00:00:27Evil is out there.
00:00:28I use my charm.
00:00:30I use my good looks.
00:00:32Evil walks among us.
00:00:35I just sent you a few.
00:00:36I'm in front of mine.
00:00:38I'm like, you're the prey.
00:00:39I thought I was going to die 100%.
00:00:42There's just a ray of thought.
00:00:43Murder, murder.
00:00:44Just kill, kill, kill.
00:00:46I was begging her to leave him.
00:00:48Like, please get away from this man.
00:00:50He's going to kill you.
00:00:52We realized that we had a really evil monster on our hands.
00:01:18In 2018, I was 26 years old.
00:01:23and living in my first apartment by myself
00:01:27with my two dogs and my two cats
00:01:31a couple miles up the road from my parents
00:01:33so I was still close enough that I felt like I was safe
00:01:37but I was on my own finally
00:01:43I've always loved working with animals
00:01:46when I was 19 years old I started working at a zoo
00:01:51and I used to train tigers
00:01:53work with venomous snakes
00:01:56and I wrestled alligators for two years
00:02:00then I took a break from the dangerous stuff
00:02:02and got into dog grooming
00:02:06my dating life was not the best
00:02:12I have always been like a shy person
00:02:16so I don't go out and meet people
00:02:19but then I did try online dating
00:02:24I scrolled past this guy whose name was Steven
00:02:28and he was six foot five
00:02:30and had dimples
00:02:31and super handsome
00:02:34and I was like
00:02:35oh this is obviously a catfish
00:02:37but I swiped on him
00:02:39and he replied and messaged me back
00:02:42and we agreed to go out
00:02:45he met up with me
00:02:47he was really him
00:02:48he was a real person
00:02:49six foot five
00:02:50super handsome
00:02:51nice teeth
00:02:51and I was like holy crap
00:02:53I found like the perfect man
00:02:56we hit it off like right away
00:02:58and at the end of the night
00:02:59he asked me if he could kiss me
00:03:02and I was like what is this
00:03:04this is like fairy tale stuff
00:03:08so that's where it all started
00:03:10and we just were like inseparable
00:03:15Steven was a personal trainer
00:03:18he told me that he was from North Florida
00:03:20and he was adopted
00:03:21and given to these two awesome people
00:03:25through their church
00:03:27they were nice well off people
00:03:30and he had told me that he had been in contact
00:03:32with his dad
00:03:33his biological dad
00:03:35and he seemed happy about that
00:03:39when my parents first met Steven
00:03:42they did really like him
00:03:43they thought he was super sweet
00:03:45and seemed to have a nice head on his shoulders
00:03:50and my animals really liked him
00:03:51which was a huge deal for me
00:04:00don't take the whole thing
00:04:04a couple weeks into dating
00:04:07he asked if I wanted to be his girlfriend
00:04:10and of course I said yes
00:04:14at the time
00:04:15Steven had been complaining about his roommate
00:04:19I trusted him and felt something for him
00:04:22so I let him move in with me
00:04:23pretty quickly
00:04:24like within the first month
00:04:26he didn't have a car
00:04:27he would borrow my car a lot
00:04:28and I only lived a couple miles
00:04:31from the park that he would go to
00:04:33so he would go
00:04:34and do personal training
00:04:37I believe it was
00:04:40like late September
00:04:41early October
00:04:42that we started officially dating
00:04:44I was super happy
00:04:46I thought
00:04:47this is it
00:04:48this is
00:04:48I'm going to marry this guy
00:05:00in 2018
00:05:02Wade and I matched
00:05:04on Plenty of Fish
00:05:05around the end of September
00:05:07the beginning of October
00:05:11I was 26 years old
00:05:14and I just moved to Loxahatchee
00:05:20when I first saw Wade
00:05:22I was like
00:05:23wow
00:05:23he's really
00:05:24attractive
00:05:26really good looking
00:05:27really tall
00:05:28and he had a nice voice
00:05:33he kept mentioning
00:05:35let's go to the park
00:05:37so we met up
00:05:39and we just sat there
00:05:41and talked
00:05:42there was a lot of joking
00:05:44a lot of laughing
00:05:47just like
00:05:47we had known each other
00:05:48for a while
00:05:51Wade said that
00:05:52he was looking
00:05:53for a relationship
00:05:54and
00:05:54that his only flaw
00:05:56was that he didn't have
00:05:57a good woman
00:05:57in his life
00:05:59I was just
00:06:00like
00:06:01it's too good
00:06:02to be true
00:06:06Wade and I
00:06:07were dating
00:06:08at this point
00:06:09and
00:06:09we were on the phone
00:06:11all the time
00:06:13texting
00:06:14calling
00:06:15sending pictures
00:06:16to each other
00:06:17back and forth
00:06:18but
00:06:19I worked a lot
00:06:20so
00:06:21Wade and I
00:06:21didn't really get to see
00:06:23each other
00:06:23in the beginning
00:06:24as much
00:06:24but
00:06:26I was just
00:06:27like
00:06:28over the moon
00:06:29ecstatic
00:06:30that I had
00:06:31found someone
00:06:39living
00:06:40with Stephen
00:06:41was great
00:06:42you know
00:06:43he would cook
00:06:44and
00:06:44he took care
00:06:46of me a lot
00:06:47but
00:06:48the first
00:06:49big red flag
00:06:50that I had
00:06:50with him
00:06:51was
00:06:52one day
00:06:53I came home
00:06:53from work
00:06:53and I was
00:06:54looking for my
00:06:55laptop
00:06:55to edit
00:06:55some photos
00:06:57and I couldn't
00:06:58find it
00:06:59and I looked
00:07:00everywhere
00:07:00and Stephen
00:07:02was like
00:07:02I don't know
00:07:03I haven't seen it
00:07:06I couldn't
00:07:06find it anywhere
00:07:08and then
00:07:09finally
00:07:10Stephen admitted
00:07:11that he
00:07:12pawned my laptop
00:07:13because he needed
00:07:14money
00:07:16I was just
00:07:17so mad
00:07:18that I called
00:07:18the police
00:07:19and I filed
00:07:19a police report
00:07:22the police
00:07:23did
00:07:24a search
00:07:24for all the
00:07:25pawn shops
00:07:26in the county
00:07:26they found
00:07:28my laptop
00:07:29literally
00:07:30two miles
00:07:30up the road
00:07:32and they
00:07:32went there
00:07:33and they
00:07:33verified
00:07:33that it
00:07:34was Stephen
00:07:34that dropped
00:07:35it off
00:07:37that's when
00:07:38I found out
00:07:38that his
00:07:38name was
00:07:39Wade
00:07:40because he
00:07:41used his
00:07:41ID to
00:07:42pawn it
00:07:42and I
00:07:43found out
00:07:43that Stephen
00:07:43was his
00:07:44middle name
00:07:44so that
00:07:45was a big
00:07:46shock to
00:07:46me
00:07:47because
00:07:47you know
00:07:48this whole
00:07:48time
00:07:48I thought
00:07:49his name
00:07:49was Stephen
00:07:51and I
00:07:52asked him
00:07:52about why
00:07:53he was
00:07:53going by
00:07:54Stephen
00:07:54why
00:07:55his
00:07:56dating
00:07:57profile
00:07:57said Stephen
00:07:58I actually
00:07:58found that
00:07:59he had
00:07:59several
00:07:59Facebook
00:08:00profiles
00:08:00with that
00:08:01name as
00:08:01well
00:08:01and he
00:08:02just said
00:08:03that he
00:08:04needed
00:08:05like an
00:08:06escape
00:08:06because he
00:08:07had some
00:08:07exes and
00:08:08stuff that
00:08:09knew his
00:08:09real name
00:08:10and he
00:08:10didn't want
00:08:10them to
00:08:11find him
00:08:13he was
00:08:14very good
00:08:14at laying
00:08:15it on
00:08:15thick
00:08:16like when
00:08:17you have a
00:08:18six foot
00:08:18five man
00:08:19crying to
00:08:20you that
