00:00The stock's on track for its best day right now since the end of October, but at one point since
00:05May of 2020.
00:06This doesn't happen every day. So in that milestone quarter, what were the milestones that you think your company's hit
00:13that's got the market thinking like this?
00:16Yeah, thanks for having me on. I point to a handful of things. First off, I would say this was
00:20one of the best quarters in the company's history.
00:22And, you know, we've been in the process of a turnaround for a handful of years, and I think this
00:28marks a really important inflection point in terms of, you know, the history that's unfolded over those couple of years.
00:35I think in particular in the quarter, something that was really exciting for us was that our voice channel grew
00:41up to 20 percent.
00:42That's the sixth consecutive quarter of accelerated growth in a row for us in that channel.
00:48And you can see a lot of that sort of being catalyzed by voice AI workloads that you see from
00:56so many different kinds of startups.
00:58And I think what's exciting about that is, is that these conversations are being enriched by data, which also kind
01:04of speaks to our strengths.
01:06And in particular, these conversations are moving from things that used to be human to human, increasingly human to agent,
01:14agent to human.
01:16For lots of people, the kind of base level story is messaging demand, right?
01:21Going back to Twilio's roots.
01:23The more exciting story is that Twilio is on this journey where it goes from being that messaging and communications
01:30offering to being much more of an infrastructure layer.
01:34You know, you hold yourself to really high standards, Kozma.
01:37I know that we've discussed that, but where do you think you are on the journey towards that kind of
01:42much more encompassing platform that you wanted Twilio to be?
01:48Yeah, I mean, I would say that we're executing well on it.
01:51We've got our big customer conference signal next week, so I don't want to get too far ahead of that
01:56and front run it.
01:57But the way that I would characterize it is very similar to the way that you described it.
02:01Like, these things tend to start in a channel, like messaging, like voice.
02:06Our ambition is that many more of these translate into cross-channel communications in which there's this channel orchestration layer,
02:16which means basically that however a customer wants to be reached, whenever they want to be reached,
02:22whatever the kind of context with which they want to be reached, they are.
02:26And that allows for a highly enriched, deeply personalized interaction, whether, again, that's human-to-human or agent-to-human.
02:34And I think at a time when the LLMs are unleashing so much power, being able to add context to
02:42those conversations is crucial,
02:44and that's something that Twilio is really able to do.
02:47Kozma, you're so B2B, but how much are you starting to see your B2C, like the whole world of vibe
02:52coding?
02:52I'm having to set up Twilio to be able to connect my WhatsApps with what I'm writing to be able
02:58to basically see the way in which I use AI personally.
03:02Is everyone suddenly using Twilio in a more consumer-focused way?
03:06I think predominantly we're like 99% B2B, to be honest.
03:10I mean, I think for the lay developer, maybe that's kind of the angle of your question,
03:14I think it's never been easier to use our console than it is today.
03:18We've actually done a ton of behind-the-scenes work to make that console experience super simple.
03:24So we've always been a very, very attractive brand for developers.
03:27I think increasingly, whether you're a vibe coder or whether you're just experimenting,
03:32whether, frankly, you're launching an agent for the first time and asking your agent to do the work on your
03:37behalf,
03:37our console's ready for that.
03:39We're seeing pretty limited volume, I would say, so far, but we definitely think that that's going to take off,
03:44and we're super excited about it.
03:46This is clearly a very positive story for the stock.
03:50We're up $4 billion in terms of market cap today alone.
03:52What does that mean for people at the moment, Cosmo?
03:55Are you hiring in this moment?
03:58Yeah, I would say we are doing, like, some modest hiring.
04:01Like, by and large, over the last couple years, our workforce has been relatively flat.
04:06I think, like a lot of companies, we're seeing tremendous productivity gains as a result of AI.
04:11I'll speak for myself, but I think this is true of our workforce.
04:15I'm 10% to 15% more productive today than I was two years ago as a result of using
04:20different kinds of AI tools.
04:22We deploy a variety of them with very, very strict security guardrails to our workforce.
04:28But I think everybody is seeing a real improvement.
04:31Rather than turn that into, like, a layoff or something of that nature,
04:35instead, we're turning it back to how can we accelerate innovation velocity.
