01:14:31And after what you saw tonight, Joe, you can see why guys want nothing to do with him.
01:14:35Look, I mean, if I had anybody in his division, at any division, you're staying away from this guy.

01:15:47Every single question that we had about David Benavidez coming into this fight,
01:15:51would the speed carry, would the power carry, would his weight weigh him down against a natural cruiserweight?

01:16:13And then you see what Usyk has done, because when you look at what pound-for-pound means,
01:16:19it's if I would move to heavyweight or a heavyweight met me at my weight, who would win?
01:16:24Usyk and Inoue are the class.
01:16:26Bam is an amazing fighter.
01:16:28May get the next crack at Naoya Inoue.
01:16:30Anyway, there's Shakur Stevenson.
01:16:33Would you rather get embarrassed by Shakur or beat the hell down by this guy?
01:16:38You'd be embarrassed and beaten the hell out of him if you fight Benavidez.
01:16:43I've got to tell you, I'm putting him at one or two of the best in the world right now.

01:16:52Look, who does that to anybody in the ring of the guys that we're talking about?
01:16:57Who just goes out there and literally destroys them?
01:17:01And brutally.

01:17:03Is that how Chavez used to do that?

01:17:04Well, let me tell you, one of the greats of all time.
01:17:07You know, one of my favorites.
01:17:08But Benavidez does to his opponents what no other great fighter out there in the top five, ten does.
01:17:16He brutalizes them.
01:17:18I mean, it's not even fair.
01:17:20I mean, the idea that Benavidez was going to beat Zerto was not surprising.
01:17:25I thought he might win even a lopsided decision.
01:17:28But the way he beat him down, Zerto Ramirez, who's been in with good opponents during his career,
01:17:33who went the distance with Dimitri Beeble at 175 pounds, he didn't stand a chance in this fight.
01:17:39From the opening bell, the judges wide for Benavidez and that finish in the closing, what, 10, 15 seconds of
01:17:46that final round
01:17:47where Benavidez literally broke the face of Zerto Ramirez.
01:17:51A couple of rounds earlier, he might have broken the nose.
01:17:54At the end, you could see above the eye, he broke the face.
01:17:56That is how you make a statement.
01:17:58Look, at the end of the day, you've got to give a lot of credit to Gilberto Zerto Ramirez.
01:18:04After he got dropped in that fourth round, the next round he comes back, Joe, throws 94 punches.
01:18:10It was probably his best round of the fight.
01:18:12So, what does that tell you about the man that Benavidez beat to be the man now?
01:18:18Well, look, even though Zerto had, you know, a decent round for one round,
01:18:27again, Benavidez allowed that to happen.
01:18:29It wasn't because he was being taken advantage of, but anyway.
01:18:32No, Benavidez is just, his nickname suits him, a monster.
01:18:36He is a monster.
01:18:38I wouldn't want any of my guys ever fighting him, I can tell you that.
01:18:41Well, Chris doesn't care because he makes fights.
01:18:44He likes to see guys get in there in dangerous fights.
01:18:47He called out, but we knew that before.
01:18:49He said, Canelo's in the building.
01:18:51Any chance we ever get that fight, Chris?
01:18:54Let me say first, now that Terrence Crawford has retired,
01:18:59nobody walks the walk like David Benavidez.
01:19:02When he calls you out, he will make it happen.
01:19:05He didn't have to fight some of the fights he fought at 68 or 75.
01:19:08He could have fought somebody else coming up to Cruiserweight,
01:19:11but he wanted this fight, and he made it happen.
01:19:14The Canelo fight, I don't believe will happen.
01:19:16I don't think Canelo wants that fight.
01:19:18He could have had it multiple times over the last couple of years.
01:19:21I'm okay with that at this point.
01:19:23Canelo has accomplished a ton in his career, fought all the best guys.
01:19:27Went, what is it, 36 rounds with Gennady Golovkin over the course of his career.
01:19:31He has decided that that is not the fight for him, but there are some great fights out there for
01:19:36David Benavidez.
01:19:37If he decides to stay at Cruiserweight, the other guy who's in the arguably spot for the top Cruiserweight
01:19:42is Jaya Pataya, who's out there ready to fight Benavidez.
01:19:45He could go back down to 175.
01:19:47Dimitri Bivol's got a fight against Michael Eifert coming up.
01:19:50He could take that fight.
01:19:51Artur Benerbiev is out there at 175.
