Hi, Macy and Emmett.
31:05We got lemon.
31:06So we made a lemon cake.
31:10I made the bigger part for Emmett.
31:12Emmett is, like, loves to draw.
31:15And so I did some papers and pencils.
31:18He likes to name, like, a lot of the stuff he draws, like, he's doing animals or stuff.
31:23So I went with Duff.
31:25Duff the dog.
31:28I made a dog because she loves dogs, especially Dalmatians.
31:33Well, the buttercream was a little messy.
31:35Yeah.
31:35But I can tell that it's a piece of a puzzle that's being fit into the actual puzzle, the bigger
31:40size.
31:41Without you saying a word, I would have known Emmett likes to draw.
31:44And I would have known that you like fat little dogs.
31:48He looks kind of cute.
31:50He's a bit chunky.
31:53That's a compliment.
31:55It's really cute.
31:57Lemon cake.
32:02Lemon.
32:04Lemon, lemon, lemon.
32:06It's so good.
32:06I would have gone maybe a little bit more zest and a little less extract.
32:10Because the extract has some faint but really strong acidic notes.
32:14But a beautiful bite of cake.
32:17For real.
32:20Layla and Melody, I like pizza by the bay.
32:23What did you make?
32:24So today we made a strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting.
32:28For Layla, on her birthday, we go to the beach with some close friends and we usually have a blast.
32:33I made a pizza for Melody because every weekend Melody likes to help my dad make pizza in his pizza
32:41oven.
32:41You know what I really like about this is the white water really adds a lot to it, right?
32:47Pizza looks good.
32:48Cheese?
32:51But I'm not sure if it's a puzzle.
32:53You got a lot of space.
32:56Okay.
32:57Got a...
32:58Ooh.
33:00Hmm.
33:01Your sponge.
33:02I get a little bit of strawberry in there.
33:05Is there strawberry in your cream cheese frosting?
33:08Ah.
33:09I get it.
33:10I got strawberry.
33:11But cake itself is a little gummy.
33:14It's just a little heavier than I think you probably wanted it to be.
33:17But I think it's delicious.
33:20Bye.
33:21I think we made up for the cake last time.
33:23Flip-flops are pretty good.
33:24I don't know what you're saying.
33:25I don't know.
33:28Abby and Cameron.
33:29Hi.
33:30Hi, guys.
33:31Pickles, huh?
33:32Oh, yeah.
33:33Pickles.
33:33Okay.
33:34So it's an orange cake with orange buttercream.
33:38And then I did the big one, purple, because purple's her favorite color.
33:42I did pickles because she eats pickles.
33:46And then a spicy cheese puff because she loves spicy things.
33:50For his side, I did a pickleball, a baseball, and a football because he likes sports.
33:56I knew those were pickles instantly.
34:00To be fair, I thought they were pickled asparagus, but I knew they were pickles.
34:03They're a little skinny for pickles.
34:05Yeah.
34:06Right?
34:06And it's a little messy, kids.
34:08Yeah.
34:09It's a little messy.
34:09I can see a lot of cake around here.
34:13Yeah.
34:13And the puzzle part of it, you know, maybe this piece is to the wrong puzzle.
34:19Yeah.
34:21But yeah, even though it may not be as you envisioned, you never know how it's going
34:27to end up.
34:27We'll see.
34:28Oh.
34:30Okay.
34:35Orange, right?
34:36Yeah.
34:37Orange.
34:37Is there any filling?
34:39I don't see any filling.
34:40The cake might have been too hot, and it seeped through the cake.
34:45No.
34:45Not good.
34:50Really, really good sponge.
34:52Really, uh, super tender, really fluffy.
34:54There's a hint of orange.
34:56I'll use a little more.
34:58I taste tons of orange.
34:59It's kind of still lingering right here.
35:01Yeah.
35:02Just needed some more frosting.
35:04All right.
35:07It ended up turning out, like, not that bad, so it was okay.
35:14Genesis and Akbar.
35:16Hi.
35:17Okay, so who's responsible for each piece?
35:19My side was the blue side.
35:21That's one of his favorite colors.
35:23Yeah.
35:23I tried to make an art palette out of fondant, because he likes to, like, draw and paint.
35:29And then I did orange, like, compared to the blue.
35:32I made the pink side.
35:34I made, uh, white chocolate hibiscus flower.
35:37Because Genesis' favorite flower is hibiscus.
35:40And then I made a little orange basketball with a little bow on it.
35:45Genesis, you play basketball?
35:46Yes, I play basketball.
35:48Oh.
35:49Don't mess with Genesis.
35:51Not only does she bake, she can cross you up, too.
35:55Clearly a basketball, clearly a flower, 100% a palette with paint on it.
36:02So I think you told your story really good.
36:04Um, but there's, like, definitely some technical issues.
36:06Like, the puzzle part of it, like, the cake's kind of sort of spreading out a little bit.
36:10Yeah, looks like you, you guys had some trouble.
36:13But I hope it tastes delicious.
