00:00From the day I woke up in prison and realized the mistakes that I had made and the pain that
00:03I had caused people,
00:04I committed to turning my life around.
00:06Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:08And today, we're looking at 20 of the worst crimes ever committed by famous movie stars.
00:14What Locaine is doing is speaking publicly about her crime as a warning to others.
00:21Murder. Gig Young.
00:24No number.
00:24Hey, look, he's got another one.
00:26It's medicine. I gotta take it to my stomach.
00:27So take it somewhere else. I got enough trouble without a hop in.
00:30This actor built a phenomenal Hollywood career, playing charming characters,
00:35even winning the Oscar for They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
00:39Sadly, the legendary actor's real life was completely devoid of that on-screen charm.
00:45In 1978, the entertainment industry was shaken by a gruesome discovery in a Manhattan apartment.
00:53Young had fatally shot his fifth wife, Kim Schmidt,
00:56mere weeks after they had gotten married. Immediately following this senseless execution,
01:02the troubled Oscar winner turned the weapon on himself. To this day, the exact motivations
01:07behind this horrific crime remain a mystery, forever casting a dark and bloody shadow over
01:14an otherwise stellar cinematic legacy.
01:17I said, deep rise, because only one couple will dance on to fame and fortune.
01:23Those who give up, those who give out, those who give in, out! Tough rules, but these are tough times.
01:31Aggravated assaults.
01:32Emile Hirsch.
01:33Well, a different Hollywood star bleeds guilty to misdemeanor assault charges after being accused
01:38of putting a choke hold on a female studio executive at a Utah nightclub during the Sundance
01:43Film Fest.
01:44This actor's reputation took a devastating hit during the Sundance Film Festival in 2015.
01:50While heavily intoxicated at a crowded nightclub, Emile Hirsch violently attacked Paramount executive
01:56Danielle Bernfeld. Without any clear provocation, Hirsch aggressively put her in a choke hold and
02:03dragged her across the table before slamming her down to the floor.
02:07Bernfeld temporarily lost consciousness during the frightening, unprovoked assault,
02:12and later claimed in court that she had suffered psychological trauma.
02:16Hirsch eventually pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and spent 15 days behind bars.
02:22While he has continued to find acting work, the shocking brutality of this incident permanently
02:28stained his Hollywood standing.
02:31Absolutely no excuse for what happened. I had drank an enormous amount of alcohol and
02:38I can't really recall exactly what happened or even why it happened.
02:44Domestic abuse. Tom Sizemore.
02:56He was a powerhouse talent known for playing tough, hardened soldiers in classic war films
03:02like Saving Private Ryan. Unfortunately, that aggressive persona bled into his personal relationships
03:09and with terrifying consequences. In 2003, Sizemore was convicted of domestic violence against his
03:16former girlfriend, Heidi Fleiss. During their turbulent relationship, Sizemore subjected her to
03:22severe physical battery and relentless emotional abuse. Fleiss testified that he repeatedly punched
03:29her in the face and often threatened her life, leaving her with both physical and psychological injuries.
03:34The actor received a six-month jail sentence for the brutal attacks. And his ensuing career was marred by a
03:42continuous string of drug arrests and subsequent assault allegations before his eventual death.
03:49Captain, if your mother saw you do that, she'd be very upset.
03:52I thought you were my mother.
03:54Burglary and assaults. Ezra Miller.
03:57Well, The Flash star, Ezra Miller, has been charged with felony burglary in Vermont.
04:02The rising cinematic career of Ezra Miller crashed back to Earth amidst a baffling and frightening
04:08multi-state crime spree. Throughout 2022, Miller accumulated a string of alarming arrests across
04:15Hawaii and Vermont. Authorities charged the erratic actor with second-degree assault after they allegedly
04:21struck a woman in the face with a thrown chair. Just months later, Miller pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor
04:29charge stemming from a felony burglary incident where they brazenly stole liquor from a neighbor's
04:35vacant home. The sheer volume of disturbing allegations, ranging from physical violence to
04:40grooming, completely shattered their public image and jeopardized their future blockbuster status.
