00:00.
00:30And welcome again to the big match.
00:32And three more games for you today, each of them filled with plenty of incident.
00:37For our main match, we go to Stamford Bridge for the London Derby game between Chelsea and Spurs.
00:42Nice put.
00:44Hausman's gone on.
00:45And Hausman with a chance.
00:47Oh, and he's missed it.
00:48What a miss.
00:50Also, Nottingham Forest against Leeds.
00:52Sterling ball.
00:53Jones on the jump.
00:54And number 11 is Eddie Gray.
00:57And the goal has not been allowed.
00:59And Luton against Portsmouth.
01:01He's going to try one.
01:02Travellecock turns.
01:03And Reid's leg.
01:04Here's Jennings.
01:06And there were five goals in that Luton game.
01:08A studio guest today, David Webb of Chelsea.
01:11Welcome to him.
01:11But now let's get on with the action down at Stamford Bridge yesterday between two Jekyll and Hyde sides.
01:16Chelsea, who after a dismal start to the season, now going superbly.
01:20Spurs unbeaten at home, but so far no wins away.
01:23And first of all, it's the Chelsea side.
01:25And with injuries to Boyle and Baldwin, it means a further chance for Paddy Mulligan at number two and Steve
01:30Kemba at eight.
01:32That leaves us with the Spurs side.
01:34And a close-up look at their line-up shows that full-back Cyril Knowles has recovered from an ankle
01:39injury received against Arsenal.
01:40So they are unchanged.
01:42Two great sides, then, who can cancel each other out in so many respects.
01:46Because when it comes to goalscorers, Chelsea, first of all, can point to their own Peter Osgood with 19.
01:53Spurs, meanwhile, can say, what about Martin Chivers with 24?
01:57Then, when it comes to big buys, Chelsea have £170,000 worth of Steve Kemba.
02:02And Spurs have Ralph Coates, who cost them £190,000.
02:06So, as the two skippers, Martin Peters of Spurs and Ron Harris, meet, the referee is Brian Daniels of Raynham
02:12in Essex.
02:13The 52,000 crowd, the Chelsea section having plenty to say at that end.
02:17Countered at the other end by the Spurs supporters.
02:20And there's even one of those marvellous RAF police dogs as a part of the show.
02:24So, Spurs, then, who've yet to win away from home this season.
02:29Kick-off, defending the goal to our left.
02:31White shirts and shorts, yellow stockings against a Chelsea side who've won their last five games
02:36and have been unbeaten in their last ten.
02:40But in derby games, past records don't really count for too much with so much pride at stake
02:45with two such classy sides here.
02:47Here's Kemba.
02:49Challenged by Philip Beale.
02:52And then presented with the ball by Alan Gilsey.
02:55Hudson.
02:56Mulligan.
02:58Who is in for the injured John Boyle.
03:01Hook.
03:02Back to Hollins.
03:08Searching ball into that Spurs penalty area.
03:10And it's Pat Jennings.
03:15Chivers going fast for that one.
03:17And what a beautiful little lay-off for Neymar.
03:20Dempsey coming across.
03:21He's lost to Chivers for the moment.
03:24But Webb picking up Coates and turning the ball into touch for Tottenham's throw.
03:29Chivers already going across to take it.
03:32And that means one of those effortless long throws of his into that Chelsea goal mouth.
03:38Ray Evans.
03:41And Beale.
03:43Peters getting ahead to it.
03:45Dempsey also.
03:47And now Kemba.
03:48Kemba and Coates there.
03:51Hollins.
03:54Two sides who are soon to meet in the semi-finals of the Football League Cup.
04:01First leg of which is here just before Christmas and the second one at Tottenham early in the New Year.
04:09Hudson with the throw for Chelsea.
04:11Houseman.
04:15Hudson.
04:18Perryman there scuttling in.
04:20Hudson finding Hollins who was on another good run.
04:23That should be a corner to Chelsea.
04:26The ball going off Martin Peters.
04:28So Pat Jennings who will be put under pressure.
04:31Knowles at the far post.
04:33Evans at the near post.
04:36Mike England right in there too.
04:38Hudson with the corner.
04:39And that wasn't far away.
04:41But the touch came off the Chelsea player.
04:43Either Osgood or Dempsey who was right up.
04:50Knowles who was having a fine season for Tottenham.
04:52But he was doubtful yesterday with an ankle injury received in the Arsenal match.
04:56But now Cook and Osgood in a lot of space on the right for him.
05:00Hudson going hard into the middle and Houseman too.
05:03Still Osgood.
05:06And now Cook and he turned it in.
05:09No he can't.
05:10And Peters right back there taking a push from his own goalkeeper.
05:14But Spurs for a second or two were in tremendous trouble.
05:19And Chelsea at the moment in these opening five minutes are making the running.
05:25Hudson.
05:28Oh between the legs of Gilsaime to Hollins.
05:31A little dink again.
05:32And Osgood hoping to get on the end of it.
05:34And Tottenham's goal kick.
