The Mitchin Murders
Transcript
00:00:25My name is Jessi.
00:00:28I'm a 26-year-old postgraduate student from Iowa studying journalism, but this documentary
00:00:33has nothing to do with that.
00:00:37This is a personal project about something that is happening in a place a couple of towns
00:00:41from where I grew up, a town called Michin in Arland County, Iowa.
00:00:47The town is situated on the other side of the Des Moines River, an area known for its
00:00:52surrounding farmlands and woodland and is a sight to see from a distance.
00:00:58But if you look closely, there is something strange.
00:01:08Me and my ex-boyfriend are taking time off to film this in the hope of finding some clarity
00:01:12and maybe even to solve this strange and disturbing case once and for all.
00:01:17It's something that is close to all of our hearts in Iowa.
00:01:20It all started four years ago, back when maybe I was a little too young to understand.
00:01:32Homicide was confirmed tonight in the small town of Michin.
00:01:35The victim is believed to be 22-year-old waitress and student Shelley Harrison from Arland County.
00:01:41There are no new leads at this point, but we are working hard to get to the bottom of this.
00:01:47Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this point.
00:01:52A local man was arrested in 1990 up on the hill.
00:01:56He was arrested for one murder, one attempted.
00:02:00His name was Bruce Herber, a recluse that lived up in a small wooden house in the rigid woodland area
00:02:05between the town and the main highway.
00:02:07And he still does.
00:02:09Back in 1990, the town was convinced it was him, that he was the one killing and attacking.
00:02:14He! Let me be! Let me be!
00:02:18You fucking...
00:02:20This was until four weeks after Bruce was arrested without bail and was in county jail,
00:02:25April 30th, 1990 to be precise,
00:02:28another girl, Maisie Winters, was found with wounds in the same area
00:02:32and with the same puncture marks that were similar to the other victims.
00:02:37This, and the fact that Bruce had an alibi for when the other victims were attacked,
00:02:42led to Bruce's release with some protests surrounding it.
00:02:46Maisie Winters was one of the most famous cases.
00:02:49She survived, by the way, as did Sarah O'Reilly.
00:02:55So what do we know about this murderer so far?
00:02:58The victims are mainly women, late teens to 20s, but there is one discrepancy.
00:03:04A guy, 25, who was murdered in the same way.
00:03:08He was a local musician who frequented the local bars and sometimes toured around the state.
00:03:13Stabbed multiple times, as was the usual for the murder victims, as well as some strange puncture marks.
00:03:19His name was Ben Holmes and he was killed on May 23rd, 1990.
00:03:24The killer had left an even longer gap with him.
00:03:29In this town with a population of just over 20,000,
00:03:33any murders and assaults are noticed
00:03:35and the police and locals could never understand this break in the killer's pattern when it comes to Ben.
00:03:41The police never caught the killer, even though the FBI, local townsfolk and many others were involved.
00:03:47Even though there was a statewide search and they scoured the hills and surrounding woodland.
00:03:52Whoever it was, they were gone.
00:03:57If I could ask you, in relation to Ben's murder,
00:04:00do you have any idea who may or may not have been involved with it?
00:04:04To be honest, nobody does.
00:04:08The town seemed to go back to normality.
00:04:11Curfews were relaxed.
00:04:13This was until 1994.
00:04:15Another girl was murdered the same way as how it happened four years ago.
00:04:20Multiple stab wounds and a struggle.
00:04:22And they were taken towards the woodland area.
00:04:25Her name was Rochelle Harmon.
00:04:29This will be a project that mainly consists of interviews of victims and other folk from this town.
00:04:37This town that has been home, at least in part, to a serial killer.
00:04:41But everybody is searching and wanting to know who is this mysterious person or even creature.
00:04:47A murderer.
00:04:48A murderer.
00:04:49A myth that has been known to be called the Boogeyman.
00:04:51Maybe.
00:04:53Oklahoma.
00:04:54Maybe.
00:05:05That's right.
00:05:07Maybe.
00:05:09Maybe.
00:05:13Maybe.
00:05:16Every画.
00:05:19Click to click
00:05:21button.
00:05:23What am I to say?
00:05:29My mind is all I got
00:05:35These dreams and all these thoughts
00:05:43An ocean of serpents are dancing in my skin
00:05:50In my shadow eclipse the sun
00:05:56And I sleepwalk down the hill
00:06:02For miles of time
00:06:03Excuse me, excuse me.
00:06:04Okay, fun's over. Get that camera out of here.
00:06:07Look, I was just wondering if I could ask you a few more questions for my documentary about the murders
00:06:11here.
00:06:11Do you even have permission to film here?
00:06:13Look, I'm filming a personal project. I'm not sure what kind of permission I need.
00:06:17Okay, well the party is over.
00:06:20Please, sir.
00:06:21Get that camera out of here.
00:06:22I just need to ask you one question.
00:06:24If you want any more information, I suggest that you apply for press pass.
00:06:28Now I ain't gonna ask you again. Get that camera out of here.
00:06:30Okay, okay, just one, please.
00:06:31Be about your business.
00:06:32Were you the sheriff in 1990?
00:06:34I recognize your face from the news reports.
00:06:47Easy, easy. Let me down easy. Don't wanna be one of those girls that gives you a hard time.
00:07:00So, we are just assimilating data, and it is high summer here in Mitchen.
00:07:06But it is raining outside, and it is coming down.
00:07:12There's usually drought at this time of year.
00:07:16As if that doesn't need to add to the amount of weird things going on here in Mitchen.
00:07:21Anyway, I better get back to Jessie. We left her on our own.
00:07:26Other than the unsuccessful visit to the law enforcement, my first interviewee is Maisie Winters.
00:07:31She was reluctant to interview at first.
00:07:34She was the woman who survived an attack four years ago, and was the case that vindicated Bruce Herbert.
00:07:40Hi, Maisie. Thank you for coming.
00:07:43No problem.
00:07:45Do you want a cigarette?
00:07:48Thank you, Fia.
00:07:49She managed to break away from the killer and run down the hills to the town.
00:07:54Eyewitnesses stated that she screamed for help.
00:07:56She survived the boogeyman, but not without scars, both physical and mental.
00:08:14So, what do you want to know?
00:08:16Well, let's start with the basics.
00:08:18That night, what happened back in 1990?
00:08:22Okay, so, it was April 30th, 1990.
00:08:25I was working at this bar, Mazers, you know, the one on the stretch?
00:08:28Yeah, I know Mazers. It's still here, right?
00:08:31It sure is.
00:08:33Mazers is a drinking joint close to the Strip, where the main shops and amenities are located in the town.
00:08:38Some people find it bizarre that the attacker was so close to the population when he attacked.
00:08:43So, I was working at Mazers part-time, collecting glasses, waiting tables, you know, the usual shit to save money
00:08:49for college.
