00:23I'm just looking at resumes because we're going to do 10,000 ounces this year and we
00:29have a lot to do so you need good people that you can count on. The truth is somebody can
00:36write a really good resume and be terrible.
00:38Thirty-year-old Parker Schnabel is leaning on his crew like never before. After years of running the cuts himself,
00:48he's testing his top lieutenant's ability to lead.
00:51Mitch and Brennan are getting sulfur ready to go. We'll have their wash plant firing up there very soon.
00:56We have two wash plants already running here on Dominion, Bob and Slucifer.
01:05Two weeks into the season and with only 400 ounces, Parker wants his 40-person crew firing on old cylinders
01:15to bring in a big haul this week and put him on track for his 10,000-ounce season goal.
01:21We do have a big crew this year, you know, a bunch of new people. Tyson has a lot of
01:27training to do.
01:28People need to understand what the expectations are and when they're doing things wrong and if they can't correct it,
01:34then we just need to get rid of it. Which is always a challenge.
01:42Parker has given me more and more responsibility. This year from last year, it's probably about three times as much.
01:50We have so many new people and with Parker still expecting more than double productivity as last year, that's a
02:00large ask from a lot of new people.
02:02Parker's charged rising star Tyson Lee with overseeing the huge Dominion Creek operation, where two cuts are already producing gold,
02:13the bridge cut and the recently opened Golden Mile, which Parker believes could deliver big numbers if the crew keeps
02:23it running.
02:26Hopefully the new people have a better understanding of what we expect and what we need out of them here
02:32as a mining outfit. And we're figuring out their calibre.
02:38Right now we have Michael digging pay down by Bob in the bridge cut.
02:42The cuts looking hella nice. Clearly Parker's not around. He's going for a big season this year. The size of
02:48his operation, that's massive.
02:51New recruit Mike Thompson is a veteran gold miner with years of experience operating heavy machinery.
02:59I did five years at a neighbor mine. Parker offered me this job and very hard to say no to.
03:05Tyson's also relying on another new hire to keep the bridge cut gold coming in.
03:11I have Amy learning how to run loader right now. She's feeding Bob and I want to throw a bunch
03:17of stuff at her with the wash plan.
03:21I have zero, zero mining experience.
03:36So for the last three days I have been doing some training and today is my first day on my
03:43own.
03:45Going from being a teacher just half a month ago, it's going to be a big transition.
03:54Greenhorn Amy Lee traded a career as a science teacher to become a gold miner.
04:02Taylor and Tatiana are my besties. Tatiana actually trained me in a rock truck, which was amazing. We had such
04:10a good time.
04:11And then on day two they just let me loose on my own and that was that.
04:16After proving herself, Tyson is putting Amy in charge of one of the most important jobs, feeding paydirt into the
04:25wash plant.
04:29How's it going Amy?
04:31Good, you?
04:32Pretty good.
04:33Good.
04:33How are you finding things?
04:35Now that I've gotten over a little bit of the fear, after a couple of hours it's getting better.
04:39That's good.
04:41I'd like to do a once over the plant with you and just kind of give you some things to
04:45look at.
04:46Awesome.
04:46So there's this tail drum up here, so you can see how it's nice and clean.
04:50Yeah.
04:50That's how it should always be.
04:52Yeah.
04:53If the belt walks left or right, that can be an issue.
04:56When you're feeding the wash plant, a rock gets stuck on the belt and I've had it cut the belt
05:02clean in half like a razor blade before.
05:05Yeah.
05:05If you think something is wrong, just shut it down.
05:09Okay.
05:09Just run up here, open this, rip on this.
05:14That's the breaker.
05:15Then run up there, open the bypass, close the main.
05:19Any questions?
05:20Not at this moment.
05:22Just a sponge.
05:23Yeah, let me just absorb.
05:24Yeah.
05:25You absorbed it all.
05:27Still a little bit like holy .
05:29Yeah.
05:29Oh, you'll get it.
05:30Alrighty.
05:31Go make us some gold.
05:33Okay.
05:33Have fun.
05:36When you think of all the responsibility you have and you're the sole person watching the plant, it plays on
05:45your mind a little bit.
05:49I'm really happy with Amy.
05:51Can't wait to see what she can do this season.
05:55Hey, Tyson.
05:55You on here?
05:56Tyson?
05:57Yep.
