00:10Oh Mr. S, close the window!
00:15Sure, little kitty.
00:20Hey little kitty, so how is the new AI system working?
00:25Oh Craig, but what it is?
00:30Well, that's an answer we all must know to keep up with the changing time.
00:36So in today's episode, let me answer this technological revolutionary question.
00:43What is Artificial Intelligence?
00:46Zoom in!
00:49So, you ever heard of Alexa or Siri or seen a self-driving car?
00:56Or have you ever wondered how your phone's face recognition works?
01:01Well, believe it or not, all of these technologies have something in common.
01:07And that is, they use Artificial Intelligence or AI to perform a task.
01:15And what is that?
01:18Well, before I answer that, let's see what the word intelligence stands for.
01:24Intelligence is the ability to gain and apply knowledge and skills.
01:30For example, when we learn the alphabet A to Z in kindergarten,
01:37we acquire this information and can use it to create words, sentences or even solve many problems.
01:46Similarly, when a robot or computer uses the information programmed into it to solve problems,
01:57it is also using a form of intelligence.
02:00However, this type of intelligence is different from human intelligence.
02:07It is called Artificial Intelligence or AI.
02:11AI systems are designed to be able to learn from their experiences, adapt to new situations
02:20and make decisions based on the available information.
02:25But the crucial question is, is it really helpful to us?
02:31AI can be used in many ways, from helping humans perform tasks more efficiently
02:38to allowing machines to perform tasks that would be difficult or impossible for humans to do.
02:46For example, AI can be used in robots to help them do tasks in factories or hospitals,
02:57or in self-driving cars to help them navigate roads and avoid accidents.
03:03One of the best things about AI is that it can process and analyse lots of data very quickly and
03:13accurately.
03:15This makes it a useful tool in many different industries like healthcare, finance and retail,
03:24where lots of data needs to be analysed to make good and quick decisions.
03:29So in a way, it is a very powerful tool that is transforming our lives.
03:37But as they say, with great power comes great responsibility.
03:43So it's vital to use AI systems responsibly and not become too dependent on them,
03:50as it can make us more reliant on technology and less self-sufficient.
03:57This could potentially lead to decrease in motivation and a decrease in physical and mental activity,
04:05which would directly affect our health.
04:08On top of that, the biggest concern with the AI system is that it has the potential to disrupt existing
04:18industries,
04:19and potentially replace human workers, leading to mass unemployment.
04:25Therefore, it is vital to ensure that its development and uses are guided by ethical principles
04:33to maximise its benefits and minimise its potential negative impacts.
04:40Trivia time!
04:43Did you know, one of the earliest milestones in the development of AI
04:48was the creation of the first computer program designed to play chess, which was developed in the 1950s?
04:57Yes!
04:59Yes!
04:59And in 1997, a computer program called Deep Blue made headlines
05:05when it defeated the world champion chess player Gary Kasparov in a six-game match.
05:14Hope you acquired new information today.
05:17Until next time, it's me, Dr. Binox, zooming it!
05:26Mr. Binox, please exercise on my behalf!
05:33Never mind.
