00:00I was talking to somebody about Manny coming back fighting Mario Barrios and
00:06this was the analogy I gave you just your timing it's just it slows down that's
00:13time. Time slows you down. Five Pacquiao is 46 years old we haven't seen him in
00:19the ring. What about Manny and Barrios what do you think? Oh it's gonna be a
00:23good fight always Manny Pacquiao bring all the best to make a good fight. At
00:2946 Manny Pacquiao is set to make a historic return to the ring aiming to
00:35capture yet another world title as he prepares to face WBC welterweight
00:39champion Mario Barrios on July 19th in Las Vegas. The iconic eight division
00:45champion has been training hard under the watchful eye of longtime coach Freddie
00:50Roach vowing to be in peak condition on fight night. Across the ring 30 year old
00:55Barrios presents a real challenge taller younger and in his prime. With a sharp
01:00jab, high work rate, and recent wins including a statement victory over
01:05Jordanis Yugas, Barrios poses a serious threat to Pacquiao's leg.
01:09Well business just picked up here in Las Vegas July 19th you'll see the WBC welterweight champion
01:15Mario Barrios and the eight division 11 legend Manny Pacquiao. Manny, long layoff. You could have come back probably against
01:23anybody. Why pick out the champion in the division to make this historic return?
01:28I believe with fighting with Barrios that we can give a good fight and we can entertain the fans. I
01:33mean that's pretty sure because Barrios is a good fighter also. He's a champion.
01:37The biggest question from everybody Manny is how much do you have left? I'll ask you that at 46 what
01:44can we expect to see from the great Pac-Man?
01:46You know me, I always bring surprises to the fans like what I did before. I have to train hard
01:53and make sure that 100% condition on the fight.
01:56Mario, you've been on the highest level before. Pay-per-view fights with Tank and Keith Thurman. But getting a
02:02name like this to defend your title against July 19th here in Las Vegas, it's got to feel like a
02:07mountaintop moment in some ways.
02:09Definitely. This is huge. This is huge for me. This is huge for boxing. Living legend coming back out of
02:16retirement to fight me for my WBT title. It's an honor to be defending against him.
02:23But I'm expecting one of the hardest fights of my career and I think that's exactly what people are going
02:28to see on July 19th.
02:30I know the admiration, the respect you have for Manny Pacquiao. How do you turn that off on fight night
02:35going in against a legend like this?
02:38Oh yeah, no. Nothing but respect for him. Nothing but respect for everything he's accomplished and done in his career.
02:43But at the end of the day, you know, he's in there. He's trying to take what's mine.
02:46Mario Barrios has made it clear that his July 19th clash with Manny Pacquiao is strictly business, speaking during a
02:53media workout.
02:54Barrios stressed that he's approaching the fight as a title defense knot, a tribute to a legend.
03:00I'm not training with the mentality that I'm going to be ready to fight an icon, a legend. He said,
03:06at the end of the day, he's just another man trying to fight for my title, for Barrios.
03:12Pacquiao isn't a hero or idol. He's an obstacle standing between him and his WBC welterweight champion.
03:18I'm not training with the mentality, you know, that I'm getting ready to fight an icon, fight a legend. At
03:23the end of the day, he's just another man, you know, trying to fight for my title.
03:28He's going in there trying to, you know, take my title, and I gotta do whatever it takes to make
03:32sure he does it.
03:34It's all like, once that bell rings, it's just business.
03:37Manny, you have a chance to join the history books with the likes of Bernard Hopkins, George Foreman, Archie Moore.
03:43Do you feel like you have the potential to be an inspiration for us 40 and over guys to follow
03:48your dreams in a big moment?
03:50That's what I'm trying to do, to be an inspiration to the young kids and also the people who love
03:56boxing.
03:57Manny, you'll also be inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in June, one month before this fight. Congratulations. What
04:04does that honor mean to you?
04:05Thank you. It's a great honor for me to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. And also, that's a
04:12history. I mean, I can't believe it. I can't imagine. In my boxing career, I will get the Hall of
04:20Fame.
04:21We know his accolades. What type of fight should we expect when you two touch gloves July 19th?
04:27I think everybody knows what type of fight Manny brings. Everybody knows that I never shy away from an action
04:34-packed fight.
04:35I think July 19th is going to be nothing short of an exciting night for boxing and just the world
04:42of sports.
04:42When Mario Barrios holds a deep respect for Manny Pacquiao's legendary career, he's made it clear that admiration won't follow
04:50them into the ring.