00:08:20he's so
00:08:21sorry
00:08:21and he
00:08:22just needed
00:08:22the money
00:08:24your heart
00:08:24kind of
00:08:25breaks
00:08:25and you're
00:08:26like okay
00:08:26I understand
00:08:27it's like a
00:08:28one time
00:08:28thing
00:08:29it's not
00:08:29going to
00:08:29happen
00:08:29again
00:08:30you know
00:08:31this was
00:08:31one of my
00:08:32first more
00:08:33serious
00:08:33relationships
00:08:34so I
00:08:34hadn't
00:08:35really
00:08:35figured out
00:08:36how a
00:08:37real
00:08:37relationship
00:08:38should
00:08:38work
00:08:40and
00:08:41we had
00:08:41only been
00:08:42together for
00:08:42a couple
00:08:42months
00:08:43so you
00:08:44know when
00:08:44he apologized
00:08:45and he
00:08:45said he
00:08:46wouldn't do
00:08:46it again
00:08:46I believed
00:08:47him
00:08:51in November
00:08:52on Wade's
00:08:54Instagram
00:08:54I saw
00:08:55a person
00:08:56named
00:08:56pinup
00:08:57princess
00:08:58commenting
00:08:59all over
00:09:00his posts
00:09:02so I
00:09:03was you
00:09:04know asking
00:09:05him who's
00:09:06this girl
00:09:06why is she
00:09:07telling you to
00:09:08call her
00:09:09and I found
00:09:10out that
00:09:10pinup princess
00:09:11was Kelly
00:09:12and also
00:09:13the girl
00:09:14that was
00:09:15in his phone
00:09:16under K
00:09:18and he
00:09:19told me
00:09:19oh that's
00:09:20just my
00:09:20roommate
00:09:22and at
00:09:23that time
00:09:24I was just
00:09:24like okay
00:09:25and I
00:09:26believe that
00:09:31I had a
00:09:32friend that
00:09:33had broken
00:09:33up with her
00:09:33boyfriend and
00:09:34she needed to
00:09:35move in with
00:09:36someone temporarily
00:09:37so I let her
00:09:37come crash
00:09:38with me
00:09:39one day
00:09:40we were all
00:09:41sitting around
00:09:41talking about
00:09:42mastiffs and
00:09:43I was like I
00:09:44know this guy
00:09:45who breeds
00:09:46this rare breed
00:09:47of mastiff
00:09:47called a
00:09:48pressa canario
00:09:48and they had
00:09:50some puppies
00:09:52I didn't know
00:09:53that he was
00:09:53taking that
00:09:54and running
00:09:54with it
00:09:55and my
00:09:56friend
00:09:56was only
00:09:5818 so
00:09:58I think
00:09:59that she got
00:10:01sucked into
00:10:01Wade's
00:10:02charisma
00:10:05I went to
00:10:06work
00:10:07and Wade
00:10:08and my
00:10:08friend
00:10:08apparently
00:10:09they went
00:10:10to the
00:10:11kennel
00:10:11and had
00:10:12stolen
00:10:13I believe
00:10:14three or
00:10:14four puppies
00:10:16and brought
00:10:17them back
00:10:17to my
00:10:18house
00:10:18I got
00:10:21home from
00:10:21work
00:10:22and I was
00:10:22like why
00:10:23are there
00:10:23these dogs
00:10:23in my
00:10:24house
00:10:25there's gonna
00:10:26be people
00:10:26looking for
00:10:27these dogs
00:10:27I was
00:10:27freaking out
00:10:30Wade didn't
00:10:31care
00:10:31he said
00:10:33we need to
00:10:33sell these
00:10:34dogs
00:10:35so he
00:10:36and my
00:10:36friend
00:10:36took pictures
00:10:37of them
00:10:37in front
00:10:38of my
00:10:38couch
00:10:40and posted
00:10:40them on
00:10:41Craigslist
00:10:43the man
00:10:44that owned
00:10:44the dogs
00:10:45recognized
00:10:46my house
00:10:46and called
00:10:47the police
00:10:53so I get
00:10:53a phone call
00:10:54from Wade
00:10:54and he says
00:10:55I need you
00:10:56to three-way
00:10:56the detective
00:10:57and tell him
00:10:58that it was
00:10:58you
00:10:58and if you
00:10:59don't
00:11:00I'm going
00:11:01to kill
00:11:01your dogs
00:11:04it was
00:11:05like totally
00:11:05out of left
00:11:06field
00:11:06I was
00:11:06like who
00:11:07are you
00:11:08like what
00:11:08is happening
00:11:08right now
00:11:10I wasn't
00:11:11100% sure
00:11:11if he would
00:11:12actually go
00:11:13through or
00:11:13something like
00:11:13that but I
00:11:14was so afraid
00:11:15for my own
00:11:15animals
00:11:16that I
00:11:17didn't want
00:11:17to risk it
00:11:18and he was
00:11:19home alone
00:11:19with my
00:11:19dogs
00:11:20and I
00:11:20was at
00:11:21work
00:11:22so I
00:11:22called
00:11:23the cops
00:11:24they told
00:11:25me to walk
00:11:25them through
00:11:25everything
00:11:26how I
00:11:26stole the
00:11:27puppies
00:11:27what the
00:11:28place looked
00:11:28like
00:11:29and I
00:11:30did
00:11:31they told
00:11:32me I

00:11:33in
00:11:33the next
00:11:34day
00:11:36I
00:11:37confronted
00:11:37Wade
00:11:37when I
00:11:38got home
00:11:39thankfully
00:11:40he didn't
00:11:41do anything
00:11:42to my
00:11:43dogs
00:11:44and he
00:11:45was like
00:11:45I have
00:11:46a criminal
00:11:46record
00:11:46and you
00:11:47don't
00:11:47so it's
00:11:48better for
00:11:48you to be
00:11:48on probation
00:11:49not me
00:11:51he said
00:11:51that he
00:11:52had just
00:11:52gone to

00:22:04on the
00:22:04light
00:22:04and saw
00:22:04my face
00:22:05and we
00:22:05called
00:22:05the police
00:22:07the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office
00:22:09was in charge of the investigation
00:22:11and Detective Potter was put on the case against Wade
00:22:21my name is detective Potter I'm with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office
00:22:24the special victims unit one time in the car you said that's when he assaulted
00:22:30you what do you mean by assaulting you um he had sex with me without my consent
00:22:36explain that to me help me understand what you mean pulled my pants down and stuck it in without my
00:22:44consent to his penis right before he tied me up okay did he use a condom no did he say
00:22:52anything no okay and then he hit me in the face and he bit my cheek and he bit my
00:23:01ear
00:23:03did you feel like he was going to kill you did he mention it um do you think he has
00:23:07the
00:23:07ability to kill you yeah when he choked me it felt like he was going to kill me
00:23:12and he just kept threatening to
00:23:14stab me 30 times and throw me in a ditch so I thought he was going to do it
00:23:20when I went to the police I thought
00:23:22that
00:23:24I was
00:23:26doing the best thing
00:23:27and that I was going to get justice for what had happened to me
00:23:31I was happy to give them all this information and DNA and everything else
00:23:57cool
00:24:00all right brother
00:24:01all right yes sir
00:24:06have any police officials involved in this case
00:24:08coerced threatened or otherwise forced you to get me a statement
00:24:11no sir absolutely not
00:24:12are you making a statement of your own free will
00:24:14absolutely yes sir
00:24:15okay all right now
00:24:17but you know why you're here
00:24:18I do know why you're a suspect in the case
00:24:20sure
00:24:20because she had called and said you did some ugly thing
00:24:22I understand
00:24:23she's my victim
00:24:25I'm working for her
00:24:26you got to realize that
00:24:27um but I do have to give you the option to tell me
00:24:32hey I didn't kidnap I didn't rape and I didn't assault that woman
00:24:36yeah
00:24:36and I have to believe you
00:24:38yeah
00:24:39thank you
00:24:39see what I'm saying
00:24:40yeah
00:24:40um so with that said
00:24:43did you kidnap or did you take it to the keys to Key Largo against her will
00:24:49listen and let me just tell you to take the product like I need to say this like there's
00:24:52I've caused her no harm
