00:30It's time to tell the world Anita Dupree has breast cancer.
00:35Kat, hey, was this a little surprise dropping?
00:38More like a bonus check.
00:41Try Ambush.
00:42She ditches family volunteer night when I actually need her
00:47and then shows up right before my Zoom meeting with the campaign team.
00:51Please, as if you need any help.
00:53You smile big, you kiss babies, and you never say or do anything.
00:56Worthy of getting memed.
00:57Nailed it.
00:58I was trying to convince your man here that he should have taken me to Costa Rica.
01:03As the dutiful sister, I would have kept him from being lonely.
01:07Excuse me if I didn't want to bring my kid sister to lover's paradise.
01:12There was a certain story that was heating up,
01:15and it wasn't the best time for me to leave town.
01:18But you could always hit up that island with Tomas.
01:21Except her boyfriend just made Junior partner, and that's why her Valentine's date was mom.
01:27Don't start with me, Martin.
01:29Tomas didn't trip when I skipped Puerto Rico for Chelsea Cat's first Christmas.
01:33It's called being a supportive partner.
01:37Reciprocity, maybe you've heard of it.
01:38You are cooking today, Cat.
01:43What?
01:44No clever comeback?
01:46No, not this time.
01:47You got me.
01:48I put my ambitions first way too often, instead of giving my man the shine he deserves.
01:54I learned the hard way about keeping secrets and taking you for granted, but never again.
02:05Aunt Cat.
02:06Hey, superstar.
02:08Why does it look like you sprinted home?
02:10I'm fine.
02:11Just excuse me.
02:13Not so fast.
02:14I brought the proofs from the shoot you coordinated for Fenmore's presentations.
02:19I'm sorry, but I'll have to check them online later.
02:22I had lunch with grandma, and I really have to get a jump on this AP psych project.
02:27I thought you were on schedule with that.
02:29I was, but...
02:30But your extracurricular activities are taking you away from school.
02:34That's not it, I swear.
02:36Then what is it?
02:40Samantha.
02:41I haven't been able to focus, okay?
02:44Not with everything that's been going on with great-grand.
02:49Anastasia cornered me at lunch, said mother collapsed at the club yesterday.
02:53What?
02:53Why is this the first time hearing about this?
02:55I called daddy, but he swore it was just a dizzy spell.
02:58But you don't think?
02:59I want to believe that Anastasia is just stirring the pot.
03:02Oh, I heard you two come in.
03:05Mm-hmm.
03:06What's all this whispering about?
03:08We're just comparing notes, trying to figure out why you summoned us here.
03:12Your mother will explain.
03:14Come on in, she'll be right down.
03:16Daddy, please.
03:17If this is something upsetting, just tell us now.
03:48We'll see you next time.
03:51You finally ready to order, or are you just ranting my table by the hour?
03:56My guy is running late, so I think I'll hold all till he shows.
04:01Mm-hmm.
04:02Just keep in mind, the meter's running.
04:05Yes, ma'am.
04:19A burner?
04:20Yes.
04:21I have my own.
04:22And I put my number in there in case you need it.
04:24But only in the case of an emergency should you call me.
04:27And when you do, use this burner to call mine.
04:29Never use your real phone.
04:30Yeah.
04:31Let's go.
04:48Naomi!
04:50How's our Haley holding up?
04:52Well, I just checked on her yesterday, and she's as well as can be expected.
04:56Still a little jumpy, though.
04:58Well, tell her keep her head up.
05:00With the police out there looking for that bastard, I'm positive.
05:04It's only a matter of time.
05:06Yeah.
05:11It's not the time, Lynette.
05:13You'll live.
05:15I wanted to tell you face-to-face.
05:17I handled our little problem.
05:19Handled it how?
05:22My boss just walked in.
05:23Time for you to bounce.
05:25I'll text you the details.
05:26Yeah, whatever.
05:32Is that what I pay you for?
