00:03Yeah, you guys got a counter there or something?
00:05Yeah, because, see, I realize I've been cussing like a sailor.
00:07Drunken sailor?
00:08All day.
00:09With no alcohol in my system.
00:12I've just been cussing, bro.
00:14Got a lot on the mind.
00:16That's why.
00:17This clicker counter is going to give me a sense of how bad my cussing is.
00:23Good morning.
00:24What's up, dog?
00:25How y'all done?
00:26Ready today?
00:27Yes, ma'am.
00:27Welcome to Montevallo.
00:28We're going to be here for a while, huh?
00:30Dad!
00:31F*** it!
00:33What did he say?
00:34He said, love, Dave.
00:36Love, Dave.
00:37Dave.
00:38Dave, f*** you.
00:41Watch your book out, dude.
00:46When storage units are abandoned,
00:50the treasures within
00:54are put up for auction.
00:55I think I scored on this.
00:56So did you win!
00:57One hundred.
00:58Oh, oh, oh.
01:00Oh, oh.
01:02Oh.
01:02Oh, oh.
01:03Oh, oh.
01:03Oh, oh, oh.
01:04Oh, oh, oh.
01:05Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:06Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:07Today I'm heading to Montebello.
01:09I love this Montebello facility because it always have a lot of units and good units.
01:15I've gotten some stuff ranging from Brazilian masks to the old carnival birds that you would
01:21shoot at the carnival.
01:22I missed a good artwork unit here one time.
01:25This is one of those facilities that you never want to miss because you'll never hear the end
01:29of it.
01:30Anything and everything you can think of comes out of Montebello.
01:33If there's a good one here today, it will definitely be mine.
01:38I'm getting sick of being run up all the time.
01:41All the time.
01:41That's all you tell me every time you go over the phone.
01:43It's like everybody else gets to buy rooms cheap and then for some reason when I like
01:48it, it's just they add a thousand or five hundred.
01:52It's like, wow, it's like, how come we can't get a good deal?
01:55I think we need to be secretive, like on the DL.
02:00If Lupe and I could keep quiet, we could get a unit for a steal.
02:05Does that mean we have secret codes?
02:07You're like, I cracked myself.
02:10That means we're going to nail them?
02:13The nail is like a...
02:14Like the ham.
02:18On my way to Montebello, California.
02:21The big ivy that could.
02:23Choo, choo.
02:24No turning.
02:25No getting off track.
02:26Gonna buy it.
02:27Gonna load it.
02:28Gonna bring it back and sell it.
02:30Choo, choo.
02:31And then start all over again.
02:32This train is always chugging.
02:34So it's best you stay out of my way.
02:36The ivy motive.
02:38With the big old caboose.
02:43I'm relieving all kind of stress.
02:47You are Aubrey today.
02:48I'm at 55 right now.
02:50Whoa.
02:52Choo, choo.
02:53Looks like one of them hobos off the train.
02:55Is there food on your train?
02:56Yes.
02:57I'm riding on.
02:58Spam only.
02:59We don't fry it.
03:00We don't get, you know, no...
03:01We eat butt-naked Spam?
03:03No crackers.
03:03We just give it Spam and water.
03:05Oh, no.
03:06That's like prison food.
03:07That's working man food back in the day.
03:08All conductors eat Spam and water.
03:10For real?
03:10Yeah.
03:11Oh, man.
03:12I'm glad I ain't on no train now.
03:13Ivy's just conducting his way into bad decisions.
03:17All aboard!
03:18Hey, that's what we should say before the auction today.
03:20All aboard!
03:22I got something a little bit more effective to get this auction going.
03:25Bring your a** this way.
03:27Yeah, yeah.
03:28Two more clicks.
03:29Can I subtract numbers?
03:32Welcome to the auction.
03:33We're Dan and Laura Dotson with American Auctioneers.
03:35Before you go through these gates, you need to know the rules.
03:38You're going to go to the unit, remove the lock, and open the door.
03:39I'll give you five minutes to take a look around.
03:41You can't go inside the unit.
03:43Can't open any boxes.
03:43Who's ever got the most money in their pocket can own it today.
03:46Are you ready?
03:47Yeah!
03:49All right, let's go, folks!
03:52All right, where are we at?
03:53All right, folks!
03:55Big unit, big door!
03:59All right!