04:52All the respect is going to be there. But come fight night, we're going in with bad intentions, Barrios said.
04:59His focus is singular. Defend his title not, celebrate a legacy, as Pacquiao chases history. At 46, many boxing experts
05:08remain skeptical about his ability to overcome the physical toll of age.
05:12Sports scientists note that key attributes like reaction time, lung capacity, and explosiveness begin to decline significantly after the late
05:2120s.
05:23Pacquiao's once blinding speed along his most dangerous weapon has clearly dulled. And even.
05:29Longtime trainer Freddie Roach has admitted to a noticeable drop in his footwork and recovery during...
05:34I was talking to somebody about Manny coming back and fighting Mario Barrios. Ouch.
05:40And this was the analogy I gave. You just, your timing, it's just, it slows down. That's time. Time slows
05:49you down.
05:50And so, to me, I think Manny has to come out very strong, very fast in the first couple of
05:56rounds because his gas tank ain't what it used to be.
06:02At 46 years old, you come out, and let's just say, hypothetically, your gas is half full at 46 years
06:09old.
06:10I'd rather try to use that full, that half tank.
06:12When I got something.
06:13And two or three rounds.
06:14Yeah.
06:16And really get off on this kid because he has the kind of style. Styles make fights.
06:21He's got the perfect style for Manny to do what he do.
06:25But the further that fight goes, the more that's gonna go down.
06:30He ain't young no more when it does this.
06:32It ain't gonna do this no more.
06:34It ain't gonna go down and then come back up.
06:36He not gonna create space, take a deep breath, and that thing shoot up the way it used to.
06:40He ain't gonna do that.
06:41Yeah.
06:50Yeah.
06:51He's no longer the relentless whirlwind who once dazzled opponents with speed and angles.
06:55The concern isn't just visualize functional.
06:58Slower footwork and diminished reflexes could leave him exposed against a younger, sharper puncher like Mario Barrios.
07:06Though Pacquiao's comeback is undeniably brave.
07:08Many believe it carries real risk not just to his legacy, but to his long-term well dashed being.
07:15Manny Pacquiao against Mario Barrios fight is signed, done for July of 2025.
07:23Pacquiao is 46 years old.
07:26We haven't seen him in the ring in years.
07:29Are you cool with Pacquiao against Mario Barrios?
07:32If I was cool with Manny Pacquiao coming back and fighting Keith Thurman, I'm definitely gonna be cool with this
07:37one.
07:37And Barrios is not a puncher. Thurman was a one-time, one of the biggest punchers in boxing.
07:41I think he's gonna be just fine.
07:43If Pacquiao wants to come back as a Hall of Famer and fight one more time, whatever.
07:48He didn't look good against Jordanis Ugas, and that was five years ago.
07:51We've seen him in these exhibitions looking fleshy, to say the least.
07:57It's meaningless because if Barrios wins, he's never gonna fight a Boots Ennis.
08:01If Pacquiao wins, he's not gonna fight anybody ever again.
08:03So I'm kind of indifferent to the whole thing.
08:07Yeah.
08:08Mario Barrios is younger.
08:10He's younger.
08:11He's big.
08:12He's a big boy.
08:13I mean, he still has a little bit more youth in him than Manny.
08:20You know, Manny, if I'm not mistaken, I think Mario Barrios is probably the same size as Margarito.
08:30I think so, like, 5'10", 5'11".
08:32Around there, yeah.
08:33Yeah.
08:33And Manny at this age, he shouldn't be fighting.
08:37I just, I mean, in my opinion, I respect the man a lot.
08:40He gave the sport of boxing his life.
08:44He gave us great moments, great memories.
08:47For another belt taken on Mario Barrios, what do you make of this?
08:52Um, well, first of all, before I even talk about the fight, it seems that boxing has changed.
09:04Because this guy's been retired for, what, three or four years?
09:10Yeah.
09:10What's the last fight, Thurman?
09:12Yeah.
09:13Been a while.
09:13He's 46 years old.
09:14Yeah.
09:15But, I mean, the thing is, is that he's done nothing to be fighting for a world title.
09:20Oh, yeah.
09:20For certain, yeah.
09:21He...
09:22So, I mean, I don't understand why he's even fighting for a world title.
09:26But to make a comparison, isn't that kind of the same thing, though, really?
09:29Is, like, Floyd fighting Conor?
09:32It's not the same.
09:33Why not?
09:34Because.
09:37Oh, okay.
09:38Well, that explains it.
09:39You three.