05:34Play footsie under the table?
05:36What?
05:37You heard me.
05:39What are you doing in here, wasting your time, when you should be out there, looking for
05:45the scumbag that laid hands on Haley Hamilton?
05:50It's Elon.
05:52Talk.
05:53Got good news.
05:54That's all I thought.
05:57Haley's here with me.
05:58You're on speaker.
05:59Miss Hamilton, you can breathe easy.
06:01We've got your assailant in custody.
06:07You are worried.
06:10I get that.
06:11And so do I.
06:12And your concern for Grant is not the only reason you're falling behind.
06:17Pop.
06:17You're juggling school, Chelsea Cat, the cotillion, the clinic.
06:22No wonder why your project is stalling.
06:24So now being ambitious is a bad thing?
06:27Last I checked, you're running a congressional office and a re-election campaign.
06:31That is hardly the same.
06:33And you've got your regular reporter job on top of that super secret assignment that you
06:37think nobody notices.
06:40Look, I have a lot on my plate, but we all do.
06:45I can handle it, okay?
06:47Samantha, you are sharp and talented, and you're more driven than most grown-up folks
06:54that I know.
06:54But even as adults, sometimes we hit walls.
06:58Especially when we're concerned about an ailing loved one.
07:01And I'm not trying to pile on, but maybe we should cut back-
07:05No, no, no.
07:07Look, can we just please call them?
07:09If I know that great-grand's okay, then I can get my head straight and focus on my project.
07:16Please, Pop.
07:19I guess it wouldn't hurt.
07:26Oh, my goodness.
07:28Leaping to our feet?
07:29Did I take that long to get down here?
07:31You never take the elevator, Mother.
07:33Are you feeling worse?
07:34I'm just conserving my energy for things that matter.
07:40Martin, I'll take it in the study.
07:42Fill him in.
07:45So this is serious?
07:49Come.
07:50Sit.
07:51All right, James.
07:54Sit, sit.
07:58You can stop holding your breath.
08:01I know what you've heard from Anastasia, but rumors of my rapid decline have been grossly
08:09exaggerated.
08:10And what happened yesterday?
08:12I was trying to escape Leslie, and I stood up too fast, and then I had to sit down even
08:18faster, and unfortunately, a glass got caught in the closet.
08:21Crossfire.
08:22That's all.
08:22That's all she wrote.
08:24Although I'm sure Leslie's version had me gasping for my last breath.
08:28And she probably passed it right along to Anastasia.
08:31But that's not why we're here.
08:36I wanted you to come by so I can tell you that I've come to a decision.
08:40I'm going to go public with my diagnosis.
08:44Public?
08:46Maybe we should talk about this.
08:48There's nothing to talk about.
08:49I already have an interview this afternoon with Gayle King.
08:55Hey, look who decided to bless my section.
09:00Bless?
09:01Just ten minutes ago, you were ready to evict me.
09:03That's before I knew you were meeting with Mr. Armstrong here.
09:07Had I known, I would have had your usual out of the kitchen before you even touched the
09:11chair.
09:12And make me miss your lovely voice recite my order?
09:16Salmon cakes on ciabatta?
09:18You know me.
09:19Creature of habit.
09:20Creature of habit with good taste.
09:23And I'll take a BLT.
09:25To go.
09:27He has work to do.
09:32Hey, I am working.
09:34The woman you just saw me talking to, she said she had a front row seat to Hayley's mugging.
09:39And?
09:40She wasn't much help.
09:42The way she describes a guy could have been half the damn city.
09:45And it happened too fast for her to snap a pic on her phone.
09:47But I'm still working on the bus.
09:51Good.
09:52Busy street, broad daylight.
09:56Somehow, someway, the truth is bound to come out.
10:01We received a 911 call this morning.
10:04A vagrant threatening a woman in Stance Park.
10:07Spawning officers found him passed out on the bench.
10:10Checked his pockets for weapons.