04:02This is a 10 by 13!
04:05Oh!
04:20Lupe and I are trying to lay low, so we're not giving away anything at the door.
04:24You want to know what the key is?
04:25What?
04:26I have that zipper bag.
04:27Black one?
04:28On top?
04:29Yeah.
04:29I think it's a high-end bicycle.
04:31Really?
04:32Maybe we should swing the pad.
04:33Yeah.
04:33You feel it?
04:34Yeah.
04:35All right.
04:35Beautiful.
04:37Looks like we've got a desk, like they're working in here doing a little bit of office work.
04:40Big off-road skateboard, which is kind of cool.
04:43Office chair.
04:44Yeah.
04:44I don't know what's in those boxes, but if I had to guess, it's going to be office.
04:48Boring, but if it makes money, I'm in.
04:51Oh, there you go.
04:53Look at that stuff.
04:54I like it.
04:57File cabinets, golf clubs.
04:59This guy was enjoying life.

05:25I like it.
05:27I liked it the first time.
05:28I liked it the second time.
05:30And I like it a third time when I win it and go through it.
05:33Little surf waveboards, flippers.
05:36What's in that bike?
05:37I don't know.
05:38I think it's an animal.
05:39Okay.

11:20Looking at this, I'm going to have to find somebody
11:22who knows how to put these stilettos together.
11:24Shoot me the money.
11:33Here we go, America.

14:10A little bit of tools.
14:11Everything's sellable.
14:13And it's on the smaller side.
14:14So I won't be cleaning it up all the live long day.
14:17I'm bidding on this one.
14:19Right up my rails.

18:51Come see all these lights.
18:54Wow.
18:55Man, Kenny, this car is broke as you.
18:57Car problems ain't gonna do , but my cuts count.
19:02Hey, Dave, what was that number, the AAA?
19:051-800-F-O-F-F.
19:09Watch your profanity.
19:15We don't have to be quiet anymore.
19:17Yes, no more.
19:18We can turn off, we can see if our secret code
19:20Worked?
19:21Will prevail.
19:22Ooh.
19:25Wow.
19:26You watch, low profile will equal high profits.
19:30Ooh, that one's good.
19:32Yeah, vintage starter, San Francisco 49ers.
19:35Oh, that's cool.
19:35That's Wilson leather.
19:36I mean, it's a nice heavy motorcycle leather jacket.
19:40The count of the goose is expensive.
19:42Probably refills like $1,000.
19:43I think it's at least $1,000 for everything.
19:46Oh, okay.
19:47Nice clean pants.
19:48Oh, jerseys.
19:49Ooh.
19:50T-shirts.
19:51Easily a hundred bucks in closing that tote.
19:54I don't know how this is gonna work out.
19:56I'll try to hold at least one bike.
19:59Oh, we're getting close.
20:00Ah!
20:01We did it.
20:02Ooh.
20:04All right, was it worth it?
20:06Are the bikes good?
20:07One is actually really good.
20:08PK River, 26-inch upgraded parts.
20:12So, I mean, I think this bike, we could at least get $1,000.
20:16Is this the better bike?
20:17This is the better one.
20:18This one, the components are basic.
20:21They're not like Shimano or anything.
20:22This bike will ask like $150 for it.
20:25Not bad.
20:26Nothing special.
20:29Ooh, we got rich and Levi's.
20:32$80, $100, $120, $300.
20:35Nice.
20:36At $20 a pair.
20:37Easy.
20:38Oh, you're good.
20:40When I look at a bike, first thing I always look for is components.
20:43It looks nice.
20:44This is an entry-level Shimano.
20:46It's not really that high quality, so we'll get at least $100 for it.
20:50What do we got?
20:51Looks pretty cool, though.
20:52I think that's the best one.
20:54Pretty cool.
20:55I think I win.
20:56Oh, that's a good one.
20:57Yeah, I win.
20:58That's actually one of the best ones.
21:00Okay.
21:01That one goes for $250.
21:03Okay.
21:03See, I win.
21:06A vintage BMX bike.
21:07This is a freestyle.
21:09Well, at least $300.
21:11What's a gum wizard?
21:14Gum wizard.
21:15Does it sell gum?
21:17I don't think there's...
21:18Cleans gum out of the floor?
21:19Wow, yes.
21:20It's a commercial gum cleaner.