01:19:54This man is a bona fide pay-per-view star.
01:19:57Fifth time fighting on pay-per-view.
01:19:59You heard this crowd tonight.
01:20:00Canelo Alvarez came onto the screen, guys, and they booed the hell out of him.
01:20:04This is a David Benavidez crowd.
01:20:06These are David Benavidez Mexicans.
01:20:08They're going to follow him wherever he goes.
01:20:10He has put himself on the map as one of the biggest stars in boxing,
01:20:13and whoever he wants to fight next will get in line to fight him.
01:20:16And look, how do you not appreciate what David Benavidez did?
01:20:20He took on the baddest man in the weight class, and he stepped to him from the first moment of
01:20:26the fight,
01:20:26met him in the center of the ring, and said, let's rumble.
01:20:30This is Cinco de Mayo.
01:20:31This is our party.
01:20:33And look, he looks clean.
01:20:35I think he probably looked worse in one of those early sparring sessions with headgear on than he does right
01:20:41now.
01:20:41And, Joe, that's not easy to do at this level.
01:20:44No, it really isn't, especially with the type of gloves they were using.
01:20:48Those are, you know, 10-ounce pro gloves, and they do a lot more damage than the big gloves in
01:20:53the gym.
01:20:53So you're absolutely right.
01:20:54That being said, you know, Benavidez, I could see a Boval fight.
01:21:00I'd probably be leaning heavily for Benavidez in that fight, to tell you the truth.
01:21:07And against anybody.
01:21:09I can't, I'm trying to think of somebody who can do that.
01:21:11I think, Joe, I do think Styles makes fights, and that's a pretty damn good fight.
01:21:14But, like, Boval just beat better BF, who's kind of a, not a similar fighter, but he's a come-forward,
01:21:19aggressive fighter, strong.
01:21:20And Boval is not going to stand there the way Zerner-Rohieres did.
01:21:23Not to say that Benavidez would lose to him, but I think it's a very different kind of fight.
01:21:28That's what makes it an exciting fight and a huge fight.
01:21:30That's one.
01:21:31He said that Boval is number one on his hit list.
01:21:34I would love to see that happen before the end of the year.
01:21:36So would I.
01:21:37And I've got to tell you, he'd have Boval on his bike all night long.
01:21:42Bernard, you made this point, though.
01:21:43I want to just touch on it, because he looks great.
01:21:46Like, he looks like he hasn't really been touched in this fight.
01:21:49And one of my concerns about Benavidez as he approaches 30 is, would he be shopworn at different states of
01:21:54his career?
01:21:54He hasn't been in a lot of wars.
01:21:56He's the one putting war on people, for lack of a better phrase.
01:22:00But he's not absorbing a lot of punishment in these fights.
01:22:02He is not absorbing a lot of punishment.
01:22:04And so, you know, 30 fights, I mean, maybe in today's market, the guys had 60, 70, 80 fights throughout
01:22:12their careers for many, many decades and came out, you know, fine after it.
01:22:17Not all of them, but sure.
01:22:18But 30 fights is not a lot of fights, especially when you're not taking punishment.
01:22:22He's not taking punishment.
01:22:24I'm trying to think of a fight where he took punishment.
01:22:26Can you give me a hint?
01:22:26It's most like Caleb Plant went the full distance.
01:22:29David Murrell landed some okay shots on him.
01:22:31Otherwise, most of the punishment has been dished out by David Benavidez.
01:22:35He could be the monster.

01:22:56Because this is the type of performance that puts you on not only the map, but a crossover star type

01:23:04And it's so fan friendly.

01:24:29And it was Jose Tito Sanchez finishing in the 10th round in the waiting seconds of the fight, getting the
01:24:37knockout victory over the unbeaten Jorge Chavez, improving to 16-0 with 10 knockouts.
01:24:43And then it was Oscar Duarte in a controversial win over Angel Fierro, a split decision over 12 rounds.
01:24:51Fierro came in three-plus pounds overweight and nonetheless was able to weather the early storm and then dominate for
01:24:58parts of the fight.

01:25:02The crowd wasn't happy, but it was a heck of a war.

01:25:23And what a resurgence, boxing-wise, from Jaime Munguilla.
01:25:27And then our main event that you just enjoyed just a few moments ago.
01:25:31Gilberto Ramirez walked in as a unified man at cruiserweight.
01:25:36He walked out battered, beaten, and stopped by a vicious monstruo.