05:39Well Peter Osgood already showing a bit of appetite for this match.
05:42Perhaps needing a big occasion to pull out the best of him.
05:51Knowles.
05:53And Perriman.
05:55Coates.
05:59Coates.
05:59Knowles.
06:03Coates once more.
06:05Perriman.
06:06Good tackle there by Perriman.
06:08Never shirts a tackle.
06:10First time in there by Peters but now it's Cook again for Chelsea.
06:14Mulligan.
06:21And the feet were high on Martin Peters.
06:24And so it's a free kick for Spurs.
06:31Coates going towards that Chelsea penalty area.
06:33Nowles to take the free kick.
06:37Chivers in fact getting ahead to that one.
06:39And Chelsea holding off a moment.
06:42And Al Kemper to bring it away for them.
06:47And Hudson.
06:52Good jump there by Hausman.
07:04Good jump there by Hausman.
07:08He's left wanting.
07:09And it was Ray Evans who was in the middle of it.
07:12And Hausman who surely should have put Chelsea ahead.
07:16Well he'll be furious with himself for that.
07:20Chances in the first division don't come easier than that.
07:29Neibar.
07:33Comprehensively beaten though by Paddy Mulligan.
07:37Hudson.
07:41To Hollins.
07:45Oh Osgood there.
07:47Left dangerously loose by that Spurs defence.
07:49And taken with a late tackle by England.
07:51Cook with a shot.
07:52but it's over
07:52and Osgood is down
07:54and it really was a bad tackle by Mike England
07:57and the referee coming across towards that situation
08:00but away from England
08:02Mike England probably a little conscious
08:04that he was leaving Osgood a yard or two free
08:06when that situation developed
08:11well Osgood alright again
08:13some strapping round his right foot as you can see
08:18and Pat Jennings to take the goal kick
08:28Dempsey
08:31Haussmann leaning on Evans
08:33and in fact Evans penalised
08:34and I wouldn't have thought there was too much he could have done about that
08:38he kept his eye on the ball
08:40and he had Haussmann pushing into him
08:42and a chance for Hollins
08:44to blast another of those famous free kicks of his
08:47no it's Hudson instead to chip it over
08:49Osgood right in there
08:50just passed
08:58brilliantly conceived free kick there by Chelsea
09:00Spurs stealing themselves for the drive from Hollins
09:06now neighbour
09:08invitingly in space
09:10Hudson pursuing him
09:14Perryman
09:17neighbour
09:17Evans making the overlap for him
09:20that's the ball for Ray Evans
09:21good cross by Evans
09:23and a corner to Tottenham
09:29well I would think that'll make Evans feel a little happier
09:31and certainly some of his form against Arsenal was good
09:33Burnetti doing his share of shouting
09:35good break by Ray Evans
09:40neighbour with a kick
09:42Mulligan waiting for it
09:45neighbour turning it back first time there
09:47and now Peters
09:48oh and a fine save
09:49and it's not away yet
09:51Hudson
09:52and it's still not away
09:54but a fine save there
09:56reflex save by Burnetti
09:58from Martin Peters
09:59Chelsea now
10:00with Cook
10:08and down goes Jennings
10:10that ball skidding across that patch of mud in that goal mouth
10:13not making it easy for him
10:15Chelsea manager Dave Sexton has deserted his
10:18crow's nest on the top of the stand
10:20obviously wants a little change of tactics somewhere
10:22having a good work with Chris Garland on the left
10:24the Chelsea substitute
10:27now Kemba
10:30Hudson
10:30and Oscar trying to get in with the head
10:32and it fell just behind Cook
10:34and Kemba
10:35and to safety for Tottenham
10:49Dempsey
10:53a moment ago
10:54it looked as though Martin Peters
10:55was the player who was more seriously hurt
10:57Ron Harris
10:58who's just played that one forward
10:59seems to be struggling a good deal more than Peters at the moment
11:02but Osgood turning that ball in nicely
11:04for Kemba
11:05but Herriman doing tremendous covering again for Tottenham
11:11Noles
11:16Bilzine
11:17and Noles to Chivers
11:18desperately trying to get away from that Chelsea defence
11:20and succeeding in finding Gilzine
11:22but that's Harris
11:25and now Dempsey
11:33Hudson
11:34to Harris
11:37Ron Harris still obviously not feeling himself
11:43Collins
11:45a lot of space there for him
11:46and a long range shot
11:47but
11:49wide enough
11:52but
11:53Hollins
11:54who really has had
11:55a good scoring record this season
11:56with 11 goals
11:57four of them from penalties
12:04Dempsey doing a bit of pushing
12:05to get his head to it
12:06and being penalised for it
12:07Tottenham's free kick
12:08on Chivers
12:14Harris
12:15Harris who really does seem to be feeling the effects of the knock he had
12:18a few minutes ago
12:28Webb
12:29letting Cook go ahead with it
12:30probably one of the most encouraging sights of all in any afternoon for Chelsea