04:47A harassment order issued against actor Ezra Miller in Greenfield District Court was lifted on Friday,
04:53according to Deadline. The order was initially filed against the Flash start last year,
04:58Flash star, by the mother of a 12-year-old child who claimed danger of harassment.
05:04Manslaughter. Charles S. Dutton.
05:06You spent seven years in prison?
05:07More than seven. So seven and a half the last time. Twelve all total.
05:11Twelve total?
05:11Seven and a half the last time.
05:12Before earning widespread acclaim for commanding performances in movies like Rudy,
05:17Charles S. Dutton lived a violent life on the streets of Baltimore when he was just 17 years
05:23old. Dutton engaged in a vicious knife fight that resulted in the death of another man.
05:29The future star was subsequently convicted of manslaughter and spent three years inside the
05:34brutal Maryland prison system. Remarkably, it was during his lengthy incarceration that Dutton
05:40discovered a profound passion for acting, eventually managing to turn his life around.
05:45While he successfully reformed himself, the grim reality of taking a human life remains a permanent
05:51and haunting chapter in the life of a great actor.
05:55So it's a tough thing to answer because on one level, I can speak for my experiences when you
06:02could get out, when you could get out of parole and make parole and they had programs to help you.
06:06I went to college in prison. I got an associate arts degree, a two-year degree in prison while I
06:10was in the penitentiary. Those days are over with now.
06:14Armed robbery. Danny Trejo.
06:17Well, at 14, your uncle brought you along to an armed robbery.
06:22Yeah. You know, it was cool.
06:24The beloved Danny Trejo is known for playing tough antiheroes. But the iconic grit that he brings to
06:31the silver screen was forged through a legitimate criminal past. Throughout his troubled youth in
06:36California, Trejo was repeatedly incarcerated for a variety of serious offenses, including multiple
06:42armed robberies. He spent over a decade cycling through some of the country's most notorious maximum
06:49security prisons, including San Quentin and Folsom. Trejo actively participated in dangerous prison
06:56riots and battled severe drug use before finally finding sobriety and rehabilitation.
07:03I remember, I remember going, give me the money. And, and the Chinese lady gave me, I think, eight dollars
07:11out of the cash register.
07:12Repeated domestic violence. Edward Furlong. I was at Disneyland! Anaheim?
07:19Is it like, um, what? What ride did you go to on Disneyland?
07:23Uh, it was called Jail.
07:26Thrust into massive stardom as the young John Connor, Edward Furlong seemed destined for an
07:33incredible film career. Instead, his life was consumed by severe substance abuse and a disturbing
07:40pattern of domestic violence. Furlong faced multiple arrests for assaulting different romantic
07:45partners over the years. In 2013, the former teen idol was sentenced to six months in jail after
07:53repeatedly violating a restraining order and physically attacking his ex-girlfriend. The police
07:58reports detailed frightening encounters where Furlong grabbed his victims and inflicted serious bodily
08:04harm. And these repeated offenses entirely derailed his once promising cinematic prospects.
08:11So then he handcuffs me and then he's like, I'm taking you guys to jail and I'm already on probation.
08:20And if I
08:21break that probation for anything, I'm going back to jail. Yeah. For a long time.
08:28Involuntary manslaughter. Tom Neal.
08:31After she, the gal he wanted to win, didn't win. His whole personality changed. He was effing this and effing
08:38that. And it was, the people were, and I thought, boy, I can't wait to get back. And that was
08:44my last
08:45encounter with him. But it gave me an idea of the kind of guy he was. He's known for the
08:51noir classic
08:52Detour. And ironically, Tom Neal's own life spiraled into a bleak narrative that mirrored the cynical movies
08:59he headlined. Neal possessed a notorious temper, which famously erupted in a brutal fight with actor
09:06Frank Atone over a shared romantic pursuit. However, his darkest chapter occurred in 1965,
09:13when he fatally shot his third wife, Gail Bennett, in the back of the head. Neal maintained that the gun
09:19discharged accidentally during a physical struggle. But a jury nevertheless convicted him of involuntary
09:25manslaughter. The disgraced noir star spent six years in prison and spent the majority of his remaining
09:32life entirely forgotten by Hollywood. Details and photos in the desert sun the next day were graphic.