00:08:50And this one particular night, these guys were buying me tequila as a way of thanking me.
00:08:56And, I mean, this wasn't the first time this had happened, and I'm used to rowdy folks, so I got
00:09:00a little drunk.
00:09:02And I went out back to have a cigarette.
00:09:05And you know how the main stretch backs onto the hills, the ridge?
00:09:09Yeah, okay.
00:09:10All of a sudden, I, I sort of felt this, uh, like this cold, and, um, I...
00:09:22Hey, Mazie, you're doing really well. If you want to stop, that's...
00:09:25No, no, no, no, it's fine, uh, it's fine. I just, I just haven't really spoken about it since the
00:09:30cops and everything, so, um...
00:09:33Uh, so, uh, so I felt this cold, like this cold presence, like when you know someone's there.
00:09:39Yeah, I think so.
00:09:40And, um, and all of a sudden there was a hand over my mouth, and I just started getting dragged
00:09:47straight up this hill.
00:09:48And I mean, like, straight up. I mean, I, I struggled, but he was, like, strong, like, really strong, like,
00:09:54like Superman or some shit.
00:09:57And he dragged me for a while. I couldn't tell you how long. And then, and then we were in
00:10:03the woods.
00:10:06And, and then he started to whisper in my ear, um, you've been a bad girl.
00:10:13You've been a very bad girl. You need to be punished. You need to be cleansed of your sins.
00:10:21And then he started to claw at my shoulder really hard, and his fingernails were really weird.
00:10:26And, and then I could feel him reaching for something in his pocket.
00:10:29And me all revved up, you know, like I, I'd heard what had happened to the other one.
00:10:32So, I, um, I just reached for this, this log to my left, and I just swung it.
00:10:38You know, I just kept fucking swinging. And, and then I, I heard this squeal.
00:10:43And then I was free. And so I just started running.
00:10:47Not back into the woods, but fucking know what's in there, you know.
00:10:50So I started, like, running down the ridge.
00:10:53And, um, and I just started screaming, you know, like, please help me.
00:11:01Maisie, can I ask you a question?
00:11:03Sure.
00:11:04The guys at the bar, do you, do you think they had anything to do with this?
00:11:08I don't think so.
00:11:10Because when I got down the bottom of the ridge, they were still at the bar.
00:11:15You know, and, and they helped me.
00:11:17They called the cops. They were questioned and they were cleared.
00:11:20And, and they did bloods and DNA and shit and everything.
00:11:23And they couldn't find a match.
00:11:24And not even that weirdo in the woods was a match.
00:11:28Do you mean Bruce Herbert?
00:11:29Do you think he had anything to do with it?
00:11:31I don't know.
00:11:32I don't know, dude.
00:11:35Nobody knows.
00:11:38All I know is that I was supposed to be at college.
00:11:41At Drake's.
00:11:43That year.
00:11:44And instead I spent three years just paralyzed by fear.
00:11:53Boogeyman.
00:11:55What do you mean?
00:11:57That's what they call him.
00:11:59Because he's here to cleanse you of your sins.
00:12:02Do you think that's what the killer wants?
00:12:04Some sort of twisted retribution?
00:12:06I don't know.
00:12:08I don't know.
00:12:10We've all sinned, right?
00:12:13It's weird, but when he spoke to me, it's like he knew me.
00:12:16It's like he knew every bad thing I'd ever done.
00:12:21Weird.
00:12:22Weird.
00:12:30Weird.
00:12:31Maisie Winters had a relatively affluent upbringing.
00:12:34Right here in the town of Michin.
00:12:36Her parents are still together.
00:12:38She was popular at school.
00:12:40She was what seems to be a healthy kid in small town America.
00:12:45I asked her if she knew of any grudges.
00:12:47Perhaps somebody was jealous or resentful of her existence.
00:12:51Perhaps the attacks were not opportunistic or random.
00:12:55She could think of no one.
00:12:58Thomas was left a little perplexed by the conversation with Maisie.
00:13:02We knew that we would have to speak to her again, but I thought I would give her a little
00:13:05break so she didn't get too upset.
00:13:08We agreed to resume in a couple of days.
00:13:14I managed to set up an interview with Sarah O'Reilly, the other survivor.
00:13:18Sarah suffered a similar experience to Maisie.
00:13:21She was dragged up the hill, but there was a strange twist.
00:13:54And we were just one.
00:13:54We began to slow down the hill.
00:13:54And with Mary O'Reilly, the other survivor.
00:13:58make yourself comfortable it's all good so uh like are we gonna be on like tv or
00:14:05i'm not sure yet but i'll be sure to get your permission for any distribution
00:14:11thank you so much for coming yeah i really appreciate it yeah of course no it's um yeah
00:14:15it's cool actually i've done i've done a lot of interviews about this already but uh yeah
00:14:20nothing televised okay cool well let's jump straight in i'm gonna ask you a couple questions
00:14:25about what happened that night the night of the kidnapping you know
00:14:40yeah i was at the bar um i don't know if you know it measures measures yeah yeah i went
00:14:47aside for a cigarette and also to get away from doby coleman trying to put his fat fingers
00:14:52on my ass every five not that he has anything to do with the murders he's just your average
00:14:59local town idiot you can ask maizey that she'll confirm he is completely harmless are you and
00:15:05maizey close i wouldn't go that far i mean we hung out a bit after the event you know it
00:15:13gives you a bond you know but uh yeah she got really freaked out like about the whole thing
00:15:20and well she still is right she's i don't know traumatized or you know and i i kept telling
00:15:29her he is just some hillbilly loon you know don't get nightmares but she wasn't having any of
00:15:36that especially after that um the guy died yeah yeah that's bad so back to that night oh
00:15:46yes yeah uh so yeah the night um well some assholes dragged me way on up the hill and uh
00:15:59with
00:16:00such strength i i kept trying to like pull him off me and and well no way bro you know
00:16:08at first
00:16:09like i thought that was a joke but then he was really hurting and uh yeah he was like pulling
00:16:16at my hair and well i struggled but i i remember being on top of the hill and and thinking
00:16:23well this
00:16:24is the moment when i die yeah and then um yeah then a gunshot went off to the right of
00:16:32us you know
00:16:33bang and and well the loon he must have ran into the woods behind me and i couldn't see anyone
00:16:40with
00:16:40a shotgun so i i just scrambled all the way down the hill into mazer's and i told goby and
00:16:47the others
00:16:47and uh yeah they went and scanned the area i mean scanned they didn't find nothing you know and then
00:16:54then the cops came not not even a footprint do you think bruce herber had anything to do this
00:17:04probably not i kind of feel sorry for him
00:17:10yeah anyway so i've got to go pick up my mom
00:17:15are we gonna get a copy of this tape yeah of course of course yeah do you think we might
00:17:22get a chance
00:17:22to speak to you again if we if we need to
00:17:26oh uh i don't know maybe yeah well let me just see how see how it goes you know you
00:17:34can send her the
00:17:34tape and then we'll see okay sure thing we'll make sure we get it to you yeah awesome no problem
00:17:40it was nice to meet you thank you so much for coming
00:17:45sarah o'reilly the aspiring actress she had an upbringing not too dissimilar from maizey
00:17:51in fact they went to the same high school sarah is from the outskirts of the town a section not
00:17:57known for affluence it looks as though this killer did not discriminate