10:12Found a wallet and Miss Hamilton's driver's license.
10:16That's, uh, good news.
10:18We'd like for you to come down, take a look, confirm it's him.
10:22Thanks to you.
10:23We'll be right there.
10:27You don't need to come with me.
10:29The hell I don't.
10:31I'm not scared anymore.
10:32They have him in custody and you have lunch with Chelsea.
10:36Who will understand?
10:37Hey, listen, I don't want to be the reason you bail on your daughter.
10:42Plus, you two are finally in a good place.
10:45Besides, I'm not your child bride, no matter how many times Danny calls me that.
10:49I can handle myself.
10:51Hayley, that's not the point.
10:53It's exactly the point.
10:54Okay?
10:57After this, I will check us out and to think tonight we could be making love in our own bed,
11:08babe.
11:09You have it your way, but you call me the second you walk out of there.
11:13Okay.
11:34Taking her cancer public, honestly, I'm not surprised.
11:37Neither am I.
11:38She's anticipating a leak.
11:41That way, she can control the narrative.
11:44Raising awareness and turning pain into power.
11:47That's Anita Dupree.
11:49How's she going to do it?
11:50Press release?
11:51Network TV interview with Gayle King today.
11:55Here?
11:56New York.
11:57They'll tape to air within a few days.
11:59Probably rushed it because of Gran's chemo schedule.
12:02She and Granddad are flying private here and there.
12:06Well, I think we should at least go and see her off.
12:09As a family?
12:11Those of us who don't have pressing schoolwork.
12:14Uh-uh.
12:15I'm not missing this.
12:17Your project is...
12:19Great-grand is the reason that I couldn't focus.
12:21If she needs our support, that comes first.
12:25I'll take my work with me.
12:27All right.
12:28You can go.
12:31Good.
12:32Then Samantha will go on my behalf.
12:34Wait.
12:35You're not coming?
12:36How about, um, you show me how far you go on that project?
12:40Let's do it.
12:40Let's go.
12:45I would if I could.
12:47Believe me.
12:48But just say hello to Anita and the family for me.
12:51Is this about the story you're chasing?
12:54I can't...
12:55Discuss it.
12:56Right.
12:57All right.
12:57Well, if it's worth everything you letting slide, including family...
13:02Trust me.
13:03If you knew who I'd be letting down, you wouldn't want me walking away.
13:11Bonus like I promised.
13:14Your little Prev Talk work.
13:15Point guy's been quieter than the church mouse.
13:17I appreciate the bonus.
13:20So now that I pass the test, when I'm gonna get my first assignment, after I make this call.
13:32Counselor.
13:32I assume you're looking for an update.
13:36Actually, I have one for you.
13:38The guy's in jail.
13:39How did that happen?
13:41My man's been beating the pavement with no luck.
13:44Yeah, well, the cops got lucky.
13:45Got back Haley's wallet and license.
13:47What about the ring?
13:48No, it's gone.
13:50That's a shame.
13:51But, at least you and the missus will sleep easier.
13:55Oh, we definitely will.
14:05Malone, it's Joey.
14:07Give me a call.
14:09I'm curious about something.
14:14So, we are back here again.
14:18And, uh, since when does your bodyguard slash ball and chain let you out in the street solo?
14:26Just tell me it was you.
14:27What was me?
14:28The guy they locked up today.
14:30They found my wallet and license in his pockets.
14:33Nah, it wasn't me.
14:35Then who?
14:37You know who.
14:39You know who.
14:40And you know she don't do nothing for free.
14:47You know, I'm willing to put money that the net found some poor sap, passed out on the bench, slid
14:52your ID in his pocket, called 911, and act like he was threatening her.
14:57Yeah, but they record 911 calls.
14:59Has that ever stopped her before?
15:02You know, you're not the only one who keeps fake IDs on rotation.
15:06Yeah.
15:07That's true.
15:08With her whole fake telemarketing voice.