00:24:54physically nothing dude
00:24:55I haven't done nothing
00:24:57ever in my ever since I've known her
00:25:00that's all I need to hear
00:25:01um you know that and I don't have
00:25:03you know what I'm saying
00:25:03she said he beats me
00:25:05he does this
00:25:05he does that
00:25:06you know
00:25:06and I'm like well
00:25:07I just don't know
00:25:08yeah
00:25:09I'm not doubting you man
00:25:11you're doing great
00:25:11I don't
00:25:12no you're doing great
00:25:13and you're a smart man
00:25:14you know
00:25:15you're on the right track
00:25:16but you know why we're here
00:25:19she wants this to go quick
00:25:21because this is an ulterior motive
00:25:23which sucks because she is my victim
00:25:25so I got to give her 100% of my abilities
00:25:28but I ain't putting the wrong man in jail
00:25:30I'll be damned if I do that
00:25:32that's all I want dude
00:25:34like I just want her to stop man
00:25:35please
00:25:36like that's all I need
00:25:37that'll never happen from this department
00:25:39so much
00:25:39like honestly thank you
00:25:40like
00:25:40none of our people are going to do that
00:25:42yeah thank you so much dude
00:25:47I did find out that eventually
00:25:48he did get a swab from Wade for DNA
00:25:51both sides get it good
00:25:52I mean
00:25:53both sides a few seconds okay
00:25:56and he asked if he would do
00:25:59a lie detector test
00:26:01Wade declined
00:26:03um
00:26:05and for whatever reason
00:26:06the detective was like
00:26:08okay that's fine
00:26:08if you know anybody
00:26:09that needs a personal trainer
00:26:10I'm a great one
00:26:13all right thank you
00:26:17he closed the case
00:26:19without getting the DNA back
00:26:21and just said
00:26:22I have no proof
00:26:25and
00:26:26this is just like a
00:26:27he said she said type of thing
00:26:29there was no witnesses
00:26:31I begged
00:26:32for him to not close the case
00:26:35and I was like
00:26:36you're a detective
00:26:36you're supposed to be protecting me
00:26:39from a young age
00:26:40you're taught to go to police
00:26:41when you need help
00:26:42and I did that
00:26:44and nothing was done
00:26:46I was failed as a victim
00:26:48and a sexual assault victim
00:26:58living in my sister's house
00:27:00it was going pretty good
00:27:02but like a week or so later
00:27:05my sister and I got into an argument
00:27:07and she told me that I had to leave
00:27:10and obviously Wade had to go with me
00:27:14but where I was going
00:27:16Wade couldn't go with me
00:27:19Wade told me he had a friend
00:27:22that he was going to go with
00:27:26after I moved
00:27:27we talked on the phone
00:27:29and we were messaging
00:27:30and everything
00:27:31and then
00:27:32I couldn't get a hold of him
00:27:34the phone was off
00:27:36the messages weren't going through
00:27:39and I just realized
00:27:40that he ghosted me
00:27:48one of my
00:27:49long time zoo friends
00:27:51had reached out to me
00:27:52and said that
00:27:53one of her friends
00:27:53was dating Wade
00:27:55and then she told me
00:27:56that it was a guy
00:27:58and I was like
00:27:59wait what
00:28:06I was in Inverness
00:28:08Florida working
00:28:09on a carnival
00:28:10when I first noticed
00:28:12a hot guy working
00:28:14at a pizza stand
00:28:27in 2019
00:28:28I was living in
00:28:30an RV
00:28:31traveling
00:28:33on a carnival
00:28:35I was working
00:28:36on a bungee jump
00:28:37at the carnival
00:28:39I saw this new guy
00:28:41that I'd never
00:28:42recognized before
00:28:43and I was like
00:28:44wow he's pretty good looking
00:28:46I just told my friend
00:28:47I was like
00:28:48I think that I'm
00:28:49going to give him
00:28:49my number
00:28:50so
00:28:51I wrote my number
00:28:53on a napkin
00:28:53and just left it there
00:28:54at the stand
00:28:55that he worked in
00:28:58and a couple days
00:28:59went by
00:29:00and I felt someone
00:29:01tap on my shoulder
00:29:02he just said
00:29:03I'm Wade
00:29:04and da da da da da
00:29:05and I was like
00:29:06okay cool
00:29:07I'm Christopher
00:29:09he's like
00:29:10I need that number
00:29:11again
00:29:11and I was like
00:29:11oh okay
00:29:12so
00:29:14and I just put it
00:29:15in his phone
00:29:19that night
00:29:20he messaged me
00:29:22and he's like
00:29:23so I just got in a fight
00:29:25with the girl
00:29:26that I'm with
00:29:27and she kicked me out
00:29:28and he's like
00:29:29I have nowhere to go
00:29:30I was just like
00:29:31yeah I have a couch
00:29:32I mean you can
00:29:33sleep on the couch
00:29:34or whatever
00:29:35and he's like
00:29:35well I don't want
00:29:36to sleep on the couch
00:29:37I'm like
00:29:38well you can sleep
00:29:38wherever you want
00:29:39I don't care
00:29:41I met Wade
00:29:42on like a Tuesday
00:29:43or Wednesday
00:29:44and then like
00:29:45maybe
00:29:47that following
00:29:48Sunday night
00:29:49Wade moved
00:29:50into my RV
00:29:55Wade said
00:29:55that he was straight
00:29:56when I met him
00:29:57but I was like
00:29:58it just seems
00:29:58a little sketchy
00:29:59like if you're straight
00:30:00you don't move
00:30:01into a guy's house
00:30:02with a guy
00:30:02and then want
00:30:03to sleep in his bed
00:30:06maybe like
00:30:07a week had went by
00:30:08and then we ended
00:30:09up going out
00:30:12and had some drinks
00:30:15and then I was
00:30:16feeling pretty good
00:30:16so then I think
00:30:17that was the first time
00:30:20usually after the first time
00:30:22like you sleep together
00:30:24either it goes well
00:30:25or it you never hear
00:30:27from that person again
00:30:28like that's just
00:30:29how it goes
00:30:29but then he still
00:30:31was living with me
00:30:32so
00:30:38two weeks after
00:30:39he'd moved in
00:30:41he had asked
00:30:42if I wanted to make
00:30:43it Facebook official
00:30:46I was very surprised
00:30:47because he was so
00:30:49skeptical about
00:30:50being with a guy
00:30:52and this was my first
00:30:54relationship with a guy
00:30:57we enjoyed being
00:30:58together
00:30:58we did a lot of
00:30:59stuff together
00:30:59we had fun
00:31:01and then after
00:31:02that was our last
00:31:03fair
00:31:05I was like
00:31:05well I'm gonna go home
00:31:07to my mom's house
00:31:07for a little bit
00:31:08and just park my trailer
00:31:10there so I can spend
00:31:11a little time with her
00:31:11before I figure out
00:31:13what I'm gonna do
00:31:14so we ended up
00:31:16doing that
00:31:18one night
00:31:19me, Wade, my mom
00:31:20and a few friends
00:31:21went out to a bar
00:31:22and they thought
00:31:24he was hot
00:31:25I mean obviously
00:31:26and they thought
00:31:27he was cool
00:31:28because he's a good
00:31:29smooth talker
00:31:29you know
00:31:33one night
00:31:34Wade was just like
00:31:35oh we should
00:31:35get some drugs
00:31:36then like have fun
00:31:38we just chill
00:31:38at the house
00:31:39and like
00:31:40and I was like
00:31:40okay cool
00:31:41I'll call up
00:31:41this dude
00:31:42that I used to know
00:31:44and this guy
00:31:45like I don't know
00:31:46what he gave us
00:31:47like ended up
00:31:48giving us like
00:31:49bath salts
00:31:49or something
00:31:52in the middle
00:31:53of the night
00:31:53Wade is flipping out
00:31:55and he's just like
00:31:56oh my god
00:31:57somebody's trying
00:31:57to break in the house