36:15Yeah.
36:17So, we made a carrot cake with a cream cheese frosting.
36:26Delicious.
36:28Moise cake, beautiful flavors, spices, got tons of carrot, which I love.
36:34It is.
36:34It's really tender, really soft.
36:36Think of maybe a, a skosh more sugar in your frosting.
36:39Okay.
36:40It's a little cream cheesy.
36:41Okay.
36:41Like, I feel like if I put salmon on here, it might be all right.
36:45But yeah, listen, delicious.
36:48Bye.
36:49Thanks, guys.
36:52Jovi and Lenore.
36:54Hi.
36:55Hi.
36:56Our flavor we chose was chocolate, and we did a death by chocolate cake.
37:00For Jovi, I made a black base, because black is her favorite color.
37:04And I did a few stars, because Jovi adores making paper stars.
37:09To represent Lenore and her joyful, happy, bright self.
37:14I wanted to have super bright colors.
37:16A lot of different, like, bright energy.
37:19And then I piped an L on top for Lenore.
37:21This puzzle cake represents your personalities very well.
37:25I love the rainbow piping and the hearts.
37:28And kind of like, look at your outfit right now, Lenore.
37:31Very, very on brand.
37:34And this clearly looks like Jovi.
37:36It's so rock and roll.
37:37You're so dark and mysterious.
37:40The puzzle, it is a little tight.
37:43There is a lot of space here, but on the sides, there's not a lot of space.
37:46But great representation of your personalities.
37:49You did not like being in the bottom last time, did you?
37:52No.
37:52No.
37:52Definitely not.
37:54Ooh.
37:55Whoa.
37:56We did a cream cheese frosting to balance it just a bit.
38:03Oh, my God, I'm dying.
38:04Death by chocolate.
38:07Pew, pew.
38:10No.
38:12I thought you were actually going to fall.
38:13Ooh.
38:15Your sponge is so tender.
38:17It's got a great chocolate flavor.
38:19Cream cheese frosting on the outside was really smart, too.
38:21Yeah, I got nothing.
38:23This is great.
38:23I'm going to have a couple more bites.
38:25Thanks, girls.
38:26Thank you so much.
38:28Oh, I love them.
38:30This is a good chocolate cake.
38:38What we loved about this challenge is that you were able to reveal a little bit about your sibling,
38:44and even more about your baking skills.
38:46And two teams broke away from the pack.
38:50Jovi and Lenore.
38:54And...
38:56Leah and Kira.
39:00Yeah.
39:00But the team who came out on top in today's puzzle cake challenge is...
39:10Leah and Kira.
39:13Yes.
39:15Yes.
39:15Your heart-shaped puzzle was so creative.
39:18The wood-textured fondant was so inventive.
39:21And your cookies and cream cake had tons of chocolate sandwich cookie flavor.
39:26Congratulations, you guys.
39:28You two and Jovi and Lenore will be joining us next time.
39:32Yay!
39:32Good job, guys.
39:35Four other teams also created some great cakes.
39:40And we'll be here for another bake.
39:44They are...
39:45Layla and Melody.
39:47Good job.
39:48Macy and Emmett.
39:51Abigail and Kenneth.
39:52Yes.
39:55And...
40:01Harper and Holland.
40:04Holland and I dodged a bullet.
40:06And we are coming back next week to continue baking.
40:11I'm kind of freaking out right now.
40:13That leaves Genesis and Akbar and Abby and Cameron.
40:17I really don't want to go home.
40:19I want to stay in this competition.
40:21Genesis and Akbar, look, let's face it.
40:24Your carrot cake puzzle was a mess.
40:27Structurally, it was kind of falling apart, and your cream cheese frosting was a little too tangy.
40:33Abby and Cameron, I didn't get much orange flavor in your cake, and there was no frosting on the inside.
40:40And all of your decorations needed more finesse and clarity.
40:45We love seeing you all work so closely together today.
40:50But in this competition, you rise or fall as a team.
40:54And unfortunately, the team leaving us today is...
41:01Abby and Cameron, I'm sorry.
41:05I'm really proud that we made it this far, and, like, being able to be in that kitchen is just,
41:09like, really cool, and it was so fun.
41:11You guys brought so much personality to this kitchen.
41:14Really gonna miss you all.
41:16You did insane.
41:18Bye, Abby.
41:18Bye, Cameron.
41:19Bye, Cameron.
41:20Bye, Pickles.
41:21We made some forever friends, and it's been fun.
41:27You guys are getting close to the midway of the competition.
41:32How do you feel?
41:33Good.
41:34We are saved, and we are gonna get to bake next week.
41:38I was very relieved.
41:39See you all next time.
41:41Bye.
41:43Next time...
41:44Sleepover breakfast...
41:46Impostors!
41:48The bakers attempt edible illusions.
41:52That looks so good.
41:53The egg is blowing my mind.
41:55It even looks like an egg on the fork.
41:56This is tripping me out.
41:58Geez, you really fooled me this time.