15:11Well, her tired southern housewife accent.
15:20There you go.
15:21Now, you have a face to point to in the lineup.
15:26That man's not a threat to anyone.
15:29Better him than you.
15:31You know, you don't have the moral high ground to stand on, right?
15:35You scam people for a living.
15:37Yeah, sharks, fat cats, financial bros, but that man's got nothing.
15:42Okay, well, prison will give him everything, a roof, three hots, and a cot, maybe even streaming if he's lucky.
15:47Okay, so now are we sending men to prison as a charity program?
15:50Okay, I ain't in it.
15:51This wasn't my play.
15:52Mine neither.
15:53Lynette's the one pulling the strings.
15:55And she's gonna swear up and down that this is the guy.
15:58So you don't have a choice, and she's gonna put this guy away to keep a leash on you.
16:03And you best believe that she's gonna keep yanking it harder and harder.
16:08Nah.
16:09Nah, she needs us the same way we need her.
16:13She's not dumb enough to just cut me off.
16:16Not when it mess up her whole bag.
16:19I hope you're right.
16:21Because we got a whole lot riding on this.
16:28Hey.
16:30Oh, what did I do to deserve this?
16:33Oh, please, like you don't know.
16:35The fellowship that Madison turned down?
16:37Mm-hmm.
16:38Somehow just happened to relocate to D.C. with a shiny new benefactor footing the bill.
16:43Hmm.
16:44You expect me to believe it was, what, some cosmic miracle?
16:47Yeah, it sounds to me like this benefactor is a pretty stand-up guy, but it's news to me.
16:53Since when don't you take credit for your good deeds?
16:56Especially since they've been so few and far between lately.
16:59Look, all I want to know is that my baby girl has everything she needs to make her happy.
17:05And you're willing to move heaven, earth, and a research center to make it happen?
17:10How did Madison react?
17:11Over the moon!
17:13She thought that she had to give up what she loved to stay close, but now she gets both.
17:18The dream and the dream girl.
17:20Hmm.
17:20That says a lot about her.
17:22You know, willing to walk away from such a great opportunity?
17:25She must really love you.
17:27She does.
17:28Yeah.
17:28And I love her back.
17:30Enough that I was willing to let her fly halfway across the world.
17:34And now all the stars have aligned, and I have my thoughtful, generous, and, believe it or not, humble dad
17:42to thank.
17:42Well, my daughter's love is thanks enough.
17:46Oh, forget that.
17:47I'm taking you to lunch, and I'm not taking no.
17:51Oh, okay.
17:52Well, hey, who am I to argue?
17:54You're the boss.
17:58Don't hate me, but I might have to reschedule.
18:01Everything okay?
18:02I'm not sure.
18:03Mom wants me at the Grands.
18:05Sounds like something big is about to happen.
18:09Oh, my darling, darling girl.
18:12Martin, Kat.
18:14Thank you so much.
18:15You have no idea what this means to me.
18:18You don't have to thank us.
18:20You know we would be here no matter what.
18:24I have done hundreds of interviews in my lifetime.
18:27I stood in front of cameras speaking about various films, albums, causes, projects that had nothing to do with me
18:36personally.
18:36But this is the first time the spotlight has been turned on my own crisis.
18:41And I will tell you, it is a very uncomfortable feeling.
18:48But having you all here to see me off, that's the only thing that makes it bearable.
18:53Well, we'll only be gone a few hours.
18:56Everything's set up.
18:57You don't have daddy, but some of us can travel with you.
19:01Your mother has a different request.
19:04Will you all listen from here together?
19:10I tried to have you see the taping, but I just want you to hear what I say.
19:17So if something leaks, we'll be ready.
19:20We can do that, right?
19:22I told you, Gran, I'm not missing another chance to be here for you.
19:25I learned that lesson the hard way after Mardi Gras.
19:28I'm going to hold you to that.
19:30I just wish that you didn't feel forced into this.
