01:01Come on.
01:03Hello, everybody!
01:05Oh, I'm looking great, looking great.
01:07Welcome, everybody.
01:08Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Tonight Show.
01:10You're here.
01:11This is it.
01:12That's it.
01:15Well, guys, I'm excited about this.
01:17The crew of NASA's Artemis II Moon Mission is here tonight.
01:20Come on!
01:25They were in space for 10 days and traveled farther than any humans in history.
01:30Yeah.
01:35Meanwhile, there's some people in our crowd thinking,
01:37big deal, I just flew southwest into Newark Airport.
01:39That was...
01:40Talk to me about that.
01:43Let's get to some news.
01:44Well, guys, earlier today, King Charles and Queen Camilla wrapped up their trip to the U.S.
01:49Yeah, it was sweet.
01:49They waved goodbye and opened up their umbrellas and floated away.
01:52It was very...
01:56Some more news from Washington.
01:57The situation in Iran is at a standstill, and President Trump just said that U.S. negotiators
02:02aren't flying 18 hours anymore for peace talks, and instead that they're talking to Iran,
02:06quote, telephonically.
02:13They were communicating telephonically.
02:16Oh, wow.
02:17Yeah.
02:17Anyway...
02:18Uh-oh.
02:19Sorry about this.
02:22Hello?
02:23Hello, Iran.
02:24This is President Trump, and it's time to negotiate.
02:27I'm so sorry.
02:28I think you have the wrong number.
02:30Oh, playing hardball, I see.
02:31Well, that won't work on me, Iran.
02:33Let's make a deal.
02:35If you open the straight, I'll give you Don Jr. and Eric.
02:40Sir, I cannot negotiate with you.
02:42I'll also give you backstage passes to Kid Rock and a passport with my face on it.
02:47No, I can't do it.
02:48I can't do it, sir.
02:49Final offer.
02:50Everything in Kash Patel's liquor cabinet and everything in J.D. Vance's makeup.
02:56Sir, this isn't going to work.
02:58Why?
02:59Because we're doing it telephonically?
03:05No.
03:06If you prefer, we can do it FaceTime-a-logically.
03:10No.
03:11WhatsApp or Snapchat-a-lopically?
03:14No.
03:15Slide into your DMs on Tinder-a-ronically?
03:18No.
03:19Messenger owl from Harry Potter-a-logically?
03:22No, I'm sorry, sir.
03:24I'm hanging up now.
03:25You're meaner than the Pope.
03:26Oh, my God.
03:28What's meaner than the Pope?
03:30What does that mean?
03:33You stopped on crime.
03:36Well, switching gears this weekend is the 152nd Kentucky Derby.
03:40Come on.
03:41Come on.
03:45It airs right here on NBC, and they've got some interesting sponsors this year.
03:49Very interesting.
03:50Take a look.
03:51The 152nd Running of the Kentucky Derby is brought to you by Spirit Airlines.
03:57We're all about bumpy rides that smell like manure.
03:59Waffle House.
04:00Horse tracks aren't the only place where you might get kicked in the head.
04:04Dasani.
04:04You can lead a horse to water, but it still won't drink Dasani.
04:08Trader Joe's.
04:09Our salami sticks aren't not, not, not made of horse.
04:12Nature Valley.
04:13Crunch on some messy oats, you little pony boy.
04:16Nerds gummy clusters, like sugar cubes for people.
04:20Hoka Shoes.
04:21We'll have you clomping around like Seabiscuit.
04:23L'Oreal.
04:24When the horse's hair makes you look chopped.
04:27Ancestry.com.
04:28Or as it's known here in Kentucky, tender.
04:30And of course, Elmer's.
04:33You know why.
04:35That's interesting, right?
04:36I found that interesting.
04:42And finally, this is going viral.
04:44Chanel just debuted their new Soulless Shoes.
04:47This is real.
04:48Take a look.
04:52That's not a shoe.
04:53That's an eyepatch for your foot.
04:55We have a great show.
04:56Give it up for The Roots, everybody.
05:06Oh, come on now.
05:09Thank you, Roots.
05:10Thank you, Roots.

05:30Come on.

06:22The crew of NASA's Artemis II moon mission are here with us tonight.
06:29And we've got great music from Bruce Hornsby.
06:37Bruce Hornsby in the house.
06:38You know, there's so much going on in the world.
06:40Sometimes it's important to just take a step back, I think, and celebrate the little things in life.
06:45Don't you agree?
06:46It's time for a Tonight Show Toast.
06:48Here we go.