00:31:58someone's trying
00:31:58to break in the house
00:31:59I'm like
00:32:00nobody's trying
00:32:00to break in the house
00:32:01go to bed
00:32:02so then like
00:32:03a few hours later
00:32:05he ends up
00:32:05waking me up again
00:32:06well this time
00:32:07he's like standing
00:32:08over my bed
00:32:09with a knife
00:32:11Wade said
00:32:12if somebody breaks
00:32:13in the house
00:32:13I'm going to slit
00:32:14your throat
00:32:15before I slit theirs
00:32:16and I was like
00:32:17that pissed me off
00:32:18so then I ended up
00:32:19like getting up
00:32:19out of bed
00:32:20and like we got
00:32:20in a fight
00:32:24I pushed him
00:32:24and got crazy
00:32:25while he had a knife
00:32:26in his hand
00:32:27and so then
00:32:27he ended up
00:32:28like cutting my chest
00:32:29and he cut my hand
00:32:30for like four hours
00:32:32he wouldn't let me
00:32:32get up
00:32:33and I would try
00:32:34to get up
00:32:34and then he like
00:32:35literally was choking
00:32:36me
00:32:36it was crazy
00:32:38I had like
00:32:39these sliding glass
00:32:40doors in my RV
00:32:41like that covered
00:32:42my closet
00:32:42and he ended up
00:32:43like throwing me
00:32:44through there
00:32:45and then it broke
00:32:46the glass
00:32:47so then that ended
00:32:48up cutting me more
00:32:49now I'm like
00:32:50really bleeding
00:32:51and I was like
00:32:52oh my gosh
00:32:55then he ran
00:32:56out of the house
00:32:57so as soon as he
00:32:58like left
00:32:59I like locked
00:33:00my door
00:33:02my heart was beating
00:33:03so fast
00:33:04it was like forever
00:33:07after he stabbed me
00:33:09I didn't call the police
00:33:11unless someone's dead
00:33:12there's no reason
00:33:13to call the cops
00:33:15I ended up taking
00:33:17an Advil PM
00:33:18and I got under
00:33:19my kitchen table
00:33:19and I just slept
00:33:20under there
00:33:30I wake up
00:33:31like the next day
00:33:32to my sister
00:33:33like banging
00:33:34on my door
00:33:36Wade had ended up
00:33:37getting a hold
00:33:38of my sister
00:33:41my sister
00:33:41calmed the situation
00:33:43down and like
00:33:44he showed back up
00:33:45with blood all over him
00:33:47and apologized
00:33:49he seemed sincere
00:33:51and he sounded like
00:33:53he was sorry
00:33:54so
00:33:55I said after that
00:33:56if you're with me
00:33:58like there's no more
00:33:59drinking
00:33:59no more smoking
00:34:00like you're not even
00:34:01smoking cigarettes
00:34:02I don't care
00:34:10Wade had found
00:34:11this job on Indeed
00:34:12that sounded
00:34:13different and more
00:34:15interesting than
00:34:15what I had going on
00:34:19and then we moved
00:34:20to Key West
00:34:20like two days later
00:34:22he had lived
00:34:23down there prior
00:34:24so he seemed
00:34:25to have like
00:34:26a little familiarity
00:34:27with it
00:34:27but I didn't
00:34:29I would say
00:34:29maybe two weeks
00:34:30after we had
00:34:31arrived in the Keys
00:34:32I found out
00:34:34that Wade was like
00:34:35going around
00:34:35and telling people
00:34:36that we were cousins
00:34:39and I felt like
00:34:40Wade was embarrassed
00:34:42about our relationship
00:34:44and I didn't want
00:34:44to be in a relationship
00:34:46where I had to hide anything
00:34:50so I kicked him out
00:34:52then I just packed up
00:34:54and left
00:34:57I found out that Wade
00:34:59had been dating Chris
00:35:02and I wanted to reach out
00:35:04and warn Chris
00:35:05about everything
00:35:07he had told me
00:35:08that he had kicked
00:35:10Wade out recently
00:35:11and he had attempted
00:35:12to stab him
00:35:14he told me everything
00:35:15about how things
00:35:17had gone great
00:35:17in the beginning
00:35:18and then just went
00:35:19way south
00:35:20very fast
00:35:21just like with mine
00:35:23after that
00:35:25I started reaching out
00:35:26to all the people
00:35:26I could find
00:35:27that had dated Wade
00:35:30and that he had
00:35:31hurt
00:35:32and I started
00:35:34telling my story
00:35:34on Instagram
00:35:35and TikTok
00:35:36so this is my lip
00:35:37he busted my lip open
00:35:39these are the ligature marks
00:35:41on my hands
00:35:42this is the marks
00:35:44from being strangled
00:35:46posting videos
00:35:48about Wade
00:35:49and what he did
00:35:50to me
00:35:50and
00:35:51that other women
00:35:53and men
00:35:53should not hide
00:35:56and they should tell
00:35:57their story
00:35:58and if anyone
00:35:59ever needed
00:35:59someone to talk to
00:36:00they could message me
00:36:04Wade's biological father
00:36:05reached out to me
00:36:07I had no idea
00:36:08who he was
00:36:10he told me
00:36:11don't go back to him
00:36:13he's done this before
00:36:15and hearing that
00:36:16from his father
00:36:19really solidified
00:36:20that I
00:36:22cannot ever
00:36:23go back to this man
00:36:24which is part of
00:36:25the reason why
00:36:25I was so adamant
00:36:26about helping other people
00:36:27to stay away from him
00:36:37several months after
00:36:38I started posting
00:36:40on social media
00:36:41I got a message
00:36:42on Instagram
00:36:43from somebody
00:36:44saying that his friend
00:36:45Mila had started
00:36:46dating Wade
00:36:47and they needed help
00:36:49to get her away
00:36:50from him
00:36:51because he was
00:36:52already abusing her
00:36:57they sent me
00:36:58pictures of her
00:36:59covered in bruises
00:37:00like way worse
00:37:01than I was
00:37:03so they gave me
00:37:04her information
00:37:04and I reached out
00:37:05to her
00:37:06and she told me
00:37:07from the beginning
00:37:08he was putting
00:37:08his hands on her
00:37:09but she loved him
00:37:11and she wanted
00:37:11to try to make it work
00:37:14seeing how he
00:37:16was
00:37:17so easily
00:37:18able to do
00:37:19what he did
00:37:19to me
00:37:20and to Chris
00:37:21and to Mila
00:37:22and to everybody else
00:37:23I knew it was
00:37:24going to escalate
00:37:26I was begging Mila
00:37:27to leave him
00:37:30I told her
00:37:31everything that he
00:37:31did to me
00:37:33and I was like
00:37:34please get away
00:37:35from this man

00:39:20covered in tattoos
00:39:22he's at Joe's
00:39:24they end up locating
00:39:26the car
00:39:26with Wade Wilson
00:39:28in it
00:39:28at a Joe's Crab Shack
00:39:30just sitting in the
00:39:31parking lot
00:39:36now for one
00:39:37you're going to need

00:39:55oh okay
00:39:56that's no problem
00:39:57no I got a call
00:39:59somebody was sitting
00:39:59in their car and everything like that.
00:40:01Oh, definitely not.
00:40:02Oh, we don't need a spot, she's trying to.
00:40:04Oh, OK, she's on her way now.
00:40:06Yes, we don't need a spot right now.
00:40:08Mm-hmm.
00:40:10OK.
00:40:12I'm going to have you step out of the car,
00:40:14and I'm going to detain you.
00:40:17Not arrest.
00:40:19Detain you right now.
00:40:20What happened?
00:40:21Hm?
00:40:22Because of the battery this morning.
00:40:26There wasn't any battery?
00:40:29OK.
00:40:32Give me the, let me see the keys to the car.
00:40:34I need a very good car.
00:40:37Wade?
00:40:38Sir, I need a little lucky.
00:40:40Right now, L41, let's go ahead.
00:40:42Let me get some keys to the battery.
00:40:46All right, please.
00:40:47Just wait till my partner gets here.
00:40:52L41, going to need a couple more units.