19:33No one forces me.
19:35You know that, Nicole.
19:38But the timing isn't ideal.
19:41I would rather have gone public when it was a story of victory.
19:47And the battle had been fought and won, and all of this was behind me.
19:52But life, life doesn't wait for perfect endings.
19:58But vanity has a part in this, too.
20:01I want to do this while I still look and feel like a star.
20:05Naomi and Chelsea are on their way.
20:09Danny, everyone, I want to make something perfectly clear.
20:14I am not discussing the hereditary aspect.
20:18I told them any questions about the BRCA gene is off limits.
20:22I don't want the world combing through our bloodline.
20:26I want to protect your privacy.
20:28It's bad enough that I'm shifting the focus from your re-entry into modeling,
20:33your re-election campaign, and Chelsea Cat.
20:36Mother, please, none of that matters.
20:38No one is thinking about any of that.
20:41You are what matters to us.
20:43And that's the truth.
20:46This family is behind you 100%.
20:50And we couldn't be prouder.
21:00What you looking at?
21:01I'm making sure the seer number's not in order.
21:04Of course they're not.
21:05Cash is clean.
21:06Unmarked.
21:07We professionals here.
21:08Yeah, but that don't hurt the check.
21:09Too many guys get caught slipping out here.
21:12I like that you did that.
21:13Last fool was sloppy.
21:15Sloppy gets you caught up real quick.
21:20The pick-up's ready.
21:24Remember, you don't see nothing, you don't say nothing.
21:28Just move the package.
21:30I got you, boss man.
21:32Don't even worry about that.
21:36Sorry, I didn't get here before the grands left.
21:38I had to move some things around.
21:40It's okay.
21:41You will be here to listen to the interview,
21:42and that's the most important thing to mother.
21:44They just landed and are headed to the studio,
21:46so if you want a call, now's probably a good time.
21:48Okay, I'll do that.
21:49Thanks.
21:50Don't you want to get in on that call?
21:53Well, before I do, I have to ask,
21:56did you know what Dad was up to?
21:57Up to?
21:59Do I want to know?
22:01Relax, it's a good thing.
22:02He went full Daddy Warbucks
22:04and dropped a large donation
22:06to get Madison's research fellowship moved to D.C.
22:09No way!
22:10That's literally the best of all worlds.
22:12Charles, please tell me you dropped this idea in his ear.
22:15I was just as shocked as you are,
22:17and he refused to take the credit,
22:18but I know he's behind it.
22:20That's your father.
22:21He's made his mistakes,
22:23but when it comes to his girls,
22:24he will move mountains if he has to.
22:27Why do y'all look like you're staging an intervention?
22:30Because maybe we are.
22:33Pop, your father isn't wrong.
22:36Look, sweetheart,
22:37it is okay to want to do everything.
22:42God knows ambition runs in this family.
22:44But it's also okay to admit when it's too much.
22:48And I think you know this is one of those times.
22:51You think you're the only one struggling to manage your life?
22:54Some days I can't even finish a briefing.
22:57And I'm the one that people turn to to find their sanity.
23:01But there have been days, not many, but a few,
23:04where I paste on a smile for my patients,
23:07and then I lock the door to my office
23:08and let out a silent scream.
23:11I'd love to see that.
23:12It's very cathartic.
23:13I'll show you.
23:15But what I'm saying, Samantha,
23:16is that this is not unique to you.
23:18Why should I be the one slowing down
23:21if neither of you are?
23:23You're right.
23:24Maybe we should.
23:26We're all just stumbling through this
23:28the best we know how.
23:29The lesson here is having grace.
23:32And that includes giving it to yourself.
23:35And that's why I made the call.
23:41Okay.
23:43You're not going to ask which call?
23:46To your AP psych teacher.
23:48I told her what's going on.
23:50Not the specifics,
23:51because she'll find that out later.
23:53But she was able to give you an extension.
