00:00I have to make an announcement with a lot of pride and with a lot of sense of, what can
00:15I say, a very encouraging and very, very promising event as I have just met with those children today.
00:27One day, Amar Bhatti, our worthy member of the House, asked me to come to the Office of the Leader
00:34of Opposition.
00:35And once I went there, I met with four, five children there, girls from Crescent Model Higher Scenery School, Girls'
00:52Campus, Shadman Branch, Lahore.
00:54And they are students of PYP Class 5.
00:59They are students of Class 5.
01:01And their coordinator, Ghanema Zubair, was accompanying them.
01:06Miss Anika Gulzar was accompanying them.
01:09And students by the name of Zukhraf Zahid, Arush Sajid, Saleh Hassan, Muntaha Shwayab.
01:20They are in our galleries.
01:23They are in the...
01:24I would request that these...
01:29And they have...
01:31They have written a letter.
01:33And this is interesting.
01:35All we all know, tomorrow is Labor's Day.
01:39And Labor Day is worldwide recognized.
01:48So I'm just reading out this letter.
01:51I was really touched by...
01:54by the sincerity of the purpose
01:57and their way of giving this to me.
02:02It reads as to the speaker, Provincial Assembly of Punjab.
02:06We hope you are doing well.
02:07On the occasion of Labor Day,
02:09we, the students of Grade 5 PYP
02:12from Crescent Model Higher Scenery School
02:15present this proposal on child domestic labor.
02:20Labor Day reminds us of workers' rights,
02:23but it also highlights
02:25the children who are forced to work in homes
02:29instead of going to school.
02:32Through this proposal,
02:33we want to save our voice for these children
02:37and request stranger action to protect their future.
02:42Pakistan has laws against this.
02:45Article 25A makes education a right for every child.
02:50Article 11 of the Constitution
02:52protects children from exploitation.
02:56The Employment of Children Act 1991
02:58and the Punjab Domestic Workers Act 2019
03:02also helps protect children from domestic labor.
03:06Still, many children work because families are poor
03:10and people do not report these cases.
03:14We suggest start a child labor complaint helpline
03:19where people can safely report child workers,
03:23give mothers and poor families
03:25a monthly support amount if their children stay in school.
03:29Schools should report children who stop attending classes.
03:33strict action should be taken against employers
03:37who hire on derage domestic workers.
03:46Children belong in classrooms,
03:48not in kitchens.
03:50Thank you, Anoush Sajid,
03:53Saliah Ahmed,
03:54Zukhruf Zahid,
03:57students of Class 5,
03:59Pink Crescent Model Higher Scenery School.
04:01I thank these young ladies
04:06for just pricking our conscience on this
04:10and I'm sending this letter down
04:13to the floor
04:15and I'm requesting Mr. Suhaib Bharat
04:30and Ali Sahab,
04:31you just name the one
04:32who are
04:33and all the political parties
04:36are
04:36from all the non-mahinds
04:37to be unanimous.
04:39Thank you very much.