00:18:02she told us she used to drown out the noise of her parents arguing by playing rock music on her
00:18:07stereo they divorced when she hit her early teens she had always wanted to be on stage
00:18:12on a platform ever since she was a child she was prominent in school plays and film projects
00:18:20she also finds it hard to think of any low-key enemies
00:18:26dobie coleman is the local town idiot he's still alive but has since refused to be interviewed
00:18:33when talking to sarah o'reilly and maizey winters they both had similar experiences but completely
00:18:40different outlooks on the one hand maizey seems to have a lot of trauma from the experience
00:18:45she seems moved emotional sarah seems detached from it using the interview as a potential platform
00:18:52for an entertainment career she told me she is looking to get into another thing crossed my mind
00:18:58sarah o'reilly mentioned a gunshot up on the hill which seemed to save her life i wondered who it could
00:19:04be it made me think one way or another i needed to try and interview the guy that everyone was
00:19:10talking
00:19:10about the one they suspected to be the boogeyman bruce herber on the hill we couldn't seem to get
00:19:18a number for the guy or anybody who did have a number would not give it to us so we
00:19:22took matters
00:19:23into our own hands mr herber mr herber we're doing a piece on the murders and we wondered if we
00:19:37could
00:19:37just have a minute of your time i'm not interested and you shouldn't be up here anyways go back down
00:19:45the hill girl please mr herber we'll just take a minute of your time and it could give you a
00:19:50chance
00:19:51to clear your name go back down he was not receptive and still declined to speak with us but a
00:20:03week later
00:20:04we received a call he said he would talk to us but stressed that it had to be brief and
00:20:09that he was
00:20:09only doing it to clear his name it seems that everybody is aware of this documentary now having
00:20:15said that i am surprised that more people have not come forward
00:20:21hi bruce thanks so much for taking a call we will keep it as brief as possible okay no doubt
00:20:27that you've
00:20:28heard about the boogeyman mystery and that is why you're looking to clear your name many think that
00:20:32you may be a suspect but others think differently not no boogeyman okay i am i haven't touched or killed
00:20:40anyone bruce we completely understand that and sorry to offend as said a lot of people think differently
00:20:45of you they say you're a good character do you remember a girl by the name of sarah o'reilly
00:20:51that's the girl who got dragged up the hill yeah i remember her i oh look i i i really
00:21:00have to go
00:21:01now i mr herber thank you so much this helps a lot if i can ask you one question before
00:21:06you leave
00:21:07what do you think of the latest developments the new attacks do you think it's the same person
00:21:12i don't know and i i don't want to be involved in it as i said i only came here
00:21:18to clear my name of
00:21:20this shit before you start poking around seems like you have more investigating to do son
00:21:31thomas had a strange phone call with bruce he was understandably pensive and defensive and didn't
00:21:38give much away would i say that he is a suspect i'm not sure but something tells me probably not
00:21:51the next interview on my list would be the police but we have had no positive correspondence from them
00:21:56in fact they have told us to butt out the next option i thought would be to interview relatives of
00:22:03the most recent murder rochelle hardman we managed to get her brother to speak he did this on the
00:22:08pretext that people may come forward to help with the case hi everyone so i just thought i'd do a
00:22:15quick apartment for you all i just got here to mitchin and just met the landlord he's really weird
00:22:21but the apartment's really cool like we've got some artwork over here and oh this is my favorite one
00:22:33so you picked the drive over here okay i know this place very well i was quite fine thank you
00:22:40thank you this is a bitch to find it took me ages thank you very much for asking
00:22:45this is great so you make this is i feel i feel like a film star right now yeah yeah
00:22:51well uh yeah we
00:22:52got a nice setup yeah just he's on sound just taking care of everything you okay with those bikes
00:22:56yeah okay cool we're good to go great
00:23:08so uh mr hardman thank you so much for coming today we really appreciate it no problem
00:23:14mr hardman when grace please call me grace grace okay sorry with regards to your sister
00:23:23our deepest condolences when liaising with the cops or any other information on the case
00:23:30have you found that you've gotten any closer to finding who may have done this
00:23:33and do you think that it's connected to the murders at all
00:23:37what shit that's some intense question i would say it looks like the other attached
00:23:47i don't even want to think about it but the cops aren't really sure what's going on
00:23:53the ridge was steeped in mystery anyway you know
00:23:58okay so you you don't think that the cops really have any leads well they had that one
00:24:04old weird guy but they don't really know if he did it to be honest i don't think he had
00:24:10anything to
00:24:10do with it you don't well if i did i would have fucking done something by now wouldn't i that's
00:24:17a fucking sure but he's still everywhere i mean it's a parasite but no i don't think he did it
00:24:32i don't think he's capable
00:24:37trace do you mind if i pick your brain for a while um there seems to be sort of a
00:24:42about this town a
00:24:44live sale or more of an urban legend about the boogeyman is this something that you know about
00:24:51you know people seem to think that it's already been here that it's supernatural do you know anything
00:24:56about this yeah that shit ain't you i mean the old girls used to harp on about that all the
00:25:02time
00:25:02i mean my aunt clary used to say when when i was playing up she used to say stop messing
00:25:08around
00:25:09or the bogeyman will get you he will punish you for your sin shit punish you for your sins is
00:25:17your
00:25:18aunt clara still alive no no she is also dead but if you did want to talk to some of
00:25:26the old girls
00:25:26believe that shit you could try the old girls down the great cafe on broad street ask for jennifer
00:25:35jennifer on broad street thank you trace it's really helpful this shit ain't true though they're
00:25:40just messing around or fucking crazy when they say that shit mazy winters and their crew i mean they
00:25:48used to get freaked out by this stuff before the killings you know going on about the the bogeyman
00:25:55they spent one halloween camped up on that ridge yeah yeah you know school was pretty pretty fucking boring
00:26:04place i used to play football though oh nice nice first pick well i'm better
00:26:18thank you drace um for coming in we really appreciate it if we need to contact you again
00:26:23can we um is that's okay with you sure it's okay
00:26:29try not to
00:26:33i've already spent so much of my time on this
00:26:39time is everything you know
00:26:44i sure hope somebody comes forward once this shit gets shown
00:26:55i really do
00:26:59thank you so much trace we appreciate it
00:27:06dracy's interview was interesting he was understandably in some form of grief trying to
00:27:12work his way out of what has undoubtedly been a difficult time what he said about the boogeyman
00:27:17myth seemed to tie in with what mazy winters mentioned the idea of somebody punishing the wicked