23:57That's it?
23:58Oh, wait.
23:58I thought you guys were going to say
23:59I wasn't going to be able to do the clinic,
24:01the cotillion, or chesty cat anymore.
24:03If you continue the way you have,
24:05I don't see why you can't.
24:07Oh, thank God.
24:08Oh.
24:09You've done your part.
24:11Identifying the suspect isn't easy.
24:13Oh, I know it was him.
24:15Without a doubt.
24:17All right.
24:18Walk you to your car?
24:20What could be safer than a police parking lot?
24:23I will be fine, Chief.
24:27After seeing him in custody,
24:29I can finally breathe.
24:31Glad to hear it.
24:32I do apologize.
24:33We can't return your wallet to you just yet.
24:36Procedure?
24:37It has to be logged in the evidence,
24:39but the prosecution will reach out
24:41and explain the process to you.
24:43Of course, you can lean on Bill
24:44for any legal clarity.
24:45I've already replaced the cards,
24:47and I assume the cash is gone?
24:51It was.
24:52What I really wish is that he had my ring,
24:56but I'm sure that's the first thing he unloaded.
24:59Yeah, that would be my guess, too.
25:01I can't tell you how much this means to me.
25:05Because of you,
25:07my life is mine again.
25:11I'm truly sorry for what you've been through.
25:14You take care of yourself, Miss Hamilton.
25:16Thank you.
25:17All right.
25:36Miss Wise, what a coincidence.
25:40Not really.
25:41They had me come down, peep the line up.
25:44Same as you, I gather.
25:45Girl, I'm so glad it's over.
25:48It was such a relief
25:50knowing that this nightmare is over.
25:54I was on my way to check out the hotel.
25:56Check out?
25:57I hope you don't expect me to.
25:59Well, now that they caught the culprit,
26:02I mean, it's...
26:03Might as well.
26:04I was just starting to get comfortable.
26:06I mean, room service, they know my name.
26:10This is Lynette's doing,
26:12and she's gonna put this guy away
26:14to keep a leash on you.
26:16And you best believe
26:17that she's gonna keep yanking it harder
26:18and harder.
26:22Well, you've done so much to keep me safe.
26:25Stay as long as you like.
26:26I'll take over payment.
26:29No need to trouble Bill with any of the details.
26:31Well, since you brought up Bill,
26:34I do remember there's something you can trouble him with.
26:36I still haven't found the right moment.
26:38Look, I don't have time for excuses.
26:42Navarro's fine for traffic tickets,
26:44but I'm staring down serious prison time right now.
26:48I need a big dog.
26:50And that's Bill.
26:53Now is not the time.
26:54Really?
26:55Well, thanks to your mugging,
26:56he's wrapped tighter than ever around your finger.
26:58And with your attacker in custody,
27:01he must be so relieved.
27:03He is.
27:05And it's perfect time.
27:08Quiet on set, please.
27:10Three, two, three, two, three.
27:13We were in the throes of the holidays,
27:15and there was so much going on.
27:17You know how it is.
27:19And I told myself I would put off my wellness exams,
27:23including my mammogram,
27:24until, you know, sometime down the road.
27:26Maybe the early part of 2026,
27:28when things wind down.
27:29And I mentioned this to a friend, Laura,
27:32who was assisting me
27:34with keeping all the balls in the air,
27:36and she gave me the nudge that I needed.
27:39And that small push changed everything.
27:43I'm thinking, Anita,
27:44we all need a Laura in our lives.
27:45So tell us what happened next.
27:47Well, that mammogram led to an ultrasound,
27:51and the ultrasound led to a biopsy.
27:54All the while, I'm telling myself it's nothing.
27:57Millions of women have biopsies.
27:59And they get good news.
28:00And that's the truth.
28:02You know, I wasn't deluding myself.
28:04But in my case, just before Christmas,
28:06I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.
