00:00The Fueco Volcano, or Volcano of Fire, erupted less than 30 miles outside of Guatemala City,
00:06sending lava and thick smoke shooting out of its crater.
00:10Reuters reports the volcano has erupted several times over the past 10 years,
00:15including an eruption in 2018, which left more than 190 people dead.
00:21The New York Post reports that several small villages have been evacuated
00:25due to the threat of impact from downslope flows.
00:28Guatemala's National Institute for Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology, and Hydrology
00:34reported that many of the communities nearest to the summit are poor without substantial transportation.
00:39The Fueco Volcano is one of the most active in Central America.