09:39On the front page, a photo showing Gail's sheet covered body on the couch inside their Palm Springs
09:44home. Detectives telling reporters that Gail had been shot with a .45 caliber automatic just behind
09:50her right ear. Abusing his own daughter, Klaus Kinski. Renowned for his unhinged performances,
10:12Klaus Kinski was long considered a temperamental genius who was very difficult to work with.
10:18But decades after his passing, the disturbing depths of his depravity were finally exposed.
10:24In 2013, his eldest daughter, Pola, published a devastating autobiography detailing years of
10:32horrific sexual abuse at the hands of her own father. She revealed that Kinski relentlessly assaulted
10:38her throughout her childhood and threatened violence if she ever spoke out. Pola's younger half-sister
10:44publicly supported the claims and confirmed her father's tyrannical and predatory nature.
10:51The harrowing revelations completely shattered Kinski's artistic legacy and exposed a monstrous
10:57predator hiding behind the shield of brilliance.
11:00I've seen him completely lose control. I've seen in real time people who are working on the film
11:08plotting to kill Kinski. Kinski plotting and threatening to kill you. You plotting to kill Kinski.
11:16And I swear to you that what I'm saying is true.
11:19Man slaughter. Paul Kelly. If you look at the resume of early Hollywood actor Paul Kelly,
11:26you'll see a large gap from 1927 to 1932. You see, Kelly had been having an affair with actress
11:33Dorothy McKay, who was married to another actor named Ray Raymond. On the night of April 16, 1927,
11:41a drunken Kelly confronted Raymond about the affair, and a violent fistfight broke out between the two stars.
11:48Raymond was left with severe head trauma, and died from his injuries just a few days later.
11:53Kelly was convicted of manslaughter and served two years in San Quentin. Incredibly,
11:59the disgraced performer successfully revived his career, and eventually starred in hundreds of
12:04films, and even won the Tony in 1948. Attempted Murder. Shelley Malil. It's difficult to say
12:12what might have come of the career of Shelley Malil after the actor gained
12:15fame for his performance in The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
12:27That's because Malil was sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole
12:31after 12 years for the attempted murder of his girlfriend, Kendra Beebe, in 2010.
12:36He was convicted of premeditated attempted murder and was given a 12 years to life sentence.
12:41The wounds inflicted on Beebe by Malil were numerous, and the victim was left in some
12:46severe physical shape, although she would eventually survive the attack. Malil, in the meantime,
12:51was actually paroled in 2018 after serving only eight years of his sentence.
12:56He says he's a changed man, has taken self-help courses in prison, and participated in Alcoholics
13:02Anonymous. Alleged abuse and defamation. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
13:07Why do we so often follow the sordid details that emerge in the wake of a high-profile celebrity
13:13court case?
13:14It was very, very toxic. We were awful to each other. You know,
13:19I made a lot of, a lot of mistakes. A lot of mistakes. But I've always told the truth.
13:28The tumultuous relationship of actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard was an open book for all to see
13:33during their 2022 trial. There's absolutely no question that especially Johnny Depp's lawyers
13:40are playing to the public. There's no question.
13:43Depp's legal team brought forth allegations of defamation against Heard, while the latter
13:48asserted that she was a victim of domestic violence during her marriage to Depp. Live-streamed
13:53footage of the trial resulted in public support primarily leading towards Depp. And this sentiment
13:58seemed to be echoed by the jury verdict, which ruled in favor of the plaintiff.