21:22I mean, I'll ask $1,500 for it.
21:24We'll see what happens.
21:26Look at this.
21:27Isn't it weird?
21:28It almost looks like when you go get your hair done and they put you on that dryer so that
21:32your hair dries faster.
21:35Oh, it's a speaker.
21:37That is a speaker.
21:40Do you know what it's worth?
21:42I really don't.
21:43I think we could find someone to speak to us.
21:45Okay.
21:45Wow, look at all the tools.
21:48Okay, so...
21:49Wow.
21:51Oh, more tools.
21:52There's a lot down there.
21:53I think there's at least $100 in all this stuff right here.
21:56And then look, even two bug sprayers to top it off at another $20 a piece.
22:00That is $140 more on the successful venture...
22:03Nice.
22:04...of our silent stealing.
22:06I think so far we just proved that silence is golden.
22:11Silent but deadly, Lupe.
22:13I've learned...
22:16Like a fart.
22:23Can the Ivy Train make it to Profittown early?
22:26I think I can.
22:27Oh, that's an easy one.
22:30Table.
22:31It's a small one.
22:32Four-footer, but well used.
22:35Will get used more.
22:36$25.
22:37Another $25.
22:39Adds up to $50 already.
22:41Skateboarding.
22:41Excellent condition.
22:43Another $25.
22:44Whoo!
22:44This bad boy look good.
22:46Street machine.
22:48Whoo!
22:49Money!
22:50$100 bill, y'all.
22:52Ooh, some cameras.
22:54These are pretty cool.
22:54They use them in stores and stuff so you don't steal all their stuff.
22:58Wiring.
22:58This whole entire thing here.
23:00$50, including the cooler.
23:02Ooh!
23:02Get the cooler out of my face.
23:04Clothes, it looks to me.
23:06I hate clothes.
23:07They are never worth any money.
23:09Clothes all the way from bottom to top.
23:12No money.
23:12These sell like hotcakes in grandma's attic.
23:16$25.
23:16$25.
23:18And...
23:19Ooh!
23:19It's working.
23:21Older amplifier.
23:231100 watts.
23:24Sony.
23:24Good name brand.
23:25$25.
23:26Why are you opening?
23:28Ooh!
23:28That's kind of nifty.
23:29But how do we open up this side?
23:31Alrighty.
23:33Milwaukee, which is Ivy Little Ivy's brand, so I can take this back to them.
23:37All right, we got $40 right there.
23:39Wow.
23:41Loaded.
23:41Another $40 right there.
23:43In here, batteries.
23:45Big tools.
23:46Bigger tools.
23:48Oh, this is...
23:49That's good money there.
23:52$200.
23:53These shoes right here, if you see that, make sure you keep them.
23:57These shoes right here are $150 new.
23:59I'm going to get $50 in less than 24 hours.
24:02Look at that.
24:02Ooh!
24:04Freddie ain't got nothing on me!
24:07Jason.
24:07Oh, Jason?
24:10Woo!
24:11Baby!
24:12Jason ain't got nothing on me.
24:15Mmm.
24:15Wax in, wax off.
24:17$20.
24:18All right, what's in it?
24:19Bam!
24:21Junk Ola.
24:22Nothing great.
24:23More bag lights.
24:25More tools.
24:27All right, everything in here, $50.
24:29Most of the money is in the plain old case, because it's in great condition, and all four latches work.
24:34Oh, holy moly.
24:36Oh, this is okay.
24:37Oh!
24:38Probably rain protection plastic.
24:40This sells really good at the shop.
24:42$20.
24:42I don't know what this is, but it is kind of cool.
24:47Pressure washer.
24:49Walk around.
24:50Come here, ghost!
24:52And put them in a little train.
24:53I'm going to say it's got to be worth at least $40.
24:56Expensive boxes usually have, well, 50% of the time have expensive stuff in them.
25:01Boom!
25:02Well, that would have been more better if it opened.
25:04Boom!
25:05Well, oh.
25:06I guess it would help if I did the side.
25:08Again.
25:10Boom!
25:11Woo!
25:14Struck it un-rich.
25:16$15.
25:16I'll get more for the case.
25:18The case itself, $30.
25:20Oh!
25:21Only tools on the top and only tools on the bottom.
25:24All right.
25:24Nice, nice.
