00:04The clean and wash hygiene is the second in Dyson's hard floor cleaner range. In my testing I found
00:10it cleared solid and liquid messes with ease, which is all the more impressive given there's
00:14no suction here. Dyson has shifted the dirty water tank into the floor head itself, which means there
00:19are no tubes to get gunked up, although this design change has had a few negative knock-on effects
00:24which might outweigh the positives. Overall it's a solid effort from Dyson. Whether it does enough
00:29to justify its price tag is another thing. So let's get into my full review and if you want to
00:35check
00:35out the best deals on the clean and wash hygiene you'll find all the info you need in the description
00:39box below. The Dyson clean and wash hygiene went on sale in the UK in December 2025 at a list
00:49price of
00:50£429.99. It is due to join the US and Australian lineups sometime this year but I don't know how
00:56much it'll cost yet. Based on UK pricing it might be around 600 US dollars and 850 Australian dollars.
01:02That's in the premium band for a hard floor cleaner and although the build quality is excellent and
01:07plenty of thought has clearly gone into the design, I don't think it does enough to justify the price
01:12tag. Similarly priced cleaners from brands like Tinoco, Bissell and Dreamy offer more advanced features,
01:18so things like dirt detection, automatic setting adjustment and even foam or steam cleaning functions.
01:26Moving on to the design, the Dyson clean and wash hygiene is a lightweight hard floor cleaner with
01:32a handful of interesting features. There's no suction but instead it uses hydration and agitation
01:37to remove dirt from hard flooring. The roller spins at speed and is continually fed with fresh water
01:43as the dirty stuff is scraped off. It can handle mixed solid and liquid spills and to a certain
01:48extent also dust and other dry debris although not as well as a regular stick vacuum would. The roller
01:53is densely packed with fibres to make it as absorbent as possible and Dyson has added wiry bristles that
01:59stick out a bit for extra scrubbing power. There's also an anti-tangle comb behind the roller to prevent
02:05hair wrap. Dyson's floor care products tend to be super easy to manoeuvre but while the clean and wash
02:10hygiene is streamlined in design and pivots smoothly I didn't find it quite as nimble as the Wash G1
02:15which is the model that came before it. I am however impressed that it can lie completely flat to the
02:20ground. There's even a tiny wheel on the back of the handle so you can drive it effortlessly along the
02:25floor in this mode. One big update here is that the dirty water compartment has been integrated into the
02:31floor head itself rather than sitting further up the handle as is more usual. The idea is that because the
02:36dirt has nowhere to really travel there's no tubing to get clogged up. Liquid ends up in a dirty water
02:41tank and solid waste is filtered out into a two-part tray that sits on top. It sounds complicated and
02:47it is. Getting the three parts back together again once you've cleaned them all is quite the puzzle.
02:52In terms of settings there are three hydration levels to choose from and a boost mode to add extra
02:56water for tackling dried on dirt. There are no other special modes such as automated cleaning
03:01adjustment. There's a self-clean cycle that flushes the system with fresh water once you're done mopping
03:06and one major upgrade here is that Dyson has also added a drying mode. Once the roll is clean
03:11the dock blasts out hot air to dry it off and stop things getting musty.
03:18So what's it like to actually use? Pretty good. The roll is saturated fairly quickly without any pre-wetting
03:25and left a very light even sheen of water on my vinyl flooring. It's easy to toggle modes and the
03:30screen spells out remaining cleaning time so you'll never unexpectedly run out of battery.
03:35Because there's no suction it's relatively quiet in operation and the run times are fairly long too
03:39up to 45 minutes per charge. To assess the Dyson clean and wash hygiene's capabilities more closely
03:44I test it out on a range of tricky cleaning challenges. I started with a delicious combination
03:49of soy sauce mixed with oats. It gobbled up all the oats in one forward and backward pass in medium
03:54mode.
03:55Impressive given there's no suction here. I repeated the test on sweet chili sauce with equal
04:00success. I then decided it was time to bring out the big guns. Maple syrup, crunchy peanut butter and
04:06sticky marmite. This time it struggled a bit. I unleashed boost mode and it took about 20 seconds of
04:12back and forth to clear the mess. That's a solid result. This test is purposefully very tricky.
04:17Plus there was no sticky residue left behind. Like every hard floor cleaner I'm aware of this machine is
04:23only suitable for perfectly flat floors. It can't deal with uneven surfaces such as flagstones and it won't get
04:28into the cracks between tiles either. Although it does do a better job of this than some thanks to
04:33the bristles in the roller. Moving on to maintenance. Although I see the logic in keeping all the waste
04:38in the floor head the emptying process does feel unnecessarily fiddly and perhaps because it has
04:44so many component parts the floor head had a tendency to drip or leak dirty water when handled.
04:49Unlike on the Wash G1 you can't get your hand inside the dirty water tank to clean it out either
04:53so over
04:54time that's going to get pretty grimy. The self-clean and self-dry cycle works well. The roller on my
04:59review machine still looks as good as new despite plenty of messy testing. However do note that this
05:05function uses a decent amount of water and the water tanks are on the smaller side. The upshot is that
05:10the
05:10first few times I ran the self-wash cycle it would pause twice mid-clean. First to ask me to
05:15refill the
05:16clean water tank and then again to tell me to empty the dirty water. I'd recommend doing both of these
05:21things beforehand and again afterwards to avoid annoying interruptions.
05:29So should you buy a Dyson clean and wash hygiene? It's a decent hard floor cleaner, it clears solid
05:35and liquid messes effectively, it's relatively quiet in use and the self-dry cycle is a welcome addition
05:40that works well. However the new style floor head is fiddlier and messier than I'd like and the relatively
05:46simple design does little to justify what is quite a high price tag. You can read my full Dyson clean