14:03I think the key to victory was focusing on the facts and the evidence, and Johnny's opportunity to
14:11speak the truth for the first time.
14:13First-degree attempted burglary. Lillo Brancato. It was alongside heavyweight acting legends like
14:20Robert De Niro that Lillo Brancato first made his mark in Hollywood.
14:30The young actor would earn praise for his work in A Bronx Tale, although struggles with
14:35substance use disorder eventually came to a head for Brancato. A gunfight with off-duty police
14:40officer Daniel Enchitigwe proved to be fatal for the latter.
14:45Someone came to the hospital bed with the newspaper, and he said,
14:51he said, hey buddy, you proud of yourself? He said, you and your boy just killed a cop.
14:55I said, what?
14:56Brancato was charged with second-degree murder for his role in the altercation,
15:01one that also included Brancato's accomplice, Steven Armento. Brancato escaped the murder charge,
15:07but was convicted of first-degree attempted burglary, served time, and was eventually parole.
15:13He speaks now about his experiences, and has returned to acting.
15:17What I can do is choose to be a little bit better today than I was yesterday,
15:21and try to help as many people as possible, and be kind. It doesn't cost anything.
15:25Sexual assault.
15:27Gerard Depardieu. It's a question that's been asked before, one that tends to follow many
15:32celebrities whose talents sometimes overshadow the dark clouds of controversy that follow their careers.
15:38In the wake of the Me Too movement in 2017, serious allegations of sexual misconduct were
15:44made against the actor, casting a shadow over his career. There's absolutely no denying the
15:50greatness of Gerard Depardieu as an actor, as evidenced by his numerous awards and accolades,
15:56yet accusations of a sexual nature have dogged Depardieu for decades. He's previously denied any
16:02wrongdoing, and his lawyer has said the accusations are false and based on lies.
16:07It wasn't until 2020 that an official reckoning came knocking in the form of official charges
16:13levied in Depardieu's native France. He was convicted in May of 2025 on two counts of sexual assault,
16:20although the actor steadfastly denied these accusations and even took the stand in his own defense.
16:25Gerard Depardieu, an icon of French cinema, has been handed a suspended jail term of 18 months.
16:31The verdict is currently being appealed. Sexual exploitation. James Franco.
16:37The arrest of disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein in 2018 served as a reckoning of sorts,
16:43a moment in history where other victims of sexual exploitation and abuse felt emboldened to speak up
16:49and tell their stories. One of the things that I've learned is that this is a conversation that
16:55obviously needs to be had. There are people, women and others, who have not been a part of this
17:02conversation, and I truly believe, and why I was wearing the pin, is that they need to be a part
17:08of
17:08this conversation. The career and reputation of James Franco certainly took a hit in the wake of this
17:13Weinstein effect, since multiple women accused the actor of taking advantage of his position as an acting
17:19coach. He's definitely got two personalities, and that doesn't mean he doesn't have a great sweet
17:25side, but when he has his other side, it's the complete polar opposite. Behavior that was designed
17:33to elicit certain favors in exchange for potential acting roles, with retaliation on the table if those
17:39favors weren't doled out. The suits were settled out of court, although Franco did admit that he had
17:44sex with his students during this time. Suppose, at the time, my thinking was, if it's consensual,
17:54okay. Fatal DUI, Amy Locaine. The 2020 short film Cooties served as the first film role in over 10 years
18:02for Amy Locaine, who had formerly retired in 2006 while she was raising a family. Locaine was living a
18:08quiet life in New Jersey as a wife and mother at the time of the accident. Unfortunately,
18:13Locaine was involved in a fatal car crash in 2010, one that proved fatal to the wife of Fred Seaman,
18:19who had been attempting to turn into his driveway. I drove home while I was intoxicated, and
18:27the consequences were devastating. Locaine's conviction in sentencing proved to be equally
18:33controversial, since it was later found that the initial decision of three years was too lenient.