06:50Tonight Show Toast.
06:58A toast to The Devil Wears Prada 2.
07:08The first film was a triumph.
07:11Hathaway and Streep are back.
07:13But this time because of the economy, the devil's wearing Nordstrom rack.
07:20Hey, can I do one, Jimmy?
07:21Yes, yes, of course.
07:23Quest lounge.
07:24Okay.
07:25A toast to Mother's Day.
07:26Oh, of course.
07:27Yes, very nice.
07:28You gave me the gift of life.
07:30Something to believe in.
07:32So here's a sine candle because I guess that means we're even.
07:35Oh, that's very nice.
07:37Very good.
07:38You're even with your mouth.
07:39That's very nice.
07:40Oh, Jimmy.
07:42Oh, I have it too.
07:44Oh, yes, of course.
07:45Higgins, please.
07:46By all means, you say.
07:47May I?
07:47Jimmy, to the Kentucky Derby.
07:50Oh, that's right.
07:52Yes, yes, yes.
07:53Yes.
07:54The buildup is so exciting.
07:56The horse run without limits.
07:58And just like me in college, it only lasts two minutes.
08:08My turn, my turn.
08:10Oh, yes, very good.
08:11Tariq?
08:11A toast to AirPods.
08:17So, tiny, sleek, and wireless, your design is very clever.
08:22But one sneeze near a subway grate and it's goodbye AirPods forever.
08:27That's right.
08:29Rather.
08:30Rather.
08:32Yes, yes, yes.
08:34I'll go.
08:34Oh, come on.
08:35Absolutely.
08:36Do a toast.
08:37A toast to what?
08:38A toast to what?
08:39A toast to almond milk.
08:41Oh, yes.
08:41Almond milk.
08:43Almond milk.
08:44You make my coffee taste so great, the case is open and shut.
08:48But I'd hate to be the poor SOB whose job is milking nuts.
08:53Oh, thank you very much.
08:55Thank you for the toast, everyone.
08:56Stick around.
08:57When we come back, we have puppies predicting the Kentucky Derby.
09:02Oh, that's right.
09:13Release the puppies.
09:15Go, babe.
09:27Welcome back, everyone.
09:31The Kentucky Derby is this Saturday on NBC.
09:35Now, usually there's a horse that's a clear favorite, but not this year.
09:39It's nearly impossible to predict the winner.
09:42Well, you guys are in luck, because when it comes to predicting things, we have a secret
09:45weapon, and it's puppies.
09:48That's right.
09:49Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the Puppy Predictors 2026 Kentucky Derby Edition.
10:04Welcome to the Puppy Predictors 2026 Kentucky Derby Edition.
10:08Here's how it works.
10:09First, we have 10 adorable puppies, each representing one of the top 10 horses competing in Saturday's
10:15big race, and one giant trough of kibble.
10:18Whichever puppy crosses the finish line and reaches the trough first will be crowned the
10:23Kentucky Derby winner.
10:24Now, let's meet the puppies.
10:36First, we have Renegade, further ado, Commandment, Chief Wallaby, the Puma, Emerging Market,
10:51so happy, the non-bourbon, Incredibolt, and finally, we have a long shot, Potente.
11:03All right, Potente, you look psyched.
11:05Now, look, did you just wake up for a nap, Potente?
11:09All right, now, listen up.
11:10Potente, stop it.
11:11Listen.
11:12Now, look, I want this to be a clean race.
11:13Hi, but I want this to be a clean race, okay?
11:16I want no, no, no, I know, I know, I know, I love you too, I know.
11:20No wandering, no wandering, no, no peeing, no butt sniffing, got it?
11:26Okay, Roots, whenever you're ready.
11:34Okay, release the puppies!
11:37Go, babe.
11:40Who was it?
11:42Who was it?
11:43Who was it?
11:44What are you doing?
11:45Hi.
11:49Which one?
11:51Come on, come here, bud.
11:52Come on.
11:52There you go, yeah, come on.
11:54Hi.
11:55Hi.
11:57Hi, buddy.
11:59Oh, my goodness.
12:01Can we see that in slow motion?
12:02Who won?
12:05It is the Puma, number five.
12:09The Puma is the winner right there.
12:11You will be crowned the 2026 Kentucky Derby champion.
12:15Enjoy the race, everybody.
12:17Enjoy the race.
12:18Stick around.
12:18We'll be right back with Olivia Rodrigo.
12:20Hi, bud.
12:22Hi, bud.
12:23Hi.
12:24Oh, my gosh.
12:25Congratulations.