00:27:23cleansing their soul an urban legend if you will
00:27:28my mind wandered the bodies were so accessible when killed the murderer didn't even seem to try and
00:27:35hide the bodies it's as if they wanted people to find them this is something more akin to wild
00:27:41animals but mazy's account clearly states it is human
00:27:48hey so um today is my last day um on boogeyman um
00:27:59jesse and i uh back in college we
00:28:05we were an item and
00:28:08i did some things i regretted and we were hoping that
00:28:11working on this together we could come back together as
00:28:14as a pair but
00:28:17if anything it's it's just made things worse with the stress
00:28:20and everything that's been happening um we seem to have very different viewpoints on what is going
00:28:27on and the risks involved i think we have to we have to check it out for ourselves
00:28:32negative it's gonna be crawling with tops
00:28:35oh yeah but i was thinking we could sneak in
00:28:38you know i'm i don't know come on what are we doing this for
00:28:46i don't know jesse honestly i don't even fucking know sometimes
00:28:50this is some fucked up shit
00:28:53so today i'm afraid it's becoming too much and
00:28:56uh i will be leaving the documentary from this point forward
00:29:01come on remember what we're doing here documentaries that tell the truth documentaries that change
00:29:06things we have to take the risk listen if you're not into this don't don't give me that not into
00:29:16this routine shit okay i put as much into this as you have
00:29:21i mean okay fine we'll go just
00:29:27just make sure it's watertight
00:29:31hi everyone i i have a little a little update for you um thomas will no longer be working with
00:29:39me on this piece
00:29:40we had several disagreements over things like location of the filming and the danger that it that it brings
00:29:47you do you drag me out here you it's in the middle of fucking nowhere
00:29:50you want us you want us to be searching down this wild goose chase for a hunt that's some fantasy
00:29:56that you've made up in your head
00:29:56a fantasy you're the one who told me about it
00:29:58yeah he's he's decided not to go ahead not to go ahead and to leave um and to leave and
00:30:05go back home which
00:30:08honestly i'm not totally surprised by we we weren't getting along
00:30:12sneak in at nightfall
00:30:14do you understand what you're doing if you get caught do you understand it can affect your employability
00:30:20he um he he slept with someone else over over a year ago but i um i don't think i
00:30:28realized just
00:30:29how damaging it was for the relationship and we weren't working together the way we should be
00:30:34so i wish him all the best i really do i wish him all the best and um i'm gonna
00:30:40be alone from here on out do the interviews by myself try and find this thing
00:30:50it's just becoming too much
00:30:57so with that in mind i am reluctantly stepping aside and uh we'll be leaving boogie man
00:31:13and for the purpose of the documentary i would like to talk about the surrounding hills that
00:31:17surround the small town of michon arlen county iowa
00:31:22they overlook the town on two sides actually to the east of the town and to the west so the
00:31:29town is
00:31:30in a bowl the hills look like one long bridge each that gets steeper as you go up them and
00:31:37they are
00:31:37full of dense woodland and bush they used to be a prime spot for cougar hunters which are now likely
00:31:43extinct up on those when you reach the top they plateau into flat woodland and are surprisingly large
00:31:49like squares and squares of miles really easy for people to hang out and even live up there
00:31:56the hills have a longer descent on the other side and they have heavy woodland there
00:32:02the attacks took place on the western portion of these hills which happen to be the largest and
00:32:07the most dense of the hilly areas there are many crater type holes at the top and because of these
00:32:13new
00:32:13attacks a lot of it is cordoned off by the police as discussed last time the police and the fbi
00:32:19scoured
00:32:19the area trying to find evidence but did not seem to find anything
00:32:31okay viewers it's jesse here i made it to the hill but we're not really supposed to be here i
00:32:36just
00:32:36i think it's essential for the documentary i'm gonna try and keep the camera as steady as i can but
00:32:40it's pretty steep
00:32:44i'm also gonna try and keep my voice down because the cops could come back here at any time
00:32:51okay okay okay what's that
00:32:57it looks like
00:33:00is that police tape
00:33:02maybe this is where the last murder was
00:33:05oh my god oh my god oh my god
00:33:08what was that
00:33:12okay there's some weird noises coming from the ridge i'm just gonna i'm gonna keep my voice down and get
00:33:17here
00:33:17okay go
00:33:30the trip to the west side of the ridges was an unmitigated disaster
00:33:36it was as if we were getting close to something something important but got spooked by a noise
00:33:42there's definitely something up there worth checking out for this document and for answers
00:33:48for now we need to get back to the interviews and dig deep into them
00:33:53ladies and gentlemen this is our landlord he seems to come over whenever he wants even when we're not
00:33:58in i needed to fix the pipe he needed to fix the pipe ladies and gentlemen welcome to mitchin
00:34:05is that thing on the camera yes yes it is i'm reporting you
00:34:11where are you going
00:34:31okay we're
00:34:32excuse me i'm looking for jennifer
00:34:38who am i easy
00:34:39uh my name is jesse hadle i'm making a documentary about the recent activity here in mitchin
00:34:43that's one of those kids the weird ones everyone's talking about
00:34:46what do you want to make
00:34:47ma'am we were sent by drace
00:34:48drace and hardman the brother of rochelle
00:34:50he said you may be able to shed some light on the myths and legends of the boogie nest
00:34:54you know the superstitions that this town has and how it may relate to him
00:34:58lady this town's always been strange yeah but it's our town yeah so when some weird kid from out of
00:35:04town is buttoned their nose in go to bay defense having said that there hasn't been enough coverage
00:35:10of this case at all yep that is right people to worry about that damn oj simpson and los angeles
00:35:16and all that crap give us any attention he definitely definitely did it you know oh so so you would
00:35:21say that there is a legend in this town about the boogie man oh and some would say it's real
00:35:25not made up at all so you would say there's something tangible then something real
00:35:30what you wanted behind the camera there you can ask anyone in this town are you ladies all okay
00:35:37and they'll tell you our parents their parents would say to us if you are naughty boogie man's
00:35:45going to get you and i don't know any other town where they say that nope only there that's right
00:35:52only in the hills the hills have always been strange very strange place i think the general
00:35:58consensus general idea is that something on those wages has always been there that is that is
00:36:04strange well i mean people don't go up there to this day that's a fact you don't raise your face
00:36:10all bull crap but have you done your homework my homework yes homework dear the killings way back
00:36:17when i think you need to get to the library oh and by the way the cops the cops the
00:36:23fbi they've had
00:36:25everything up there honey and nobody found anything nope it's supernatural it's supernatural that's