25:26Tools and container, $50.
25:29Oh!
25:30Wow!
25:31Right up my alley right here.
25:33That's what I do.
25:35This is a dart board.
25:38MD Sports, it says.
25:39So it goes sideways like this.
25:42I'm a dart player, so I know that.
25:46There we go.
25:47Very nice dart board.
25:48Nice case.
25:48Looks like it also lights up.
25:51Looks like it's camel hair, which is a little better.
25:54It sells a little more.
25:55I'll get a $50 bill on this.
25:56Easy.
25:57This reminds me, I got to meet up with my dart buddies.
25:59It's been a while.
26:01Well, I thought it was empty, but it's more.
26:02This is a dart case.
26:03I know what this is.
26:04Let's say, how many sets of darts?
26:07Three sets of darts.
26:08All righty.
26:11Got his flights back there.
26:13Little extra darts right here you can play around and goof off with.
26:15If you're going to have a dart board, you might as well have some darts to go with it.
26:18$20 right here.
26:20This locker really went off the rails here, but a dart board?
26:23That's a bullseye to me.
26:24Ooh, Mickey Mouse.
26:27Ooh, that thing was a bullseye.
26:31All right, Henry.
26:32Come on, let's get this done.
26:33I paid $1,950 for this.
26:34I've got to make some money here.
26:36I saw a lot of great stuff from the door of this unit.
26:38So I know there's going to be a lot of gems I didn't see.
26:42Just start grabbing some boxes and start lining them up so I can see what's in them.
26:46Come on down here.
26:48Nice stuff.
26:49Bosch tools.
26:50Bosch is expensive.
26:53More tools.
26:56Hardware.
26:57I must say there's $100 in that box.
27:00Copier.
27:01Is it for projection?
27:02Oh, projector.
27:03We got everything in there?
27:04All right.
27:06Shimano's expensive.
27:06So that whole box is going to be worth like $400.
27:09I'm going to say easy $500 for somebody to build out a computer.
27:14This is very cool.
27:15I like this.
27:15I think this is carbon fiber actually.
27:18Some of these can be worth up to like $1,000.
27:20I'm going to say an easy $500 on it.
27:25PlayStation 3.
27:28Another easy, easy $100 in this box.
27:32A lot of PS4 games.
27:35We got Wii's and PS4's.
27:37I'm going to say this is $600 in that box.
27:40Uh-oh.
27:41I see something in here that might be interesting in here.
27:45Gamer stuff.
27:48Another nice computer.
27:50So I'm going to say another $350 in there.
27:54All right.
27:54Now it's time to come inside.
27:57So we have wheels.
27:58What are these?
27:58Bicycle wheels?
28:00I don't know.
28:01I'm going to say $100 on the rims.
28:03These are rollerblades.
28:06Yeah.
28:07Rollerblades.
28:08Probably $100 easy.
28:11Callaway.
28:13Might be a few mixed.
28:14I'm going to say $100 on this.
28:16Kind of heavy-ass hanging.
28:19That's a speaker.
28:20Yeah.
28:20I don't know.
28:21$500, maybe?
28:23Audio documentation.
28:25$50 bill, Brando.
28:27Another speaker.
28:29Another $100 bill, Brando.
28:32A little equalizer.
28:34Integrated audio production studio.
28:37What do you think?
28:38$200, Brando.
28:40Ooh.
28:41I like it.
28:43I like it.
28:43Look at that, man.
28:44More electronics.
28:47More electronics.
28:47Electronics.
28:48I want to say $200 in there.
28:51This is what I was bidding on, was this jetpack bike.
29:01Empty.
29:01That's part of the storage business.
29:04So even though this bag is not full, the bag itself is still worth, I'm going to say,
29:10$400.
29:15Scuba jacket.
29:16Yeah, I'm with the jacket and fins and everything.
29:18I'm going to say like $300.
29:19Oh, man.
29:20Look at this.
29:21This is a...
29:22I know.
29:23Me and my brothers, we would have used these in the backyard trying to shoot each other in
29:26the ass with these.
29:28I'm going to say $200 here.
29:31Look this up.
29:32Oh, my God.
29:33There it is.
29:34Beautiful.
29:34This is your monitor.
29:36And the bottom piece is your sound bar.
29:38So I'm going to say, since it's used but in good condition, I'm going to say $700 for
29:44both.