28:10And it's a very aggressive kind of cancer
28:13that disproportionately affects younger women,
28:17BRCA1 mutation carriers, and black women.
28:20To get news like that during the holiday
28:22had to be heartbreaking for you.
28:25It was.
28:25But then the doorbell rings,
28:28and the gifts get exchanged.
28:30And in a way, the timing couldn't have been more perfect.
28:34Because at that moment,
28:35there was nothing I needed more
28:37than to be surrounded by my family
28:40and to show them beyond a shadow of a doubt
28:43how much they mean to me.
28:45Vernon and I thank God every day for our blessings.
28:49And being wrapped up in family and holiday cheer
28:52during such a terrifying time
28:55was truly a blessing.
28:57So Christmas comes and it goes.
28:59Did you start treatment right after?
29:01Yes.
29:02I had my port inserted just after the new year.
29:06And I've gone through several rounds of chemo.
29:09And when that's done,
29:10assuming that the tumor has decreased in size,
29:13I'll undergo surgery.
29:15And that's the hard part
29:16because now it's wait and see.
29:18But one thing that I am certain of
29:20is that if I had waited to be screened,
29:23even for a few months,
29:26my chances of success would be far less.
29:29Is that why you chose to tell your story
29:32on your terms and come forward today?
29:34I know there are women watching right now
29:36who have put off their mammograms
29:38because it's inconvenient,
29:40because it's uncomfortable.
29:42I hope my story will give them
29:44the push that they need.
29:46And if it's not you,
29:47but someone you love,
29:49then nudge them.
29:51Call.
29:52Make the appointment.
29:53Drive them.
29:55We have to be diligent
29:56and do whatever it takes
29:58because cancer doesn't wait for us to be ready.
30:01No.
30:02And it certainly doesn't disappear
30:04if we try to hide from it.
30:06We have to be on the lookout.
30:08We have to take precautions
30:09and we have to face it head on.
30:12Well, as someone who is,
30:14and this is very hard to say,
30:16fighting for their life,
30:18like I said, it's hard to say,
30:19what else should we know, do you think?
30:21I think we put too much emphasis
30:23on the beginning and endings of things.
30:27Books, TV shows, movies.
30:30And we forget that it's the middle
30:32we need to be mindful of.
30:35You know, the song turns on its chorus.
30:37In terms of?
30:38Support.
30:40It's critical.
30:42I'm thinking having your family right there
30:43beside you during this battle.
30:46To me, that seems key.
30:48What has it meant to you?
30:49They have been everything I've needed.
30:52And I have needed all the things.
30:56Comfort and strength.
30:59Tears and laughter.
31:01Bad jokes and good music.
31:05They are carrying me through this harsh winter
31:07of fear and pain.
31:10And if I make it through this,
31:13I should say when I make it through this,
31:16because I have every intention of doing so,
31:20they will be the reason why.
31:27I love you, great-grand.
31:33You're off the hook.
31:35Really?
31:36Malone says they scooped our guy up.
31:38Turns out he's a real piece of work.
31:41Must be.
31:42Instead of laying low,
31:43he decided to threaten another woman.
31:45She called 911,
31:46and he was either too drunk
31:48or too stoned to even run.
31:50Damn.
31:51Found all the evidence in his back pocket.
31:54These streets will chew you up
31:55if you don't move right.
31:56I don't think he'll be thinking
31:57about moving anytime soon.
32:00I think it's going to be a good long time
32:02before Wesley Hammer
32:04breathes free air again
32:05and good riddance.
32:07Hold up.
32:07What name did you say again?
32:10Wesley Hammer?
32:11I know Wesley,
32:13but we call him Sledge.
32:15You mean as in Sledge Hammer?
32:17Come on now.
32:17Sledge is a big old softie.
32:19He wouldn't hurt anybody.
32:21Except Haley Hamilton
32:22and apparently this other woman.
32:24No, I don't believe it.
32:26Not for one second.