05:58Go ahead.
05:58I got a pretty big up here.
06:00Can you come have a look?
06:01I'm getting flooded out.
06:03I'm on my way.
06:06Last thing I want to do is tell Parker that the cut's flooded and we got to shut Bob down.
06:13Man, that's a lot of melt water.
06:16That's not what I needed, man.
06:18We have a lake in here.
06:20We spent so much time getting the bridge cut drain.
06:23It's getting flooded out again.
06:24The water's backing up the bridge line of the cut.
06:28I'm thinking that 8-inch culvert's not big enough.
06:31Oh, yeah.
06:32We need to rattle your hoe over and dig up this road.
06:35We got that big ol' culvert up there.
06:37So let's throw that puppy in.
06:39Let's get this water out here.
06:45So we got to get this water out because right now the only pay we can chuck to Bob is
06:50in this square.
06:51If it's flooding out, Bob's going to shut down.
06:55As the 114-acre bridge cut thaws, melt water seeps into its drainage ditches,
07:01where it is then channeled through an 8-inch culvert under Bob's only access road.
07:07But the narrow culvert is overwhelmed by the volume of melt water, causing the ditches to overflow and flood the
07:16cut.
07:16To stop the flood, Mike must dig up the access road and replace the small culvert with a much larger
07:2436-inch culvert,
07:26then rebuild the road to Wash Plant Bob.
07:32I'm going to take the small little 8-inch culvert out and let the water go.
07:36If I don't hurry up and get this water figured out, Bob's going to run out of pay.
07:41That's bad news. You ain't sluicing, you ain't producing.
07:52Here comes some water, boys.
08:05Let's go get this culvert, but it's the only thing I got kicking around here, so hopefully I can do
08:11the job.
08:12Throw her in.
08:13Throw her in.
08:16There.
08:17Send it.
08:21There's one way to put a culvert in.
08:25See if this bag falls out on it.
08:28That could suck, eh?
08:40Oh, this is sketchy, man.
08:44Anybody bring some extra undies?
08:51I can safely say that culvert's in place.
08:54I'm pretty proud of this. I feel pretty good.
08:58Mike, save the day.
09:00That was fun. That was exciting.
09:02Nice work, Mike.
09:02Yeah.
09:05She's porking.
09:06Right on.
09:07See ya.
09:09We got that done.
09:10Tyson's happy.
09:12Pretty proud of myself.
09:13Pretty happy.
09:14It was like, what, an hour?
09:15Hour and five minutes?
09:16We got her done.
09:18Well, you know, Michael sure stepped up to the plate and saved the day.
09:22He got that culvert in.
09:23He got all the water leaving us.
09:25He executed it perfectly.
09:28We just gotta keep the gold coming in.
09:52Gold prices are up there,
09:54so we decided to get the **** with the program right out the bat.
09:58We were the first ones sluicing in the Yukon.
10:02The early bird cut is done, so now we're gonna expand it.
10:06Ten miles southwest, king of the Klondike, Tony Beetz,
10:11has already mined out his first cut,
10:14holding in 632 ounces of his 6,500-ounce target.
10:24Since we had a nice early start,
10:27now the trick is gonna be to stay ahead of the game.
10:32So we can't let up.
10:36After a hot start on his Indian River claim,
10:39Tony's nearly out of pay dirt,
10:42and he needs to open more ground at the early bird cut fast.
10:49So what I want to do is strip here 100 feet wide all the way to the other end,
10:56so they can take all this gravel, load it up, dump it in the old cut.
11:00So we can get people on the go down here.
11:04Just like Parker,
11:06Tony's also relying on a crew of new recruits to get the job done.
11:12We're gonna have another 40 more people this year,
11:15so you gotta make do with whatever you can get,
11:18and then I hope they turn out okay.
11:21Oh, this is my first year here.
11:23Who wouldn't want to come to the Yukon and work?
11:25I love it here.
11:26I love the chaos.
11:29We've got a lot of equipment packed in here,
11:32weaving together.
11:34Rock truck drivers Tyler Swann and Sam Moore
11:37are part of an all-new crew
11:40tasked with getting the early bird extension
11:43down to pay in just one week.
11:45I'm pretty new to gold mining.
11:48I've only been at this for a little over a month now,
11:52and there's very rarely a dull moment.
11:55Tony's approach?