12:26That was fantastic.
12:28You're going on tour.
12:29This is gigantic.
12:32Olivia, massive.
12:34Massive tour.
12:35Everyone's going nuts.
12:35It's called the Unraveled tour.
12:37Do we know why yet, or will we find out?
12:39We know why yet, or will we know why yet, or will we know why yet, or will we know
12:48why yet?
12:49We know why yet, or will we know why yet, or will we know why yet, or will we know
12:50why yet?
12:50We know why yet.
12:50Our first guest is one of the biggest artists on the planet.
12:55Her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, comes out June 12th.
13:00She just announced a new tour, and she's the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend.
13:05Everyone, please welcome Olivia Rodrigo!
13:14You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, come on, take it in.
13:28Feel the love.
13:29Oh, my gosh.
13:32Feel the love for Olivia Rodrigo.
13:34That's right!
13:37You're so excited to have you back on our show and back in the building.
13:42Yes.
13:43This is a huge week for you.
13:44You're the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend.
13:48You announced...
13:49I want to talk to you about that.
13:51You're going to be great.
13:52You announced a new tour this morning.
13:54Yep.
13:56And you made history on Monday with your new single, Drop Dead.
14:01Congratulations on this.
14:05Drop Dead went to number one.
14:08You became the first artist in history to debut their first three lead singles at number one.
14:13Congratulations.
14:14That's what I'm talking about.
14:15What are you talking about?
14:17How fun?
14:17Yeah!
14:19I'm a very lucky girl.
14:20Thank you so much for having me on the show.
14:22I love coming.
14:22Oh, please.
14:22Now, you said that the song is the first chapter to your new album.
14:27What is it setting up?
14:28Yeah.
14:29I mean, the song is basically about a really awesome first date,
14:31and so I always kind of knew that I wanted to be the first step in the journey of
14:35You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, so the journey definitely ebbs and flows
14:38and goes in lots of different places from here, but this is the first chapter.
14:42Your first two albums were Sour and Guts.
14:46Were you tempted to have this be a four-letter album?
14:49You know what?
14:49I always knew it wasn't going to be four letters.
14:52Yeah, right?
14:52I just think I wanted to just break out.
14:53You want to be stuck.
14:54Yeah, I didn't want to be stuck in it, but yeah.
14:56I love the title of the album.
14:58You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.
15:00Yeah.
15:01It's beautiful.
15:01Thank you, yeah.
15:03I knew that I wanted this record to be about romantic love in more of a positive sense
15:07because I think my last two, obviously, were a little heartbroken and angsty,
15:10as they should be, and so I knew I wanted to write some kind of love songs,
15:13but I also wanted to inject them with a little bit of sadness and longing
15:16and, you know, melancholy, because those are all of my favorite love songs.
15:20What are your favorite sad love songs?
15:22Ooh, like Love Song by The Cure or video games by Lana Del Rey.
15:28What are yours, Dumi?
15:30God, I mean, I listen to nothing but sad love songs.
15:35I love all of them.
15:36My friend and I, I got this Bee Gees box set when I was in high school,
15:40and I split it with my dad.
15:42So he played Half-I-Pair.
15:44We had the three-CD set, and we would just get together and listen to sad songs,
15:48me and my best friend, in high school, and just every and harmonized with the Bee Gees.
15:52Oh, my God, that's amazing.
15:53Yeah.
15:54I love that image.
15:55Yeah, which kind of led to probably me doing the Barry Gave Talk show,
15:58but that's, it all happens.
16:00There's inspiration everywhere.
16:02I heard there's a song on this record that's inspired by Miranda and Steve from Sex and the City.
16:06Yeah, there's actually multiple songs that are inspired by Miranda and Steve.
16:09Miranda!
16:10Yeah.
16:10Miranda!
16:12Miranda!
16:12Miranda!
16:14Well, I love Miranda and Steve.
16:15I know.
16:16Why, how are the, how?
16:19Yeah, it's my favorite show.
16:21I love Sex and the City.
16:21I think I've watched, like, every episode maybe three times,
16:23but there's this, like, when Miranda and Steve are getting back together,
16:26she's crying, and she's like,
16:27Steve, anytime something funny happens, I just want to tell you.
16:30And I remember watching that and being like,
16:31Oh, my God, I have to write a song about this.
16:32That's a great line.
16:34I know.
16:35Yeah.
16:36All right, good, so we do it, so next time you come,
16:38we'll decide which song was inspired by them.
16:40This morning, you announced you're going on tour.
16:42Yeah.
16:42This is gigantic.