32:27Hey, people do things
32:28you don't expect every day.
32:30Big softie snap too.
32:31Now, Sledge,
32:32I know the man
32:33and that's not him.
32:35Looks like the cops got it wrong
32:36on this one.
32:40Looks like somebody's
32:41getting into the character.
32:42Yeah, well, I didn't want
32:43to blow your cover
32:44in case anyone wandered around.
32:47So, how did you get
32:48our point guy to loosen up?
32:49I told him the truth.
32:51That these guys don't waste time.
32:53And if he stonewalled me,
32:54they'd send somebody
32:55who won't stop with words.
32:56That's not bad.
32:58Maybe this whole
32:59good cop thing you have going on
33:00has more bite than you thought.
33:01Yeah, he got me some bonus money
33:03and my first courier gig.
33:04Do you see anything?
33:06A warehouse.
33:07I'll get you the address.
33:08I parked the truck.
33:09I never got out.
33:10I handed the keys
33:11to a guy named Angelo.
33:12Six feet tall.
33:13Hold on a second.
33:14Yeah.
33:15Okay, six feet.
33:16Six feet.
33:17White, brown, and brown.
33:19Left ear full of studs.
33:20Right bicep has a thorn tattoo.
33:25How's the fam?
33:26Well, you'll see it on the news.
33:28Anita and Gayle King.
33:29She went public about the cancer?
33:32Man, I wish I could have
33:33been there for Naomi.
33:34Well, what we're doing
33:35here matters too.
33:36All right, I'll run
33:37this Angelo lead
33:38and see if anything shakes out.
33:40Stay safe.
33:41All right.
33:45Thank you for making
33:46this happen, Gayle,
33:47on such short notice.
33:48I am so honored
33:49that you reached out
33:50to us, Anita,
33:50because I can't stop
33:51thinking about
33:52what you've been through.
33:53And we look at you
33:53and you look so good.
33:54I meant it when I said
33:55you look damn good.
33:56Thank you.
33:57But you do.
33:57You look damn good.
33:58Thank you.
33:58I know the courage
33:59that you showed here
34:00really matters.
34:01And I promise you,
34:02I guarantee you,
34:03in the coming weeks,
34:04women are going to write us,
34:06they're going to call us,
34:06they're going to tell us
34:07that they got tested
34:09and maybe even got treatment
34:10because of you.
34:12I hope so.
34:13Because even if
34:14just one woman is spared,
34:16then it was worth
34:17every word.
34:18I'll just say,
34:18I know so.
34:19Please know we are
34:20all rooting for you.
34:21And come back
34:22when it's all over.
34:23I will.
34:25She didn't seem nervous
34:27at all.
34:28Like she was talking
34:29to an old friend.
34:30Flawless.
34:31Every time I think
34:32it's impossible
34:33to love or admire
34:35my grandma more,
34:36wrong again.
34:37Her interview will be out soon.
34:39Stay tuned, Chelsea fam.
34:40You won't want to miss it.
35:01Tell me everything went okay
35:03with Anita's interview.
35:04It was beautiful.
35:06But that's not why I'm calling.
35:08I wanted to thank you
35:10for what you did
35:10for Chelsea and Madison.
35:12Ah, well.
35:12I wasn't sure how you take it.
35:14I thought you might
35:15accuse me of being manipulative.
35:18Because you were.
35:20But for once,
35:21you use your powers
35:22for good instead of for evil.
35:23I just wish I had thought of it.
35:26You know,
35:27this BRCA thing
35:28has knocked me flat
35:29in more ways
35:30than I care to admit.
35:31I've been so focused
35:32on what it might mean
35:33for my future
35:34that I've stopped noticing
35:36what's happening
35:36in my present.
35:38But you didn't.
35:39Hey, hey.
35:40Stop beating yourself up.
35:42You hear me?
35:43And you do whatever you need to
35:44to get through this.
35:46I got you, Danny.
35:47Always.
