28:22This is interesting in a way, I mean we've made some changes sort of by committee, everybody has got an
28:29idea, but it looks like it's taken away some of their overtaking capacity with the new power units, whether you
28:36thought that was artificial or not, entirely up to you, but what it has done on this track layout anyway,
28:44it's certainly taken away the big differences between cars at certain parts of the racetrack.
28:50There's that nose change that Ted predicted, it's Alex Albon who's come into the pit lane, he will come out
28:56potentially ahead of Valtteri Bottas, but that nose change is taking a lot longer than you would expect, Bottas is
29:04a minute behind the race leader Lando Norris, and Alex Albon will be slightly longer behind Lando Norris, but he's
29:12been in for a pit stop, 20 seconds it took to get that nose changed.
29:17Here comes Charles Leclerc, round about 10 seconds, it takes you to go all the way from turn 16 to
29:22turn 17, and he's still behind Oscar Piastri, but continuing to gain on the McLaren, he took three tenths out
29:31of Piastri's advantage in the middle sector alone, as they crossed the line, the gap between Piastri and Leclerc, nine
29:37tenths of a second.
29:39As soon as the drivers are comfortable, they're slightly ahead of the car, you just could see it on their
29:44steering wheel, their hands on their steering wheel, it just all calms down, and they're half a second ahead of
29:51the car instead of half a second behind it,
29:53and they just do lovely sweeps of the wheel, they load the surface of the tyres, and they get the
29:59weight distribution where they need it, in terms of when they're going over curbs and all that,
30:05and as soon as you're not confident, you start moving the steering wheel a lot.
30:09Isaac Hajar started ninth, he's chasing Franco Colopinto to get back up into ninth.
30:16It'll be one spot outside the points, but after dispatching Bortoletto a few laps ago, he's continuing to make progress
30:24through the field.
30:26This is turning into a very comfortable sprint race indeed for Lando Norris, out in front.
30:32This has been a perfect afternoon so far for McLaren.
30:37Would you say this is one of, if not the most impressive weekend so far for Colopinto?
30:42Yes.
30:42I would say in his F1 career.
30:44Well, out qualified his teammate, reached the top ten in the sprint for the first time since 2024 in Austin,
30:50so yeah.
30:51Yeah, I would say it's his most assured looking performance, I think, as a Formula 1 driver, Franco Colopinto.
30:57That is very true.
30:59I think he's got potential, Franco Colopinto.
31:03He's not the worst driver we've ever seen in Formula 1.
31:06It's just, he's got into some silly moments.
31:08Four laps to go here.
31:10Charles Leclerc seems to be coming back for a renewed attack at Oscar Piastri.
31:14Remember that nine-tenths of a second gap?
31:16It's gone down to half a second when they cross the line.
31:19This is fantastic to hear in a Formula 1 car as he's making a change to his steering wheel at
31:24150 miles an hour.
31:26Just sweeping through it.
31:27Then it, oh, he had to do a correction in the middle there.
31:31Then it just tightens such a frustrating little left-hander turn eight.
31:34Then he's arrest any slide on that curb and just pin the throttle.
31:38And the acceleration would be, or is, relentless.
31:42You get a little beep in your ear or whatever to tell you to shift gear.
31:45And off they go down the track.
31:47And then you think, if I don't lift my foot off the throttle soon, I will take off.
31:52It's a super circuit here, given the confines of what they had to play with.
31:57And Herman Tilke and his team, when they came to design a track,
32:01and I think it's used for about 100 days a year of racing now.
32:05It's a semi-permanent racetrack when the NFL finishes business in early February.
32:11It's wrapped around a stadium, isn't it?
32:13A Hard Rock Stadium.
32:14It's extraordinary how they've made so many fast sections that are through the car parks of a stadium.
32:20If they'd have done this sort of thing in Las Vegas,
32:22we'd never have left Caesar's Palace in the early 80s.
32:24We'd have been racing there all the time.
32:26But that car park racetrack wasn't great.
32:29That was a bit twitchy from Charles Leclerc going into the left-hander.
32:34I think Piastri's got him covered.
32:36It seems that way, but you never know.
32:39One slight mistake from a car here,
32:43and suddenly your opponent is right on you.
32:46Lap 17, three to go.
32:49Piastri's in second.
32:50McLaren, one, two.
32:51In the sprint, as they were last year here.
32:55And they became the first constructor to finish one-two in a sprint race and a Grand Prix in the
33:01same weekend.
33:02So once he got in the dirty air, Leclerc behind, got a little bit closer to the McLaren, he lost
33:06three-quarters of a second to Piastri.
33:10And a Formula One car goes an awful long way in three-quarters of a second.
33:14Certainly does.
33:16Vando Norris, fastest man on track.
33:19Now lapping in the low.