11:56Throw the newbies in at the deep end
11:59and hope they can swim.
12:02Get the out of the way
12:03and get that other rock truck out of the way
12:05so this will get out of the way.
12:08Make some room.
12:10I mean, you got two trucks
12:12if they can't find their own way.
12:14This rock truck come back in there.
12:17Andrew, make sure he does.
12:18Andrew, make sure he does.
12:20Don't drive over the pipeline, that .
12:22See, you know what I mean?
12:25The bucket is over there,
12:26the truck is away the all over there.
12:28You see where the bucket is, young fella?
12:30Look at me.
12:33me.
12:34How come you never answer your radio?
12:36I've got all my charges for him, sir.
12:39Don't her, okay?
12:40Get him a radio.
12:41Crazy.
12:42Just crazy.
12:44I want you underneath the bucket.
12:46There you go.
12:50It was pretty sparse on training here.
12:54And then off into the deep end,
12:57it can be a little bit stressful.
13:01Back it up a bit, back it up a bit.
13:09It's a pretty tight spot we're working in.
13:11We've got a bit of a bend to turn around here.
13:15Now we're all in this together.
13:18And you have about eyes on everything.
13:26Sam has just toppled one of Tony's essential $300,000 rock trucks.
13:33Jacob, I'm gonna need some help.
13:35Jacob, do you copy? Jacob?
13:54He's not doing this for sure check.
13:54He'sa fill the bucket up.
13:56Please help check out tay WAR is to stand toZegap,
13:56Go back with others who are looking for buying a tattoo.
13:56Come back land and走 the truck with a cabbie.
14:06Kine 스 swix Zain 원.
14:14my truck sort of tipped over here my box gave way under the bank uh we're gonna need some help
14:32at indian river tony's racing to extend his cut down to pay before wash plant sluice a lot's pay pile
14:41runs out but rookie driver sam has flipped his rock truck bringing the operation to a halt
14:53the game plans uh go up use the 480 if it'll pull it and hook on to the high point
14:58of the box and pull
14:59it back over on the right side up all right let's go flip this truck over
15:09rushing to the rescue is heavy equipment operator jacob moore
15:18hopefully it comes over nicely
15:28nice and easy
15:37drive ahead very slowly
15:48everything went smooth and properly done
15:52we're back on the road now so hopefully we didn't lose too much time
15:56and i'm feeling a little bit stressed about what tony will think
16:04do you solve a favor and do that one more time and then you're out of here
16:07you know there's a couple down there you do it once you're in you do it twice you're out
16:13so pay attention with you please
16:16copy that
16:37i'm definitely back in the corner at this point i've got all this ground that i just finished paying off
16:41and no water license to be able to mine it and it's just like it's there taunting me
16:45really this has left me with no other choices but to move on
16:49100 miles east of tony rick ness hasn't mined a single ounce of gold
16:56forced to abandon a pile of pay and the richest ground he's ever mined
17:02at his duncan creek claim rick's committed his entire operation
17:06to gamble on new land at the end of the day i had to make a deal with troy in
17:12lightning creek
17:12you know i have to do something before we lose out on that even
17:15and there's people snooping around for for ground with licenses on it everywhere and
17:19i can't afford to wait any longer
17:23last week i'm here to make a deal rick met with landowner troy taylor
17:2815 percent royalty payment we're going to do a hundred ounce payment
17:31and we can get started on there right away made a handshake deal to lease lightning creek
17:37and moved his entire mining operation eight miles northwest
17:42well we're at lightning creek
17:45we're going to go and hit this as hard as we can
17:50this year you know gold price is once again record high so we got about 100 ounces a week
17:54to get by the end of the year if we're going to get to 1800 ounces so
17:57we really got to get a move on we've broken ground down at lightning creek
18:02plenty of challenges ahead of us this is new ground we got to learn
18:06time to get on some gold
18:10rick's opened the diamond cut and is depending on his crew to locate the pockets of gold rich
18:17pager in this notoriously unpredictable area
18:36the diamond cuts go definitely going a good speed
18:40but at the start of any cut it takes some time to get prepped up
18:44this ain't bad but it may seem frivolous that we're just moving dirt from point a to point b
18:49but this is what we need to do efficiency is key not going to lie this is a good day
18:55i just want to make sure i'm keeping up with the pace because at the end of the season i
19:00want a
19:00big gold bonus so you know whatever it takes to get down to pay and start moving it is what
19:05i'll do
19:13what the hey ricky can you hear me
19:19i think we're down to pay
19:28guy you get over here
19:35look at that
19:37you ever seen pay dirt