12:33is when Charlie Cook badly wants to get a touch of the ball all the time
12:38good play there by Hollins
12:40but Peters to cut it out
12:42now to Coates
12:45Neva
12:53off Harris
12:54for Kepa
12:57Osgood
12:57followed by England
12:58although it's deep into that Chelsea half
13:00Hudson
13:01Mulligan
13:13Hudson taking this one
13:18to Cook
13:21Beal watching him
13:23and knows
13:26and he still gets away with it
13:27beautiful play there by Cook
13:29in such a confined space
13:30Mulligan
13:31to turn it in once more
13:32Osgood
13:33on his body
13:34beautiful skills by Osgood
13:36but not quite the shot at the end to match it
13:40with a lovely piece of artistic play by Peter Osgood
13:45in a game that so far in the first half hour
13:48has certainly had no shortage of really talented football
13:53and in that respect Charlie Cook has played his part too
13:57Hudson
13:58and Evans
14:04and another throw to Chelsea
14:06and certainly after their patchy form in the opening part of the season
14:09it's quite easy to see why Chelsea have had this good recent run
14:12as Beal gets in that time
14:14and concedes the corner
14:15and we're now well into injury time at the end of the first half
14:20Beal and Perryman who've done a wonderful job for Spurs
14:24and really done so much to keep them afloat
14:27on level terms of 0-0
14:30perhaps now facing the last prices of the first half
14:33as Hudson takes the corner for Chelsea
14:36Webb going in
14:38and Hudson again
14:42good piece of play there by Evans
14:43coming out so quickly to make it difficult for Hudson
14:48and Hudson with room to cross it once more
14:50and a header there
14:51and a good save by Jennings from Charlie Cook
15:03and really it would have been no injustice
15:04on the run of the play of the first half
15:06if Chelsea had gone in with that one goal lead
15:11where the Spurs are conscious of their pour away record
15:14they look a very withdrawn side so far this afternoon
15:16and really have had just this one shot
15:21saved by Peter Bonetti from Martin Peters
15:25certainly had this hard game against Arsenal on Wednesday night
15:28though Chelsea had this testimonial match on Tuesday against Rangers
15:33now Neymar
15:38the twinkling skills but the ball into touch again
15:41for Chelsea's throw
15:43but a highly skilful first half
15:45and a very entertaining one as well
15:47just that one commodity goals missing at the moment
15:54so there's the half-time whistle with two sides
15:56who really looked up to their entertainment value
15:59certainly in the first half
16:00and particularly Chelsea
16:04with Peter Hausman who had a brilliant spell
16:06but certainly missed an open goal that would have put them ahead
16:08still to come for you to enjoy on the big match this afternoon
16:11highlights from Nottingham Forest against Leeds United
16:13and Luton Town against Portsmouth
16:16but the half-time score here at a packed Stamford Bridge
16:19is Chelsea nil
16:21Spurs nil
16:22and we'll be back with you in a couple of minutes
16:37so Chelsea then who've had so much of the first half
16:39get us away now at the start of the second
16:42Hollins
16:45Leedsman flagging for a push presumably by Ray Evans on Peter Hausman
16:50no he's given it the other way
16:51the referee in fact
16:54seemed to think it was that way as well
16:56but the line's been indicating that it was probably an offside decision
17:11Mulligan
17:14Mulligan again
17:16and Beal once more there for Spurs
17:24Kemba
17:29and now it's Gilzeen
17:35Chivers fighting for the ball there
17:37which is something he wasn't doing to very good effect in the first half
17:42and I'm sure one of the Chelsea substitutes
17:44dying to get on Chris Garland
17:47their £100,000 man from Bristol City
17:54Gilzeen
17:55nice ball there for Perryman
17:57and now for Evans
18:01Labour
18:02beaten by Harris
18:03Evans versus Harris
18:05and Harris comes away with it
18:06and Evans is down holding his leg
18:09Osgood
18:12and now it's Coates
18:15turned nicely there for Gilzeen
18:18and Martin Peters having a word with the referee
18:20I think he fears that Ray Evans might be badly hurt
18:26now it's Coates
18:28now Beal
18:31and Beal putting it in a touch
18:33so that the trainer can come on
18:34to have a look at Ray Evans
18:40Spurs give her Alan Mullery
18:41who's having
18:42his stomach
18:44trouble
18:45an injury there
18:46that is taking a bit of time to heal
18:48and looking anxiously there towards
18:49Ray Evans
18:53and young John Pratt
18:54who filled the number four shirt of Alan Mullery
18:57for a few weeks
18:57and did it to a very good effect too
18:59well Evans
19:00not too badly the worse for wear
19:09Cook