33:211.32s, there's Isaac Hadjar.
33:22Oh, we picked him up late.
33:24And that was a very opportunist move from Isaac Hadjar going through Turn 4.
33:29What a brilliant piece of driving to get past Franco Colopinto.
33:33That was F2-style overtaking.
33:35That was very unorthodox, but very effective.
33:40You don't often see a car getting past there.
33:42And, well, full bravery from Isaac Hadjar.
33:47It gets him one place.
33:48It doesn't get him one point.
33:50He has to defend against Colopinto, who's coming back at him at Turn 11.
33:55He's got that one covered, though.
33:56Yeah, he needs to be careful about moving in the braking zone.
33:59He did leave a car's width, so no problems there for Hadjar.
34:05Franco Colopinto now down in 10th place.
34:08Isaac Hadjar gets a decent exit out of Turn 16.
34:13There goes that Red Bull Active Aero, the rear wing,
34:17opening up with a big, enormous gap that Ted says he can get his head through.
34:21And onwards, down the straight.
34:23A little charge.
34:24You can see the rain lights are blinking away.
34:28Very difficult.
34:29When the two cars have got full batteries going down that back straight,
34:34very difficult for the car behind to have any influence in terms of a boost.
34:38to make it overtake Stig.
34:42Norris has just been supreme out front, hasn't he?
34:44He's currently four tenths quicker than Leclerc, eight tenths quicker than his teammate,
34:48who's also running in clear air.
34:50So Norris beautifully dialed into this racetrack.
34:55Smiley Lando Norris, you said at the start of this race,
34:58he's going to be grinning from ear to ear at the end of this.
35:00And that is going to put a smile on Oscar Piastri's face.
35:03Charles Leclerc going too deep at turn 11,
35:07and that might just have cost him any chance of getting second place here.
35:11He'd have picked up a load of rubbish on his tyres.
35:13He'll be half a dozen corners cleaning that up with Charles Leclerc.
35:17And you kind of tippy-toe a little bit.
35:19You know you're going to have less mechanical grip.
35:21But the right front tyres marked up a little bit.
35:24Look, on the outside, unusually on the outside, given the amount of camber,
35:28the amount of lean in at the top.
35:30But Leclerc, he's kept it in play, hasn't he?
35:33But again, he's running wide.
35:34So his front tyres look ugly.
35:37They look marked up.
35:38And he's struggling to slow the car down.
35:40Yeah, he's got the advantage of nearly four seconds over Kimi Antonelli.
35:45So he might as well try something that he wouldn't normally try.
35:49It shouldn't cost him a place in that respect.
35:52But it really didn't come off Oscar Piastri.
35:55What a record this year.
35:56When he starts a race, he finishes second, right?
35:59He didn't start the first two.
36:02Came back in Japan, finished second in the Grand Prix.
36:04And he started this race.
36:05And he's going to finish second here today for the second year running
36:09to his teammate, Lando Norris.
36:11He's going through turn nine currently and on his way to another sprint victory.
36:16Look at the debris, the marbles on the racetrack in the heavily loaded areas
36:20where they're pulling a lot of G-force.
36:22But Lando Norris then, the rear wing closes as he hits the brakes.
36:26And the front wing, of course, too.
36:28A little bit of a slide through there.
36:30Probably just enjoying himself as much as anything.
36:33He knows he can discard these tyres in about half a lap's time.
36:38Just dancing it through the chicane into the tight six and do not hit the wall there.
36:44And basically, he's got one decision to make.
36:48Where to brake at 17.
36:49A swing of the steering wheel he could do in his sleep.
36:53And then a glory drive to the line in terms of another victory.
36:5819 laps of a sprint race here at the Hard Rock Stadium.
37:02The Miami International Autodrome.
37:04Lando Norris in what is sprint race 26.
37:07He's going to pick up sprint race victory number four.
37:10Lando Norris crosses the line.
37:12A very comfortable winner here.
37:14And once again, McLaren triumphant with a 1-2 in a sprint in Miami.
37:20Oscar Piastri comes home to take second.
37:22Charles Leclerc third.
37:23Kimi Antonelli, championship leader, fourth.
37:26Beating his teammate, George Russell.
37:28Good old scrap they were having earlier on.
37:30Max Verstappen had a battle with Lewis Hamilton.
37:33One out on that one.
37:34He finishes sixth.
37:35Hamilton seventh.
37:36Gasly will take the final point.
37:39But there are honours in terms of who comes out on top at the Haas team.
37:44And Oli Behrman is going to chase now.
37:46Esteban Ocon all the way to the line.
37:48Carlos Sainz in 14th.
37:50Liam Lawson who struggled early on in 15th.
37:52Here comes Oli Behrman.
37:54Is he going to go last of the late breakers with Esteban Ocon into turn 17?
