00:01For 25 years, the Henry Ford Awards has recognized memories of the Philippine Motoring Media, including their work, professionalism, and
00:11impact of the automotive industry.
00:13On its special milestone year, the HFA honors a legend, dedicated to the memory and legacy of Ray Butch Gumbola,
00:23the Kappa of Philippine Motoring Germans.
00:26We introduce the HFA's most exclusive and best-in-law, the Butch Gumbola Lifetime Achievement Award.
00:35Our assistant boasts a distinguished career, spending more than four decades at one of the country's leading areas, the Manila
00:44Bulletin.
00:45She evolved from covering multiple meets, to steering loose new operations as a citizen of America.
00:51This came to win for her, to become the billionaire founder of the premier border travel magazine, Cruising.
00:59And since 2013, she is also a fierce and unyielding advocate for world safety.
01:06As president of the Society of Philippine Motoring Germans, she is a true member of the community.
01:14Someone who reflects the values which the full-life champion throughout his life.
01:19A true journalist who imagines the spirit of journalism excellence, professionalism, and impact.
01:25This award was created to honor. She didn't just cut up the dirt. She paid the loan for every journalist,
01:33Gumbola.
01:34The recipient of the Wichgumbola Lifetime Achievement Award, Cecilia McGeef Archibald.
01:42Thank you!
01:44Thank you!
01:46Thank you!
01:47Thank you!
02:15So, we're not here to do any special videos on my side, we're here because the mechanical
02:21And the 34 awards committee asked me to give a tribute to Ma'am TV for being the recipient of
02:30the first award, this time, the 3rd award.
02:34Now, I do not need no one to say when I walked up here, I've never worked for Ma'am
02:39TV, so I'm surprised I was asked.
02:41And I've been doing this for 20 years, Ma'am TV has been doing this for 40+.
02:53But the more they sat under the thought about it, the more it started to become natural.
03:00The didn't even watch Harry Potter.
03:03Rejax?
03:04Rejax.
03:05Rejax.
03:06If the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizarding had been Professor McGonagall,
03:11we have, in the modeling industry, Ma'am TV for the models.
03:17Ma'am TV is our first deposit.
03:20Now, she helped us get through this motoring life.
03:25She helped keep us stable.
03:26She showed us an example of hard work, of edits, of being welcoming to the younger motoring journalists, especially myself,
03:35Nigo, and many others.
03:36So, I would like to thank Ma'am TV.
03:41Congratulations on this Lifetime Achievement Award, Ma'am TV, and congratulations on your retirement.
03:47You did spend a lifetime earning all of this.
03:52And through your example, us, your students, we learned a lot.
03:56And I hope Daddy Butch is proud to have his friend be the first to take the award in his
04:03name.
04:11Thank you guys.
04:12Now to present the special award is Mr. Pedro Simoish, President and Managing Director for Philippines.
04:27Ladies and gentlemen, the 25th of every four awards, Butch Gamboa Lifetime Achievement Awardee,
04:34Miss Vicky Kupcha Kupinaris.
04:44We did even say that I really want to be something like this.
04:49They told me that I was nominated and I would come here and perhaps there were five other people in
04:57me who were nominated.
04:58So, I really specifically say that it's this.
05:01Thank you very much. It is such an honor to be given the first Ruch Gamboa Lifetime Achievement Awardee.
05:10Thank you very much. It is such an honor to be given the first Ruch Gamboa Lifetime Achievement Awardee.
05:13Many ladies, we thank Cardo, for reminding me and insisting this morning,
05:19to please write something just in case my wind is the right thing.
05:24No one, I can't tell you, but please write something just in case.
05:28So I prepared a little something to my colleagues in the world through the community and especially for the Philippines
05:37for bringing us together, good evening.
05:40And to those who nominated me for the Lifetime Achievement Award, thank you very much.
05:48This award is very significant to me because it is named to celebrate the life of Butch Caboa, who I
05:57have the privilege of being there.
06:00To those who have joined the opening committee after Butch Caboa, it is a pity that we cannot get to
06:09know this man.
06:21Butch Caboa, as the others have said, had admitted watery journalism to the heights and categories of literature and integrity.
06:35Butch had taught, know, guided us to learn many lessons in college, from good manners and right conduct, to writing
06:47style, to ethics, even on how to dress for an occasion.
06:54Butch set the example on etiquette 2. It was always pamphlet, never raised his voice, and didn't get into an
07:05argument.
07:07Tonight, I stand here honored and humbled by this award made after my dear friend who means so much to
07:16us, motoring journalists.
07:19When I was informed, I felt very honored already. To me, that meant that I would earn a prestigious position
07:32of being a professional.
07:35I am happy that I chose to return to the motoring after I retired from an AWP visiting.
07:44I am an AWP visiting. I am a great covering audience. Motoring, arts and culture, travel and tourism, property and
07:54estate, education, families and national news.
07:58When I moved promoter, executive editor, executive editor years ago. After 20 years, I was moved into a very new
08:11world and moved very fast and had stress as part of the job.
08:17When I retired this month, after 44 years, I did not hesitate to move back to join the motoring team.
08:27This is the bit that holds the most challenges in evaluation and integrity.
08:34I call my state as executive editor. I borrowed identity. Because without the position, I am really lucky. But in
08:44the motoring community, I am something. I am a motoring journalist.
08:50Being chosen for part of my home, the most and possessions that are kind of grateful for the rest of
08:54life, peace and honor. Thank you very much.
09:02Thank you very much. Can you please stay where you are?
09:19You