19:16back to Mulligan
19:18long driving ball there towards Hausmann
19:20Osgood right in there too
19:23was it handball
19:24the linesman is flagging
19:26but is he going to give it inside
19:27Jimmy Neighbors hand
19:28it was
19:29that the ball touched
19:31Osgood smiling away
19:33I think he half suspected
19:34that was a penalty
19:35and it would be very interesting
19:36to look back
19:37and see whether
19:38in fact
19:38that ball was just inside the area
19:40or just outside it
19:42the referee is saying
19:44it was a good two yards outside
19:45Jimmy Neighbors
19:46I would think vastly relieved
19:47the free kick then to Chelsea
19:48between Hollins
19:51and Hudson
19:56and just passed from Hollins
20:03sending even Pat Jennings
20:04for all his flying dive
20:06could have got to that one
20:11Skipper getting some advice
20:12from the touchline
20:14or a push there by Webb
20:16on Peters
20:17unmistakable
20:19whatever David Webb may say
20:20that must have been a push
20:21on Martin Peters
20:27and he gives Spurs the free kick
20:35I wonder if he's got another of those
20:37Martin Peters
20:38flicks over the wall
20:39he's put it for Chivers
20:40to hit it first time
20:48must be a long time
20:49since Martin Chivers
20:50has had so quiet a game
20:51as this
20:51by firing away
20:53Tottenham's top scorer
20:54last season
20:55and 24
20:56already to his credit
20:57this season
20:57and really without a shot so far
21:00Chelsea trainer
21:01Harry Medhurst
21:01their former goalkeeper
21:02and West Ham too of course
21:07changed his mind
21:08about playing it for Chivers
21:09but now Chivers
21:09might get another chance
21:10no Webb
21:11in a touch again
21:12but Spurs
21:13long throw
21:15with Martin Chivers
21:18again no effort
21:19but all the distance
21:20you would want
21:21and Gilzeen
21:22turning it back
21:23Coates now
21:23and down goes Bonetti
21:25from Ralph Coates
21:32going the long throw
21:33that causes
21:34a certain amount
21:34of trouble
21:55Cyril Knowles
22:01great challenge there by Chivers
22:03on Mulligan
22:03Gilzeen
22:04delayed it off nicely
22:05for Coates
22:06Evans has gone streaking
22:08down the right
22:08for Tottenham
22:09and that's beautifully
22:09weighted by Coates
22:10for Evans
22:12and a corner
22:13to Spurs
22:18that was much more
22:19like Ralph Coates
22:20as well
22:20a beautifully weighted ball
22:21there for Evans
22:22down the right
22:23Neighbours going across
22:24to take the corner
22:25and England has come
22:27right up for it
22:29Osgood back with him
22:35they thought about
22:36a short one
22:37for a moment
22:37now Neighbours
22:38a long one
22:40Peters there
22:40with his head
22:42Mulligan now
22:43for Chelsea
22:50Beal versus Cook
22:53and Beal a long way
22:54back to Pat Jennings
23:03Chivers again beaten in the air
23:04that time by David Webb
23:05and now it's with Hudson
23:08John Hollands
23:25Neva
23:29Dempsey
23:30and Hudson
23:31good play by Chelsea
23:32Dempsey to Osgood
23:35falling for Hudson
23:38swept nicely there
23:39for Kemba
23:40a little fortunate
23:41he hit him on the back
23:45aimed again
23:46there a chance for Cook
23:47and a goal
23:48for Chelsea
23:50by Charlie Cook
23:56beautiful ball though
23:57in the first place
23:58that set it up
24:01for Kemba
24:02on the right
24:02and Cook
24:04taking his cross
24:04superbly
24:06to give Jennings
24:07no chance
24:10so Chelsea then
24:12leading by a goal
24:13to nil
24:13with 16 minutes
24:14of the second half
24:15gone
24:17and that was only
24:18Charlie Cook's
24:19third goal of the season
24:26and now Spurs
24:27with this bad away record
24:29remember they haven't
24:30won away from home
24:31this season
24:33face a Chelsea
24:34that are a goal up
24:34and a Chelsea side
24:36that have conceded
24:37only five goals
24:38in their last
24:39ten games
24:42so a wonderful
24:43defensive record
24:43that Spurs
24:44have got to break
24:45now
24:45Webb
24:45to take the free
24:46kick for Chelsea
24:54Osgood winning it in the air
24:55Cook
24:55a first timer
24:56but Jennings behind it
25:01knows
25:08Webb to head it away
25:10but that's
25:10Perriman
25:11now Coates
25:12neighbour on the right
25:15but well taken out
25:16by Harris
25:16neighbour if anything
25:17looked just a little
25:18lightweight this afternoon
25:20and the Chelsea
25:21supporters
25:23scarves a lot
25:24delighted with that
25:25one goalie
25:29Perriman to Peters
25:32good shot there by Peters
25:33and he called for a good
25:34save too
25:35from Burnetti
25:37took that short pass
25:38from Perriman well
25:39and with men closing in
25:40on him
25:40still got it in
25:45Chivers first to react
25:47to that
25:47ball
25:48that was allowed
25:48to go a surprisingly
25:49long way