19:38pay dirt that's what it is right there boulders and gravel
19:42pay dirt is gravelly and rocky gold bearing material
19:47that lies beneath the waste topsoil known as overburden
19:52that's the with the gold in it right yeah let's look at it that looks good that whole floor down
19:59there that's the painter we're looking for that came quick when we don't have to go down 150 feet
20:03hey just eating this area right here yeah it's bigger than pick it's found i know i know that's
20:07exciting and that should make for quick stripping and then we've got below that according to troy
20:13anywhere it's 12 to 15 feet of pay yeah so put the overburden where it wants to go and
20:18we'll have some a good amount of painter to expose here in no time let's get back on the gold
20:22let's do it let's do it let's go we're already down to pay you know i'm not used to that
20:25we're
20:26used to going 100 some feet through overburden just to get to it and it's nice that it's so
20:30shallow here um bailey's doing a great job trucks are moving dirt sun's out good day
20:37with the team on the pay layer rick tasks the crew with stripping the entire diamond cut
20:43compared to like rick's claims it's a huge difference because we're moving about 160
20:48feet worth of overburden and then over here it's you know five feet it's my first time seeing pay
20:56once we get that through the sluice box and through the plan it'll be good to see the actual gold
21:02while the team works rick takes a moment to make his handshake deal with troy official and sign the lease
21:15ridiculous i'm kind of reading through it and i don't i just don't like some of the stuff i'm seeing
21:21oh yeah hey z you got copy yeah go ahead and please why don't you come over here and i'll
21:28show you
21:30something all right what's up buddy you're gonna make me read no i've got an updated agreement with
21:43troy he's given himself an awful lot of power i think where how it works is that he i i
21:47have to
21:48submit my mining plan to him and then he decides how it works right that says that he shall have
21:53access
21:54to the equipment and or personnel at his discretion well that means to me that means yeah on a tuesday
21:58he come and shut down the sluice box i think it's a bit of an overreach i just don't you
22:04i always
22:05assumed when you lease the ground then you get to do with what you want like how your mining plan
22:09is
22:09and this sounds like this sounds like you sign a lease and then he has all the power i don't
22:14know
22:14what the angle is there i don't know if there is an angle at this point i'm just i'm waiting
22:18to stumble
22:18around a corner and find them like this like whoa i pulled the you know what i mean like stupid
22:22like
22:23that gets your wheels turning right let's just read over the contract a little bit more
22:28we're down here we're keep plugging away yeah yeah no i like i said i appreciate it screw my head
22:34on straight make sure that this deal is in our favor and keep on trucking keeps everyone here thanks
22:39buddy all right we'll talk to you see you at dinner yeah yeah
22:49what the is this if i fail to make a payment a minimum of twenty thousand dollars every month
22:55it may terminate this agreement within three business days even when i'm not producing gold
23:02now i'm on the hook for 20 grand a month more i look at this the more i'm saying it's
23:06not a chance in
23:07hell i'm signing this i don't know why he's putting all this extra here it's just not uh it's not
23:12sitting right with me i've worked with troy for a while and i trust the guy but it's fishy that
23:16i just
23:16paid him off and now we're going back and suddenly he's got more ground for us and we're not paying
23:22him
23:22again you know i'm kind of thinking he might be using my lack of options to turn things in his
23:29favor
23:30rick has already spent over 40 000 in fuel and wages mining lightning creek but it could be
23:40all for nothing i'm trying to stay calm but i'm getting pretty riled up about it because i'm
23:44already down there working um i've got money into this i've got i've got guys down there i've got
23:49equipment down there um and i'm not stopping uh but i'm not signing this so he's gonna have to change
23:54his way of thinking because that's that's right now we have two wash plants running they have a
24:14little bit of time to do a lap of going into the bridge cut checking on bob making sure everyone's
24:20doing all right at dominion tyson lee is maxing out sluice on the golden mile and in the bridge cut
24:29he has new operator mike digging out pay dirt
24:35i want to prove to this crew that i'm capable i can do the job like whatever they throw at
24:40me i
24:41definitely have the taste of that gold fever while greenhorn amy in charge of running wash plant bob
24:48feeds 250 yards of pay an hour i am making sure that i am keeping a constant flow of pay
24:59dirt going up the