16:45Olivia, massive.
16:46Massive tour, everyone's going nuts.
16:48It's called the Unraveled Tour.
16:50Yes.
16:50Do we know why yet, or will we find out?
16:52We'll find out soon, we'll find out soon.
16:53I can't give too much away, but I'm really excited.
16:55I've been working so hard on it,
16:56and I'm just, like, so stoked to play these songs live.
16:58The ticket presale starts on May 5th.
17:01Tickets go on sale May 7th at oliviarodrigo.com.
17:04This weekend, we get to see you perform on SNL,
17:08host and musical guest.
17:09I'm so happy because Vampire is one of my favorite performances
17:12when you did that live on SNL.
17:15You were just amazing.
17:16But now you want to do Double Duty.
17:17Yeah, I'm so, so excited.
17:19It's always been a huge dream of mine,
17:20and so I'm so grateful that Lauren let me do it,
17:23and just, like, getting to be there
17:24with all of the funniest people on the planet
17:27and just, like, having fun and just, like,
17:29making jokes all day.
17:30It's literally a dream, and I'm just so honored.
17:32We heard the buzz already.
17:33Everyone's, like, loving you upstairs.
17:34They're, like, she's the greatest.
17:36Do you have any tips for me, Jimmy?
17:37Ah, enjoy it, obviously.
17:39No, I always feel like the end of Siren Live,
17:41at the end when you're saying goodnight
17:42and you're hugging, that always hit me.
17:45That was sad, a sad love story for me
17:47because you can't go back.
17:49You can't do it twice.
17:50You can't do it again.
17:51That's the last time you're ever going to do that sketch,
17:53and, like, you feel like you want to do it one more time,
17:55but you don't have that any more time.
17:57That's it.
17:58That show is it, and it's, like, done,
17:59but you're, like, we don't know all the lines.
18:01We have the costumes.
18:02We have the wardrobe.
18:03Right.
18:03You're, like, nope, this is it.
18:04Enjoy it.
18:05Be present.
18:05Live in the moment.
18:06It's perfect the way it is.
18:08Yeah.
18:08Yeah, and you're going to crush it.
18:09You know, it's going to be great.
18:11You actually got left a note, I heard, from...
18:14Oh, my gosh, yes, I did.
18:15This morning, like, literally an hour ago.
18:17I was, I love Jack White.
18:19He is, like, my hero.
18:20Who does not love Jack White?
18:22He's the best.
18:22He's rock and roll.
18:25He is badass.
18:26I love him.
18:27Wonderful person.
18:28Always stands up for what's right.
18:29He really does.
18:30I totally agree with you.
18:31But I was, like, on the phone with him the other day.
18:33I was, like, oh, my God, I'm going to, you know, host SNL.
18:35He's, like, I'm going to leave a note in your dressing room.
18:36I was, like, ha, ha, okay, funny.
18:38Like, I feel like I've maybe said that to someone, too,
18:40and, like, never done it.
18:41And he sent me a text.
18:43He's, like, look up.
18:45Like, keep your head up.
18:46You're going to find something.
18:47I was tearing apart the SNL dressing room.
18:50I was, like, taking the ceiling tiles off.
18:51I was, like, you left me something in here.
18:53We actually have video.
18:54Yeah, yeah, yeah.
18:55Finding Jack White's note in the dressing room.
18:56Take a look.
18:57This is what's it.
18:58No, she knocked me.
18:59Please.
19:00Hey.
19:02Take SNL.
19:03No, no, no.
19:05Can you find it?
19:06Oh, my God!
19:12Oh.
19:18Isn't that sweet?
19:20Isn't that sweet?
19:21He's the best.
19:22Yeah, he's the best.
19:23That's my little, like, good luck charm.
19:25And can you tell us what you will be performing on Saturday Night Live?
19:27Yeah, I'm going to be singing Drop Dead and then a brand new one that no one has heard.
19:31Yes!
19:33Cannot wait for that.
19:34I know you have to get back up to SNL.
19:36Thank you so much for coming by.
19:37We love you so much.

19:53In a black trench
20:04Our next guest is an Emmy-winning writer, actor, and producer
20:08who created and stars in the new series Half Man,
20:11which airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on HBO and HBO Max.
20:15Please welcome Richard Gad!
20:25Come on!
20:27That's what I'm talking about!
20:29Come on, now!
20:32Hi, my friend. Welcome back to the show.
20:35Oh, thank you. Thank you. Thanks for having me.
20:36It's great to see you again.
20:37Last time you were here, we were talking about Baby Reindeer.