25:50but now Harris
25:55Cook
25:59and Chelsea's throw
26:07good piece of play
26:08by Hausmann
26:09Cook
26:11and now
26:12Hollands
26:12with a chance
26:13to hit one
26:14just past that
26:15Spurs post again
26:24now nose
26:34that's a little one
26:35two there
26:35with John Pratt
26:36the substitute
26:36on for Gilzean
26:38neighbour
26:40Pratt
26:44across there
26:44for Peters
26:45to go
26:45storming in
26:46on it
26:49Hudson
26:50Mulligan
26:51a long way
26:52clear
26:52Mulligan
26:52really has
26:53had a good
26:53game
26:55Evans
26:55to Coates
26:59Evans again
26:59a chance
27:00to cross
27:00this one
27:01so much
27:02room
27:02for him
27:02to do it
27:03and Chivers
27:04and he quite
27:05couldn't force it
27:06home
27:06very nearly
27:08got in there
27:08to force it
27:09home
27:13but very good
27:14brave goalkeeping
27:15by Peter Bonetti
27:17and Chelsea
27:18winning the free kick
27:25good cross by Evans
27:26too
27:31Peters forward again
27:32but Webb
27:33as safe as he has
27:34been the whole
27:35afternoon
27:36Mulligan
27:39and now
27:40Collins
27:44and now goes
27:45house
27:45and he's all right
27:46he's onside
27:46but Jennings
27:48is there
27:48before it
27:57England
28:01to Evans
28:06Noles
28:07just a shade
28:08over two minutes
28:09left now
28:09Peters
28:11they've really
28:11got to
28:12manufacture
28:13something out of
28:14nothing now
28:14Spurs
28:14and here's
28:15Ray Evans
28:15surging forward
28:16for him again
28:18Coates
28:21fair look
28:22across there
28:22Peters going in
28:23and just over
28:24from Martin
28:25Chivers
28:27and that's it
28:29Chelsea take
28:30their run of
28:31wins to six
28:32and Spurs
28:33have still
28:33the win
28:34away from home
28:34Charlie Cook
28:36the man who
28:37scored the only
28:37goal
28:38of a high
28:39class game
28:40full of the
28:41right sort of
28:41talents
28:41here at
28:42Stamford Bridge
28:43this afternoon
28:45Chelsea
28:46now take it
28:47to 11
28:47without a win
28:48without defeat
28:49rather
28:53Steve Kemba
28:54coming off
28:55and Charlie Cook
28:56so much
28:57invention in
28:58this Chelsea
28:59attack
29:00so the final
29:01score here at
29:02Stamford Bridge
29:02this afternoon
29:03Chelsea 1
29:04Spurs 0
29:07and the Chelsea
29:08manager Dave
29:08Sexton
29:09and chairman
29:09Brian Mears
29:10both confirmed
29:10afterwards that
29:11that was probably
29:11Chelsea's best home
29:12performance of the
29:13season
29:13Spurs manager Bill
29:14Nicholson would
29:15simply say
29:15we were very
29:16disappointing
29:26still to come
29:27for you today
29:27to enjoy
29:28your highlights
29:28of Nottingham
29:29Forest against
29:29Leeds
29:30and Luton
29:30against
29:31Portsmouth
29:31but now
29:32let's meet
29:32a man
29:32who had
29:32a couple
29:33of stitches
29:33in a
29:33head wound
29:34after that
29:34game
29:34at Chelsea
29:34yesterday
29:35Chelsea
29:35defender
29:36David Webb
29:37with him
29:37Jimmy Hill
29:38last time
29:38you were on
29:39David
29:39we could
29:39see the
29:40stitches
29:40this time
29:40they're
29:40hidden
29:41under
29:41that
29:41beautiful
29:41hair
29:42but
29:42Chelsea's
29:43great
29:43improvement
29:43yesterday
29:44everybody
29:44enjoyed
29:45that game
29:45coming
29:46at the
29:47end
29:47of a
29:47long
29:47run
29:48of
29:48better
29:48performances
29:49when you
29:49were knocked
29:49out of
29:50Europe
29:50what's
29:51brought the
29:51difference
29:52I think
29:52it's an
29:53all-round
29:54belief
29:54in each
29:55other
29:55I think
29:56that's
29:56particularly
29:56what's
29:58instigated
29:58a change
29:59in the
30:00mood
30:00and everything
30:01we've got
30:02players all
30:02wanting to
30:02play for
30:03each other
30:03helping
30:04each other
30:05working
30:05for each
30:05other
30:06and I
30:06think
30:06it showed
30:07up
30:07yesterday
30:07against
30:07Tottenham
30:08were you
30:08a bit
30:08complacent
30:09at the
30:09start
30:09of the
30:09season
30:10I think
30:11complacency
30:11starts
30:12from
30:13a feeling
30:14of overconfidence
30:15which possibly
30:16we had
30:16last year
30:17when we
30:17played
30:17Real Madrid
30:18we came
30:19back
30:19we had a
30:20very short
30:20summer
30:20and we
30:22came back
30:23and probably
30:24we had a
30:25little bit of a
30:25hangover
30:25from the
30:26Real Madrid
30:27game
30:27a hangover
30:28I mean
30:28a hangover
30:30what about
30:31individual
30:32performances
30:32of players
30:33during that
30:34time
30:34who've
30:35suddenly
30:35improved
30:35well I
30:36don't think
30:37anyone can
30:38outshine
30:39Alan Hudson
30:39for his
30:39improvement
30:40and Peter
30:42Burnetti
30:42at the
30:43back
30:43you know
30:44Alan Hudson
30:45played a big
30:46part in that
30:47goal yesterday