00:36:33right thank you colleen think of the marks and the victims that ain't you here to cleanse our sins
00:36:45mostly women so far i don't seem to care what men do cleanse our sins that's right that's what
00:36:51my gramps used to say we don't know what sin sarah o'reilly oh jennifer no sorry what do you mean
00:36:58by
00:36:58that no about sarah o'reilly and her sins i don't know don't mind me get acid and what do you
00:37:07think
00:37:07about it excuse me um candy is that is that your name i don't know you don't know don't try
00:37:14to get to
00:37:15you know oh come on you know we're right oh can i take a piece of apple pie thanks candy
00:37:24really thank you so much i hope we've been some assistance i'm in there hey if you want a real
00:37:31ride you should try the lady fortune tell mr canna she'll tell you some real crazy theories yeah she's
00:37:39down by the garage she hasn't yeah she has a weird old practice down by the garage go see her
00:37:45if you
00:37:45want a good time okay but thank you ladies so much for your time i just have one last question
00:37:51are you scared at all of the boogeyman you know that he might come after you honey when you get
00:37:58to my age
00:37:59nothing scared anymore so many sins they'd have killed me three times over
00:38:11meeting the ladies in the cafe shed some new light on what the town's perception was in regards to the
00:38:15boogeyman it also tied in with what maizey winters said and that voice that spoke to her this idea that
00:38:21the boogeyman is here in this town to cleanse sins via punishment i decided to interview passers-by
00:38:27in the town to try and get an idea of what they thought the boogeyman was to them yeah well
00:38:31that's
00:38:32probably what's killing them not our cougar my mom used to say to me when i was younger be a
00:38:38good girl
00:38:38or the boogeyman will come and get you yeah exactly the boogeyman if you're a bad girl no the boogeyman
00:38:46will get you yeah exactly the boogeyman will get you you only hear that in mitchin or maybe nearby but
00:38:51i
00:38:51don't think so i heard it's like a yeti i mean this town's always had a lot of crazy things
00:38:58going
00:38:58on you know over the years we call it the boogeyman that's probably what's killing everyone around here
00:39:05that
00:39:09or the cougars weird happens there you should get out while you can it's freaking me out it freaks a
00:39:16lot
00:39:16of people out and we're all worried and we don't know we don't know what's going on we don't know
00:39:20who's
00:39:20doing it the ridges are weird they gotta agent orange that man don't laugh i'm serious the town's
00:39:29weird you gotta get out get out now when talking to the locals they seem to be quite well versed
00:39:34on
00:39:35the boogeyman and his legend things i still need to do find out what jennifer meant about sarah o'reilly's
00:39:40sins try and get an interview with the police go to the library interview with maizey winters again
00:39:47maybe not in that order okay viewers just to give you a heads up i've been to the library and
00:39:53i may
00:39:54have found something in 1924 a woman was attacked in the town of mitchin but she managed to flee
00:40:00she had strange markings all over her body some say were similar to raccoon bites the attack happened here
00:40:06on the ridge maybe i should tell the police about this it could help with their investigation i'd
00:40:14oh shit another attack in 1905 strange markings but
00:40:24there doesn't seem to be any other correlation i
00:40:29maybe it passed over
00:40:33the hell is who the hell is that okay i'm i'm gonna find out who it is
00:40:43um
00:40:43okay ma'am uh sarah okay um do you mind if i film you no i'm no i don't mind
00:40:49it's um yeah yeah i
00:40:50like it you know i want to be in the movies in the movies yeah you
00:40:55i was walking down main street the other night which should be cordoned off or or there should be a
00:41:01curfew or something by the way and it was dark and i i'm certain that someone was following me
00:41:08like it was dark and i turned around and i i'm sure that i saw a dark shadow and then
00:41:13i went back to
00:41:15my house and there was there was someone in my yard and the dog's barking and i'm i'm freaking out
00:41:19guys like is this thing back or i mean because i feel like they come back to finish what they
00:41:23didn't
00:41:24than this before i'm i'm so sorry that you had to experience that there's there's multiple things
00:41:31it could be i oh yeah like one of them being that i'm a nut job no no not at
00:41:36all i know i sound crazy
00:41:40but don't you think it's weird that kurt cobain died this year
00:41:44kurt cobain yeah not i mean not an avarna fan i i i like hip-hop life is
00:41:51fucking meaningless it's just like given and then just taken away we actually we actually meant
00:41:59to contact you we went down to the cafe and don't get offended when i say this but the ladies
00:42:04in there
00:42:04said that you might be a sinful person like you might be a sinner or something i mean it was
00:42:10quite
00:42:10it was quite funny when when it happened at the time but but do you know what they may have
00:42:15meant by
00:42:15that well those damn ladies honestly um i mean they've got nothing else better to do than just
00:42:21talk and and drink coffee in that place all day i mean yeah i know what they're on about you
00:42:26might as
00:42:26well know you know the musician guy who got killed ben holmes right yeah uh well i mean yeah they
00:42:35are
00:42:36correct it's not exactly relevant i used to go to mazer's a lot and that's where he played guitar so
00:42:44we
00:42:44started seeing each other on the regular seeing each other yeah seeing each other jesse oh do you
00:42:50want me to go into more oh no no no no sorry i i understand who else knows about this
00:42:56uh i mean
00:42:58everyone seems to be talking about it you know i broke it off before the killings but everyone
00:43:03keeps looking at me like i'm some fucking whore of the town can i ask why you broke it off
00:43:10yeah you can but i don't like to speak ill of the dead i mean he's he's just a regular
00:43:16musician
00:43:18schmuck you know if you think that i was the only girl that he was with you'd be wrong i
00:43:24mean he was
00:43:25with a list of girls as long as my arm and he's not even he's not even hot he's just
00:43:29from out of town
00:43:31and and i know he's older so like we all learned when he played the guitar and well he could
00:43:38get us
00:43:38pot so do you know anyone else that he was seeing like personally or i mean i don't know everything
00:43:47is chinese whispers why do i feel like i'm being interrogated what makes you think that
00:43:54oh my god you think you think that i killed him you think that i know you think that i'm
00:44:00one of
00:44:00the killers sarah i never said well okay i well i need to get out of here you're a fucking
00:44:04crazy
00:44:05bitch you know i had your back when everyone in the town was hating on you and i think i
00:44:10came here
00:44:10for for help i mean can you believe that means help sarah i do not think that sarah wait oh
00:44:15fuck
00:44:21fuck okay everybody those two fuckers aren't the only people who can put shit to camera
00:44:26so here i am
00:44:32okay there is there is definitely somebody following me here there's no doubt
00:44:42okay i've i've deliberately taken you around the ridges to try and lure whatever it is that's
00:44:48following me here i assume it's home territory i am not scared do you hear me
00:45:00oh
00:45:01oh
00:45:03oh
00:45:03oh
00:45:04oh
00:45:06oh
00:45:33this project this place it's something that strikes a personal chord i'm not just doing it