00:40:54Don't go anywhere.
00:40:56Hey.
00:40:59Alpha 80, we're out, we're in there.
00:41:02He's taking off four miles.
00:41:04Just ran a stop sign.
00:41:07We're going up towards McGregor.
00:41:09Do we have, like, an address of where this guy lives
00:41:11or anything?
00:41:14Negative, sir.
00:41:14We don't even know who that car belongs to.
00:41:18I'm off of him.
00:41:20He's signal 12.
00:41:21It's only battery charge.
00:41:27When Wade Wilson took off from the scene,
00:41:30there was a very brief pursuit before that was terminated.
00:41:34Wade Wilson was only being investigated
00:41:36by the Fort Myers Police Department at that time
00:41:39for a misdemeanor battery charge.
00:41:43Pursuing someone endangering the lives of the public
00:41:47for a misdemeanor battery charge is not something
00:41:49that any agency would do.
00:41:57We know that Wade went to Joe's Crab Shack,
00:42:01and then he left there and then went back over the bridge,
00:42:06back over into the Cape, and went to Mateo's Graphics,
00:42:09where Wade had approached Joshua Lukic seeking to get help
00:42:13just to get out of town as quickly as he possibly could.
00:42:20911, what is your emergency?
00:42:23I have a very unstable man that's at my office.
00:42:31He's got tattoos.
00:42:32He's shirtless.
00:42:34He said he just hurt a girl.
00:42:37His name was Wade.
00:42:39Wade, yeah, I don't know his last name,
00:42:41but I know his name's Wade.
00:42:43He's just a cordial friend of a friend associate,
00:42:46and he just did something bad, I guess,
00:42:49and is running from somebody,
00:42:50but I need to get him out of my place.
00:42:53All right, I just left.
00:42:54I'm right around the block.
00:42:55I don't feel safe with this guy there.
00:42:57He won't leave.
00:42:59When the Cape Corp Police Department arrived
00:43:02to meet with Josh Lukic, officers tried
00:43:05to locate Wade inside the business,
00:43:07but he had fled the area on foot.
00:43:10Cape Coral at that point wasn't even aware
00:43:13of what had happened at Mila Spa in Fort Myers.
00:43:17There would have not been any communication or knowledge
00:43:20between the two agencies.
00:43:22Detectives began investigating the vehicle
00:43:24that was located there at the business.
00:43:27They determined that it belonged to a young lady
00:43:29by the name of Christine Melton.
00:43:32Christine Melton was then placed on their radar,
00:43:34and they began to try to locate Miss Melton.
00:43:38They began running the driver's license information for her,
00:43:43determining who the emergency contact was,
00:43:44which happened to have been a young lady
00:43:46by the name of Stephanie Johnson.
00:43:48They reached out to Miss Johnson.
00:43:50Miss Johnson had told them that the night before,
00:43:53she and Christine Melton met Wade Wilson at the Buddha,
00:43:57which is a local establishment here in Fort Myers.
00:44:02They were in the process of closing down the Buddha.
00:44:05It was about 2 o'clock in the morning,
00:44:06but yet they didn't want to stop partying.
00:44:11So they decided to move over to Miss Melton's residence.
00:44:16Stephanie had to get her child to school,
00:44:18so she left Christine alone with Wade Wilson
00:44:22at that point in time.
00:44:26The Cape Coral Police Department had responded
00:44:28to Christine Melton's home in South Cape Coral.
00:44:32When law enforcement arrived, they knocked at the residence.
00:44:35They didn't receive a response,
00:44:37so they ultimately wound up breaching the door.
00:44:41When officers went inside,
00:44:43they had located Christine Melton,
00:44:46wrapped up in some blankets and a carpet.
00:44:49Christine Melton was choked to death.
00:44:52Right about that same time,
00:44:54we received a call from the Fort Myers Police Department.
00:44:59They had been investigating the domestic incident
00:45:03with Melissa Montanez and Wade Wilson fleeing the scene
00:45:07in Christine Melton's car.
00:45:09The homicide of Christine Melton
00:45:11and the domestic violence incident with Melissa Montanez
00:45:15happened right on the border between the two cities.
00:45:18We are working two investigations
00:45:21that are separate from each other
00:45:23at the same time with the same suspect.
00:45:26The search was on, at that point, to find Wade Wilson.
00:45:33In 2019, I was working for the Cape Coral Police Department
00:45:36as a detective.
00:45:39When we found out that Mila was the girlfriend
00:45:41of our current suspect, then that's when they requested,
00:45:46hey, Detective Mila, go to the Fort Myers Police Department,
00:45:50go speak with Mila, see what information you can get from her.
00:45:53Most importantly, a location for Wade Wilson at the time,
00:45:57and what relationship Wade Wilson had with Ms. Christine Melton.
00:46:07How do you know Wade? How long have you known?
00:46:10Boyfriend, six months.
00:46:11Boyfriend, six months.
00:46:14He's been in jail, incarcerated three and a half of this.
00:46:17He beat me up, and I put him in jail here.
00:46:20And then when he had a charge on West Palm
00:46:22for second-degree felony stolen property,
00:46:29they released him, and then me, stupid enough,
00:46:31went down five days ago and got him.
00:46:34There's a gang of exes that keep saying,
00:46:36Mila, don't go back, Mila, don't go back.
00:46:38Exes of his?
00:46:39Yeah. Kelly was friends with Chris,
00:46:40and, like, it's just, like, all these people
00:46:42that link up together and just share information.
00:46:45Everybody told me that this would happen.
00:46:49I have a busted mouth, so I'm talking funny.
00:46:51Yeah, he busted it this morning. It's okay.
00:46:54He punches me as hard as he can right here,
00:46:57like, in the face.
00:46:59And somehow, when he punched like that,
00:47:01I was able to kind of, like, maneuver around the back and run.
00:47:05And that's how I got away.
00:47:06And then he jumped in the car and left.
00:47:09You haven't seen him, though, since then?
00:47:12Okay.
00:47:13Now, let's rewind.
00:47:14Okay.
00:47:23Last night, we went to Buda, roughly 11-ish.
00:47:28What happened there?
00:47:29We order a few beers.
00:47:31Well, he's wandering around talking to people.
00:47:33You know, he's very social.
00:47:34And then I pretty much sit at the table watching the band.
00:47:39And, yeah, we just hang with friends and stuff like that.
00:47:41And then that's when he wanted to go get drugs
00:47:45at the drug house or something.
00:47:47And I said, no, I don't want to go to a drug house, you know?
00:47:50I guess he knew that I wasn't going to do that.
00:47:52He took the keys.
00:47:52And then I see the Hellcat drive off.
00:47:55He leaves the Buddha in your car by himself.
00:47:58No.
00:47:59He can't drive a stick shift.
00:48:00So we had somebody else with him.
00:48:02Who?
00:48:03I don't know.
00:48:04I don't know.
00:48:05I feel like it was a car full of people.
00:48:08And in the morning, he was blowing up my phone.
00:48:10And he told me that the Hellcat ran out of gas somewhere.
00:48:13So I said, okay, let me come get the keys.
00:48:17So I said, meet me at the spa.
00:48:20He pulls in a black car.
00:48:21I'm wondering whose car it is.
00:48:23Were you ever inside that car?
00:48:25No, I was not getting that car.
00:48:27I would have died if I would have gotten that car.
00:48:30Speaking with Mila, we were able to put Wade Wilson at the Buddha
00:48:34the same night as Miss Melton.
00:48:38And we were able to connect the charges for the battery domestic violence
00:48:43with the homicide investigation.
00:48:46I'm going to be straight up and honest with you.
00:48:48We do have a body.
00:48:50Oh my God, stop it.
00:48:52This is a homicide.
00:48:53Are you really serious?
00:48:55Did you see him talking to any females at the club last night?
00:48:58No.
00:48:58At the Buddha?
00:48:59Was he talking just to random people all over the place?
00:49:02Guys, he's very social.
00:49:05If I wouldn't have went and got him, this would have never happened.
00:49:09You can't blame me.