30:47and I think
30:48that's probably
30:48his finest
30:49game of the
30:49season
30:50I was a bit
30:50disappointed
30:51in the way
30:51from a very
30:52promising start
30:52he'd slipped
30:53back
30:53but he seems
30:54to have
30:54recaptured
30:54all of his
30:55old form
30:55is a tremendous
30:57start to this
30:57goal
30:58well he's
30:59absolutely
30:59you know
31:00he's got his
31:01old feeling
31:01back again
31:02you know
31:02he plays
31:03this one
31:03two with
31:03John Dempsey
31:04back again
31:05John does
31:06a terrific
31:06ball up here
31:07to Peter
31:07Osgood
31:09and this
31:10type of
31:10mover
31:11Ozzy's
31:12showing no
31:12mean skill
31:12there to
31:14get away
31:15from Mike
31:15England's
31:15sliding tackle
31:16but it's
31:17this ball
31:17that spreads
31:17out the
31:18play
31:18that really
31:19opens up
31:19the defence
31:20there are
31:20four Spurs
31:21players
31:21they're
31:21beaten
31:21as it's
31:22aimed away
31:23for them
31:23and a little
31:23behind trap
31:24there by
31:25Steve Kemba
31:26but it's
31:27as the cross
31:27comes over
31:28I think
31:28Cyril
31:28Knowles
31:29won't want
31:29to see
31:29this very
31:30much
31:30because he
31:30ducks
31:31his head
31:31and takes
31:31his eye
31:32off the
31:32ball
31:32there
31:32leaving
31:33Charlie
31:33Cook
31:34not much
31:34time
31:35but he
31:36didn't need
31:36very much
31:37time
31:37and he
31:37flashed it
31:38straight
31:38in the net
31:39and what's
31:41what's brought
31:41about this
31:41with Alan
31:42Hudson
31:42I'm very
31:42interested
31:43in this
31:43young lad
31:44because
31:44the first
31:45time I
31:45saw him
31:45I thought
31:46what a
31:46tremendous
31:47talent he
31:47had
31:48and then
31:48suddenly
31:49it all
31:50appeared
31:50to just
31:50fritter
31:51away
31:52well
31:53I think
31:53he had
31:54a very
31:54big
31:54disappointment
31:55the other
31:55year
31:56when we
31:56was in
31:57the cup
31:57final
31:58and
31:59he's
31:59taken
31:59him
32:00a year
32:00or so
32:00to get
32:00over
32:01it
32:01I mean
32:01he's
32:01still
32:01a very
32:02young
32:02fella
32:02and he's
32:03just got
32:04married
32:04and he's
32:04got a
32:04stability
32:05now
32:05that
32:05possibly
32:06he may
32:06not
32:06have
32:06had
32:06I
32:07don't
32:07know
32:07but
32:07what
32:08he's
32:08done
32:08now
32:09he's
32:09brought
32:09himself
32:09back
32:09into
32:10line
32:10and
32:10he's
32:11a
32:11much
32:11more
32:11mature
32:11player
32:12than
32:12I've
32:12ever
32:12seen
32:12tremendous
32:12performance
32:13yesterday
32:13but
32:14extraordinarily
32:14enough
32:15although
32:15people
32:15might have
32:16said
32:16you
32:16should
32:16have
32:16won
32:16by
32:16three
32:17or
32:17four
32:17goals
32:17in the
32:18end
32:18of course
32:18you
32:18could
32:18have
32:19you
32:19almost
32:19let
32:20a draw
32:20get
32:21into
32:21the
32:21score
32:22sheets
32:22yeah
32:22well
32:23I
32:42fantastic
32:42now
32:43let's
32:43look
32:43at
32:43that
32:43second
32:43half
32:44one
32:44where
32:44you've
32:44already
32:45taken
32:45the
32:45blame
32:45but
32:46we
32:46can
32:47see
32:47really
32:47who
32:48it
32:48was
32:48who
32:48pulled
32:48you
32:48out
32:49of
32:49trouble
32:51there's
32:52the cross
32:54you've got
32:54caught with
32:55Chivers but
32:55Peter Bonetti
32:56the cat
32:58on the floor
32:58he's had a spell
33:00and people still talk
33:01about his World Cup
33:02performance
33:02very unfairly
33:03in a way
33:04it's one of those
33:04things that's always
33:05dragged up
33:06but over the past
33:07few weeks
33:07you've hardly let in
33:08any goals at all
33:09his form has been
33:10remarkable
33:10very remarkable
33:11I think
33:12what Peter is so good
33:13at is that
33:14when he's not in the game
33:15he's actually in it
33:16because the ball
33:17will come up
33:18at the end of the field
33:19and all of a sudden
33:20he'll have to be in the game
33:21and a lot of goalkeepers
33:22can't respond so quickly
33:23but Peter responds
33:24very quickly
33:25and you always
33:25find a ball
33:26that's flashing past you
33:27you think
33:27oh he's
33:28you know
33:28that's in
33:29and he's always
33:30leaping across his goal
33:31and pulling them down
33:32marvellous
33:32well it was a very good
33:33all-round performance
33:34yesterday
33:35how do you see
33:35the rest of the season
33:36going for Chelsea
33:37you're in the semi-final
33:38of the League Cup
33:38you're still in the FA Cup
33:40I mean
33:40not had a chance
33:40to be knocked out
33:42the League
33:42you're beginning to creep up
33:43on all the other London clubs
33:45well
33:46if I was to be a gambling man
33:48it's just the way
33:48I'd like to see my horse
33:49win a race
33:51for the League?
