06:57The lucky owners are Mark.

07:03And his Canadian wife.

07:06We still get those moments when we're like.

07:08This place is amazing.

07:14It's incredibly rewarding.
07:16And then at the end of the evening.

12:09In the beautiful Occitanie region of southern France stands the impressive 13th century Chateau de Montespieux.
12:20The historic castle, with its fairytale towers, comprises 66 rooms, a splendid central courtyard, and comes with 37 acres.
12:38It's been empty for decades, until Leicestershire couple Louisa and Roger bought it in 2023 for £840,000.
12:50We couldn't believe that a building like this was within our budget.
12:55We always thought this was going to be a project.
12:57Do it up as much as we can, and then move on.
12:59But as it continues, I think we're both starting to feel like it would be really nice if we could
13:06stay longer than five years.
13:07You really take to it.
13:08I think everyone should have a chateau.
13:10It's really great.
13:18Located an hour's drive from the city of Toulouse, Louisa and Roger plan to turn the chateau into a luxury
13:25event venue.
13:28And when we last saw them, started to create a his and hers two-bedroom guest suite on the first
13:36floor.

14:50I've bought some frames, 50 centimetre diameter ones, and then I tried to measure the circumference of it and it

15:14And with that, I now know that I need three widths of the wallpaper to cover a lampshade.
15:23Louisa's using the leftover wallpaper and needs to make them chateau-sized, as they're for the ceiling lights.
15:32I'm hoping it will work, I'm hoping it will look good, I'm hoping it will be usable.
15:37But in the worst case scenario, I've lost a little bit of time and I will have at least tried

17:22As today, they're heading to a local brocante in the hope of finding some antique treasures to help furnish it.
17:31We love coming here because, well, first of all, it's eclectically fantastic.
17:37And secondly, there's so many great things that we've been able to source for the chateau.
17:41And of course, look, it's a lot of fun.
17:44With their friends arriving in a couple of days.
17:48If we find a second one that looks like this, because that's quite cool.
17:52They don't have much time to make it shine.
17:55This is a very old model, casserole dish, and this is a cast iron, I believe.

21:15especially as the trees by the water's edge

21:20What we're trying to do is create lovely views into the pond,
21:24but everything's just spread out and there's not a single nice vista.

22:14and as it fell over that way,
22:17it lifted up the roots and created this big mound.
22:21It's left these big solid bits of tree trunk left.
22:28So it's all these bits we want to get rid of,
22:30so when the mower goes over it, we're not trying to chop a big lump of wood.
22:35I'm going to put this on the border of our land
22:38so it can rot away for little bugs, like a bug hotel.

22:51When we met, I lived by the sea.
22:52He lived on the canal and had a boat,
22:54and we decided that anywhere we lived, we have to have water.
22:58The river was actually, like, really high on our list of dream things