00:49:15I wish I would have just left him down there.
00:49:18While speaking with Mila, I asked her if I could see her phone.
00:49:22And I noticed that he had called her several times throughout the day of October 7th
00:49:28from different numbers.
00:49:33When we recovered the black Nissan belonging to Christine Melton,
00:49:37we ended up serving a search warrant on the vehicle.
00:49:42And we did locate two cell phones inside of this black Nissan.
00:49:48When we recover the phones, we are not able to just turn on cell phones and see who they belong
00:49:55to
00:49:55and start rummaging through them.
00:49:56To be able to go inside someone's cell phone requires a search warrant, and that takes time.
00:50:03And in a situation like this, time is important.
00:50:06So I was really playing a waiting game.
00:50:10While we were working on the Christine Melton case that first day,
00:50:14where we get another case,
00:50:16we had received a call at the Cape Coral Police Department about a found purse and possible missing woman.
00:50:22A police officer at a local elementary school had a parent come into the school
00:50:30and say, hey, I found this purse out in front of the school by the sidewalk.
00:50:35He looks in the wallet, gets the name and the address,
00:50:39and realizes that the owner of the purse, Diane Ruiz, lives just a couple of streets behind his school.
00:50:46The officer went to return the purse, and when he got to the home,
00:50:52he learned that Diane Ruiz was not there.
00:50:55Her son told our school resource officer that my mom is supposed to be at work.
00:51:07911, what is your emergency?
00:51:09I would like to file a missing person support.
00:51:12Okay, what's exactly going on, sir?
00:51:14Well, um, she was walking to work and never made it to work.
00:51:21Her purse was found, and she is nowhere to be found.
00:51:26Okay, and who is that to you?
00:51:28That is my fiancée.
00:51:30Does she have a phone?
00:51:33Yes, her phone is not in her purse that they found.
00:51:37In Diane's case, knowing that her cell phone was turned off and that she was not responding to any messages,
00:51:43I really wanted to get a hold of her cell phone records quickly.
00:51:47When I was speaking with another detective, she said,
00:51:50you know, Nick, what do you think the chances are that these two cases are related?
00:51:56And at that time, I said, I don't know, we're on opposite ends of the city.
00:52:01Nothing so far has said that Diane Ruiz or Christine Melton knew each other,
00:52:07and we could not come up with a connection between the two women.
00:52:12All at the same time, there's still a big piece of the Christine Melton case missing.
00:52:18Our suspect is still on the loose.
00:52:21We knew the general area that he was last in when he was at Mateo Graphics.
00:52:27That neighborhood was searched extensively,
00:52:31and we had hoped that he was still in that general area.
00:52:41All of a sudden, that night on October 7th, we get a big break.
00:52:46We received a call from Wade Wilson's dad,
00:52:51giving us a location of a house that he was hiding inside of in Cape Coral
00:52:55that was right down the street from Mateo Graphics.
00:53:00I said, what's going on?
00:53:02So he goes, you want me to tell you the truth?
00:53:05And I said, yeah.
00:53:06He said, I killed a girl last night.
00:53:10And I said, what?
00:53:13And he said, two.
00:53:15And he said, I choked the bitch.
00:53:18He said, Dad, I'm a killer.
00:53:21I'm a killer, and I kill with my bare hands.
00:53:25He said, they'll find the first one.
00:53:26I know that, you know.
00:53:28He went in detail what he did, and he laughed,
00:53:31and he thought it was funny.
00:53:36And I said, where are you?
00:53:38He said, I got away.
00:53:41I found a house.
00:53:43Wade Wilson broke into a home nearby in Northeast Cape Coral.
00:53:49Luckily, the couple that was living there had left the day before
00:53:52and went back to Ohio.
00:53:54Wade Wilson helped himself to some White Claws, food, and clothing.
00:54:00During that time, he ended up calling his biological father.
00:54:05We found out that his dad didn't have much of a connection with Wade
00:54:10until he had reconnected when he was 18 years old
00:54:13and had started asking his parents for money.
00:54:19Wade had asked him whether or not he would assist him in getting out of town.
00:54:23The dad put out a ruse to indicate that, yeah, he would get him an Uber,
00:54:27but he needed to know what the address was, where he was located.
00:54:31So at that point in time, the father let Cape Coral Police Department
00:54:35know where Wade Wilson was.
00:54:41When the task force got there, they then invited Mr. Wilson to come out,
00:54:45and that's how he was ultimately located and ultimately arrested.
00:54:50All right, man, listen, I'm a nice guy, okay?
00:54:53That's good.
00:54:54All right, good.
00:54:56So, all right, I'm going to take, I'm going to put some new handcuffs on you.
00:54:59If you want anything stupid, I'm going to slam you on your face.
00:55:02I'm going to slam you in my face if you want to.
00:55:04I don't care, I'm not going to do nothing.
00:55:05All right, but you don't have to threaten me.
00:55:06That's the fucking car, man.
00:55:07Spread your feet, kick your feet.
00:55:08Fuck you.
00:55:10Fuck you, man.
00:55:18What's your name?
00:55:21I got a phone call from his dad saying,
00:55:26I'm on the other line with the marshals,
00:55:29and they have Wade surrounded, and he murdered two women.
00:55:35This way.
00:55:36Of course, I was like, are you serious?
00:55:39But deep down, I wasn't shocked at all.
00:55:43I knew that that's what he was capable of.
00:55:45This is the second door here.
00:55:48After Wade Wilson was placed under arrest,
00:55:50the first interview with him went very quickly.
00:55:53Suck my dick, cracker.
00:55:55How about that?
00:55:56I'll see you in track.
00:55:57He did not admit to knowing Christine Melton,
00:56:00did not admit to having anything to do
00:56:03with the homicide of Christine Melton.
00:56:06The next morning, an email came from Diane's cell phone carrier.
00:56:11At that point, I now have her cell phone records,
00:56:15and I'm looking at the last calls or text messages
00:56:19that were made or came through.
00:56:21And when I had looked at the phone number,
00:56:24immediately my heart sank because I recognized the phone number
00:56:28that was being dialed belonging to the girlfriend of Wade Wilson.
00:56:33Wade Wilson was calling his girlfriend, Mila,
00:56:37from Diane Ruiz's phone.
00:56:39At that point, I knew that the Christine Melton case
00:56:43and the Diane Ruiz case were connected.
00:56:45So at this point, my strategy changes.
00:56:48I go from working a missing person case
00:56:51to working a possible homicide.
00:56:57A painful night for Southwest Florida family.
00:57:00Their loved one is missing.
00:57:01Diane Ruiz disappeared yesterday morning on her way to work.
00:57:05Her purse found nearby.
00:57:06This torture is just sitting back here and just waiting.
00:57:09It's killing us.
00:57:11It really is killing us.
00:57:13Brandon Cuellar and his family are still reeling
00:57:16from the sudden disappearance of his mother.
00:57:18I want my mother to come home.
00:57:19That's my mother.
00:57:22After getting the phone records,
00:57:24I was able to go into the elementary school
00:57:27and take a look at the surveillance video
00:57:29from the time where the purse was dropped off.
00:57:33And now I see Christine Melton's car
00:57:36in the same spot where Diane Ruiz's purse was located.
00:57:41I also obtained GPS and longitude-latitude coordinates
00:57:46for every spot that her phone was pinging.
00:57:51Diane's phone had traveled a lot within her neighborhood
00:57:55and then had traveled west on Pine Island Road.
00:58:00Pine Island Road is a lot of vacant lots,
00:58:05a lot of trees, bushes, wooded areas
00:58:08that you could potentially hide a body if you wanted to.
00:58:14I had believed that Diane Ruiz's body was somewhere
00:58:18located along Pine Island Road.
00:58:21We had canines out searching for her.
00:58:24We had side-by-side ATVs out looking for her,
00:58:28squad cars, you name it, everybody was out looking.
00:58:41Within, I would say, about two and a half days of searching,
00:58:44Wade Wilson's dad had another conversation with him
00:58:48while he was in the Lee County Jail.
00:58:59What's up, Dad?