29:45This is one of those new desks that raises and tilts.
29:49If used, you can get $200 on Craigslist for them all day long.
29:52I'm going to say about $300 for the weights.
29:56That just about does it.
29:58See?
29:59Montebello never fails me.
30:01Okay, Henry.
30:02You guys pack it up.
30:03I'm going to go take a break, okay?
30:05I'm going to go sit in the RV with the dogs and take a nap.
30:16There they are.
30:17I'm meeting up with some of my dart buddies today.
30:19I didn't know if y'all was going to show up.
30:21Yep.
30:21Well, yeah, we got to take your money.
30:23And Ed McCammack from Phoenix Darts is bringing his top of the line.
30:26Most high-tech dart machine for us to play with.
30:30So if I wanted to buy one of these, what'd it cost me?
30:33Well, we could probably go $12,500 on that.
30:36$12.50?
30:37How about $12,500?
30:39Woo!
30:39But it's way different than your grandpa's board in his garage.
30:42Yeah, that's way different than my grandpa's everything.
30:44For $12,000, they better let me hit bullseyes every time.
30:48We have several fun zones that I think you would like.
30:51Not just your standard 501 and cricket.
30:53But for you, I think we need to try a fishing game.
30:57You know how much I love fishing.
30:58It's not a complicated game.
30:59You guys are going to throw.
31:01The better you hit and the bigger fish you'll catch.
31:05That was not it.
31:07All right, now we got a fish on the line.
31:09Look at that little guppy.
31:10Sardines there for you.
31:11So now you're trying to hit the board when that red fish is in a get area.
31:15Otherwise, your line will break.
31:18Ow!
31:19And your line broke.
31:25Big ol' grouper.
31:28Got him!
31:29All right, let's see if you can reel it in, though.
31:30Look at that.
31:31Hey, want to take a picture, Nick?
31:35Uh-oh, you are in trouble now, Ivy.
31:41Another snap line.
31:43Oh, my God.
31:45All right.
31:47There he is.
31:48There's a big one.
31:49It don't even fit on the screen.
31:51And the winner of the big fish competition is not the fisherman.
31:54It ain't the fisherman.
31:56Congratulations, Nick.
31:56I value you, sir.
31:57You know what they say.
31:58A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at the auction.
32:02Got a deal for you.
32:03All right.
32:03I know you're not going to give me one.
32:04But if I hit a bulls, you got to loan me one for a year.
32:07We'll consider that a deal.
32:08All right.
32:18Oh!
32:20That was so close.
32:21That's the aim of the game.
32:23So close?
32:24So close.
32:24But I do appreciate you inviting us to play.
32:26Rematch next week.
32:27That's right.
32:28All right, Nick.
32:29Love you, brother.
32:29Let's do it.
32:34Best shoe cobbler in the land.
32:36Kumbaya.
32:37I'm taking my shoemaking tools to shoemaker Pasquale Fabrizio.
32:42Maybe I can step up into some profit.
32:45Pasquale!
32:46Ho-ho!
32:46What's up with you, boy?
32:48Hey, how you doing, man?
32:49I'm all right, brother.
32:50Long time no see you.
32:51Good to see you.
32:52Yes, sir.
32:53How's Barry doing?
32:54He doing all right.
32:54I was with him yesterday.
32:56But he told me to contact you about this here.
32:58I call it a Pinocchio set.
33:00But this here is a shoemaking stuff.
33:03I should tell Barry it's older than him.
33:07What are you talking about?
33:08What you have here, this is a horseshoe that we call a shoe.
33:12A horseshoe?
33:13Typically, what happens with these kind of things, because the cobbler will sit on a stoop.
33:18Mm-hmm.
33:18Small, low heel.
33:19That will sit between them because they work by hand.
33:23Yeah.
33:23And you said they're called a cobbler?
33:25Cobbler is somebody who does a refurbishing repair.
33:29Okay.
33:29So you're a cobbler.
33:30Yes.
33:31And a shoemaker.
33:32Oh, go on with your bad self.
33:33The two.
33:34And it's a cool piece.
33:35And you know, it's been around for at least 89 years.
33:37Because that leather is...
33:38Is dried up.
33:39It's toast.
33:41I got a treasure chest for you.
33:44Cool.
33:47Clubfoot.