25:00conveyors and also making sure they're not getting clogged up or many other things that i'm sure
25:39it's all clogged up at the top i just saw rocks shooting from the side
25:47unless there's a rock jammed in somewhere like up against our chain drive that caused it to not
25:52want to spin but first things first get all the dirt off the belts tyson suspects wash plant bob has
26:00rocks lodged in its hopper feeders internal conveyor chains stopping the mechanism from moving pay dirt
26:06toward the shaker deck leading to it piling up the solution dig out the hopper feeder removing all rocks
26:15lodges lodged in the chain conveyor then clear any rocks from the super stacker's belt rollers
26:21and start the plant up again
26:28yeah we just want to clear it out yeah because if we fired the super stacker up
26:33they'd be flying around like popcorn okay go get sucked down into the tail drum and slice the belt okay
26:40you did a great job though amy thanks
26:54what happened this chain bind up on something like a rock got stuck in the chain drive okay did we
27:02anything up i don't know we're just trying to shovel it out and make sure that the belt's all good
27:08you can see there's a lot of big rocks on the conveyor belt itself give me that shovel
27:17and watch out okay
27:28look at the bottom of that belt you know it's serious when parker shows up and jumps into auction
27:36tail drum is packed full of oh let's just get the big ones out of there
27:45let's climb down once parker's done doing parker things
27:50i think we're good to go nice work i'm climbing down you're still up there generator's getting fired up
28:11you want some dirt hey parker you want some dirt
28:16yeah i'm so kind of safe fire it up we're ready to sleuth
28:38i'm so happy that i was able to spot it right away and shut it down because there
28:46were so many rocks that were jammed up in the belt
28:53how's amy doing she's out with that well yeah definitely she did it exactly how we showed her
28:58yeah all right see on the flip side see ya amy's doing wonderful couldn't have done anything better
29:04really the bar is set high
29:21with the gold price as is it doesn't take long to make a small fortune so to speak
29:26so let's make hay when the sun shines i used to say at the early bird extension tony is battling
29:34to
29:34open his new ground before his only running wash plant sluice a lot runs out of pain we lost a
29:41bit
29:41of stripping time so we have to get the early bird extension cut ready just stay ahead stay ahead stay
29:48ahead
29:50but he's dealing with a batch of rookies who are struggling
29:57i'll bet you out of all the trucks that are driving around there and everything
30:00none of them still have a clue as to what has happened i think some have it some will never
30:04get it
30:05so i was gonna snoop around for a second
30:17i'm back here today and i am really glad tony didn't fire me tony has his eye on greenhorn sam
30:25who flipped his rock truck earlier in the week i'm still on pretty thin ice you feel like anything
30:33could get you fired if you're not careful with the clock ticking tony has brought in experienced
30:39truck driver mason mcintyre to help out the conditions down here are pretty sloppy right now
30:47it's causing like a lot of big ruts which is hard to drive in sometimes for some people
30:53you gotta adjust to the conditions and some people catch on really quick and
30:59are used to it and some people just don't catch on at all and that's how mistakes happen
31:05that could be quite dangerous honestly if you can't run something like this which is
31:10not simple but a lot more simple than another piece of equipment oh somebody dumped her
31:21you people it's gonna be a mess i'll be right over there and have a look at it okay don't
31:30move
31:51at tony beats early bird cut another three hundred thousand dollar rock truck has flipped
31:59the one tooth system seems to work pretty good if you up something twice because i'll just fire the
32:06and i'll be the one that's happy
32:13did the idiot still buy the truck or was it yeah okay
32:19where the was it
32:42i'll scoop it out you can roll in the cap let's get the thing out of there okay okay
32:50all we gotta do is take a little bit of dirt out tony uses the 480 excavator to empty the
32:57rock truck's
32:57box of dirt and push it upright hopefully they'll learn something and then the next time we know the
33:03bottle part of me is happy to see that it happens to other people besides me but i mean i
33:10feel for the
33:11it's pretty unpleasant when the box slips over on your rock truck
33:20there you go hey mason drive ahead of it
33:26this right off there you go see you later man thank you tony
33:34that's my first truck i tipped over it was a little scary tony was pretty relaxed i think i had
33:40the luck because i'm here my second season tony's crew are back in the race to get down to pay
33:49before
33:49sluice a lot runs out if you want to do x amount ounces a year you need x amount of