33:52for anything
33:53because I think
33:53you know
33:53it's just the right time
33:54of the season
33:55to start going
33:56it's just like
33:57I'd like to see my horse
33:57start to come
33:58to win a race
33:59in a mole race
34:01or something
34:02well all the Chelsea Stallions
34:04there at Stamford Bridge
34:05they certainly showed
34:06class form yesterday
34:07and let's hope David
34:08that they continue
34:09to do that
34:09for the rest of the season
34:10I hope you're right
34:11it's worth watching
34:14well in fact
34:15it was worth watching yesterday
34:16and I thoroughly enjoyed it
34:17but there were just a couple
34:18of tackles
34:18which I want to draw
34:19your attention to
34:20the first one
34:21by Mike England
34:22on Peter Osgood
34:23and what you have to decide here
34:25as Hollies plays the ball over
34:26is whether in fact
34:27Mike England
34:28was going for the ball
34:30or whether he was going
34:31for the man
34:31he lunges his foot through
34:33it's a typical England tackle
34:34but I think one could say
34:35that although Osgood fell
34:36very heavily
34:37that there was
34:38some justification
34:39in arguing
34:40that England went
34:41for the ball there
34:42as hard as he in fact
34:43did go for it
34:44but the second tackle
34:45which Ron Harris
34:46makes on Ray Evans
34:47I see no justification
34:48in claiming anything else
34:50but it's the kind of tackle
34:52that we can do without
34:52on football fields
34:54just look now
34:55you'll see Harris
34:56in the dark shirt there
34:57win the ball
34:58and then chase in after it
34:59this is in slow motion
35:01and it's the tackle
35:01in its entirety
35:03now we'll look again
35:05and stop the action
35:06just at the point
35:07where Harris goes in
35:09for that ball
35:09Evans has gone for the ball
35:11Harris' foot is clearly
35:12over the top of the ball
35:14and I sat very close
35:16to that incident yesterday
35:17and from my seat
35:18I would have certainly
35:19taken Harris' name
35:20for that one tackle
35:21and most probably
35:22would have sent him off
35:22because that is a kind
35:23of dangerous tackle
35:24in football
35:25that I certainly
35:26for one don't want to see
35:27so much for those
35:28two incidents
35:28what about Spurs
35:29well for me
35:30it cleared up the mystery
35:31of Spurs yesterday
35:32because they played
35:32so well when we've
35:33gone to White Hart Lane
35:34I wondered why
35:35they couldn't win
35:36matches away
35:37the answer is very simple
35:38their players don't
35:39fight and tackle
35:40hard enough
35:41to gather points
35:42consistently away
35:43from their home ground
35:44I think it was
35:44typified most with
35:45an old player
35:46and a young player
35:47Alan Gilzean
35:48didn't seem to relish
35:49the game at all
35:49yesterday and in the end
35:50was pulled off
35:51and young Jimmy Neighbour
35:53there who is
35:54obviously still learning
35:55the game and plays
35:56so well in front
35:56of his own crowd
35:57showed that there's
35:58a lot more to learn
35:59about football
35:59for him yet
36:00before he can give
36:01a contribution
36:02both home and away
36:03so the Spurs mystery
36:04cleared up
36:05a wonderful afternoon's
36:06entertainment for all of us
36:07and a question mark
36:09over the future
36:09of both London clubs
36:11I suppose the real
36:12questions being
36:13are Chelsea coming up
36:14on the rails
36:14as David Webb suggests
36:15and what are Spurs
36:16going to do
36:17about that away form
36:18maybe those questions
36:18could be answered
36:19in those tremendous
36:20League Cup semi-finals
36:21that are coming up
36:22but now it's time
36:23for some more action
36:23and for that we go to
36:24Luton where it hasn't
36:25really been a very happy
36:26season for them
36:26I noticed that yesterday
36:27the Luton supporters club
36:29were handing out leaflets
36:30saying please support
36:31our team a little more
36:32well let's see how
36:33that worked out
36:34as we pick up
36:34Luton against Portsmouth
36:35commentator Jerry Harrison
36:37and Luton are in white
36:40there's Chris Nicholl
36:43conceding the first
36:44corner of the game
36:46in the second minute
