00:05reportedly developed a bizarre fixation, allegedly before starting the blaze.
00:10He was, according to prosecutors, obsessed with Luigi Mangione, the accused United Health Care CEO killer.
00:16And authorities believe that obsession is what prompted him to torch parts of Southern California out of, quote, resentment of
00:22the rich.
00:23Court documents show Rindernacht routinely searched online for the phrases, free Luigi Mangione and let's take down all the billionaires.
00:31In the weeks leading up to the fire, Rindernacht was allegedly raving mad and went on and on about Mangione
00:37to his Uber customers.
00:38A trial memorandum notes that some of those customers described their driver as, quote, angry, intense, driving erratically and ranting
00:46about being pissed off at the world and Luigi Mangione capitalism and vigilantism.
00:51That memo also quotes Rindernacht himself, who, when asked why he set the blaze, allegedly replied, quote,
00:57out of resentment of the rich enjoying their money as we're basically being enslaved by them.