33:55the people so
33:56you'd rather put up with some more i suppose but sometimes not that easy especially when it costs
34:01money i mean they turn trucks over but sometimes you wonder what the heck you're doing
34:22i asked try to come down and meet me here um i'm basically gonna tell him that his contract is
34:26bull i mean i don't know what he wants me to do with this i'm not budging off that ground
34:29and i'm
34:30not signing this so we need to come to some kind of compromise after moving his crew to a new
34:40claim
34:40on lightning creek rick ness has called a meeting with landlord troy taylor to negotiate the terms of
34:48the lease hey troy hey rick how you doing good good to see you oh we gotta put some signatures
34:57on paper
34:57and make it um legal there's no way i have gotten over the contract and a lot of things that
35:06i don't
35:06like it says that you have the right to change the mining plan at any time you can pull my
35:12equipment
35:12and my personnel when you see fit there's an awful lot of power going into your hands here i mean
35:18i
35:18would like to think that our last contract went pretty smooth i think it's coming down to a
35:22trusting and you know for me right here in this contract looks like you don't trust me at all
35:28and so i'm kind of wondering why i trust this you know yeah i get that i it's nothing personal
35:37it's just since the last agreement things have changed so much with the water licenses these days
35:43if there's any blemish if you are doing anything wrong maybe you weren't here on a day that something's
35:51going sideways it will be reflected on me it could result in getting my water license revoked
35:59i want to keep mining so i have to i have to have some teeth in this uh in this
36:04agreement
36:12i can kind of see where you're coming from troy but i don't believe that this level of supervision
36:17is necessary i mean i i don't i don't want to feel like i'm looking over my shoulder all the
36:21time and
36:22that's why i brought this um you know off the bat that's the 100 ounces that i owe you as
36:27a minimum
36:27royalty on this deal and i'd be willing to give that to you up front right now today and get
36:33rid of this
36:54that's all i've got i i can't i can't back up on that i just can't
37:00i understand it's got to be a tough one to tough pill to swallow um
37:13what if i buy it
37:19that's um it's a big one for me
37:24i would need another another 200 ounces on top of this so 300 ounces total yes
37:39it's just it's just too much you know i get that grounds at a premium with the water license right
37:44now but it's a lot of money on the line and i won't be squeezed it's not going to happen
37:51how about i get you another 100 ounces that's 200 ounces total and then we then we call that good
38:05i'm still responsible for the water license until i get paid as you know i'm i'm still on the hook
38:11how
38:11about by the end of the month and then we part ways this is gone your name's off it i
38:18take over the ground
38:19in a month in a month your liability's gone you're paid
38:26rick that's a lot of gold to produce in a month you got a lot of stuff to do so
38:30if that's what it's
38:31going to take to mine this ground my way that's that's what we're going to do i'll make it happen
38:37well i like your determination let's do it call good yeah all right deal done well we don't need
38:48this anymore rick ness has just purchased another 1600 acres of land for seven hundred thousand dollars
38:58in gold i'm not sure what i just did i think i came out on top gold prices are higher
39:03than ever but
39:04right now it seems that a ground with a water license on it is even harder to find he owns
39:09it
39:09it's all his so hope it's good ground and i wish him the best the guys are probably going to
39:15question
39:15this this ground is we haven't even solution yet but we did test it we know there's gold so
39:19i need to get this ground i need to get us going this was the only way i saw how
39:23to do it
39:33whoo we've hired a lot of people this year i'm ethan i'm reya i'm jordan they've come with a range
39:40of skills i've milked cows my whole life demolition side of things i was a line cook before this the
39:46revolving door of new people is not going to stop this year new recruits have come from far
39:52and wide i went for a motorcycle ride 3500 kilometers from home to find parker hello hey
39:59parker you're steve right yes yes good to meet you i heard that you just showed up on a motorcycle
40:03yeah it's sitting at your office i saw it there and i was like that then today is not the
40:08day for
40:08tourists and then nona found me was like oh he's in the loader no i've been running equipment for 30
40:15years and i've always dreamed of coming up here doing this do you have like work clothes and stuff
40:19this is it it's like literally in his writing clothes glad to have you on board can you take