00:45:40to get away when i was nine years old my cousin went missing she was riding on her tricycle on
00:45:47the front lawn and all of a sudden vanished i know you shouldn't have family favorites but
00:45:55she was just the cutest little thing we searched and searched until they found her body half a mile
00:46:02away it's never been concluded what exactly happened to her but an autopsy stated that she
00:46:08had been hit by a large moving vehicle this is what the injuries aligned with it was as if the
00:46:14body was just taken there to dump it maybe a hit and run they tried to dispose of the evidence
00:46:20and
00:46:20got scared i don't know i just want these sick fucks to realize that they won't get away with it
00:46:27the truth will always come out in this mean world it's always the vulnerable that gets hurt first
00:46:56what i was saying about the potential of there being two murderers is an interesting concept and
00:47:00one that should not be overlooked one thing that is sure enough is that the more i delve into this
00:47:05the more complicated it becomes i've decided to go to the police with excerpts that i found about a
00:47:11similar case dating back a century honestly it's as if this is some kind of tradition
00:47:16why though is it only this decade that it has become so prevalent so violent
00:47:21maizey winters has helpfully agreed to do another interview which i will also do once we hit the
00:47:25cops with us
00:47:32sir sir okay sure yeah no problem good good thank you oh my what did i tell you people get
00:47:42the hell
00:47:43out of here before i have to drag you out i just need two minutes of your time okay i
00:47:47have some
00:47:47information that might be relevant to the case what what could you possibly have to show me young
00:47:52lady if you could just take a look at these sir they're similar cases recorded from years ago
00:47:56one from the 20s and one from the 19th century how could they possibly be related huh
00:48:04give it now get out of here oh hand it over to homicide it's all external
00:48:12around thank you you be careful though while you go around homicide may come and find you instead
00:48:23hey everyone as thomas isn't with us anymore my sister has come to help out for the day
00:48:27hey guys are you excited yeah i can't wait why do i put all the tapes in the box
00:48:42thank you for joining us today that's no problem oh do you know where this is going to be showing
00:48:47it like on abc or something i don't know we're definitely trying to get more traction with it
00:48:51that's for sure oh don't mind me if my beeper goes off my pager my parents got it for me
00:48:57for safety
00:48:58uh yeah no of course that's absolutely fine yeah so why do you guys want to ask me this time
00:49:04well we we basically just wanted to ask you about the legend of the boogeyman itself you know um
00:49:09since you're the first one who brought our attention to it and just specifically what
00:49:15your attacker actually said to you okay we were talking to one of the ladies down at the cafe uh
00:49:20jennifer and michelle's brother drace well first of all drace is a psycho so i wouldn't listen to
00:49:24anything that he says i should know i went to school with the guy uh the the local school yeah
00:49:28maryland
00:49:29total shithole but anyway like i was saying before nobody really knows where the legend came from it's just
00:49:36one of those things where people say there's that buggy and it's going to punish you for your sins or
00:49:41if you've sinned too much or whatever but just like everything else that people say in this town is
00:49:46probably bullshit we also wanted to ask you about the ridges see all the attacks just seem to happen
00:49:52on the one side yeah don't you think it's strange that nobody's like tried to do more
00:49:58what do you mean more i mean it's always been cordoned off they've had curfews fbi dogs works
00:50:05i mean whoever's doing shit up there probably doesn't live there well except for bruce do you
00:50:11think he might know anything more about the logistics of the killings even if he's not
00:50:14the killer i don't know i mean you'd have to ask him yourself
00:50:22shit my parents only beep like this when it's serious does that tv work uh yeah yeah we should
00:50:27turn it on we need to watch the news okay no not that channel we need a local news
00:50:33for the town of mitchin a young woman has been found murdered near the center of the town
00:50:38the town has confirmed the victim is a woman in her twenties sarah oh my god
00:50:44oh my god she warned us about this i can't believe this is very not to mention the cases four
00:50:51years prior daniel what on earth is going on in that town good question cassie i don't know what's
00:50:58stranger the murders or the authorities lack of ability to put a halt to it i'm wondering if the local
00:51:03police are incompetent or indifferent oh the camera's running out of battery we need to put it on
00:51:09something okay i'll recharge is it clear that law enforcement agencies are not required to provide
00:51:14protection to the citizens who are forced to pay the police for their services
00:51:22is it on yeah i'm good
00:51:34do you think we should go outside see what's going on i mean that's not really advisable
00:51:41they'll already have an emergency curfew on and no offense but if they see you walking around with
00:51:45that camera kit they'll kick out a mention for good you know i reckon you should just stay here if
00:51:50it's okay with you i might stay here until i get another beep because it might not be safe out
00:51:54there
00:51:54yeah yeah of course of course you can stay cool well hopefully this will all get sorted out soon but
00:52:02in the meantime i come bearing gifts do you guys smoke very occasionally do you think that's a good
00:52:10idea with all the the cops around i'm sure they have bigger things to worry about a little bit of
00:52:15plop
00:52:16and i don't know about you guys but this whole thing's making me really anxious so and this is
00:52:21basically the only thing that stops me from losing it we'd have to turn the camera off though oh yeah
00:52:27yeah sure okay it's off okay well in that case here we go
00:52:45so good are you sure you don't want some yeah no i'm good thank you
00:52:53more for us so how do you guys like save all that you know the tapes and stuff
00:53:02well i don't know we basically make sure that we have enough tapes to always go around you know
00:53:07in case you run out and we keep them in that box over there and um well the same goes
00:53:12for batteries
00:53:12you know you gotta you gotta have batteries oh my god you know what i wonder oh that's
00:53:22that's quite a strong grip you have there yeah i mean i used to play shot put in school
00:53:28i wonder what is the word gonna be like in the next millennia in the in the in the next
00:53:34century
00:53:35well it um it can't be any worse than this right mm-hmm no but seriously like i really hope
00:53:41that we're all
00:53:41just so busy with our flying cars our skateboards from that what's that film called back to the
00:53:48future that's the one back to the future i love that film so like i hope we're all just super
00:53:52busy
00:53:52with our flying cars and skateboards they're too busy to fight and hopefully there'll be no wars you
00:53:58know and stuff yeah i gotta get there no prejudice opportunity for all yeah ozone layer oh my god have
00:54:03you heard of waco or wacko whatever it is yeah yeah yeah i have hmm interesting
00:54:14oh okay no curfew's been called so i should be getting home before it gets dark