33:50These are called lasts.
33:51This is what the shoe is made from.
33:53Uh-huh.
33:54And so what happens when you're mounting a shoe or building one?
33:57Uh-huh.
33:57All right.
33:58This gets cut to size and it gets nailed underneath.
34:01So once you have that and you pull it out, now you have the shape of the shoe.
34:05The mold.
34:06Yeah.
34:06This is the mold.
34:07But each one of these is specific and different to the shoe design.
34:11Okay.
34:12These are also very generic because the last has not been customized.
34:17Meaning it hasn't been made to a specific shot.
34:19So what you're looking at here, I would say this is probably going back to the mid-1930s.
34:26Yeah.
34:26That's history, dude.
34:27Yeah.
34:28What about these unique carving tools?
34:31These are all the same.
34:33All right.
34:33But they're not used for like certain designs or something?
34:37No.
34:37Skiving.
34:39Let me show you here.
34:41You see it?
34:42So when you take this.
34:44Oh, man.
34:45See that?
34:45So that's called skiving.
34:46Yeah.
34:47You see that?
34:47Yeah.
34:48Like somebody with bad acne.
34:52Or a terrible barber.
34:53Yeah.
34:54You don't want to get caught in his chair.
34:56But yeah, this is what skiving is.
34:58So you thin out the edge.
35:00Okay.
35:00Yeah.
35:00You know, there's just been a collection of blades over a period of time.
35:05Worn out knives.
35:06Worn out knives.
35:07That's it.
35:07And they're all the same application.
35:09Let me see what else you got in here.
35:11Oh.
35:11Let me see.
35:12Somebody buried stuff under here.
35:14Oh, look at that.
35:15Okay.
35:17Okay.
35:18These are our tools.
35:19They look kind of new, huh?
35:20Yeah.
35:20These are very, very recent.
35:22Very traditional stuff that we work in all day.
35:25Mallet.
35:26Beaded ass.
35:27Yeah.
35:29Also to apply the adhesives.
35:31Mm-hmm.
35:32We got some iron boots.
35:35There they are.
35:35So here they go.
35:36This here goes on the scurvy, right?
35:40There.
35:41There's something.
35:41So it goes like this.
35:44And you still use it to this day?
35:46Well, yeah.
35:46Well, you need different applications for different shoes.
35:49Yeah, because everybody's feet ain't the same size.
35:51It's a lot of work, bro.
35:53Oh.
35:53You know how many tradesmen it takes to make a pair of shoes?
35:57Three?
35:59Two hundred and fifty plus.
36:01One pair of shoes?
36:02One pair.
36:03It goes through so many steps and so many people that are exposed to it.
36:08Mm-hmm.
36:08To me, it's mind-blowing.
36:10Wow.
36:10And I still look at a shoe going, how can you still put a shoe together for that price,
36:14even if it's a thousand dollars?
36:16Let's get to the nitty gritties.
36:18How much you think this whole collection is worth?
36:21I would say, listen, a lot of this, you know, is memorabilia.
36:28Mm-hmm.
36:28What makes it interesting to me is even this cobbler, he made his own toolkit.
36:33Good.
36:33He made all of the stuff, so he made it by hand.
36:36All of the stuff really represents the tradesmen.
36:39Mm-hmm.
36:39And I like the beauty of him putting it all together.
36:42Yeah.
36:42The value, I think, is, is, for me, I would say all of the stuff, I would go in about
36:50$900.
36:54Making money out of this unit was a real feat, but I did it.
37:01That's something I learned.
37:02I didn't, I thought it was just called a shoemaker, but now they got a professional name at the
37:07cobbler.
37:08It's always been a cobbler.
37:09It's always been a cobbler.
37:10That could be a scary movie, bruh.
37:12The cobbler.
37:13The cobbler.
37:18Hey, man, I'm Dusty.
37:19Hey, Dusty, how are you?
37:20Good.
37:21I'm Lupe.
37:22This place is so neat.
37:24It's an adult toy store, in a way.
37:25Lupe and I are taking this speaker to Jason Lord, AKA Mr. Hi-Fi, to see if we can amp
37:31up some profit.
37:33Here's our beautifully Montebello-found items.
37:38So, there was a store out in Montebello way back in the day that did a lot of horn-type
37:43speakers, which is the category of speaker this is.