20:40Uh, which is your show and your creation
20:42and it was just starting to get buzz
20:44and then everyone was talking about it
20:46and now I can say proudly
20:48you are a three-time Emmy winner, Richard Gad.
20:52That's what I'm talking about!
20:54Come on!
20:55It's, uh, that's quite, uh, quite a suggestive picture
20:57you've got there.
20:58Yes, you in the kilt there spread out and stuff.
21:01Quite, quite a lot of knee.
21:02Yes, a lot of you, yeah.
21:04This is, this is a pretty good album cover, by the way.
21:06This is pretty good if you ever want to release an album.
21:07Keep that one in mind.
21:08Why not, yeah.
21:10Uh, I went, last time when you came on the show
21:11to talk about Baby Reindeer,
21:12I know we had, I think, Ariana Grande and Ron Howard here
21:16and they all came up to you
21:18and they were like,
21:18we love the show, Richard Boe,
21:20and you were like,
21:21I can't believe Ariana Grande knows the show.
21:23Yeah.
21:23I mean, I, I think she's,
21:24she said she'd watched it about four times,
21:26which, um, I couldn't, I couldn't actually believe.
21:29It was crazy.
21:29Does it freak you out?
21:30It's, it's mad.
21:31I mean, the, the, the thing that just surprises me
21:34is just how many people have watched that.
21:35I think within the first eight weeks,
21:37over 80 million people watched the show.
21:39Yes.
21:39And I, I sort of.
21:41Amazing.
21:42I mean, it's crazy.
21:43And then it means that pretty much everywhere I go,
21:46I get recognized to some degree.
21:47And, and that was just such an overnight sort of thing.
21:50Like the amount of people,
21:51like I, I remember even funnily enough at the Emmys,
21:53I remember seeing so many of my heroes,
21:55like I'm a big fan of Steve Martin.
21:56And I went up to,
21:57I thought maybe I should leave him be.
21:59I don't want to pestering me Steve Martin.
22:00Yeah.
22:00And I remember going up to him and saying,
22:02hey, hey, could, could I get a photo?
22:04Is that right?
22:04And he said, only if I can get one too.
22:06And I'd grown up watching this guy.
22:08Like, you know.
22:09I mean, the best.
22:11Not only are you creating giant television shows
22:13and winning awards,
22:14but I know you're a huge, uh, soccer fan or.
22:16Oh, yes.
22:17Or a football, what you, what you call it.
22:19Yes, yes, yes.
22:20Football, football.
22:21Football, of course, yeah.
22:21Are you excited about the World Cup coming up?
22:23Oh, yeah, I'm excited.
22:24You know, it's, it's funny because I've been,
22:26I, I, I surprised my dad for Christmas, right?
22:28You won't believe this.
22:29I surprised my dad for Christmas
22:30with like all the flights and all,
22:32like I treated him like I'm going to take you
22:33to the World Cup.
22:34And I still, if you can believe it,
22:36haven't managed to get any tickets.
22:37That's how, yeah.
22:38So, so almost like have to take the Christmas present
22:41back at this point.
22:41But isn't that the Christmas?
22:42Yeah, yeah, yeah.
22:42What else do you want, dad?
22:43Yeah, I can't get, it's tough to get tickets.
22:45It's tough.
22:46It's unbelievable.
22:46And because Scotland haven't been there since 1998.
22:49Well, that's you.
22:49You're Scottish.
22:50Yeah, yeah.
22:51Like they're the most in-demand tickets.
22:53But you got to find a way.
22:53Yeah, I've got to find a way.
22:54Come to Jersey.
22:55You can stay at my house.
22:56Yeah, deal.
22:57You're welcome.
22:58Yeah, well, at least, at least your dad can stay.
23:00Yeah, yeah.
23:01Whatever, yeah, we'll take, we'll take care of your dad.
23:02I'll sleep on the porch outside.
23:03Yeah, yeah, yeah, no problem.
23:04Let's talk about your new show, Half Man.
23:07It premiered last week.
23:08It's getting rave reviews.
23:09Just quickly, if you want to plug your ears.
23:11Half Man is Richard Gad's outstanding return to TV,
23:14riveting and profound, says Variety.
23:17Half Man is the best show of 2026,
23:19an appointment TV at its finest,
23:21says Digital Spy, and then New York Post.
23:23They say, uh, Half Man should sweep the Emmys.
23:26Come on, brother.
23:27That's what I'm talking about.
23:30Congratulations.
23:31Oh, thank you so much.