00:54:21i suggest you guys get your groceries before they because they will call a curfew so oh thank you
00:54:29i i hope i've been helpful if you have any more questions just yeah call me will do thank you
00:54:35thank
00:54:35you so much maizie no problem thank you you keep that so it's been a day since the murder of
00:54:42sarah o'reilly
00:54:43and honestly i'm just still trying to get my head around it i mean obviously i can't shake this feeling
00:54:50of guilt she she came to me asking for help and i i didn't help her
00:54:58anyway the the police have they've been informed that she was in touch with me obviously prior to this
00:55:05and i'm trying to be as cooperative as i can they asked for all of the footage from her interview
00:55:11with
00:55:12me and now i have to stay in mitchin indefinitely in case i am called in for questioning honestly it's
00:55:18as if i'm a suspect sarah's parents won't talk to me and apparently they want me out of town
00:55:27i don't know it just feels like since i got here trying to resolve a murder i've ended up making
00:55:31way
00:55:31more enemies than friends i just i don't understand how anyone could think i have anything to do with
00:55:38murder that happened before i even got here i mean i know i know i sound crazy
00:55:56so uh like are we gonna be on like tv or life is
00:56:00fucking meaningless it's just like given and then just taken away
00:56:15so the police are now actually also saying that i'm not allowed to interview anyone
00:56:19anymore obviously i don't think they have the power to do this they don't have the power to do
00:56:24it and i will still be carrying out the interviews the next one however i'm pretty
00:56:30hesitant about it's with this woman that jennifer from the cafe recommended uh mystic hannah i don't
00:56:37know i'm obviously still gonna do it but it's probably more just to humor myself and add some
00:56:42dimension to the documentary yeah i'm i'm just gonna try and interview as many people as possible
00:56:49before the police literally out me from here i mean i seem to be the only outlaw that anyone is
00:56:55actually interested in prosecuting i also finally after many many many attempts in the phone book
00:57:01i finally managed to get through to that musician's mother she doesn't actually live in mitchin but
00:57:06she's agreed to do an interview at a confidential and neutral location so i'm i'm really hopeful that
00:57:12she's going to help me you know unpick the events of that day in 1990 and put some pieces of
00:57:17this
00:57:18convoluted puzzle back together
00:57:48miss holmes thank you so much for coming to the interview i really appreciate it thank you
00:57:54if i could just ask you in relation to ben's murder do you have any idea who may or may
00:57:59not
00:57:59have been involved with it to be honest nobody does sorry is that am i answering this correctly

00:58:15time that is absolutely fine mrs holmes oh you can call me cassie yeah um well we've been trying to
00:58:25understand to ascertain why our child was killed he was from out of town but he obviously had a
00:58:34connection with mitchin due to his work and the people there would you would you say he was close
00:58:40with the people in mitchin he was close with a lot of people you know you see my son was

00:59:31so does that does that mean that you haven't told anyone else about this well i did i didn't think
00:59:37it
00:59:37was relevant because he do you know if maizey knew that your son was also seeing sarah o'reilly
00:59:46i don't know i'm sorry i i i really don't know it's it's okay one one last question was your

01:01:11what you think about them and who you think the murderer might be so you want to know who the
01:01:17murderer is i have been asked this question a few times always the same answer
01:01:30they're close you and a man are also close what do you mean like like we're close to solving the
01:01:39case
01:01:40or close to the murderer strength surprising strength what do you mean by that i'm it's
01:01:49it's residual what is the clues of what is happening you're on the right path residual okay
01:01:59please i'm trying to okay sorry you know yeah sorry triangles triangles of love oh geez
01:02:09please please don't interrupt it's very important triangles
01:02:18two triangles once attached but now separate
01:02:23you are running from one of them and the other
01:02:32the other triangle
01:02:37the other triangle is
01:02:41it's what you're looking for
01:02:49shit hannah are you okay you look kind of shocked there um i'm okay uh i just need to be
01:02:56alone
01:02:57for a little while to recalibrate but what about the beating i what about the other i'm sorry please
01:03:02leave i'm sorry can you can you just turn the camera off thank you okay but okay you you take
01:03:08time
01:03:08time to collaborate but maybe another time
01:03:17be careful
01:03:22okay um okay thank you thank you hannah um you too
01:03:36maizey winters i mean there's motive obviously nothing said in stone but
01:03:43the triangle the love triangle and i keep remembering how how sarah said that her attacker was just dragging
01:03:51her up the hill and i mean obviously initially i just i assumed it was a guy but now i'm
01:03:57just
01:03:57remembering how strong maizey's grip was i mean obviously this is just me thinking out loud maybe
01:04:03maybe i'm going crazy
01:04:07anyway i i'm gonna try and go to the forest tonight i just i need to see the area for
01:04:11myself i need to scan it
01:04:14obviously just being careful with the whole curfew thing i just need to see the spot where sarah was
01:04:20murdered still can't believe how accessible the bodies were especially after after everything that's
01:04:28happened i mean god people here are just they're just assholes no one even wants to help
01:05:01you guys you can't stay here you gotta leave the heat's too much yeah i know the cops told me
01:05:08the same
01:05:08thing but you got two days two days i'll return your deposit and then finger the loop but no this
01:05:16isn't my problem what excuse oh my god okay so i decided to come into the woods on my way
01:05:26home
01:05:26i just i want to see the area for myself you know scope it out a little bit i'm gonna
01:05:30do a kind of
01:05:30patrolling okay okay so i'm now in the area where the police tape was i still can't believe how accessible
01:05:37the bodies were i'm just gonna make sure that i'm home before curfew did you hear that
01:05:47okay i heard something i'm gonna pan the camera
01:05:53that's why i got the damn shotgun
01:05:59they were kissing
01:06:03okay okay i gotta get home i've gotta get home right now
01:06:09guys my tapes my fucking tapes have been stolen and so many items have been destroyed i don't know
01:06:13i don't know how someone got in here okay they must have access because there's been no evidence
01:06:17of breaking and entering i also i saw maizey winters talking to the sheriff and now i think that
01:06:24i think she might have something to do with the murders okay there's motive there's a lot of
01:06:29things and i think it was a sheriff that set that gun off i don't think it was bruce
01:06:41crazy was asking about the tapes
01:06:50oh
01:06:51shit
01:06:53rochelle hardman
01:06:55rochelle hardman we
01:06:59We should have been asking Ben's mother about her, not Shelly, because she must have been one of the ex
01:07:04-lovers.
01:07:06She was! Well done!
01:07:11Sorry, I hope I'm not interrupting. I've got a confession to make.
01:07:14Maisie, I should warn you, I'm taping this.
01:07:17I can get in here whenever I like. You probably haven't noticed, because you're too busy making your shit dark.