37:46So, this is an interesting company.
37:47This is the Athena Phoenix.
37:49This company started around 1998.
37:52It's a Taiwanese company, but mostly sold in Asia and a great deal in Europe.
37:57This is actually a metal horn, which is something that's very unique.
38:01Most of the time, they're either made from wood or they're made from some kind of composite.
38:06The crossover into the tweeter is really loose, so it might not be working right now.
38:12But it's nicely made, and we can't say the Taiwanese can't make good stuff.
38:16What is a tweeter?
38:18So, a tweeter is a high-frequency component.
38:21So, the higher section things are like, you know, like hi-hats on a drum or the upper
38:27end of most musical instruments like horns, things like that.
38:30People that typically buy this kind of speaker were people that mostly listen to classical or
38:36older jazz.
38:37I can't imagine too many people listening to Grand Funk Railroad or, you know, Alice
38:45and Shane's or anything like that.
38:47So, let's take a look at the base driver down here.
38:51Wow.
38:51So, what we have here is a 12-inch driver with a butyl surround.
38:54Now, it does have a technique here.
38:57If you notice the surfacing, this is a tar that they put on the front.
39:01And what that does is create more weight and rigidity to the driver so it can handle more
39:05bass.
39:06What is a driver?
39:07The driver is actually the component that actually makes the sound.
39:11So, there's a driver in here, there's a driver here, and then that's a bass driver.
39:15Oh, wow.
39:15Lots of drivers.
39:16Lots of drivers.
39:17Just a pair of these would have cost around $40,000.
39:20Wow.
39:20If this doesn't work, it's really probably not worth much.
39:25If it's operational and somebody has a matching unit for it, it could be worth quite a bit.
39:29Where's the other one?
39:31Well, unfortunately, I was hoping it was hiding under a blanket in the back corner of the
39:35room, but...
39:36It wasn't.
39:37There was lots of blankets, but it wasn't hiding.
39:39Instead, it was a bicycle frame with no wheels.
39:41There you go.
39:41And here we go.
39:42Well, we'll have to see how this one performs.
39:45No.
39:45All right.
39:45Well, let's check it out.
39:46Let's hook this thing up and see what we got.
39:49Nice and solid.
39:50I'm gonna hook up.
39:52And I think...
39:53Wow.
39:54...we can just hit play and we can go.
39:56You ready?
39:56I'm excited.
39:57Yeah, it looks like you're ready to launch a space shuttle with all that.
40:05Okay, so we have sound coming out of the bass driver.
40:09Wow.
40:09We're missing the high.
40:10Yeah.
40:11No.
40:13Our tweeter is not tweeting.
40:15There is no sound coming out of the high-frequency driver or the midge driver.
40:19So, it looks like we only have a connection to the bottom speaker, which is the woofer.
40:23So, there's something really particularly wrong with it.
40:27Aww.
40:28Sounds muffled.
40:30I feel my money dying.
40:32Aww.
40:33I mean, is there any value left in this thing?
40:38So, let's assume that this driver was working and this driver was working.
40:44Because there's no pair, you're really looking at somebody who's either just going to use it for ornamentation or you're
40:52looking at the possibility of selling the individual components.
40:56Okay.
40:58If you did that, you know, you're probably talking about 400 bucks is what you have in value.
41:09Hauling the speaker down here was more treble than it was worth.
41:12I hear that.
41:14Not exactly music to my ears.
41:16Uh, the way it performs right now, it's not exactly music to anyone's ears.
41:20Aww.
41:21I will agree.
41:23Dave Hester went large in Montebello and cashed in with 4,000 big ones.
41:30Dusty and Lupe were on the down low, but their profit was up high.
41:36Kenny Crosley counted an extra 450 bucks while Ivy Calvin chugged his way out of the red with just $175.
41:49I'm a professional cusser.
41:51It's an art form for me.
41:53I be cussing when I don't even know I'm cussing, you know?
41:56Oh yeah, we know.
41:56Do it.
41:58Sorry.
41:59My thing is, who the said that the was a bad word?
42:06Tell me that .
42:09Who the said that ?
42:11I honestly think it's something that the luminarchy trying to keep away from it,
42:15because once you really express how you really feel, that's less stress in your body.
42:20So I want everybody out there to try it one time.
42:22Now stay with me, America.
42:24Oh, you.