23:32Uh, how do we, how do we set up the show?
23:35It starts kind of between an intense scene
23:38between two brothers.
23:39Yeah.
23:40It's kind of about men and sort of male repression,
23:43male violence.
23:43We meet, me and Jamie Bell, the fantastic Jamie Bell.
23:46We, we, we meet us in a very odd situation
23:49in the present day.
23:50And we flash back to, all the way to 1980s Scotland
23:54and where we see all the kind of learned behaviors
23:56and prejudices that these characters soak up,
23:58which go on to make them kind of broken males
23:59in the present.
24:00It's an exploration of, of sort of male repression
24:02and masculinity.
24:04Uh, and I want to show everyone a clip of this.
24:06Here's Richard Gad in Half Man.
24:07Take a look at this.
24:27Oh, no.
24:35Come here.
24:44I am proud of you.
24:46Yeah.
24:48You know that.
24:51Yikes!
24:53Richard Gad, Half Man airs Thursdays at 9 p.m.
24:57on HBO and HBO Max.
24:59We'll be right back with the crew from NASA's Artemis II.
25:02Stick around.
25:04That's a wild fact.
25:05State-of-the-art caffeine.
25:07Open your head like I'm the first screen.
25:09Not the average savage or cursed queen.
25:19Our next guests are the astronauts behind NASA's Artemis II moon mission,
25:25who just successfully traveled the farthest distance humans have ever gone from Earth.
25:30Please welcome Mission Specialist Christina Cook, Commander Reed Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover,
25:36and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen!
25:46That's what I'm talking about!
25:48That's what I'm talking about!
25:49That's what I'm talking about!
25:51Look at that, come on.
25:53Oh my God, look at that.
25:57Come on, now!
25:58Yeah! That's what I'm talking about!
26:04Ah! They love you!
26:06We love you! We love you!
26:09Come on! Thank you so much!
26:11Welcome!
26:15Come on!
26:22Welcome to the show.
26:23Please enjoy yourself.
26:25Before we get into it, Victor,
26:27I just want to say happy birthday!
26:29Happy 50th birthday!
26:32Happy birthday!
26:36Thank you!
26:37Thank you!
26:38Happy, happy, happy.
26:39Can't think of a better way to spend it.
26:40Oh, yeah, good. I'm so happy you're all here.
26:43I'm sure you had so many emotions during this mission.
26:47I was going to ask you, when were you the most nervous?
26:51Was it takeoff? Was it landing?
26:54About 30 seconds ago.
26:55Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
26:57You have a groupie that as well.
26:58I mean, you know, launch.
26:59People think of launch because they see the rocket.
27:01But it's actually, for us, re-entry way wilder of a ride.
27:06What?
27:06Yes.
27:07Really?
27:08Coming back to a planet is no joke.
27:11You might think, let's land the plane.
27:14No, it is nothing like that.
27:15You know, you're taking off and it's just a little rumble.
27:17You don't see anything.
27:19You're looking around your friends.
27:20You don't hear the explosions?
27:21Not so much.
27:23Now, on re-entry, yes, exactly.
27:25You come back.
27:26Because it's loud when it's here.
27:27It is.
27:28But in there, not so much.
27:30Not so much.
27:30You come back.
27:31You are a literal plasma ball.
27:33And you see the fire outside every single window.
27:36And then you're like, so I'm in the flames.
27:39Right, right.
27:40It's like that far away.
27:41We are the fire.
27:42Really?
27:42Right there.
27:43Right there.
27:43And are you, is it hot?
27:45Clearly not, right?
27:46It gets a little warm.
27:47It does.
27:47It actually does.
27:49Really?
27:49We have to set the stage.
27:50We're watching the altimeter click down.
27:53You're going six miles a second.
27:57Six miles a second?
27:5839 times the speed of sound.
27:59Six miles a second.
28:01We're hitting the atmosphere.
28:02Are you hearing clicks?
28:03No, but we're like talking about it.
28:05And you're watching that number click down.
28:06But you don't really feel that speed until you hit the atmosphere.
28:10And then you start to slow down.
28:11Reid, you have took one of the coolest pictures I could even imagine.
28:17It's you looking at Earth.
28:20It seems unreal.
28:22It's incredibly emotional.
28:24But about five seconds before that photo was taken, I was looking at Christina and she
28:28was taking a selfie out the window.
28:29I was like, what are you doing?
28:30She's like, I think you should come here and look at this.
28:32And I popped my head in the window next to her and that's the view.
28:36That's all of our planet right there.