00:59:00What's up, boy?
00:59:01Hey, man, how you doing?
00:59:02I'm all right.
00:59:03You okay?
00:59:04Yeah, not really.
00:59:05I found out how they found me.
00:59:07What?
00:59:07They said you.
00:59:08They said they found me because of you.
00:59:09What'd they say?
00:59:10They said you called them.
00:59:12Yeah.
00:59:12Did you?
00:59:13What do you think?
00:59:14Yeah.
00:59:15Yeah.
00:59:16All right.
00:59:17How do you feel about that?
00:59:18Yeah.
00:59:20Yeah.
00:59:20Yeah.
00:59:21I do too.
00:59:22Yeah.
00:59:23Do you understand that?
00:59:25No.
00:59:25Why?
00:59:26Because why would you want me here?
00:59:28You know I'm going to be here.
00:59:29Wade, son, listen to me.
00:59:30I love you more than anything on this fucking earth.
00:59:33Yeah.
00:59:34And I'm going to be honest with you, son.
00:59:42You broke my heart.
00:59:44Yeah.
00:59:44When I say that to you, I don't mean that to make you feel like shit.
00:59:49But I say that to you because, you know, you came from me.
00:59:55Yeah.
00:59:55And the pain that you have caused, son, I can't even describe to you.
01:00:01Yeah.
01:00:02It's something that'll never be forgotten.
01:00:06But listen to me, son.
01:00:08Yeah.
01:00:08We gotta fix it.
01:00:09Well, how do you want me to fix it?
01:00:11Yeah.
01:00:11I'm here to help you fix it.
01:00:13Yeah.
01:00:13Because I'm going to tell you why we gotta fix it.
01:00:15Three reasons.
01:00:18Yeah.
01:00:18That 15-year-old boy that's missing his fucking mom right now.
01:00:22Yeah.
01:00:23Who is about to fucking lose his shit because he's waiting on his fucking mom to walk back
01:00:27in that door.
01:00:28Yeah.
01:00:29We gotta fix it.
01:00:31That fiancé who's waiting on his fucking wife to come home.
01:00:35We gotta fix it.
01:00:37Yeah.
01:00:37And the only way, Wade, that you are going to get any fucking leniency is to fix this shit.
01:00:43Okay?
01:00:44Everybody in the state thinks you're a monster.
01:00:47Yeah, I know.
01:00:48So, yes, yes, you did some monster shit.
01:00:51Yeah.
01:00:52But you know what?
01:00:53You can show them that you have remorse and you fixed it, son.
01:00:57Did they put the story on the news and anything?
01:00:59Yeah.
01:01:00Yeah?
01:01:00Yeah.
01:01:01So what do you want me to do?
01:01:02I mean, when?
01:01:03We gotta, we gotta, we gotta, we gotta, we gotta send that lady home to her family, son.
01:01:10Alright, Dad.
01:01:11Okay?
01:01:11Right.
01:01:11She decided to go home to her family as painful as it's gonna be for those people.
01:01:16Yeah.
01:01:16Not knowing is harder for them.
01:01:19Yeah.
01:01:20And that little boy's been on that fucking news.
01:01:23Yeah.
01:01:23Just crying for his mama's son.
01:01:25Are you kidding me?
01:01:25No, dude.
01:01:26I'm not fucking kidding you, Wade.
01:01:27It's, it's fucking heartbreaking.
01:01:29Yeah.
01:01:30Okay?
01:01:30And this is what I don't understand.
01:01:32You know, and I don't, whatever.
01:01:34Was that, was that just rising to his brother?
01:01:37Yeah.
01:01:38Yeah, I knew it.
01:01:39I knew it was.
01:01:40Yes.
01:01:40And just, you know, you lost your goddamn mind.
01:01:44Yeah.
01:01:45Yeah.
01:01:45Okay?
01:01:46And my biggest fear was that you were gonna lose it and go on a rampage.
01:01:51And I just about did.
01:01:53That's what I was doing.
01:01:54I know.
01:01:54I know you were heading there.
01:01:55Yeah, I was.
01:01:56Okay.
01:01:56I was gonna do more.
01:01:57I know.
01:01:58How'd you know?
01:01:59That's crazy you said that.
01:02:00You were right.
01:02:01You were right.
01:02:02You were right.
01:02:02I knew what you were going to do.
01:02:03Yeah.
01:02:04That's why I went, that's why after the first one I said, okay, number two, then number three.
01:02:08Right.
01:02:08Yeah.
01:02:09Yes.
01:02:09And you know what's crazy, son?
01:02:11What's that?
01:02:12Is the people's house that you went in.
01:02:14Yeah.
01:02:14They just left.
01:02:16No.
01:02:17They fucking just left.
01:02:18Just left.
01:02:19You're kidding me.
01:02:20No, I'm not kidding.
01:02:21Yeah, I believe it.
01:02:21Everybody would have happened when you went in that fucking house.
01:02:23Oh, everybody.
01:02:25Right.
01:02:25Everybody.
01:02:26Okay.
01:02:29October the 10th was now the third day that we were looking for Diane Ruiz.
01:02:37All of the officers at our police department were still searching the Pine Island corridor.
01:02:45Two of our officers had taken a break from searching and they were having lunch in a vacant field.
01:02:56While they were having lunch, one of our officers noticed a buzzard in the sky in the area.
01:03:07The buzzard ended up landing in a vacant field next to some pepper bushes.
01:03:14Buzzards are attracted to decomposing flesh.
01:03:19So the officer went into the pepper bushes in this vacant lot.
01:03:26And that's where he had located the body of Diane Ruiz.
01:03:36When the medical examiner had responded to the scene, Diane Ruiz had some marks on her body that looked like
01:03:44tire marks.
01:03:46However, it was really hard to tell from the naked eye any cause of death.
01:03:53While we were on scene, I get a phone call saying, hey, Wade Wilson wants to talk to you.
01:04:11He wanted to trade a body for a meal, but Wade Wilson has no idea that we just located the
01:04:22body of Diane Ruiz.
01:04:24So do you want me to tell you what happened on the truth?
01:04:26Yeah.
01:04:27Sure.
01:04:28All right.
01:04:31The truth is, I was just randomly driving.
01:04:34I saw her walking down the road.
01:04:37At the window driving, I said, hey, do you know where the high school is?
01:04:40Where are the schools at?
01:04:41Could you show me?
01:04:42She got it in my car.
01:04:44That's all it's up.
01:04:46Got her in my car.
01:04:47And then from there, we drove from school and I was going to drop her off.
01:04:51But I knew in my mind I was going to drop her off.
01:04:54She really wanted to get out of the car.
01:04:56At this point, I could tell she was getting, I could sense your fear.
01:04:59I'm like, fuck her mind.
01:05:00I'm like, but you're the prey.
01:05:02I can sense it.
01:05:04And she wanted to get out.
01:05:06And I could just tell.
01:05:07So I was like, no, I'm just going to go ahead and just kill her real quick.
01:05:15Grabbed my neck and choked her.
01:05:18She was about to do this for sure.
01:05:20Give her that.
01:05:23And I brought her to her.
01:05:24I'm going to show you guys where she's at.
01:05:25And she was still alive.
01:05:28And pushed her out of the park.
01:05:30And she tried to get out of her random vehicle.
01:05:33So she was not moving anymore.
01:05:39She was still alive.
01:05:40She was still alive.
01:05:41She was still alive.
01:05:44She was still alive.
01:05:44While talking with him, he's got really dark eyes.
01:05:48It's almost like that there was just like nothing there.
01:05:51There was no remorse.
01:05:52No empathy.
01:05:55That's what I did with mine, you know.
01:05:57I used my charm.
01:05:58I used my good looks.
01:05:59That's what I did with the first girl.
01:06:01And that's how I got her in her bed.
01:06:03And then look what happened to her.
01:06:04Same story.
01:06:05Same story with this.
01:06:07I just used my looks.
01:06:09Well, since you brought her out, let me ask you about that then.
01:06:12First girl, how'd that all happen?
01:06:15I met her at the park.
01:06:17Okay.