40:25a picture here you go steve
40:34they'll be around at the early board extension cut for a while so there's gonna check see if they're
40:40down to pay
40:45at the early bird extension tony is panning to see if his crew has hit pay
40:55usually we look for gold in the pan you know we don't wash rocks for the fun of it
41:03uh huh there is no way hey jacob d copy jacob d copy
41:14okay bring them guys in and they're doing some panning in the cup
41:39in case you're wondering we're looking for gold
41:45look at that so that that's paid dirt to me you know you're looking at sam not exactly no
41:50well i that they don't surprise me i see that okay well there you go yeah that's what it's all
41:55about sam
41:55that actually looks very nice there's lots of colors in there it looks good
42:03circles up at the top yeah i'd say this cat is ready to be going in the sluice box hey
42:08oh for sure give you guys an idea as to what we're after yeah let's go get some more
42:15okay you bet yeah seeing that pan of gold put some gold in it was nice i've had a few
42:23mistakes
42:23coming in here but you know seeing the gold makes it worth it we have a lot of people that
42:28never even
42:28been in an airplane they come up here never mind the piece of equipment but somehow you're gonna have
42:33to make it work and as long as you get some gold in your pocket then on the end of
42:38the day it's all worth
42:45hello family hey guys how are you good how are you get that trail off the table holy crap bring
42:57it over
42:57here michael after a turbulent week at indian river tony is ready to weigh the gold from the early bird
43:07cut
43:08how's your new crew doing well greenhorns you know come with troubles we tipped the other truck box
43:14here there jacob had to rescue one the other day i mean you got the same thing on the hill
43:18right
43:18you get new people you got the same old problem most mine are returnees so yeah yeah well that's
43:24lucky because then you don't have half that crap do you want to see the fruits of your labors
43:30last week the early bird cut delivered 214 ounces
43:38you're ready mike yeah 10 20 30 60 70 80 100 110 120 130 140
43:55142.14
43:59worth nearly half a million dollars bringing tony's total to 774 ounces but it's a drop in production
44:10if tony is going to hit his 6 500 ounce goal his extension of the early bird cut will have
44:17to
44:17deliver a big improvement so we're still a little ways off from our goal still pretty early we'll get there
44:26that i think everybody should go back to work yeah sounds good when you guys go make us some more
44:31money okay take your with you mike bye yeah bye don't go away mad guys love you yeah off
44:53where's chris he's outside he didn't hear us chris oh his new hearing aids really don't work
45:01sorry i'm late no you're fine anything crazy happen down on your end it's just lots of dirt yeah just
45:09trying to stack everything up yeah we're really limited on space it's very tight up there mitch and
45:14brennan have been stripping ground at sulfur creek while at dominion tyson's kept two wash plants sluicing
45:23with new crew you got a new plant operator amy yep how's she doing she's doing really good yeah is
45:30she going from being a school teacher to a loader operator so that's definitely the change of pace
45:35for her but yeah she's doing really good yeah is it though if she was like a kindergarten to fifth
45:41grade it's probably not that much different i have to talk really slow to these guys so they understand
45:49me don't eat the crayons two plants running though all week yeah two plants you got two plants man you're
45:57responsible for both of them here we go slucifer wash plant slucifer's been running in the golden mile
46:06all week and parker's hoping to see an uptick from last week's 112 ounces let's see how the golden mile
46:14did
46:1610 30 40 70 80 100 ounces 120 130 150 152 even worth over 530 000 a 35 increase from
46:37last week perfect
46:38that's a lot better a lot better picked up a few ounces over last week definitely
46:44working some kinks out yeah next up bob at the bridge cut which is averaging 143 ounces a week
46:53we got 30 50 80 100 120 140 150 156.2 worth almost 550 thousand dollars wow that was close
47:09see yeah those two plans are four ounces off each other just a couple ounces off of each other that's
47:15weird yeah that's crazy this week we got 308.2 ounces which give us a season total of 707.9
47:26tyson has nearly doubled their season total you know last year at this time we were talking about 10 000
47:33ounces and we were all thinking it was pretty doable are we thinking thinking we're going to do it this
47:38year you're too early to ask that question yeah you guys need to get on the board now yeah oh
47:44dear
47:45hopefully next week there'll be three pans lined up there there will be right
47:52yeah sounds like we don't got a choice no all right have a good one thanks chris