37:59He's going to try to switch back at the hairpin.
38:01But Esteban Ocon has got that covered.
38:03Hadjar ninth.
38:04Colopinto, Bortoleto.
38:06Ocon finishes 12th.
38:08And then comes Oli Behrman and Carlos Sainz and Liam Lawson.
38:11Sergio Perez has been overtaken by Fernando Alonso down into the hairpin.
38:18Can Alonso stay ahead to the line?
38:21Good effort, mate.
38:22Well done.
38:24Yeah, well done.
38:25Nice win.
38:27Great job.
38:28Let's do it all over again.
38:31Antonelli noted a gain for track limits then.
38:34That could be a five-second penalty for Kimi Antonelli if they found that he's gone over for a fourth
38:42time in this race.
38:44And that would mean that George Russell and Max Verstappen would go ahead of Kimi Antonelli in the final standings.
38:50Nice checkered flag.
38:51Nice job, Oscar.
38:52Strong P2.
38:53And McLaren won two as well.
38:56We're really happy with that.
38:58Good job.
38:59Yeah, well done, everybody.
39:00Good job.
39:02Nice to see the pace was pretty good, obviously.
39:05I'm sure there's a couple of things to work on.
39:07But nice to be able to hold off everybody else.
39:10So thank you.
39:12It's a good one this afternoon.
39:14Yeah, I think strong P2 is probably a bit of a stake through his heart when his teammate had an
39:20even stronger P1.
39:22But they can now change the cars before qualifying this afternoon.
39:26Lewis Hamilton 21 seconds behind in a 19-second lap.
39:30Yeah, he'll be wanting to make a lot of changes in that Ferrari.
39:34So they open up.
39:36They're out of park for me as soon as they started that race, basically.
39:40And as they said, they go again.
39:43Fernando Alonso did hold off Sergio Perez all the way to the line.
39:47On the soft tyres for the Aston Martins, working for them.
39:50Perez 17th, Stroll 18th, Albon 19th, the Bottas plumb last.
39:54And 20th, Hülkenberg didn't start.
39:57Third time this season we've had an Audi not start a race.
40:01And Arvid Lindblad didn't feature in this race either.
40:05This man did feature in the race.
40:07Perfect start from pole.
40:09Kimi Antonelli once again dropped places off the line.
40:13Oscar Piastri swooped through to take second.
40:16And McLaren, from then on in, looked pretty good for a 1-2.
40:18And that's how it ended.
40:19Yep.
40:21Even after all the times he's got out of these cars,
40:23there's not really a super elegant way to do it.
40:26It's so clumsy to get out of.
40:28Well, we'll bring you details of anything that might affect Kimi Antonelli as soon as we get it.
40:39But he was shown the black and white flag.
40:43And I believe just looking at the timing screen,
40:45he might then have had another lap where he went over track limits.
40:51Karim Chandlok's at Sky Race Control.
40:53You were keeping an eye on it.
40:54Yeah, I was just listening to the team radio there.
40:57Pete Bonington giving him a heads up.
40:59Kimi doesn't think he was off at turn 11 on the last lap.
41:02But obviously the stewards have the cameras.
41:05It's hard to tell from this one, but they'll be arguing the toss.
41:09Just a quick one on the start.
41:10He asked, did I do anything wrong?
41:12And they said, no, you did your procedure right.
41:14It was just the grip was lower than we expected.
41:17Okay.
41:18So let's see what they learn from that.
41:20So they've set things up for a higher estimated grip level,
41:23which didn't come there for Martin.
41:25You get the wheel spin, right?
41:27Yeah, it looks like the car moved and then just bogged down, actually.
41:30So maybe he had to get out of the throttle.
41:32He's definitely under investigation for track limits.
41:35It was sort of the second phase.
41:36He went absolutely nowhere.
41:38The battery kicking in to help them get away
41:41is not in place yet, as I understand it.
41:43Yeah, so five-second time penalty for Kimi Antonelli,
41:47the championship leader, what would have been five points in this race.
41:51Eight, seven, six, five points, yeah.
41:53It will now be a sixth-place finish for Kimi Antonelli.
41:56He picks up three points.
41:58So there's a four-point swing at the top of the championship there,
42:02or three-point swing, as George Russell gains a point.
42:05Max Verstappen will gain a point, and Kimi Antonelli loses two points.
42:09So that has been ruled by the stewards,
42:12who will have had a static camera to have a better look at it as well.
42:16And we'll try and get maybe an off-board shot
42:20to see whether he did go over the track limits,
42:24but the stewards are pretty convinced he did.
42:26Yeah, looking at the screen here,
42:27it says on lap 16 that it came up, turn 11 on lap 16,
42:33that they saw some time ago.