01:06:18Went up to her, died.
01:06:20Just like that?
01:06:21Got several bullets.
01:06:24Me, the girl and her friend went back to her house.
01:06:27Where she just found out.
01:06:29After like 20 minutes to meet at the house, her friend left.
01:06:33Okay.
01:06:33And then I killed her.
01:06:36And then I killed her.
01:06:36How'd you kill her?
01:06:37Oh, strangulation.
01:06:41And then where'd you go?
01:06:42Then I got in the car.
01:06:44I went to my girl's first.
01:06:46That didn't work out right.
01:06:47And I was like, you know what?
01:06:49I've already done it once, man.
01:06:50I'll do it again.
01:06:52Randomly driving around.
01:06:53Randomly saw that girl walking.
01:06:56And I was like, that's the one.
01:07:00I'm so crazy when I'm on drugs that the rage overcomes me.
01:07:04Am I thinking properly?
01:07:06And I just, I guess, you know what comes across my mind?
01:07:09Just murder.
01:07:10Just murder.
01:07:11Murder.
01:07:11Just kill, kill, kill.
01:07:14Are we going to go?
01:07:15You're going to take me to make this.
01:07:16I'll show you the body.
01:07:17Yeah.
01:07:18You're going to make some fresh rice.
01:07:19Yeah.
01:07:20Let's go get this body.
01:07:21Come on.
01:07:22It's going to get dark.
01:07:23Hold on, man.
01:07:23I'm hungry.
01:07:25The fact that we had already located Diane, there was no reason for me to take him out of jail.
01:07:32Cape Coral police tonight are confirming they consider Wade Wilson, who's in custody, seen here in a court appearance yesterday,
01:07:38a person of interest in the deaths of both these women.
01:07:42I started watching the news and my heart dropped.
01:07:47Like, it had to have been someone else.
01:07:50It can't be him.
01:07:51Like, he's not that type of person.
01:07:54Like, yeah, he's, he cheats, but he's not a murderer.
01:07:58Confirming they consider Wade Wilson.
01:08:00I turn on the news and, like, it's literally Wade on the news.
01:08:04Like, Lee County murder.
01:08:07I was like, oh, my gosh.
01:08:10But looking back, the night Wade stabbed me could have ended up very differently.
01:08:14I could have been dead.
01:08:19A couple of months later, we were able to get DNA confirmation for both Diane Ruiz and Christine Melton.
01:08:26Wade Wilson's DNA was recovered from both crime scenes.
01:08:32And we were able to confirm that Wade Wilson sexually assaulted Diane Ruiz after he killed her.
01:08:42Grand jury officially indicted Wade Wilson on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Ruiz and another
01:08:48woman, Christine Melton.
01:08:50Both women were killed within hours of each other in Cape Coral last month.
01:08:54These two women were preyed upon by the defendant, and their murders impacted their families and shook our community.
01:09:04The grand jury indictment comes out, and the public is very interested in this case.
01:09:09The media attention grew and grew and grew over time.
01:09:14This is not what we're used to, this type of just absolute random violence.
01:09:20Some people made a little bit of a weird connection between Wade Wilson and Cape Coral and Wade Wilson, the
01:09:27antihero, also known as Deadpool.
01:09:30Some people were calling him the Deadpool killer, using it in headlines, saying the Deadpool killer is going to trial.
01:09:37Any time we would have court, he'd be on the news and people would see his face.
01:09:41And so women started writing him. Women started reaching out to him.
01:09:46I did a public records request for Wade Wilson's visitor log.
01:09:51There were hundreds of kiosk calls from women.
01:09:56Thank you for using GTL.
01:09:59Hi, baby.
01:10:00Hi, baby.
01:10:05What's up, baby?
01:10:07What's up?
01:10:08Hey.
01:10:11Baby, what are you going to be wearing tomorrow?
01:10:13Maybe not for him.
01:10:18Well, maybe that sounds like a good idea.
01:10:22During the time period up to the trial, Wade Wilson is changing his appearance while he's in jail, including adding
01:10:30tattoos on his face and head, such as a swastika.
01:10:35This grabs media attention, of course, and it just caused a media sensation.
01:10:40Wade Wilson.
01:10:41Wade Wilson.
01:10:41Wade Wilson.
01:10:42Wade Wilson.
01:10:43Wade Wilson's receiving an interesting number of messages from the outside.
01:10:463,903 messages since June 12th of this year.
01:10:51Say my name, spell it out, syrup it up like a lemonade, sweet and sour, make it bust it.
01:10:57He ate it up. He loved it.
01:10:59Every time he'd come to court, he'd look behind and see who was there watching him.
01:11:05He gained a following from all over the world that went on email writing campaigns for him and started GoFundMe
01:11:15pages for him.
01:11:17And he started collecting money basically for brutally killing two young women.
01:11:34The attention was very upsetting to the families.
01:11:39To just think that women could be attracted to and giving attention to this man that really was a monster
01:11:46and who upended their lives.
01:11:48That was a really difficult thing to deal with.
01:11:59I think one thing about this case that stands out is how justice can't be served without people that are
01:12:08willing to come in and testify.
01:12:09You know someone by the name of Wade Wilson?
01:12:11Yes, ma'am.
01:12:12How do you know Wade Wilson?
01:12:13He's my son.
01:12:15How old were you when you found out you were going to be his father?
01:12:1914 or 15.
01:12:21How old was his mother at the time?
01:12:22A year younger than me.
01:12:24Was he placed up for adoption?
01:12:26Yes, ma'am.
01:12:28Christine Melton was my best friend and my cousin until October 7th, 2019.
01:12:35Did you have any contact with her after you left for work that day?
01:12:38Um, a brief text message.
01:12:41Um, she, uh, she, uh, she, uh, she didn't think I'd give her a kiss goodbye.
01:13:00Had you?
01:13:01Of course.
01:13:05This was certainly a group effort of, of people in the community willing to come in and testify against someone
01:13:12who was so dangerous.
01:13:13And because of that, we were able to do what we did.
01:13:15We, the jury, find that the defendant is guilty of first-degree murder.
01:13:21There are certain people who I, I'll say it, they are poster children for the death penalty.
01:13:27And Wade Wilson is one of them.
01:13:29So, our goal from the minute we knew what he had done to these two women was to receive a
01:13:37death penalty sentence.
01:13:40He killed for the sake of killing.
01:13:42That's what he wanted to do and that's why he did it.
01:13:45I don't think there was any ounce of remorse whatsoever.
01:13:47The totality of the circumstances warrants that the defendant, Wade Steven Wilson, be sentenced to death for each count of
01:13:54first-degree murder.
01:13:55Count one, first-degree murder of Christine Melton.
01:13:58The defendant is hereby sentenced to death.
01:14:01Count four, first-degree murder of Diane Ruiz.
01:14:03The defendant is hereby sentenced to death.
01:14:09When I heard that he got the death penalty, all I could think of was if the Palm Beach County
01:14:15sheriffs had done their job, these two women would probably still be here.
01:14:22So, I filed a complaint against the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office for not thoroughly investigating my sexual assault.
01:14:31The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office did do an internal affairs investigation.
01:14:35At the end of the report, they did find that Detective Potter did not do a thorough investigation on the
01:14:41sexual assault of Kelly Matthews.
01:14:44Detective Potter was supposed to be suspended for three weeks, but he ended up only being suspended for two weeks.
01:14:50The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office
01:15:10Wade ruined my trust in the dating world, but he didn't ruin my life. I have a great life.
01:15:19Assault is, like, such a dirty thing that no one wants to talk about it, and I refused to be
01:15:29one of those people.
01:15:31I'm not a victim. I'm a survivor, and I will always advocate for people that have gone through this and
01:15:38want to share their story.
01:15:40And if they're too afraid to, you know, they can always reach out to me and I'll help them.
01:15:46They shouldn't hide from this kind of stuff.
01:16:06I'm not a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm
01:16:06a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim.
01:16:06I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a
01:16:08victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm
01:16:08a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim.
01:16:09I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a
01:16:10victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim. I'm a victim.