36:48Owen Hand is at the
36:50back of the penalty area
36:51so is Jenkins
36:52Reynolds going to the
36:54near post
36:54the short one
36:55right across the face
36:56of the area
36:57Keane there to get it
36:58away
36:59and there it is
37:01from Reynolds
37:03and what an abject
37:05piece of luck
37:06for Luton
37:07Mike Keane's header
37:08hitting
37:11Reynolds here
37:12and leaving
37:13Tony Reid the goalkeeper
37:14absolutely helpless
37:21Busby a flick on
37:22straight to Yulden
37:23though
37:24to hand
37:26McCann
37:28Portsmouth seem to have
37:29just that little bit
37:29more time
37:30and just that little bit
37:31more accuracy
37:31and here's Ley going
37:32for a good ball
37:33from McCann
37:33over the far side
37:34now four Portsmouth
37:35players if he can get
37:36a cross in
37:36to Wilcox the far man
37:38but he's got to get
37:40past Givens first
37:41and Givens gives it
37:41back to McCann
37:42anyhow
37:44good play by McCann
37:46can he try one
37:47Reynolds gonna shoot
37:49and so easy
37:51from that distance
37:54but made by McCann
37:56an error in the first
37:58place by Givens
38:00and half the Luton
38:02town defence
38:02standing still
38:03and Portsmouth
38:05go two up
38:10oh and Yulden
38:11flicking it past
38:12almost
38:13caused more trouble
38:14with it
38:14and now at last
38:16a roar of support
38:17from this Luton crowd
38:21another one
38:22number seven
38:25six minutes
38:25into the second half
38:26Rodner Heinsohn
38:28Keane coming
38:29to the near post
38:29out comes standing
38:30changes his mind
38:32Keane
38:37well that is the
38:39breakthrough
38:39and the man
38:41who thoroughly
38:42deserves it
38:46ten men
38:49now it's 2-1
38:51and Mike Keane
38:52with his second
38:54goal of the season
38:56puts Luton in
38:57with some sort
38:58of a chance
39:06well up by
39:07Nickel
39:07under terrific
39:08pressure
39:08Keane
39:08thumbing it
39:09away
39:13very little
39:14width in the
39:16Luton attack
39:17of course
39:17they can't
39:18afford it
39:18really
39:19with only
39:19playing with
39:20only ten men
39:20but it means
39:22the flanks
39:22are quite
39:24useless
39:24very often
39:29quickly in there
39:30by Nickel
39:30and now it's
39:31Luton breaking
39:31again
39:32here's Heinsohn
39:33can he turn one
39:33up and try one
39:35Heinsohn
39:35oh he's there
39:37and standing
39:38absolutely helpless
39:40with that one
39:41it was slow
39:41across his goal
39:42but give the credit
39:44to Gordon
39:45Heinsohn
39:45and the salute
39:47says that's his
39:48first goal
39:49for Luton
39:51and what a time
39:52to get it
39:54and there goes
39:55Gibbons
39:55he doesn't look
39:56like as if
39:56he's got an
39:57injury now
39:58it's always
39:59in the post
40:01and Gibbons
40:03the lip
40:03suddenly comes
40:04back
40:04here's Anderson
40:05Anderson
40:06going to get
40:07one
40:07oh he's there
40:14and with
40:15three minutes
40:16to go
40:17it's
40:18Anderson
40:25but most
40:26of the
40:27congratulations
40:28of the
40:29Luton players
40:30going over
40:31the other
40:31side of the
40:32field
40:32to
40:32Don
40:33Gibbons
40:37and
40:38Anderson
40:39himself
40:41congratulating
40:41Don
40:42Gibbons
40:43the injured
40:44man who
40:44made that
40:45break
40:47so we
40:48are a
40:48really

44:252-0
44:25to Leeds United
44:26the pictures there came from ATV
44:28and they've at least helped us a little bit in
44:29helping to solve the mystery
44:31of the sending off of Chapman of Nottingham Forest
44:33they tell us
44:33it was for an infringement by Chapman
44:35on the Leeds United striker
44:36Mick Jones
44:37well that's it from today
44:38hope very much you've enjoyed it
44:39we leave you of course with the goal that set Chelsea swinging yesterday
44:42but it really was an afternoon of great emotion
44:44and after you've seen the goal
44:46let's have a look at some of the characters
44:47who were left a little frustrated
44:48on the sidelines
44:49at Stamford Bridge
44:57Neva
45:01Dempsey
45:02Hudson
45:03good play by Chelsea
45:05Dempsey to Osgood
45:08falling for Hudson
45:10swept nicely there for Kemba
45:12a little fortunate

45:17aimed again
45:18there a chance for Cook
45:20and a goal
45:46he's coming up
