00:00Did you know there is an affordable way
00:01to feed your family from Whole Foods?
00:02Neither did I, but they have custom value meals
00:05for $35 or less.
00:07But how do they taste?
00:08Are these just leftover foods that they throw
00:10in a package for you to take home?
00:12Or are they freshly made?
00:13So I got two build your own custom value meals.
00:16You have a choice of one entree and two sides.
00:18They're all labeled in the prepared foods case.
00:21First one, salmon with like a sweet chili glaze,
00:23green beans, and this couscous that has hazelnuts.
00:27Thought that looked like a good dinner.
00:28You get four generous pieces of salmon.
00:31This alone is like $27 a pound in the prepared foods case.
00:35So I definitely got more than a pound worth.
00:37Then in this one, I got this crunchy mustard chicken
00:40with lemon herb roasted potatoes
00:43and a Brussels sprouts and kale salad, honey mustard sauce.
00:48The question is how do they taste?
00:49I'm gonna do this first one
00:50just by heating up in the microwave
00:51because I feel like if you're trying
00:52for an easy, fast dinner at home,
00:54you want something you can just pop in the microwave.
00:56And then that couscous salad is meant to be served cold.
00:59Always use the reheat setting
01:00and not just the regular cook setting
01:02or you're gonna overcook the salmon.
01:04Mm-hmm.
01:05Everything tastes delicious.
01:06Taste, again, hasn't been sitting
01:07in the cold case for days.
01:08I think they're only supposed to feed four people.
01:11I have five in my family and I can easily make this work.
01:14Seven bucks a person.
01:16You can't get that in a drive-through.
01:18When you have something like roasted potatoes
01:20and breaded chicken,
01:21these are gonna be best reheated in the air fryer.
01:24It might not be the cheapest place to still get your big
01:26grocery haul for the week,
01:27but you can definitely feed your family
01:29cheaper than a drive-through.
01:30And I would definitely feel better
01:31about serving my family this and those burgers anyway.
01:34I'll be doing this again.
01:35Here are a couple of things I learned while I was there
01:38and in regards to getting the best of the value meals.
01:41First of all, don't go later in the day
01:43because I went and tried it the day before
01:45and everything was completely wiped out
01:47of their prepared foods case.
01:49And while you're there, they also have another surprise
01:52to eating on the cheap.
01:5450% off items that were just
01:56in the prepared foods case yesterday.
01:59Moral of the story is shop earlier in the day
02:01to get the best selection in the prepared foods case
02:05for the value meals and also to get snacks on the cheap.
02:09That's a good deal.
02:10.
02:10.
02:10.