28:38And we were lucky to have some phones with us and able to take those pictures.
28:42We were talking about the feelings, you know, of launch and entry.
28:44But those feelings are impressive.
28:46And I mean, they get your attention.
28:48But the thing that is hard to understand is we're constantly going away from or back to the planet.
28:52So it's changing the whole mission and the view.
28:55That is really what gets you.
28:56We would be eating or washing up, getting ready for bed or something.
28:59And you look out the window and you just see that Earth out there.
29:02And it was so amazing to see.
29:03Well, you got to see the dark side of the moon.
29:06I mean, you really, to the far side of the moon.
29:09What did it feel like when you were, when did you first kind of see it?
29:12And you go, guys, we're seeing it.
29:13We're seeing something that no one's seen.
29:15Yeah, it actually happened earlier than we thought.
29:18A couple of days before we looked at the moon and we're like, oh, that looks weird.
29:21It's because of the angle we had, we were now seeing parts of the far side from a distance.
29:26And we all glued to the windows just to check that out.
29:29Reed, you had a very special moment where you named a crater in honor of your late wife, Carol.
29:36It was an incredibly moving gesture.
29:39Did you always, was that the plan?
29:41That was definitely not the plan.
29:43But when you're flying in space with three of the greatest humans you could ever fly in space with,
29:47Christina came up with that idea.
29:49And at Kennedy Space Center before we launched, Jeremy asked me if that was something that we should do as
29:54a crew.
29:55That was a crew decision.
29:57And Jeremy gave one of the most moving speeches.
29:59And that moment was a great honor for my kids.
30:01My kids were in Mission Control, Ellie and Katie, when that happened.
30:04And they didn't know anything about it.
30:05It's deeply moving for them.
30:07But also for the four of us, that kind of solidified us as a crew.
30:11Like we are bonded forever.
30:19I have to ask you, how big is it or how small is it?
30:22I heard it's like the size of maybe two minivans, which is a weird comparison.
30:26Are we talking about the spacecraft?
30:28That's being a little gracious, two minivans.
30:31Two minivans being gracious?
30:32Maybe one.
30:34Like could you show me?
30:35One of them.
30:35What it would look like.
30:36Very full.
30:37Would you guys wanna?
30:38Yeah, yeah.
30:39But Jimmy, you have to come in.
30:40You have to be a part of this.
30:41I'm part of the mission.
30:42You really have to physicalize this.
30:43So can you?
30:44And if you're not touching it, it's not like being an Orion.
30:47Okay, that's great.
30:47So yeah, you get in there.
30:48Okay, you stand right there.
30:50All right.
30:51So just go ahead and work for the next 12 hours.
30:54We'll get very busy.
30:55No, this is not.
30:56Oh, by the way.
30:56We have to like physically be touching at all times.
30:59I want to get down here.
30:59I need to get some water.
31:01Ike.
31:01Hey, Christina.
31:02Yeah, okay, hold on.
31:03Is that your water?
31:04There you go.
31:04That is mine.
31:05You keep flying.
31:07You keep flying.
31:07You keep flying.
31:10That's exactly what it feels like.
31:12No way.
31:14100% of the time.
31:15And you were all patient with each other?
31:17We were.
31:18You were patient.
31:19Yeah.
31:20Yeah.
31:20You spent 10 days together like that.
31:22We didn't have had no choice.
31:23Yeah.
31:23You really did.
31:24After three years of training together, a lot.
31:27Yeah.
31:27I'll say, I do think we kind of surprised ourself.
31:30Late in the mission, we were like, we gave each other a lot of grace.
31:32A lot of grace.
31:33Good for you.
31:34Yeah.
31:34You're the cast of friends.
31:35You are the roommates together.
31:38And I thought it'd be kind of fun if we maybe played a game.
31:40Let's play a game of how well you get to know each other.
31:42This is a game called Space Mates.
31:44Here we go.
31:49So you all get these boards right here.
31:53Okay?
31:53And I'm going to read a question.
31:55And you'll write down who do you think the answer is.
31:57And you're going to try to match or just see.
31:59I just want to see who matches, who has a story about it.
32:02Okay?
32:02And how well you guys know each other.
32:05Here's the first question.
32:06No cheating.
32:07No looking.
32:08Who did the coolest space tricks?
32:11Because I know someone had to do a flip or a thing.
32:14Or I remember seeing a jar of Nutella floating around at one point.
32:19Okay.
32:20Reveal your answer.
32:21One.
32:22Two.
32:23Three.
32:25Whoa.
32:25They're all different.
32:27What?