42:36Lando Norris is the winner.
42:37David Coulthard, former McLaren driver,
42:39talking to Charles Leclerc.
42:41Welcome to the interviews we've just heard from Brian Tyler,
42:44the composer of the F1 theme tune.
42:46He's just on a world debut of the remix,
42:49We Are Dreaming.
42:50So let's ask Charles Leclerc,
42:52whether you dreamed you could finish third here in this sprint race.
42:56It's been, I'd say, a challenging start to the season,
42:59but the upgrades have really worked well,
43:01and we saw you pushing hard against Oscar
43:03right towards the end of the race there.
43:05Yeah, no, the upgrades worked well.
43:07I mean, it's thanks to the team
43:08that has done a massive work over these five weeks of break,
43:12but I'm satisfied with that.
43:15Unfortunately, I'm not satisfied with P3, though.
43:18Obviously, we wish we were a little bit higher,
43:19but McLaren brought significant upgrades as well
43:22and did a big step forward.
43:24But we are not too far,
43:25so I think for tomorrow, if we put everything together,
43:28maybe we can start a bit higher up,
43:29and that will make our life a little bit easier.
43:32That's the nature of a racing driver,
43:33we're never to be happy,
43:34but you got some good points there,
43:36and it's my pleasure to give you your award
43:38for finishing third in the sprint.
43:40Thank you very much. Thank you.
43:41Enjoy that.
43:41If you can just stay with us just over there,
43:44and I'm going to bring in Oscar.
43:46So, Oscar, we had the opportunity
43:47to speak just ahead of the race,
43:49and you were pretty positive
43:51with the way qualifying it went.
43:52These upgrades have been working,
43:54and you had your eye very much in moving forward.
43:56So, satisfied with the seven points for a second?
44:00Yes, I think mostly it was,
44:02yeah, obviously a little bit defined
44:04to try and stay with Lando,
44:06but no, overall it was a good day,
44:08or a good morning, obviously.
44:10So, yeah, we'll try and see what we can do for qualifying.
44:12I think everyone else will learn a lot,
44:15but so will we.
44:16So, hopefully we can maintain that
44:18through the rest of the weekend.
44:19Okay, well, here is your award
44:20for second in the sprint.
44:21Congratulations,
44:21if you also would wake with Charles.
44:23And ladies and gentlemen,
44:25the winner of the sprint
44:27on a track that's been very kind to you in the past,
44:29Lando Norris, congratulations.
44:31Put us in the cockpit.
44:3319 hot laps,
44:34but you had it under control
44:36right from the very start.
44:37Yes, no, it was a good race.
44:39Good race, nice to be back on the top step,
44:41even if it's a sprint.
44:43But a good day for us,
44:44you know, a massive job to the team
44:46in bringing the upgrades.
44:48I know it feels like everyone's saying the same thing,
44:50but, you know, ours really helped this weekend,
44:52so happy to get it done for the team.
44:55But it's hot.
44:56It was hot out there.
44:56It was sweaty.
44:57I was still pushing, you know,
44:58I was trying to find that balance of pushing,
45:00but also being quite relaxed
45:01and not making mistakes.
45:02So, a good start to the weekend,
45:05but now we have to do it all over again.
45:06Well, you do indeed.
45:07You've got to qualify this evening.
45:09How much of what you've just learned there,
45:11good eight points on the board
45:13with the sprint win,
45:14where is your mind?
45:15You're always moving forward,
45:16so are you looking at making many adjustments
45:18for the car going into main qualifying later?
45:21Probably not too many, if it works.
45:24If it's not broken, I don't know what that is.
45:26But anyway, it's worked so far, you know,
45:28so we'll probably change a couple of things.
45:31There's a couple of things
45:31that went different from yesterday
45:33that will adjust,
45:34so hopefully we have a little bit more to come,
45:35but I'm sure the others will too,
45:36so we'll just keep our head down
45:38and keep pushing.
45:39Okay.
45:39Well, congratulations.
45:40Please stay there
45:41because we have a special award
45:42that's going to be presented
45:43by Reid Wiseman,
45:45who was the commander
45:46on the recent Artemis II mission
45:48to the moon and back.
45:50So there you have that award.
45:53And if we can bring
45:55our second and third place finishers
45:58in this sprint.
45:59Reid, if you stay there
46:00for the picture, please.
46:01Ladies and gentlemen,
46:02as we stand here after the sprint
46:05in memory of Alex Zanardi,
46:07who sadly passed in the last 24 hours,
46:11we celebrate racing as a community.
46:17Thank you.
46:19Thank you.
46:45Thank you.
47:15Thank you.
47:42Thank you.
48:12Thank you.
48:41Thank you.
48:42Thank you.
48:50Thank you.
48:53Thank you.
48:54Продолжение следует...
