00:00It actually has the passing date of the original owner or a previous guitar player engraved on the front, giving
00:06it a little bit of a spooky feel.
00:07What's up everyone, I'm Tos, and this is my makeshift synth guitar.
00:12It's made from an old 80s Japanese Strat clone, picked up from a thrift store from the original owner.
00:18For the past couple years, I've actually been into finding old Japanese guitars that were throwaways and turning them into
00:25my own thing.
00:26The whole body itself is actually finger painted and sanded down, giving it this cool abstract relic feel.
00:33It originally came with a very shiny diamond looking pickguard, which I thought was a little too loud for me.
00:38I got this off-white cream looking one off of eBay.
00:41If you look closely, it actually doesn't really fit the guitar perfectly.
00:45And I had to carve out some space for the synth parts, but it's okay because it looks cool.
00:51In total, including the traditional guitar out, it has a total of five different outputs I can use.
00:56First is the GK3 MIDI pickup going into the VGA with the guitar out feature.
01:03I also have a submarine pickup, which is only picking up the top two strings.
01:07And last but not least, the pocket synth high chord, which I use for its stock features,
01:13pads to put beneath my playing, or MIDI out, queuing up different kinds of sounds on VSTs.
01:19I think I just wanted something new, fresh, and inspiring that allowed me to unlock all the sounds that I
01:26hear in my head.
01:27I was also a bit bored of the traditional guitar sound as of the past couple years,
01:31so I wanted something that was new, absolutely insane, and with endless possibilities.
01:38I'm also a huge video game nerd, so this kind of brings me back to my roots and makes it
01:43a little bit more fun to play now.
01:46This thing is absolutely insane, and makes no sense, but I think that's why it's perfect.
01:52So yeah, I hope you enjoyed this breakdown, and thanks so much for stopping by.