32:27Jeremy, Jeremy.
32:28What?
32:29Two Jeremys.
32:30Two Jeremys.
32:30Two Jeremys.
32:31Two Jeremys.
32:31All right.
32:31Victor and a Reed.
32:33All right.
32:33So I think Jeremy.
32:35I actually, I didn't see it in real life.
32:37But I saw it on Instagram when I got back.
32:40And someone showed me.
32:40And Victor's just doing this like little twirly thing through the cabin.
32:43I'm like, I must have been in the washroom.
32:45I don't even remember that.
32:47But I saw Reed film Jeremy doing some spinning.
32:50And I was impressed.
32:52I was like, I should have got that on camera.
32:53I wrote Jeremy because you were a rookie.
32:56And we got to be there when you went to the bathroom for the first time in space.
33:00Exactly.
33:02No, no.
33:03We'll cut that out.
33:04We'll cut that out.
33:04We'll cut that out.
33:05Don't embarrass.
33:06That's so funny.
33:07True.
33:08Okay.
33:08All right.
33:08How about this one?
33:09Whose hair looked best in space?
33:11Oh, that's easy.
33:15I'm sorry about that.
33:17I'm sorry.
33:18I'm sorry.
33:19I didn't even think.
33:21I didn't.
33:22I'm so sorry.
33:23I didn't even think.
33:25Okay.
33:25This is a, this is, this question is kind of a bust.
33:28I think everyone should probably have, hopefully have this.
33:30I might even write the answer down.
33:32Yeah.
33:34All right.
33:34On three, two, one.
33:36Victor.
33:37Yeah.
33:44Consistent.
33:45Yeah.
33:45You know what I thought, James?
33:46All right.
33:47Yeah.
33:47James knows what's up.
33:48Yeah.
33:49That's good.
33:50Yeah.
33:50All right.
33:50Good.
33:51Very good.
33:51Consistent.
33:52I can't believe you're running for yourself.
33:54Okay.
33:54For this last one.
33:56How about this?
33:57For this last one.
33:58If, if two of you match with the right answers, since our logo, the Tonight Show logo is the moon.
34:03That's why I'm so psyched you're here.
34:05Uh, if you have two, uh, two of the correct answers, everyone here will go home with a pint of
34:10Ben and Jerry's Tonight Dough ice cream.
34:12Oh!
34:13That question's out.
34:16That question's out.
34:17You got it.
34:19All right.
34:21Here is the question.
34:26Who?
34:29Who?
34:32Who missed Earth the most?
34:36Ooh.
34:36Who?
34:41I can't cheat.
34:49All right.
34:50Are you ready for your answers?
34:52On the count of three.
34:54One.
34:55Two.
34:56Three.
35:03That's perfect.
35:04That's perfect.
35:06That's perfect.
35:06That is perfect.
35:08Everyone goes home with some ice cream.
35:11Oh.
35:12I was wondering, since you guys are great space mates, do you guys mind autographing my copy of Dark Side
35:20of the Moon, one of the greatest albums from Pink Floyd?
35:22Would you mind autographing this for me?
35:24Sure.
35:25Thank you so much.
35:26Oh, my God.
35:27I'm honored to have you here.
35:29The crew of NASA's Artemis II Moon Mission.
35:33We'll be right back with more Tonight Show.
35:36Come on back, everybody.
35:37Oh, my God.
35:37Oh, my God.
35:43Oh, my God.
35:44He was at requesto.
35:46Oh, my God.
35:50Oh, my God.
35:54Oh, my God.
35:55Performing the title track to his new album, Indigo Park.
35:59Please welcome Bruce Cornsby and the Noisemakers.
36:32Yeah, it was heavy as a thunder did see.
36:35I'd take a punch in the old-time dog.
36:38Put her on in and put her in.
36:41There's a hidden sense of possibility.
36:44When you don't know a thing, you're young and you're green.
36:48Turbent twins, it won't ease.
36:50And I'm in a wind and you won't heal my dreams.
36:54Oh, it is a days to be a woody life.
36:57Half a trillion of rhythm and life.
37:00Watch your music all night, chase your eyes.
37:04Oh, it's in a late time.
37:07Oh, you're flying up and mounted up like a diamond out of the wall.
37:12Till I've seen your face, it's only safe.
37:16It's only life, life is enough.
37:21So whatever, it's life and life only.
37:31I'll drive an old 41 car, first top-stick ship.
37:37Far to Bradstead, the far old fit.
37:41Taught me out of here with a big, big hit.
37:43I paid my great big ass,