01:07:23You see, when I saw your ad for interviews for the boogeyman, I made sure that Robert, the landlord...
01:07:28Robbie, come out please!
01:07:30Look, guys, I don't want any trouble, I just...
01:07:35Shut your fucking mouth, you little bitch!
01:07:42Is this thing still on?
01:07:44Where was I?
01:07:46Yeah, I made sure that Robert, the landlord here, gave you the utmost hospitality.
01:07:51Make sure she's tied up tight.
01:08:07Thank you, darling.
01:08:09Am I, uh, gonna see you later?
01:08:11Yeah. You're gonna have to help me clean up.
01:08:15Okay.
01:08:16Okay.
01:08:21God, I love that guy.
01:08:23Poor thing.
01:08:24He's besotted with me.
01:08:26Do anything for me.
01:08:29So?
01:08:30Some of the things that you've been saying are pretty accurate.
01:08:35Although, there were two attackers.
01:08:38I was attacked.
01:08:39That's for sure.
01:08:40Although, I didn't attack Shelley, or Sarah.
01:08:42Well, first time, anyway.
01:08:44But that son of a bitch manslapped.
01:08:47Holmes.
01:08:48Mmm, that was my work.
01:08:49I had to stop.
01:08:51Because of the heat.
01:09:06What?
01:09:07What was that?
01:09:08I don't know.
01:09:08I don't know.
01:09:09I don't know.
01:09:09Why did I do it?
01:09:10I don't know.
01:09:12Call it PTSD from my attack, or just taking advantage of the situation.
01:09:17This fucking world thinks it can attack women wherever it wants.
01:09:20What?
01:09:21Fucking assholes.
01:09:22Yeah.
01:09:23Exactly.
01:09:27So after I killed Ben, I had to leave it.
01:09:29Four years, to be precise.
01:09:30Or the tradition of the boogeyman, or so the sheriff told me.
01:09:33It was his ancestors who started the killings.
01:09:36They created the boogeyman.
01:09:38It was him who fired the shot after Sarah got away, so I knew that he knew who the killer
01:09:44was.
01:09:45Or is.
01:09:48Maybe it was himself.
01:09:50Soon the town will know that the sheriff is also dead.
01:09:52They'll blame that one on you as well.
01:09:54No!
01:09:54Yeah!
01:09:57He was in on it!
01:09:58He helped me cover up the killing of Ben, who he was jealous of.
01:10:02Me and the sheriff had a bit of a thing.
01:10:04I didn't mean to kill Ben.
01:10:06Honestly, I didn't plan it.
01:10:07It was more like a fucking fit of rage.
01:10:10And then I had to cover it up and make it look like the boogeyman.
01:10:23So, here we are.
01:10:25Four years later.
01:10:28I killed Rochelle because I knew she was seeing Ben behind my back.
01:10:33And then I finished Sarah off because she was just such a fucking cunt.
01:10:38Ugh.
01:10:39I do wonder who attacked her first.
01:10:41It's so weird to think there's a real boogeyman out there.
01:10:44You know?
01:10:45Walking around.
01:10:48It's funny.
01:10:50How he tried to kill me.
01:10:52And he dragged me up that hill.
01:10:54Huh.
01:10:56After a while, I sort of started admiring him.
01:10:58Ooh!
01:10:59I made these!
01:11:06Oh, they're so cool.
01:11:09You're gonna love this.
01:11:10Here, look.
01:11:13Look!
01:11:15Like the claws.
01:11:18Like Freddy fucking Krueger.
01:11:19Am I right?
01:11:20You have been very, very bad.
01:11:29You're probably wondering why I'm still filming.
01:11:33Don't worry.
01:11:34It's just for me.
01:11:36For now.
01:11:38Hm.
01:11:39Okay.
01:11:40Time to die.
01:11:40Run!
01:11:41Run out!
01:11:43Run out!
01:11:44Oh, no!
01:11:47Oh, no!
01:11:47Oh, no!
01:11:47Go away!
01:11:48Uh!
01:11:54Hey!
01:11:55Yeah.
01:11:56Oh.
01:11:58Yeah.
01:12:00Uh.
01:12:04Huh.
01:12:05Uh.
01:12:07Uh.
01:12:26Two documentarians have gone missing thought to be on the run for the murder of a sheriff
01:12:30in Michon, Arlen County, as well as the murder of up-and-coming actress Sarah O'Reilly
01:12:35and town local Rochelle Harmon. Tell me, what has been your experience?
01:12:40Well, they asked me loads of questions and they mentioned Sarah O'Reilly a lot.
01:12:48It's really twisted how they left the bodies out in the open for everyone to see.
01:12:52That's some fucked up shit.
01:12:54Now, do you think these attackers are the same attackers that attacked you four years ago?
01:13:01I don't know. Could there be another?
01:13:07Could there be another? Back to you in the studio.
01:13:13Okay, so this is totally rad, but we are actually headed towards the area where a few of the murders
01:13:19happened on the news here in Michon.
01:13:21So, a few documentarians have been on the case already, but knowing me, I wanted to get in on the
01:13:27action.
01:13:27But I have to be super careful, as I am female and I don't want to bait anything.
01:13:33If not today, maybe another day.
01:13:35Who knows?
01:13:36So, I think the murders happened around...
01:13:41Oh my god, did you guys hear that?
01:13:46It was probably some wildlife or something.
01:13:50Anyway, as you can see, the woodland is super dense around here, which definitely cooperates with...
01:13:57Oh my...
01:13:59Oh my god.
01:14:00Holy...
01:14:00Holy fuck.
01:14:02Oh my god.
01:14:03Oh my god.
01:14:04Oh no, please.
01:14:05No.
01:14:05No.
01:14:06No.
01:14:07No.
01:15:12Breaking news today again in Michin.
01:15:15Maisie Winters has been found murdered near the town center four years after she was initially attacked.
01:15:21Just behind me, you can see there's police tape all around.
01:15:25There are reports saying the two documentarians are still suspects and the police have managed to capture and arrest Thomas
01:15:33Wajowski, who vows his innocence, as well as the innocence of his partner, Jesse Heidi, whom he says he hasn't
01:15:41seen since he left the documentary.
01:16:02I'm getting involved in this project for the sole purpose of clearing my sister's name.
01:16:07Maisie Winters does not know that I made copies of the tapes.
01:16:11Thanks.
01:16:24Thanks.
01:16:26Thanks.
01:16:27Thanks.
01:16:39Thanks.
01:16:42Thanks.
01:16:46Thanks.
01:16:56Thanks.
01:16:59Thanks.
01:17:01Thanks.
01:17:05Thanks.
01:17:07Thanks.
01:17:08Thanks.
01:17:09Thanks.
01:17:09Thanks.
01:17:11Thanks.