18:39The actress ultimately served more years in prison while appealing this decision,
18:43before finally being released in December of 2024. Amy now speaks to high school students about the
18:50dangers of drunk driving. I want to do everything in my power to prevent other people from going through
18:58something that horrible and that difficult. Felony Torture
19:02Joe Sun The martial arts training of Joe Sun
19:05made this actor an easy fit for multiple direct-to-video acting gigs. A relatively small-time
19:11actor is now attracting his biggest headlines ever, and they're not over movie roles. Then,
19:16Sun's resemblance to the famous James Bond villain Oddjob resulted in his casting as Random Task in the
19:22hit spy parody Austin Powers' International Man of Mystery. It would be DNA evidence submitted for
19:28Sun's role in a separate crime, that of felony vandalism, that would go on to connect the actor
19:34to a cold case that occurred 18 years prior. Sun was sentenced to life in prison for his role in
19:40a
19:40felony torture case that left a female victim traumatized and assaulted. The actor's prison life
19:46would result in yet another crime, this time for the murder of Joe Sun's cellmates, Michael Graham.
19:51A month after his son arrived, officials at the prison found his 50-year-old cellmate
19:56dead in their quarters. Murder Johnny Lewis
19:59It's unclear as to whether or not a 2011 motorcycle accident caused some sort of undiagnosed trauma
20:06within the otherwise promising life of actor Johnny Lewis. Johnny Lewis starred in the show Sons of
20:13Anarchy and officials say he went on a violent rampage. The star of such films as Aliens vs.
20:19Predator Requiem and television shows like Sons of Anarchy was staying at a bed and breakfast known
20:25to other creatives in the area of Los Angeles, California. We got a series of 911 calls,
20:29neighbors called, said there's someone screaming, I hear glass breaking, our officers rushed up there.
20:34By the time we got there, Mr. Lewis was already dead. His behavior proved to be violently erratic,
20:40however, with Lewis having assaulted a number of his neighbors prior to murdering his landlady,
20:45Kathryn Davis, as well as her pet cat. Johnny Lewis fell to his death after committing these crimes,
20:51although authorities maintain that this fatal fall was accidental, and not a self-induced act
20:57of destruction.
20:58We believe that Mr. Lewis was responsible for this.
21:01Hate Crimes
21:02Mark Wahlberg
21:04There is an astonishingly long rap sheet of crimes when it comes to the history of Mark Wahlberg's
21:09troubled youth. The actor has freely admitted his wrongdoings as a teenager when he committed
21:19hate crimes against persons of color in his neighborhood. The actor only served 45 days in
21:24jail for a 1988 attack on a Vietnamese man, Johnny Trent. Yet Wahlberg brazenly
21:39requested a pardon from the state of Massachusetts in 2014 for his crime. A pardon that was not
21:45issue. Mark Wahlberg would later go on to state that he'd personally met with Trinh in an effort
21:50to clean his personal slate. I'm committed to turning my life around and becoming a productive
21:54person in the community. Vehicular Manslaughter
21:57Matthew Broderick
21:58Careless Driving
22:00That was what the legal team representing Matthew Broderick eventually had levied against their client
22:05after a tragic car accident took place back in 1987. You were with Matthew in the car and that
22:12car struck another one and it ended two lives. Broderick's car swerved into the wrong lane while
22:18the actor was vacationing in Northern Ireland. The passengers in the other car, a mother and daughter,
22:24were killed at the scene. I was in shock because I was the only living witness and Matthew was
22:30unconscious and had amnesia and the other two women died. Broderick, in the meantime, awoke in a
22:35hospital with some very serious injuries, together with no recollection of the incidents. The initial
22:41charges of causing death by dangerous driving were lowered to the aforementioned conviction,
22:46which let Broderick off with only a $175 fine. And it had very serious,
22:54traumatic, lasting effects on, I'm sure, Matthew and the family of the other women and me.
